- In my pocket, I have one of the scariest,

most mind-boggling objects on the planet Earth.

I know, stand back!

This thing haunts me.

It scares me, and as a magician,

you would think that I could actually do something about it

and solve this thing,

but to be honest with you, I can not.

I've always wanted to,

but I really legitimately don't know how,

even if I tried, I would not be able to solve this thing.

It, in fact, gives me a lot of anxiety,

which is why I carry around this paper bag.

(audience laughing)

To heal my anxiety.

However, I thought what if

healing my anxiety (dramatic music)

would heal the thing that causes me the most anxiety?

Watch.

And it is completely solved.

each and every one of your imaginations are,

because of that, I've actually invited two random people

up here with me.

I'm gonna have you guys using your imagination,

and to do that, I brought some arts and crafts.

We have a couple blank slips of paper

that we will get back to.

As well as that, we have this.

It's gonna be a lot of fun later.

We're gonna leave that right there.

Now I'm gonna show each of you guys an image

known as a ink blot test, or a Rorschach test.

Actually, by round of applause,

how many of you have heard of an ink blot test?

(audience applauding)

Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay.

I didn't know this was a group therapy session, but okay.

(audience laughing)

But it's my version of it.

And actually, I don't want you guys to see this just yet,

so can you actually face forward?

This is what it looks like.

I call it a doodle blot,

because it's a bunch of scribbly lines

that they're gonna look into

until their imagination sees one clear image

in the chaos of the lines, okay?

So I'm gonna have you go up first.

Just think of the first image you see,

don't overthink it.

And in fact, can you just point to whichever image

you're focusing on.

Yeah?

And I want you to paint whatever image it is

that you're focusing on vividly in your mind,

so you don't forget it.

You're doing that?

Okay, perfect.

And you can face forward.

Now I'm gonna have you go up next.

And I'm gonna give you a slightly different angle, okay?

So same thing, don't overthink it,

just point to whichever image...

Okay.

And just like I said with him,

I want you to paint it vividly in your imagination

so you don't forget it.

- Yep.

- Okay?

And then you can face forward too.

Now think about it, two people looked at the same scribbles

and thought of an image.

Maybe they thought of the same image,

or maybe two different images.

I don't know.

We're gonna try this out.

We'll try this.

You guys can face me now.

This is where we're gonna use this.

Now this is a whole bunch of confetti.

And we're gonna sprinkle these

into these pieces of paper.

So here, get a handful.

There we go.

Sprinkle some in there.

And then I'm gonna have you do the same thing.

And sprinkle that in there.

And this is where it's gonna get real fun.

Can you actually, just with your right hand,

just pinch right here.

Yep, yeah, yeah, yeah, just like that.

And then when I tell you to,

you're gonna use your other hand to open it flat

like a book, okay?

And then I'm gonna have you do the same exact thing.

So here, take your right hand and just pinch right here.

Yep.

And then again when I tell you to...

Yep, with your index on the bottom.

When I tell you to, you're gonna use your other hand

to open it flat like a book, okay?

This is where it's gonna be really interesting,

because you guys don't even know what images

they're thinking of, right?

So for the first time, what image did you go for?

- The red apple.

Okay, did you go for a red apple?

- A red bird.

- Oh, a red bird, okay.

Hopefully this works.

So Katherine, like I said,

I wanted to create a moment that was very, very unique,

and I actually have an idea of how I think

that this is going to go by the end of this, okay?

I have it on a piece of paper right here.

So Katherine, that is for you.

We're gonna look at that later on,

but you're gonna hold on to that.

In fact, you can put your hand on it right now

if you want to.

If your hand gets tired you can bring it down, it's fine.

Just keep an eye on the paper,

make sure I don't get near it, cool?

- Now I've also got some photographs here, Katherine.

There's a bunch of different photos here.

They're a bunch of random things.

Okay, I've got things like a baseball there,

we got a flamingo, there's a sword.

Now Katherine, somehow these photographs,

I'm going to try and make some of these

mean something to you by the end of this.

Hopefully, one of these photographs

will mean something to you by the time we're done, okay?

So there a bunch of different random things.

Now Katherine, all of the faces of these photographs

are totally different.

But the backs are all the same, can you see that?

So all the faces are different,

but the backs are all the same, cool?

So I'm gonna try and mix these up randomly, okay?

Make them all totally random.

We're gonna mix them up face up and face down

just like this, okay?

You see these face up, these face down.

And I'm gonna start mixing these up right now

just like this, Katherine.

This is to make sure that it's completely a mess.

That these are completely randomly mixed up.

I'm gonna make it even more a mess, Katherine.

I'm gonna flip over maybe like every other one

just to make sure it's even more of a mess there.

Every other one.

Now Katherine, I wanna get you involved with this too.

I want you to start making some decisions here, okay?

So now they're all mixed up face up, face down,

we're gonna take two of them like this.

That stop light is face up right now

and on the other side is a windowpane.

You tell me right now,

do you want these to stay up like this

or do you want me to flip them?

Do you want me drop them as they are or flip them,

it's up to you.

- Drop them.

- Drop them.

Drop them just like that.

So that stop light, that is face up, it's still face up.

It would've been face down if you said flip, right?

- Yeah.

- We're gonna do it again with these two.

The lamp is face up,

do you want me to drop it or flip it?

- Drop.

- Drop, we're dropping those.

These two, we'll do it quick. These two, drop or flip?

Now here's the deal, some of these are now face up,

You're gonna make one more decision right now, okay?

There's some that are closer to me

and then some that are closer to the audience right now.

I'm gonna flip over one more pile.

That pile is going to determine the rest of how this goes.

You're gonna decide, am I flipping over the pile

that's closer to the audience

or the pile that's closer to me, which one do you want?

- Audience.

- The one that's closer to the audience is getting flipped

just like that.

So Katherine, at this point now

you've made all of these decisions.

Some of these are face up, some of them are face down.

Katherine, we're only gonna use the ones that are face down,

so we're not gonna use that baseball,

we're not gonna use that flamingo,

we're gonna only use these ones that are face down.

We're not gonna use that wrench there,

we're not gonna use the cactus, or whatever that tool is.

We're gonna use these, we're not gonna use the lamp,

we're not gonna use the nut and bolts or that door handle,

only these, cool, Katherine?

- [Katherine] Cool.

- Now Katherine, here's the deal,

I said I wanted to make some of these mean something to you,

so let's see what we've ended up with here.

Katherine, we've got a bunch of different random ones here.

Katherine, there's a lighthouse there.

You don't live in a lighthouse, do you?

- I do not.

- Okay.

(audience laughing)

Have you ever seen a lighthouse, Katherine?

- I have.

- Amazing, how do I do it?

That was good.

What about this one, we've got an airplane,

have you ever been in an airplane?

- Yes.

- Do you have any affiliation

with airplanes though, Katherine?

- No.

- Nothing?

Okay, books there, nothing with books.

Do you like to read maybe?

- I do like to read.

- But would you say that's a hit,

like that's amazing, oh my gosh, how did he...

No, nothing like...

Okay.

This is going great.

Okay, umbrella there. (audience laughing)

We've got a stop light, we've got a window.

So far nothing's really jumping out at you,

none of this really has any meaning to you right now?

Okay.

That's okay.

We've got a clothespin there.

And then we've got a Swiss army knife.

Now Katherine, the truth is,

is I did say I wanted to end this in a way

that was very unique.

So beforehand there was a drawing that was made

and I have two little twin three year olds,

and one of them drew the drawing that you're gonna see

and they drew it before I even came here.

So we're gonna unfold this, Katherine.

I want you to see, this has been here the whole time,

your hands have been on it the entire time, right?

Check this out, Katherine,

this is actually a drawing of you,

do you see that, Katherine?

But it's not just a drawing of you, Katherine,

it even says your name there,

and then it has all of the different items there.

You can see there's an umbrella there,

you can see there's a clothespin, a stop light,

there's the train track, there's some books,

there's a stop light, there's an airplane,

pocket knife, window.

Everything that we ended up with.

But Katherine, that's not even the really amazing part.

The really amazing part is I said I wanted to end this

in a way that was so unique

that it could only be done right here, right now,

and only for you, Katherine.

This is what I'm talking about.

(audience exclaiming)

Katherine, if you look really closely,

can you see what that says, Katherine?

- Oh my god. - Katherine, if you look at it

it says Katherine.

and we'll come around to this side.

Chris and Ellie, have a quick peak at your cards

as I make my way back up to the stage.

- Okay, Chris, I'm going to draw something

And I would like you to stare at it for me.

Good, now I'm going to finish it off

by drawing a playing card.

In a loud, clear voice, Chris,

could you name your card?

- Queen of hearts.

- Very good.

That's okay, I know what you're thinking,

I'm a magician and finding the card

is a bit easy for a magician.

It would be better if, Chris,

you found Ellie's selected card.

- Okay, Chris, the way that this is gonna work

is that I'm gonna draw a very quick picture of you, okay?
