When you lose someone so suddenly, it feels like your whole world is collapsing around you.
Nothing seems important anymore.
You feel like your whole life has no meaning
but reality soon catches up with you.
And Dorian, he was my whole world.
You might think that sounds like a cliche,
but I don't mean in the romantic sense.
My world revolved around him,
and it definitely should it have been that way.
We were happy. Maybe not so much recently,
but we couldn't say that we were unhappy either.
Having been together 17 years, it wasn't always easy,
but I always felt that I was fortunate.
We've been able to keep our love and our relationship alive.
But now I realized, in fact, we didn't stand the test of time.
His work caused him to spend less and less time at home,
and recently it got particularly bad.
There had been more than one night where I'd fallen asleep before he arrived home.
That's without counting the when he didn't come home at all.
Of course, I questioned it.
I interrogated him.
I got angry, but I never really doubted him.
I knew He knew that he had to take care of his clients,
even if that meant keeping up with the party animals right till dawn.
I was in denial.
I now know where he was 13 days ago, when his car spun off the carriage way and hit a truck.
I had been intrigued by this woman. all the way through the funeral service.
I didn't know her, but she seemed just as upset as I was.
I was expecting her to offer me her condolences,
but it turned out to be a whole different story.
I read about these kind of things in books, and seen it in movies, tv series.
but you always tell yourself, that it's something that happens to other people.
I thought that I'd lost him just two weeks ago,
whereas in fact he already slipped away from me four years ago, four years.
She said that she didn't know a thing about me until, She went to the police station.
worried that he wasn't answering her calls.
now she finds it crazy that she never suspected a thing.
I must be just as crazy as her.
I hesitated a long time, but I had to go ahead and confront her about it out of pride
casey, that's her name, young, vibrant
a name that right away sounds like light bright and fun,
they had an apartment together, they lived as a couple.
but he was often away on business. of course.
and their relationship had been an open one, open.
didn't quite understand what she meant by that.
my husband was clearly not what you would call open.
didn't want to know anymore,
but at the same time i desperately needed to.
i wanted to know all the details to try to understand who he really was and why
i wasn't enough for him.
I begin to see things more clearly.
Casey she was a dancer,
well, a stripper, to put it plainly, another cliche
and my husband, a walking cliche of a cheat.
It all seems so pathetic that I found it humiliating.
They started seeing each other or hooking up as she called it.
and they soon realized that they shared some of the same
It started out with her dancing for other men and it all progressed from there,
seeing him so aroused by these voistic encounters, gave her the most pleasure.
My husband, a swinger, really?
Casey had to explain it to me all in great detail, for me to understand what it meant.
I realized that I always behaved like an up-tight old prude.
I was so angry at him but ....
I couldn't get the thought out of my head that maybe I was to blame.
What did I done? Or more to the point, what hadn't I done?
Tony was Dorian's best friend,
they'd known each other since childhood,
but they always didn't see eye to eye.
Tony was the wilder one of the two,
and he hadn't settled down at all over the years.
He was always seing new girl.
and sometimes more than one at the same time.
Dorian. have criticized his lifestyle
and they even had really big arguments about it.
I didn't know how to tell Tony, but I knew that I had to.
I needed someone else to feel the same sense
of injustice and shock at finding out his lies.
I needed to share it with someone.
Tony was decided himself.
Dorian had hurt him, he felt betrayed.
Now we are both feeling the same thing.
both of us needed to draw a line underneath the past
Casey. It's me, Alexis.
I've thought about everything you told me the other day.
I tried to picture it all, you and him, the things you both did.
Then I looked at myself.
I tried to imagine what he thought of me,
and I don't want to keep turning it over in my mind,
because it doesn't really matter anymore, does it?
Today I met up with his best friend, Tony
and I told him what his friend was?
really like, then I fucked him,
or he fucked me. I don't really know how to describe it
but I loved it.
I don't feel guilty about anything at all,
I just feel different.
i know i shouldn't but i can't help feeling compassion for her
It's as if I was looking at myself in the mirror and seeing another person,
a person who I would like to be.
I feel like I'm losing my grip,
I don't know if I'm trying to heal myself or hurt myself or hurt him.
Casey told me to meet her at 1:00 in the morning.
The only thing I have is a zip code,
and a phone number in case I get lost.
I find it hard to explain my feelings towards Casey.
Sometimes I still hate her and everything that she reminds me of.
The only thing I do know
is that she needs me the same way I need her.
Maybe our friendship is kind of weird.
Some might say that it's unhealthy.
but we know that it's been necessary.
When his will was read out, we realized that there was a lot more money .
than we could have ever imagined or hoped for.
He had taken out huge life insurance policy
and I sold his business for a good price.
He might have been cheating on me for longer than her,
but her feelings for him were just as strong,
so I decided to give her half of the money
I still see Casey from time to time.
We've been good for each other
and we'll never forget that we both know that
we wouldn't carry on without being this close each other.
I made new friend through Casey.
She introduced me to Rebecca.
Just like me, Rebecca had found out that her husband was leading double life.
she never wanted to make the same mistakes again.
Rebecca doesn't hate men, far from it,
but she doesn't want any kind of exclusive relationship.
We are much more than just friends.
We are partners in our quest for new experiences.
And so the page has been turned once and for all.
Casey and I have been strong enough to overcome this ordeal.
our paths in life crossed at the moment we are both in need of a change
my life...
her life.
her life. and new start for both of us.
