Tribal went exactly how I was hoping it would.

I was able to solidify trust with Jawan

and Steven.

And I was able to get out Shannon,

who was proving to be a pretty big threat in this game.

Absolutely.

- Tonight solidified, uh... -Yeah.

- Make some really good stuff happen. -Yeah.

The feeling at camp is--

to put it in Shannon's words-- pure bliss,

because we've now confirmed that we trust each other,

that we can work together,

and that we're legit.

And there's no more doubt.

We made a big move, guys.

There's a lot of luck involved in Survivor.

- Yes. -And I think we got a really good roll

-Yeah. - that we ended up finding each other

pre-merge,

because now we have a solid connection,

and, like, we can just keep... keep this going.

- Moving through this game. -Yeah.

Like I said, y'all can go be, like, double agents.

I think we can ride that middle line.

So far,

the story's been Uli versus Hina.

Uli's been winning.

Now we're flipping the script.

We are destroying the status quo.

Uli is gonna be shooken to their core,

'cause they think it was Steven.

They're gonna think it's you, bro.

We're praying that we're about to enter act two

into this game: the merge. And

my mission is

I want to, basically, blend in to the Uli tribe.

It's the one thing you always want to hear on Survivor

For me, I'm super excited, 'cause I'm not sure I would

have survived a Tribal Council in this tribe.

Now I get to meet back up with my former Uli members.

So I have new life in this game.

I'm excited.

This is the moment that you wait for.

I'm on cloud nine right now.

I want to start playing the game of Survivor.

And heading into the next stage of the game,

I know that Rizo has an idol.

And no one knows that I also have my own Beware Advantage.

But...

I still don't have a vote.

So, like, that part is what makes me nervous.

But the note said

that after the first individual immunity challenge,

the next step of my Beware Advantage will become active.

So I'm gonna have to get to work

and find that idol and get my vote back.

Heading to the merge,

I'm in a good position with the numbers,

because I know I have

connections with the old Uli tribe.

It really feels like my game is flipping around on its head.

And to top it off, I have a Knowledge Is Power,

and nobody knows about it.

Last night, Sage and Jawan voted against tribal lines.

So there's gonna be

a lot of people on the Uli tribe

that are shocked to see Shannon gone

and seeing Steven sitting right there.

I was thinking of a cool name for the three of us.

We've got to get our story straight,

so that the Bottoms Up alliance,

that includes me, Jawan and Sage,

stays under the radar.

We are spinning so hard, we're overthinking every small detail.

We're trying to figure out what to do.

And then, of course, we hear everybody

They're gonna know we hear 'em.

This is getting awkward,

and they're gonna start asking questions if we don't come down.

And I hear someone say...

So at that point,

we decide the gig is up.

When we land on Kele, who walks out from the shelter

but Sage, Jawan and Steven?

And, immediately, my alarm goes off because

I thought Shannon was a number for me.

- It's so good to see you, brother. -Good to see you.

I can't wait to catch up about...

Yes.

I think the first thing we have to do is

figure out whether or not Jawan and Sage are still with us,

because the game has changed.

So we have our work cut out for us today.

-SOPHIE: Should we sit? -Do a little...

Yeah, what happened at Tribal Council yesterday?

Okay. I'm gonna take a drink of water,

and then I'll take you guys on a ride.

Jawan, Steven and I, we immediately are like,

"We got to get our story straight

about the Shannon situation."

So I'm gonna be fake as hell with former Uli.

Like, we want to convince them

this was best for everyone's game to get Shannon out.

Listen, I'm not doubting that she's, like, a genuine person,

but where, like, Shannon, who's normally like,

"Hey, guys, peace and love, like, we're all family here."

All of a sudden, she starts getting really snappy.

She starts, like...

Spiraling.

- It was like a different person. -She starts...

Within two seconds of Jawan getting here,

she's like, "We got to get Jawan out."

- And I was like, "I'm confused." -Yeah.

She made sure she was, like, looking for idols,

she was scrambling, and it just was weird.

The hope is that they really trust

in our facade.

Right now, it feels like we're putting on a musical, you know?

If we pull this off,

we can flip the script.

And I'm excited.

I think that that paranoia set in,

and things just got a little bit too chaotic.

It's crazy how much paranoia can really, like, change someone.

- Yeah. - Yeah.

So, Sage, Jawan and Steven all let us know

that Shannon had sort of lost her mind a bit,

in her final hours on the beach.

So I think there's a chance that

we can go back to Jawan and Sage

and form an old Uli alliance.

So it was a total blindside?

She-- How was actual Tribal?

She voted for me.

Wow.

- I think she just got cocky. -Yeah.

Oh, my gosh.

Um, I'm so sorry because...

It's okay. I don't care.

I was really annoyed with Sage for a while.

And...

I've had moments where I've wanted

to throw Jawan off of the side of a cliff.

Now I see

Shannon as this driver of chaos.

And I need Sage and Jawan.

I don't need to be everybody's best friend.

As long as they are

on my side, that's enough for me right now.

We were so nervous about, like,

we don't want you guys to feel like...

- No. - Yeah.

And I feel like I was...

I think that Savannah wants to work with me

for the sake of having numbers.

I don't think that Savannah wants to work with me

genuinely because she likes me or sees value in me as a player.

So when Savannah's looking deep in my soul and saying,

"Sage, it's okay.

I want to work with you. Don't worry about it. We are good."

And I'm like...

"Savannah, thank you so much. That makes me feel so good."

Meanwhile, I'm like,

"You're the next to go, the second I get the chance."

We're sitting around camp, and, all of a sudden,

we hear another boat.

What could this friggin' be?

We see a boat pull up, and I just don't even know

what to think at this point.

Like, has this happened? I don't even know.

Uncle J just keeps, like, coming with the surprises.

"Read with all tribemates together."

"Tomorrow, you will compete in a grueling challenge.

"Locked in this chest is an advantage to help.

"There are keys scattered in the jungle.

"One of them opens the chest.

"Each time you find a key,

"you must race to the chest and try it.

"If it doesn't work, then you can search for another.

"First person to open the chest gets the advantage inside.

I guess I'm putting on my shoes.

We haven't even gotten settled in,

and now we're sprinting through the jungle,

looking for these damn little keys

that are tiny as hell.

Some of them are tied super tight.

The stakes are high because the first person

to unlock this treasure chest wins an advantage

for tomorrow's immunity challenge.

And...

that is like a golden ticket.

This could be the difference of making the merge or not.

So everybody wants this thing.

It's... it's the hot girl at the party.

Everyone wants to dance with the hot girl at the party.

Yeah, it's definitely not it.

Yeah, I just think it's cooked.

Right now, we need to stay Hina strong.

And so...

I got to make sure somebody in my alliance gets that key.

I'm so stoked.

And this is gonna sound really hippie-dippie woo-woo,

but, like, I knew in my gut that key was gonna work.

And what's waiting for me

inside this chest happens to be in my chest,

and it's an advantage.

"Present this to Jeff at the challenge

where your advantage will be revealed."

And it was like the heaven gates just opened.

I was like, "This is my moment.

"This is what I've been waiting for,

to finally have some control

in this game." And so I'm

really, really proud of myself.

As soon as everybody wakes up,

they all head to the beach to see the sunrise

and to socialize.

But I'm here to play this game,

and so I get straight to business.

And that's what it is for me in this part of the game.

It's straight to business.

I feel like it's been, like, forever since I got to

- I know. - see my-my squad.

In a game like Survivor,

obviously, the social part is a big part of it,

but the strategic maneuvering is another big part of it.

And that's something that I feel like

I'm pretty good at this game.

I actually don't care,

- Okay. I'm in that vote, too. - but I think... I-I...

- Yeah. - Uh-huh.

I feel very confident with Sage and Jawan,

even though Shannon did her best nuclear bomb impression

to blow up OG Uli.

But at this point, it's very clear we can all

come together as one,

because with five OG Uli

and Sophi B--

who we kind of adopted at this point--

makes six, which is the majority

in an 11-person tribe.

Yeah.

She's a strong player. Like, she's a powerhouse.

- Like, I respect it, but she's-she's a powerhouse. -Yeah, for sure.

Yeah.

The original Uli

think that they have me and Sage, but...

guess what?

Our goal is to take these guys out,

and I'm ready to make a move.

I got good vibes

The original Uli do have the numbers,

but I need to connect with Alex because I want to work with him.

We went through so much in the first eight days of this game.

But the thing is,

I have new allies that I would even consider

I'm more loyal to than Alex.

So I'm wondering if he's in the same place with other people.

I think we're

directly in the middle.

And I-I think people are gonna try and, like, work us

- Yeah. - and try and get us on their side.

Now, what side do we want?

I know, that's the hard thing.

I'm gonna say Uli.

Alex is one of the people in this game

that I have more trust with than anyone else.

But at the same time,

I've spent a lot of my time with the original Uli.

He's spent a lot of his time with the original Hina.

I think he wants to work with me,

but he also sees where the numbers are.

And I think it would be dumb if he went with the old Hina.

I'm pretty good with Uli.

- And we could be their numbers. - Right, right.

At this point, it seems like Blue Sophi

is gonna stick it out with Savannah and Rizo, but...

I feel like I'm really well-positioned

in the middle here.

I think me and you

are gonna flourish more with Uli.

Sophi has no idea

that, truly, I am playing both sides,

but that's what I'm used to.

In D.C.,

I'm used to kind of having all this information

and using it to put myself in a better position.

She might be blindsided with what I do,

but I just want to be on the right side of the vote.

It just took a little while to get my hands on it.

Soon as I stepped on this beach, I'm like,

Sage wanted to keep the chickens,

but, like, let's be real, like, I'm friggin' hungry out here.

Everyone knows I'm sensitive about the chickens.

Savannah, of course, is like, "I'm in,"

'cause holy crap, she's friggin' nuts.

Like, she even made a comment of, like,

Just started feeling, like, too much.

Dude, I'm really worried.

at the end of the day, we still have the numbers.

and they're staying Uli strong

you start to see where people's lines actually are.

to walk into that first Tribal as 11 feeling confident,

Survivor is about a lot of things,

but ultimately it comes down to relationships.

On my go, you're gonna work together

to dig out a massive boulder

and push it through a series of obstacles.

You'll collect a machete along the way.

You'll use that machete to chop a rope

and continue pushing your large boulder

to a very tall platform, where you must

work together to climb to the top of that platform.

Once you're there,

two members from your team will work together

to solve a Survivor word puzzle.

First team to finish earns the merge meal,

your first proper food

in 14 days.

In addition, you earn the right

to move on to a second challenge,

where you will compete for individual immunity.

This is the necklace for Survivor 49.

Well, we had a very close

first stage of this challenge,

but as with all things on Survivor,

close is not enough, so here's where we stand.

We are now moving on to the second phase of this challenge.

Soph, Steven, Nate,

Sophie and Rizo won the first stage.

Sage, you earned it yesterday at the scramble.

The six of you have already earned the merge meal.

That'll be waiting for you back at camp.

All you're worried about right now is individual immunity

'cause if you have that necklace,

while you're enjoying that merge meal,

it will taste all that much better.

Here's how it works.

You're gonna stand on a very narrow beam,

balancing a ball on a disc.

At regular intervals,

you will move your feet farther down the narrow beam,

your hands farther down the pole,

both of which will make it more difficult.

If at any point you fall off

or your ball drops, you're out.

Last person left standing wins immunity.

You cannot be voted out of this game.

For everybody else, Tribal Council,

where somebody will be the eighth person voted out,

become the first member of our jury.

All right, everybody take your spots at the top.

Get up on that first widest part

of this beam.

It's the first individual immunity challenge

of Survivor 49.

You would be the first to wear that necklace.

Fourteen days, you have survived.

Now the game gets really interesting.

Rizo with some movement for the first time.

Got to really anticipate where that ball is going

and sort of meet it there.

the merge meal to enjoy.

Today is my favorite day.

we get our Buffs,

which means we make the merge.

I won that last challenge,

which was the individual immunity, which means

I am not going home.

And the best part of all of this:

we think Sage and Jawan

are fully flipped. I got to be honest.

It doesn't get better than this on Survivor.

How you guys liking it on that side?

- I'm really liking it. - Oh, my God, it's so good, guys.

I might toot, guys.

How do you think they're doing back at camp?

I could see Savannah was not happy.

I know. I felt so bad.

- She's a competitor. -Yeah.

If Uli wants, we could be Uli strong

and run the table for a while.

Not only do we have Rizo, Savannah, Sage and Jawan,

but we have pulled in

Blue Sophi.

So on paper, we have a majority.

And I think it's pretty universal

that everyone would prefer Yellow Sophie

to no longer be in this game.

When I saw that necklace, I was like, "Oh, my God." Yeah.

That necklace was badass.

She saved herself from being voted out tonight.

And so now we have to figure out what to do next,

because our choices are between

Steven, Kristina and MC.

However, strategically, this is a very mixed group,

so there's no point in talking about the vote.

I know.

Awkward.

I'm trying to savor the food while I can,

'cause once we all head back to camp,

all hell is gonna break loose.

I'm trying to make a big move, and

my plan going into Tribal Council tonight is

to team up with old Hina and take out one of former Uli.

Nate, Savannah and Rizo think

that I am just this, like,

easy-to-manipulate thing.

So, I'm looking forward to getting a taste of revenge.

You know what would be better than paint?

- Chicken? - Food.

We get back to camp,

and it's, like, nerve-racking

because I had to wait until the first immunity challenge

to get my vote back.

So, now that we are back on our beach, I have

to go to the boat,

dig under the bow of the boat, and then I'll get

my next steps on how to find my idol.

- You good, MC? - I'm good on water.

But I am gonna take some alone time.

Yes, definitely.

I don't want people to know

that I have to find this idol.

I don't want them to see me digging for this idol.

I'm looking behind my back,

looking to the left, looking to the right,

making sure no one's looking at me,

and then I just start doing a little digging.

And then I find a treasure chest.

And attached to the treasure chest

is a note.

"Use this map to find the key.

"Use the key to unlock the idol and claim it for yourself.

"If you don't secure the idol by the time

"you go to Tribal Council, the idol is dead,

"and you cannot participate in the vote

at tonight's Tribal Council."

I think everyone's still distracted.

But I'm not the best at following directions.

And I'm like, "Where would this key be?

Where would this key be?"

I'm just at a point of desperation.

Oh, MC.

All of a sudden, Savannah pulls up.

- Looking for a key. - Oh, nice.

Do you know there's one here?

There might be.

When someone walks in on you clearly looking

for something, to lie would be stupid.

So I tell her I'm looking for a key.

- Do you want some help? - Um, sure.

- What's everyone else doing? - Well, I wanted to let the guys

have, like, alone time.

Jawan is, like, just super emotional.

And, like, also, he's, like, the only one

who hasn't won a reward.

Savannah's scary, man.

Like, she's trying to get that key first.

She doesn't even know what the key goes to.

But now, imagine

my surprise and my anger

when I see a ring of keys,

a hundred keys or more.

And I have to figure out which key fits

into the treasure chest with Savannah breathing,

huffing and puffing over my shoulder

the entire time.

I figured

y'all were probably gonna go for me

since Sophie got immunity.

Honestly, MC, like, I'm down to work with you.

I don't know if I believe that.

Okay.

I stay as long as I can to make it

as awkward as possible.

But then I'm like, "Wait. Okay, let's not be a psycho."

Like, maybe I can use this chest as almost like

an olive branch between us.

Look, I know you're trying to do this.

Can I have, like, literally, 60 seconds?

- For sure. Of course. - Can you look at me?

- What's up? - Watch.

When we were on the old Uli tribe...

- Mm-hmm. - the guys were more of a thing.

- Mm-hmm. - And me and Sophi were on our own

- for a lot of the time. - Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

So when you got brought into the mix,

- Mm-hmm. - I was genuinely...

I'm trying to focus,

make sure I don't try a key twice.

Savannah is just talking in my ear, trying to talk strategies.

But I don't trust Savannah.

She is so intense.

There's a gleam in her eyes.

It's a little evil, like...

Like, eyes wide.

I don't believe her at all,

but I do want her

to feel like I'm on her side.

I'm willing to work with y'all.

I can tell MC is kind of

just saying whatever she needs to say

to make me feel at ease, and I'm like, "All right."

When we got back to camp,

the first thing I see is Rizo sit down

ideally, I would love for Rizo or Savannah to go home.

But Rizo has an idol.

He potentially could play it for himself, or he could

play his idol for Savannah,

because they are very close.

Rizo's gonna play it for Savannah,

so we just have to make sure.

They're not gonna be expecting

So now I know where the two idols are,

and I can take it from anyone.

But it's crucial that nobody finds out

that I have this advantage

because it could really hurt my game.

The problem is, this plan has changed

three, four, five times in the last two hours.

It's changing every single moment,

and you're playing this extremely complicated game

of telephone, and you're just praying that the name

you get at the very end is the same name

everyone else is gonna write down,

because if we're not on the same page,

we don't have the majority number of votes,

and I'm going home.

If this is your first time at Tribal, grab a torch,

dip it in and get fire.

This is part of the ritual at Tribal Council,

because in this game, fire represents your life.

And when your fire is gone,

sadly, so are you.

As always at Tribal,

that's gonna be the case for somebody.

So let's just dig into it.

We know the merge means we're in the individual part of the game.

Steven, what does that mean

in terms of how it changes the game?

Yeah, you know, I think that this is an opportunity

for a lot of us to form new relationships,

but I do think that we all sense

that there is some sort of camaraderie

with the people that you started the game with.

What's interesting is

that we've had three different swaps already,

so we've had a lot of cross-pollination

with people from different tribes.

Alex, it's really interesting

what Steven's bringing up because

it's the definition of what is a tribe.

If you just go with original color, that's one thing.

But with two swaps this season,

who knows where the real lines fall?

Yeah, I think this is a new start.

But the fact is that

people might still be sticking with their tribemates

from the original tribes.

And so, you think you have the numbers

and you have it all lined up,

but you can't be so sure.

I think some of us are just gonna be shocked

at the end of the night, you know?

It's blindside after blindside after blindside

out here on Survivor.

So, Jawan, given there are so many

different ways you could approach tonight,

how did you approach this afternoon?

For me, personally, I like scary movies.

Do you like scary movies?

- Sure. - Yeah.

For me, I feel like this merge, it's kind of

like a horror film, you know? It's like, "Anybody but me."

So you're checking in on different relationships,

making sure your name

isn't the first one on that kill list.

-Sage. - Oh, God.

What do think about Jawan's idea

of trying to survive a horror movie?

The monster's loose,

and you don't want the monster to eat you.

Yeah, honestly, big groups are my version

of a horror movie in general.

And it's hard because

there's been three tribe swaps at this point.

And so, I think tonight is really,

like, everyone trying to get clarity and reassurance

on, like, "Where are the lines?"

And I think tonight will definitely

shake up the game moving forward, I think.

Rizo, what I'm gathering is

that there are tons of different stories and opportunities.

Yeah, Jeff. And for me,

I feel like I was the talk of the town today,

Jeff, because I have a hidden immunity idol.

So it is common knowledge for everybody at this point,

and I'm willing to share it and embrace it.

Sophie, Rizo talks about

this idol that he has that everybody knows about.

How much talk is there right now

about either idols or advantages that can be in the game?

I think there's a lot of talk.

We know that Rizo has an idol.

We also know that maybe there is one still on Kele.

Maybe there was one found on Hina.

So, if you don't have the numbers,

you've got to pray you have an advantage or an idol.

Jeff, you know,

I actually kind of always wanted this moment.

So we'll play a little show-and-tell.

So, I do have it with me.

Uh, I'm gonna be truthfully honest

with my approach.

I want to live another day in this game.

Whether I'm the vote or not tonight,

I do plan on playing it.

Whether it's for myself or not, who knows?

We'll have to wait and find out.

But I think

I'm wearing red for the sentiment

- that blood will be drawn tonight. - Whoa.

I just don't know who the hell is gonna go home.

I think people who felt

uncertain will feel a little bit more certain

in their place in the game, and I think

people who are outside of the vote

will kind of know where they stand.

Until you put pen to paper,

you really don't know who your allies are.

- if you're on the wrong side of the vote. -Yeah.

Yeah, I think this vote

is going to definitely let you know

or at least let me know

who I can trust going forward.

the merge really is where you forge a career.

If you're gonna be a great player, it happens now.

I think so, and you alluded

to Survivor 50 and what that could mean.

I would be lying if I said that wasn't in my head.

This is definitely a point

where any of us can feel empowered to make a big move,

and the next day is never guaranteed.

People who you trusted on day one,

as all of us are gonna have different agendas going forward.
