The two people that seem to be on the bottom of the tribe

are, obviously, the two Uli members.

And when the time comes, are we gonna go with Sage

or are we gonna go with Shannon?

Yeah.

There's a war between Hina and Uli brewing.

And the fact that Uli has majority

in this tribe,

we have the opportunity to strike first.

But yeah.

I'm, like, so thankful to still be here.

I, like, hope that we kick ass

that I get to live another day in this game.

But the truth of the matter is,

and my name was written down.

So no matter how much Uli wants to say tribal lines

have dissolved, they clearly haven't,

because the only people that got votes

were old Hina.

So I have a lot of work to do.

Dude, seriously, like, I feel freaking good.

My alliance is solid.

We are in the majority big-time here on this beach.

And we got to get rid of one of the old Hina.

I have nothing to worry about.

I'm living the Survivor dream.

It does not get better than this right now.

We did not start a war tonight.

You know who started the war was the old Hina tribe

every time they did that stupid

"Hina, Hina" chant.

Like, how are we expected

to work with people who are so tightly bonded?

You literally gave us no choice.

What else were we supposed to do?

So, if we end up going to another Tribal Council,

from my point of view, Jason's got to go.

I'm laying under the stars,

and I'm just doing my best

to not overthink the situation.

Naturally, being on the bottom

of this new Kele tribe,

I'm in this self-preservation mode.

And this idea kind of comes to me of sorts.

We go into a merge, right?

- Mm-hmm. - Two yellow, two red, two blue.

Mm.

Super unexpected.

What I came up with was

this idea of

two Uli, two Hina,

and two Kele--

a core six to work together

to keep each other's names

out of the rotation.

I feel you.

Naturally, Steven likes this idea because it's a great idea.

And I could see us just taking out the big threats.

Shannon rolls over and starts spitting game at me.

And I'm like, "Dude, I know we don't have coffee,

but could I get some coffee before we start doing this?"

Of course I'm gonna say yes.

You don't say no to an alliance, but...

it just was so early.

And she's playing so hard.

Right now I'm excited that the game is starting,

but I just wasn't expecting it to slap me in the face

as soon as I woke up.

- We're in a really good spot. - Yeah.

- We can grab our ones, come together, and kind of... - Yeah.

I am. No, I want us to survive this.

The love language in Survivor is talking strategy.

And so, as I'm starting to talk to these players,

I'm recognizing, "Oh, like, you've been waiting for this.

"You've been wanting, like, a juicy

piece of steak to get a part of, right?"

And that feels good in the game.

- Even if we get rid of Sage first. - Yeah.

- I mean, you have to do what you have to do to stay in. - Exactly, no, and...

Right now, I'm doing my best to have conversations

and connecting with people

in a really authentic way.

doing my best to keep my strategic pants on.

I'm definitely down

to vote out Sage if that's, if that's necessary,

because I love her, but just, strategically,

she's never really given that much to me.

I definitely would say

we're making progress.

-That conversation this morning sketched me out. -Yeah.

I was like, "Shannon, like, I just woke up."

Right?

And she's, like, scheming so hard.

And, like, she even opened up. She's like, "I don't want it

- to sound like I'm scheming too hard." - Yeah.

She said, "But I get really, really good vibes from you."

- Mm-hmm. - I feel like that's something she'd say to everybody.

Yeah. She's talking to everybody.

And, like, she just dominates conversations in a way

that's so, like, disarming with all the spirituality stuff.

Like, she's a good talker.

- She's thinking so far ahead. - Yeah.

I do get that vibe from her, too.

Shannon-- it seems like she's a good game player.

I actually admire it a little bit

'cause it's kind of like how I want to play.

But that's not someone

that I want to have against me in the future.

I just wanted to see, like, how you're feeling about things.

- And... - I'm feeling good. Um...

Are you getting good vibes from, like, anyone in particular?

Yeah, I mean, obviously, Shannon and Alex

have been really good.

But the only person that's, like,

- talked game to me so far has been Shannon. -Yeah.

Emotionally, I really connect

with Shannon.

I do think she's being

so genuine with me.

And I really like her.

But I'm also realizing, with talking

with my alliance, that Shannon is playing the game hard.

And people are starting to maybe question it a little bit.

I want to fight for her so much.

But at the same time,

I really need to take inventory

of my gut versus my emotions.

Oh, this is so hard.

Tribal Council was a wake-up call to me.

Right now my torch

is the only yellow torch

on this beach that is supposed to be yellow.

So, as the one person

on the outs,

the ball's in my court

to change the game.

Because I'm between a rock and a hard place

and another rock and another hard place and another rock.

It's hard to build bonds with people

who you've just met, you know?

It feels like the first vote--

it's more about, like,

- like, what you are, not who you are. -Yeah.

My plan

is to erase Tribal lines

in order to break

the us-versus-them mentality of Hina versus Uli.

I want to start making personal connections to see

which ones stick.

continuing to work through this game.

Jason is in trouble

only because he got dealt a bad hand.

But I'm not ruling Jason out because

if this Uli-Hina war ends,

I want to have potential allies moving forward.

I'm kind of like the easy next

if people don't want to do anything.

I really just want to work forward

with, like, people that I can trust.

But, like, right now, on this current tribe,

For the past, like, week or so,

I've been, like, taking her bag by accident.

Honestly, Jawan was at the bottom.

This new Kele tribe,

it's been a roller coaster, as Survivor is.

Like, I see Shannon doing her thing.

How you feeling today?

I just want you to know,

you're the exact kind of person I wanted to work with.

- Like, I feel like we... - I can literally see their mouths moving

from a mile away.

And that's exactly how

she talks to everybody else.

Shannon very much has an approach of finding

something you value

and then going hard into that thing

in every conversation with you.

And, I mean, she's laying it on thick

and leaning into, like, whatever she knows is gonna

make them feel comfortable and safe and good and seen.

she's definitely that shark that, like,

starts off as, like, maybe a cute seal.

And then the seal rips its mask off,

and it's a giant shark that's, like, going to eat your head.

Like, it's not a seal.

Everybody else sees a seal, and I'm trying to be like,

"Guys, it's a freaking shark.

Do you see the fin on the back?"

Like, it's so obvious,

but try and play the long game here.

The first person who started

talking strategy to me was Shannon.

and was willing to work with her,

but the fact that Steven is cluing me in to Shannon talking

I feel very clearly

on the bottom of this tribe.

That boat is, potentially,

my ticket back into a safe spot in this game.

If I had any sort of advantage

that this boat could bring me,

I can do it.

I'm good with, I'm good with MC doing it.

Thankfully, the Hina tribe

agreed that MC would be the one to go.

She's my number one.

She's gonna tell me everything.

But my biggest fear is that

she could come back with no vote.

And she already doesn't have a vote until she digs up

the Beware Advantage and finds step two.

She could be without two votes.

"One person must get on this boat.

You will return to camp this afternoon."

- All right. Sweet. - It's a journey.

I kind of want to go.

Of course, Jason wants to go.

I love Jason, but if he goes on this journey,

there's a chance that he can come back

with a idol or an advantage

and really blow this whole tribe up.

- I'd also like to go. -Yeah.

I'll give it a whirl. What do we want to do?

Yes.

Savannah and Nate

both volunteer for the journey.

So now we have to figure out

which one of the three is gonna go.

- How we want to do this? Rocks? -Yeah, so...

Yeah, yeah, we can do that.

To ensure that Jason won't be able to go on the journey,

I come up with this plan

to basically do rocks.

There's two black rocks and only one white rock.

I put the white rock on top,

and I make sure Nate goes first.

Reach in.

-All right. -White rock goes.

Grab a rock.

Oh.

So the good thing is, Jason's not going on the journey.

The bad thing is, Nate is going on the journey.

I came into this game not wanting to go on journeys,

because I do think they also put targets on your back.

And a lot of journeys have the potential to lose your vote.

It is a risk, but there's part of you

as a fan of Survivor to go,

"Look, it's an experience I get to have." So...

You just have to kick it in and go.

How are you?

I see MC.

And we immediately exchange pleasantries

and give each other a big hug.

But it's a little bit like two boxers sizing each other up.

We are on the opposite sides

of what could be construed

as a Hina-Uli conflict.

- Wow. - Yeah.

the first shot at the OG Hina tribe.

So, now, lines are drawn.

Oh, no, I see some heavy bags.

Oh, no.

We walk up, and

I see this pile

of sandbags waiting for us.

And I'm like, "This isn't what I wanted."

And there's a note there.

"Let's start with something simple.

"You must work together to move these sandbags

"from one location to another,

"before the timer runs out.

"If you succeed,

"you each keep your vote at your next Tribal Council.

If you fail, you both lose your vote."

Damn, Jeff.

- Whoa. - That's crazy.

- Whoa. -I just know

it's gonna suck.

All right, let's go.

Oh, my God.

I pick up that first sandbag,

and I'm like, "Whoa, this is heavy."

This is a very daunting task.

It has to be, like, a hundred sandbags.

Oh, man, there's a lot of these.

Like, it is layers

on top of layers on top of layers.

I feel like this may be

one of the hardest things that I've ever done in my life.

- You got it, Nate. - You got it, too.

If we don't finish the sandbags

before the hourglass runs out, we both lose our vote.

So we have to work together.

I already don't have a vote

because I haven't finished my Beware Advantage,

and now it's like I'm fighting for my vote again.

So I cannot leave here without a vote.

You look at that pile

of sandbags and you go, "There's no way we're gonna do it."

It's just too big.

But how do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

Steady pace.

- Yeah. Yep. - Not a slow pace, but a steady pace.

We agreed to go at a relatively moderate pace,

but MC sets a pace that

is way beyond what I was thinking.

She is a beast.

I felt like I was trying to chase after the Terminator,

and I knew that I couldn't keep up.

But I did want

to use this as a bonding moment.

What's one fun fact about MC?

I'm Nigerian.

Oh, nice.

Yeah, my parents are from Nigeria.

So in giving MC fun facts,

what I'm trying to do

is make myself a person and not a target.

- I'm a father of two. - Nice.

I love being a dad.

I'm a stay-at-home dad right now.

And part of it was just to keep my mind off of how much

I was suffering,

because all I want to do is take a nap.

getting these sandbags to the other side,

when I realize that, "Hey,

there's a box underneath."

that there is an advantage hidden

in the jungle,

and if one person finds that advantage,

must finish the rest of the sandbags

or lose their votes.

Immediately, I realize

if it's a race to find something in those woods,

I am going to lose.

MC is just fitter than me.

So I need to come up with a rationale that she will buy

that makes sure that,

at the least, I keep my vote.

Can I make you a deal?

Let's finish most of them and leave one bag, 'cause...

We still have to finish the sandbags, no matter what.

- Exactly. So then we have a little time to look. - Okay.

So I pitch to MC,

we finish almost all of this challenge,

and whatever time left, we can go look for the advantage.

That way, we're both guaranteed to have our vote.

- Get 'em... - Sounds good. All right, cool.

- All right, deal. Let's do it. - I love that.

- I love that. -She bought it.

And I was relieved.

We would just get more tired scrambling.

Exactly.

So we continue to grind.

And, finally,

there's one left.

We take it three-quarters of the way,

and then we decide to look

for the advantage.

- Let's do it. - Good luck. Let's find it.

I don't want the advantage.

I know that advantages

come with having targets on your back.

But I certainly don't want MC to have it, either.

I realize I'm not

gonna find it, and I know

the longer she's out there, the better

her odds are of finding it.

There's a lot of sand left in that timer,

but I want this to be over.

What?

We're running out of time!

When Nate calls me back, I look at the hourglass timer.

If you want to keep looking,

I can stay and watch. I just didn't want to risk it.

Looks like there's still

a good amount of time to search.

So I'm thinking, "Does Nate have

some ulterior motive?"

It's hard to tell, but my brain is not working.

At the very least, I still have my vote,

I look back at the sandbags, and I'm like,

"I just did that.

Like, I just did that."

And that's what I came here to do, to do hard things.

And when I was younger, I was so

self-conscious about my body image.

Like, I was too muscular.

Kids, like, bullied me and teased me when I was younger.

Like, I felt I should make myself smaller.

I should

wear long sleeves, so that people can't see, like,

my biceps, and...

I look back on how I felt, and I'm so glad

of how far I've come now

to be proud of my muscles

and be proud of how strong I am.

And I just think, like,

in the end, I didn't give up.

And I'm glad

that I didn't let those bullies

take that life and that fight out of me.

So we pull up to this beach,

and there's a bunch of sandbags.

So, MC comes back and tells us about the journey.

So we finished right on time,

- and I'm so tired. -Thank God.

But when Shannon was off doing something, it was just

me and the other five.

Now is the time to strike.

If you're looking at the numbers here,

it's former Hina strong,

and I'm really hoping to work with former Hina.

So I want to use this opportunity

to continue building that rapport and trust,

so they'll take me further in the game.

Now that I have you all here,

a shot has been taken at Hina at last Tribal Council.

- Yeah. -And I think,

obviously, it would be smart to take a shot at Uli.

-Yeah. -And so this is me

trying to, like, prove to you

that, like, I'm with you,

- and I want to work with you. -Yeah.

Rizo has the advantage.

Basically, you lose your vote until you lose a challenge.

So since he lost his challenge last night,

I would bet money that Rizo has an idol.

The task is similar to the task that I have

for my own Beware Advantage.

So I know this girl is telling the truth.

This definitely tips the scale towards Sage

when it comes to if we need to vote someone off.

I'd rather keep Sage than Shannon.

And it sounds like Sage wants to truly work with us,

so I want to work with her.

I-I have felt zero cracks.

In terms of where Shannon and I stand,

I still feel like

there's a part of her that sees me as this wounded puppy

that just needs encouragement and needs reassurance

so that I won't suspect anything,

and I won't play my Shot in the Dark.

I got a couple zits that I'm like,

My relationship with Sage

doesn't feel that different from Uli.

It's a lot of fun conversations.

All I know is that when I talk to her,

it's not super strategic.

We pull up, and we get out and greet each other.

And we see table with an hourglass

So I quickly get into the story of what happened.

There's no advantage. It literally was just, like,

- you either both keep your vote - What?!

or you both lose your vote.

- It was no upside? -No.

It was only downside.

And the good news is, it seems like everybody believes it.

That's crazy, man.

So, ultimately, I do think the journey was a success.

And the other part

that was the success from the beginning, as soon

as I got on that boat,

to shoot balls in very tall baskets.

that I can gauge a season

by how it impacts me.

This is one of the hottest times I can remember

ever being in Survivor.

I'm exhausted at the end of the day,

and I'm fully fed and sleeping.

But when you're playing Survivor, it can be brutal.

Savannah, do you feel that?

I'm sorry.

And, like, it's crazy because I've only gone,

like, a few days without flint.

It's, like, when we go back to camp,

we're gonna have, literally, coconuts.

And some people on this tribe are at the point where

they've only eaten coconuts for ten days.

They literally cannot stomach coconut anymore.

I'm kind of going a little delusional

'cause of the heat and the hunger and the exhaustion.

But regardless of how I'm feeling,

with O.G. Hina, so, this Tribal Council is pivotal.

That is crazy.

I'm deathly afraid of birds, but deep down,

For my whole life, I've honestly been made fun of

They think that I'm not tough enough.

They think that I'm not strong enough.

To all those people who have made comments

about how soft I am,

are you guys killing chickens on Survivor?

My roommate's dog got ahold of a rat,

It's been emotional, but there was never a question

in any of our minds that we had to eat that chicken.

We just emptied our tanks

and then some.

And so, the idea that we would, like,

maybe just eat coconut and snails tonight

after that challenge, which, like,

wrung me dry,

is crazy.

- That's the first real-tasting food. - Wow.

And so to get something like a chicken,

that is going to give us a huge advantage

over the other tribe.

It was a good try, honestly. It's, like, I feel everyone,

like, really gave it their all out there.

I don't know. I just have...

I have, like, no gas left in my tank.

And it's only day ten.

So is this your fifth time at Tribal now?

I've gone to every single Tribal Council.

And I think the game has been the hardest for me so far.

- Mm-hmm. -This feeling

is frustrating right now because

all I want to do is play as hard as I can.

But I just have no energy to do it.

But luckily, I've worked pretty hard in the last

couple days to establish relationships

that'll probably keep me safe tonight.

Game plan for tonight?

Yeah, I don't want him to play his Shot in the Dark tonight.

I might actually go down right now, actually,

By eliminating Jason,

And going into a potential "merge," that's a game-changer.

We have the majority,

and we can kind of dictate where this game goes.

- Yeah. - And every conversation we've had has been

- 100% genuine. - Yeah.

Honestly, I like the kid.

I don't want it to be a war,

but these are the hands that we were dealt.

I don't want this game to be black and white, you know?

'Cause, like, honestly, I feel like...

That's sort of, like, where my head is at, and maybe we can

So my goal is to continue to make him feel comfortable

so he doesn't play that Shot in the Dark.

This is, honestly, almost good news

- for us at the merge. - Yeah.

On paper, Jason is the obvious vote tonight.

It would be numbers,

former Uli versus Hina.

Worst case scenario, he plays the Shot in the Dark.

I am seriously considering

writing Jawan's name down.

Because if we get rid of Jason,

I fear that the former Hina

are gonna think that we are targeting their whole tribe.

They're gonna worry that we are starting this war.

And that's not what I want, because ultimately, I think

we do have to work with the former Hina tribe

in order to make it far and to the end of this game.

I mean, how do you feel

about where the game is at right now?

I do not want this to be a tribe-versus-tribe thing,

- 'cause that's stupid. - Yes.

I didn't come out here to play a freaking six v. six game.

If I wanted to do that, I would have stayed home

I think you're honestly in a great position,

and I think you might have more power than you realize.

So in talking to Jason, I want him to feel like

I actually am willing to work with him, because, honestly,

I am willing to work with him.

You have so much power because

you're in a totally different position.

None of us have any connection with the Hina tribe.

You are the only one who has that.

I could see my game opening up if I work with Jason.

that I can be sort of, like, the bridge

What Savannah made me realize is that I am

the sole thread that connects

new Hina with old Hina.

I'm also worried that we're gonna set ourselves up

'Cause here's what I thought as you all were leaving.

"There is no way everybody can go back to camp

"and immediately start strategizing.

what you're all feeling

to your best friend in a way that they might understand?

Absolutely not.

It is this level of exhaustion

that normal people will never, ever have to experience.

Most people don't operate on an empty stomach.

Most people aren't operating with very little sleep.

Most people are not operating from a state of paranoia.

And it's hard because you know that you have

to have these important conversations,

but how can you even think about strategizing

when your brain is literally just mush?

Jason, what do you say to somebody that says,

"The 26-day game? Eh.

"It's not tough enough, man.

That's not Survivor"?

Anyone who says that, I want to know

how many days they have done this.

Like, I want to see your receipts,

because until you're here, you, like,

don't know what this is.

Jawan, it sounds like, right now, on day ten,

So, being in this situation

with everybody in a group scenario,

I think sometimes when I hear other people talk,

I'm like, "Yo, they're so well-spoken."

And I just feel like

sometimes I'm hard on myself.

Rizo, Survivor is not designed to break you,

but it's designed to get you at that point

where Jawan is now questioning, "Am I even a good communicator?

I don't know anymore."

You know, Jeff, I'm not

this great communicator myself,

but you kind of play compare and contrast sometimes.

And it's not only in the game.

It's personally. It's like, "Wow, like,

"this person is making that person laugh a lot.

Like, am I not funny?"

"Like, wow, this person is providing for people.

Am I not doing that?" So, Survivor does

this weird thing to your brain where it's like,

"I might not be playing the best game,

but, like, I might not be the best person."

So just kind of segueing back to Jawan...

You always say, "Apply, get out of the couch."

The first thing you have to do is have confidence to apply,

let alone be here,

because this is not easy, coming out here.

- Well said. -Beautiful.

- Man, Uncle Jeff, that was fire. - Beautiful.

Jawan, maybe you should question if you're well-spoken.

Now you see what I'm talking about?

How... What do I even say?

Jason, one of the things

about Survivor, for everybody who plays,

there are gonna be highs and lows.

You think you're in charge. You're not.

You think you're in trouble. You are.

So what are you proud of?

Jeff, there are so many ways that, like,

Survivor tests you as a person.

Like, physically, at the challenge today.

Like, emotionally,

like, spiritually.

I'm, like, so proud

that I haven't given up in, like,

any of those situations.

And I want to make sure that

if it is me tonight, that I go home fighting.

So, does that mean you're still feeling

that you are on the out because of the yellow Buff

you started this game with?

As much as I can trust

the people that I've made these bonds with,

it's naive

to feel safe in this game, ever.

Savannah, every time you have a vote,

especially when we're still in the tribe stage,

it's about value.

What do the people that remain

have of value?

Did you have those discussions?

Of course, and it would be silly not to have those discussions

and consider every potential outcome

of tonight's vote, right?

So, Jason's pitch, so to speak,

going into this is, he is a former Hina.

He knows people who are on the other side, so to speak.

He can actually help us down the line.

Jawan, did you have any discussions

with Jason about what he might offer?

Yeah, man. When I look at Jason,

it's like we're cut from the same cloth.

You know, we got the glasses, we talk about Pokémon.

So it's hard not to want to talk to my guy, you know?

So even though he's on "the bottom,"

there's moments, if I'm being honest,

where I felt like I was on the bottom.

So when I see him, I see a mirror of me.

What makes you feel like

you're on the bottom?

Day two, I had an emotional day,

and I was struggling to make fire.

Something about the pressure of being in this environment

with new people, it's just that paranoia

and kind of, you know, that small doubt

that sometimes creeps into everybody's head.

And that made me feel like I was on the bottom, you know?

It's crept into your head twice, just tonight at Tribal Council.

Yeah. Thank you for reminding me, Uncle Jeff. Yeah.

But yeah, that happened legit eight days ago,

and I'm still holding on to that.

And I'm trying to let go,

but it's something that eats away at me a little bit.

Well, maybe this will help you let go. Nate,

when somebody talks about self-doubt too much,

does it become something that the other tribe members

listen to and say, "Maybe he's right,

maybe he's who we should get rid of"?

It certainly can. I mean, I think

when you want to build an alliance with anybody,

you want that person in your alliance

to be as confident as you are in the relationship.

But I also know Jawan well enough now, ten days in,

to go, "He's a sweet kid. That was one moment."

Like, none of us are perfect people.

I think we've all had these moments.

And if you can't be honest out here,

you're toast.

So, Sophi,

is it possible that what's happening with this group--

and maybe it's happening

with the other tribe, as well-- is that

when you start revealing your vulnerabilities to each other,

then you say, "Look, I'm open. You're getting to know me"?

That can be very bonding.

For sure. I mean, we've all bonded in just two days.

I can't imagine what they're doing over there.

And I think the phases

in Survivor are kind of like waves.

You know, rough for some, calm for others.

But for every Survivor player,

there's a certain point where a tsunami comes.

And I think the stronger players-- they... they swim.

They swim to the shore, and, you know,

they get a piña colada and a beach party.

And the weaker players-- they drown.

And I think when this war comes,

the stronger players will survive.

And so, we'll see what happens today--

who drowns and who survives.
