I am so crazy for Naked and Afraid.
There's absolutely no fan out there
who knows more about Naked and Afraid han I do.
I admin True Fans on Facebook,
on The Official Unofficial fan group page.
I think everyone knows Ernie.
He's one of the biggest Naked and Afraid ans out there.
There's fans, there's super fans,
and then there's Ernie.
I have three bags.
I have watched every episode multiple, multiple times.
Guess what I'm watching?
I've met them. I went on the aked and Afraid cruise.
I've met Ernie on a few different occasions.
And he is the nicest person.
His love for the show
shines through in every encounter.
What I am is a fan who embraces the culture.
It's not about just watching a show.
It's not a show.
This is a way of life.
- All right... - Don't die.
"Don't die."
I can't believe this is real.
I can't believe this is actually happening.
I can't believe I'm actually gonna do this.
Here I am, made it to Mexico.
God, I feel like my heart is beating in my chest.
My advice for Ernie
is you look back and those hardest moments
are all going to be worth it.
Push through and enjoy the ride.
This is your chance to go from armchair QB
to a legend like me.
You got this, Ernie.
This is your chance to join the club, buddy.
You got this.
Man.
I can't believe this is happening.
Wearing this necklace and doing this right now
feels insane.
These people
are hardcore.
When I first saw this show,
I was
instantly drawn to it.
I knew that this show was made
for crazy people like me.
This is insane.
Just the concept
of being stripped down from everything.
I like the idea of growth
and expansion and challenging yourself.
That's why I decided
to become a personal trainer. It was
because I didn't touch a weight
until I was 36 years old.
I was lost.
I was depressed and fitness changed my life.
It made me confident, made me strong.
And I wanted to be able to make people feel that way.
I'm nervous.
You're nervous? Why?
I want to be able to show my daughters
that I can do this.
Being in the military, in the Marine Corps,
I was a combat engineer.
When we were in Iraq, we had to fix the roads
that were destroyed by IEDs.
Those were all huge challenges.
And this show is one big challenge.
And it's something that I truly believe that I am built for.
But as excited as I am,
I'm not even naked.
And I'm already kind of afraid.
If I'm being a little honest.
Like, this is real.
Just looking around and seeing the thorns.
There's jaguars, pumas.
There are some lethal spiders.
Like, it literally feels
insane.
But 14 days in the Yucatan Peninsula,
like, let's do it.
We're here. It's game time.
Mandy begins this 14-day fan challenge
with a primitive survival rating of 4.6 out of 10.
Honestly, being naked is the least of my concerns.
Take my clothes and keep them.
But I'm very nervous about my partner.
All right, I'm off to go meet my jungle friend.
I can't believe I'm doing this.
This is absolutely insane.
This is my token shirt here.
I hang it on the wall at home.
Matt Garland was my first signature.
I got Kat Sibley.
I got a few more on the cruise.
And it hasn't been washed in three years.
So, yeah, I'm not doing it any favors today.
And here comes my boy, Matt.
When I first watched Naked and Afraid,
I thought these people are out of their minds.
Yeah!
And then I started learning more about bushcraft,
learning more about survival.
Pretty close. Not bad for an amateur.
You know, I was in the Army for almost 30 years.
I was a police officer.
And I realized that this is something I can do.
These are my people.
But, you know, I feel a little bit like Toto.
I'm not in Arkansas anymore.
Bugs are everywhere.
Tarantulas, scorpions, bats.
But, you know, hey, what's life without a little adventure?
Let's do this.
Ernie begins his challenge
with a primitive survival rating of 4.9.
I am not a naked person.
I am not a nudist.
But,
I am absolutely gonna do 14 days.
Okay.
This is crazy.
How many of y'all out there that are fans?
This is our moment.
This is what we do together. So, here we go.
I am definitely glad
that I've been walking without shoes
for a hot duration of time,
because it is super rough
and everything is really thick.
All right, Naked and Afraid.
Super pumped for this.
Let's get it started.
-Hi. -Hey there.
- My God. - I'm coming.
This is crazy. How are you?
I'm good. How are you?
I'm Mandy. I'm Ernie.
- What's your name? - Ernie.
- Ernie. Nice to meet you. - Yeah. Like the Muppet.
- My gosh. Are you excited? - Good to meet you.
I'm stoked. I'm stoked.
- Me too. - I... This is,
like, I've been a true fan for forever.
I am all over the Facebook pages.
Are you on any... Do you follow any of the Facebook pages?
You're ahead of it more than I am.
I actually just saw my first episode last year.
But the second I saw it,
I was like, "How do we get on this?"
And here we are.
- I'm excited. - I am. I am. I'm stoked.
- I'm stoked. - Awesome.
- Awesome. Well, Ernie... - This has been like Christmas...
you're my jungle friend for 14 days.
- We got it, right? - And we're gonna do this together.
- We got it. We got it. - All right.
- We're amped. - All right.
Where's the bags here?
- Um... - Um,
right here.
- Okay. Cool. Cool. - Right here on the side of the tree.
Okay. Which one is...
Um...
- They don't matter. - Just grab one.
- Okay. - Okay.
- Here we go. - All right.
So...
All right.
All right.
It's amazing having this bag on.
Um, I think I have three bags already.
Wow.
I have Matt Garland's arrow
that he took to Africa up on my wall.
I have E.J.'s survival kit
- up on my wall. - My gosh.
Um, yeah. Like I said, I got these bags.
They're all in my office up on a wall.
It's...
- Well... - It's not a shrine, but...
No, it's a shrine. Yeah.
I'll bow down to the shrine.
- I got a lot. - Well, I'm excited to find out what you have.
What did you bring?
Okay. So, I have
my recurve bow and arrow.
- Okay. - All right. So, what do you have?
Okay. Um, before I show you...
Let me explain.
- Don't get mad. - Okay.
Um, I brought dental floss.
All right.
Oral hygiene, it's important.
- It is important. - We can use it as like...
Are you a hygienist?
I am.
- So, it's just... - Makes sense.
And we can use it for cordage and all of those things.
But I'm just kidding. I got a machete.
Thank God.
You were probably
- about to lose it. - You know what? I was like, "Okay."
See, I say I'm a team player
- and you really... - Your face, you were like,
- "I'm trying to be nice. I'm trying to be nice." - Okay.
All right.
- We are good. We are good. - All right. Awesome. Yeah.
- That's what I'm talking about. - Okay. Awesome.
All right.
And it looks like we also have this pot.
And then we have a fire starter.
- Boom. Boom. - Fantastic. I'll carry that.
And it looks like
I have the map.
- Okay. We are here. - We are here.
- And day 14 is here. - Yep.
So, it looks like we're gonna want to go here.
- For our water source. - Yeah. It looks like this is water.
So, there's a little water here.
- Okay. - That could be the opening of a cave.
And a cave is a huge bonus
if we don't actually need to build a shelter.
- Yeah. Well, I mean... - I don't know.
- It looks like we're gonna find out here shortly? - Yeah. Absolutely.
- So, okay. - Yeah. Yeah, it does. It looks like that.
All right.
- Let's get this party started, Ernie. - Yeah. Yeah.
- Let's get it going. - Okay.
To begin their 14-day fan challenge,
Mandy and Ernie will head four miles southwest
through Mexico's rugged northern Yucatan Peninsula,
a brutal terrain of dense jungle
and razor-sharp limestone rocks.
In the summer, blistering triple-digit heat
gives way to violent tropical storms
that strike without warning.
Beneath the dense canopy,
there are predatory puma,
venomous spiders,
rabies-carrying vampire bats,
and the highly aggressive cottonmouth,
a deadly threat on both water and land.
Okay.
Here we go.
Whoo.
Okay. So this stone's a little sharp.
- Sharp stones, got it. - Little bit. Little bit.
Careful.
Jesus Christ. There's rocks everywhere.
Yeah. They're everywhere.
You read about how
there's no rivers and it's all limestone.
Yeah. This is it.
And you're like, "Wow. Holy."
This is it.
My first impressions of Ernie are awesome.
His energy, like, he is so excited.
Um, I love the fact that he is, like, a super fan.
So remind me, have you seen every episode?
- I have. - My gosh.
Okay, there's some more stones coming up.
- Awesome. - Yeah.
- They're not comfortable. - Got you. Thank you.
I'm glad you're pointing out the rocks and stuff. So...
- Yeah, yeah, trying. - Yeah, go, team. So...
Mandy and I are getting along really well right now.
And, wow, I know it's the honeymoon phase,
but I'm pretty happy.
That hurt.
- You good? - Yep.
Okay.
How far do you think we are?
I think we've done at least a couple of miles in.
Is that a cave?
- Holy. - That's a cave.
- Awesome. - That's a cave.
I'm a little nervous.
A cave can be a really good win
because it provides us shelter.
We're out of the elements.
It'll protect us. It'll help us keep in heat.
I don't know, 'cause it's, like, inside caves are bats
and spiders and snakes
and whatever wants to hang out in there.
What was that sound?
- Did you hear something? - I sure did.
Could have been bats.
Most bats will run away.
I'm not 100% against down here.
I'm worried that as the sun goes down,
it's just, we're gonna run out of time exponentially.
No, you're right. I'm gonna look. I'm gonna look.
- Yeah. - I'm at least gonna look.
We'll have to burn it out
and that'll get rid of the bugs
- and stuff that are in there. - Yeah. That's true.
And it even looks like it has its own little
conduit system over here of water collection.
On the map, it looked like
- there was a little bit of blue. - Blue, right?
- Yeah. - Yeah.
I think I can see it.
Yeah. I see it.
- There's water. - See?
All right, well, we've got our water source.
We're gonna need some light.
We're definitely gonna need some fire
to ward off the predators.
Okay, here we go.
Moment of...
Starting fire was something that I did not know how to do,
and it was something that I really tried hard
to be able to do to be able to apply for the show.
And so my biggest fear is, like,
practicing making fire
and then it not working out.
Right there.
It's right there.
I just want it to light so bad.
I need something dry.
Where is it at?
She'll get it. She'll get it. I'm not worried about it.
There we go.
My bag is damn near full.
You got stuff. Okay.
I got a bird's nest here.
- You found a nest? - Yeah.
Okay.
That is good on you, my friend.
We got it.
Got it, Ernie!
Yeah, girl.
Good job.
There you go.
Good.
It's getting pretty smoky in here.
Yeah, you ain't lying.
Girl, you ain't lying.
'Cause the eyes are starting to burn.
Well, that's not good.
- Is it hard for you to breathe? - Yes.
I'm starting to think we need to move that fire closer to the entrance.
I hate to move it, but...
- Might have to. Yeah. - Okay.
Not good.
Plenty of mistakes are going to be made,
and we're just gonna keep learning from them.
That way, by day 14,
hopefully, we are survivalists.
There you go. Good job!
Not bad for day one, though.
- Two fans. - God.
Definitely my first rodeo,
but we're learning as we go.
This is just crazy.
This is crazy.
All right, friend.
This is the moment of truth here.
All right.
We're doing it.
Just hear all the bugs.
Yeah.
It's a shame we couldn't have that fire in here.
- I know. - Yeah.
It would have been so nice.
The sun is literally almost gone.
I mean, it is pitch black in here.
Boom.
Pitch black.
Bats.
They're more afraid of us than we are of them.
- Right? - For sure.
Okay.
We slept in a cave last night.
- Yeah, we did. - Crazy.
Last night was a little rough. I felt like
John Candy in Great Outdoors
where the bats, like...
Passed our heads, 'cause you can hear them.
At first, it started out a little rocky,
but we got used to it.
Apparently, bats also call this place home.
They didn't mess with us.
I like to think they handled a lot of the bugs for us.
So, today, what do you want to do first?
Well, I think we need to start that fire.
Last night, we lost our fire.
- All right. So... - All right. God.
- ...we need to get this... - Yeah.
...fire started again.
All right. Ready?
Yeah. As I'll ever be.
All right. Here we go.
Right there. Right there. There it goes.
, it's dying.
dying.
Yeah. Yeah.
The fire out here is more frustrating
than I've ever had it in any part of my life.
All right. Back to the drawing board.
Everything's so wet.
We've tried splitting wood.
We've tried looking for drier wood, higher wood.
What do we see up?
Not finding.
It's just so wet.
No, that's rotten.
All these trees that are fallen,
they're all soaking wet. They're like sponges.
So, I'm gonna go ahead and break apart,
I mean, I know they're really thin and small,
but they snapped.
So, that lets me know that they're dry.
Sometimes, if you can't find a solution,
you just got to make one.
There we go.
You got it. Good job.
Hey, that tinder bundle came in handy.
When you watch people in human environments,
jungles, the Amazon, all that,
you say to yourself in your head,
"Wow, that really looks hard."
But when you're out here,
you start going through your head and go,
"Damn, this is impossible."
To all the survivalists,
God bless you. You're amazing.
We have shelter, water,
fire, which means
now we can explore the area.
Yeah. That was gross.
I just felt something go down my butt crack.
It's probably just sweat.
I don't think so.
I would like to make a little spear.
Sure.
Looking for anything to
just stab and kill and eat.
It'd be nice to be able to
get some sort of mammal or a bird.
So that's the plan for today.
Let's see if we can't score
a snack for tonight.
Snakes can be in trees,
trying to get birds, bird nests.
Some may be out in the sun just to sun themselves.
See? We can't see anything under this rock.
No, no movement.
Back at home, running the group fitness classes,
I have a very strict regimen
of, like, high protein all the time, every day,
trying to fuel my body.
And so that's why
finding a good source of food
is so important to me.
- Anything going on? - No.
I'm not seeing nothing.
. Okay.
Hey, check it out. That's a cactus.
It is.
I've never had it. Have you had it?
Nope.
- Well, we can grill it. - Yep.
Exactly. We'll see if we like it.
We'll see how it goes.
That'll be our first meal.
I'm pretty excited and happy.
We haven't had, like, a really big food source yet,
so energy is not the same.
Moment of truth.
It's like a cucumber.
Not bad.
Not good.
Yeah. Definitely bland.
Right.
A little bit of a bitter taste,
but it's edible.
That's thunder.
No.
God.
Whoo!
I think we'll have to move this.
Now grab the wood.
This rain is cold, though.
Whoo!
That rain came out of nowhere.
Hopefully with this being closer to the entrance,
it won't, um,
smoke us out.
Want to see what we're dealing with?
Take a look at the water that comes out.
It's great.
It's raining in the cave too.
All the way down.
Hopefully it doesn't flush us out of our shelter.
It's a bit scary.
It might get messy tonight.
Yeah.
All right.
Yes.
Last night was cold.
Yeah, last night was brutal.
All of our wood got wet.
And our fire went out.
So I was really nervous.
I was worried about the rain last night.
Nowhere dry to lay down. Nowhere dry to sleep.
And we don't know if our cave is gonna flood.
It's important for us to be safe.
I don't foresee it getting much better.
We may need to move.
I think if we wait any longer,
it would be counterproductive.
- I think so too. - Like, it would really hurt us.
You know, it doesn't have a whole lot of food options here.
Okay, so let's look at the map.
If this is our insertion, right?
This is where we ended up.
This is extraction.
- It looks like a cenote there. - Yeah.
And at the size of that cenote,
there'll be more things around.
To the north, through three miles
of thick jungle,
lies one of the area's large cenotes,
a natural sinkhole in the limestone,
filled with life-sustaining groundwater.
But these pools also contain
hidden dangers,
including deadly water moccasin,
caiman,
and the American crocodile
that can grow over 15 feet long
and has one of the strongest bites of any animal,
with a crushing force
of over 3,700 pounds per square inch.
But if you figure we did,
what, a few miles just to get here...
- Yeah. - ...it's gonna be a few miles
- to get there. - To get there, I know.
I know going to the next spot
is a risk,
but we can't stay here.
- I'll work on some shoes. - Cool.
I have never made shoes,
but I'm determined to make these shoes.
Have you worked with this henequen plant before?
- The henequen plant? No. - Yeah.
- No, I can't say I have. - Man.
I've been practicing with it,
and I am very excited about that.
- Awesome. - The fibers we can get
- from inside of that. - Sure, for sure.
- Yeah, making cordage. - Freaking fantastic.
- Yes. - Yeah.
I just cut these henequen plants into strips
and then bend them.
You can hear that snap.
And it literally makes it pliable.
I am super appreciative of you making shoes.
Holy.
I've watched every episode
of Naked and Afraid.
I don't recall seeing a fan challenge
where they left their location
to go to another one.
Man, we gotta be crazy doing this.
Yeah.
I'm nervous. I cannot lie.
It took us a while just to get here,
and that was when we were fresh.
Our energy was up.
I'll take the pot. You have the fire starter?
- I do. - And bow and arrow.
So I'm nervous.
I can't deny that at all.
- Ready to rock and roll? - Let's rock it.
All right, here we go.
That sun is hot.
Holy crap. Whoo.
This is so thick.
It is thick.
The bugs are kind of stupid right now.
- Yeah, they're there. - Jesus Christ.
They're everywhere.
Hundreds of them.
My God. Ernie,
there is a vine
that literally almost went up my vagina.
That would be horrible.
Yeah.
My shoe is falling apart.
That sucks.
I feel so badly about that.
You shouldn't. You tried.
Um, it just didn't work out.
All right, you got to be careful up here, Ernie, okay?
All right. What do you see?
Nothing but stone.
That's awesome.
So just kind of watch my foot pattern.
Just really take your time, with your footing.
Thanks.
Okay.
You okay?
My feet feel bruised.
These rocks are eating my lunch.
- Do you need to take a breather? - Nope.
- Okay. - Nope.
- No. I'd rather drive on. - Okay.
It's gonna take forever, though, to put in
four or five miles like this.
My gosh.
It feels like we're going in circles a little bit,
so that's a little nerve-wracking.
I think we're lost
because everything just looks the same.
All right. Relentless. Relentless.
I hear a lot of birds.
It looks like it's opening up a little, maybe.
Ernie.
Yeah?
There's water right there. It's huge.
There's so much water.
What do you think of this, Ernie?
I'm really excited.
Are you happy, Ernie?
Gosh.
He's happy.
He's happy. He's speechless.
My
I am happy for the big water source,
but this area sucks.
And the water is full of caiman.
There's crocodile.
Definitely gotta be aware of that,
- not to put our shelter too close to the water. - Yeah.
All right, let's go explore.
Hoping the terrain eases up...
A little bit, though, somewhere,
'cause this sucks.
So I'm slowly starting to look up...
...for options.
You wanna take a breather?
No.
It's more important to find the right spot than it is my feet.
So it opens up.
Yeah.
This is much flatter, I think.
It's a little softer here. That's nice.
We start a fire, get some water,
and then we start a debris shelter.
There it is. It's started.
Damn it!
And we are just building a quick
debris shelter for tonight.
We only got maybe...
45 minutes to an hour left of daylight.
So we gotta get something up quick and then we'll work on
the nitty gritty tomorrow.
Yeah, that's gonna have to be good enough for tonight.
My God.
This is tight.
Wow, you weren't lying.
I wasn't.
We're just gonna make it work for tonight.
Something biting me in the ass.
We will not be doing this again tomorrow.
Yeah. We gotta figure something out.
We'll figure something else out.
It's so cold.
Last night,
sleeping wasn't great.
It sucked.
I hated it in there.
It was awful.
We have to make a new shelter.
The plan for the new shelter will be to make an A-frame.
That way we have more room.
More room to bring our stuff in with us.
More room to sleep, to sit up.
Hopefully we'll have it done before a storm hits us.
Which I expect it should hit us.
Yeah.
Now...
we know.
When you're watching the show and you're like, "Wow,
they got a whole bunch of stuff done real fast."
They didn't get it done real fast.
It takes forever to get this done.
It could always be worse.
For sure.
God.
Yeah.
She's coming in hard.
This is gonna be fun to ride out.
We gonna...
We gonna make a memory, Amanda.
I'm scared.
Yeah, here she comes.
And it's cold, man.
- And it is cold. - It is so cold.
- Thank you. - You're doing a great job.
Every time I hear it thunder, like, my stomach drops.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm super proud of you.
Last night was a big fear moment for you.
I really appreciate that.
Okay? And you... you buckled down.
You saw that moment.
You expressed your vulnerability.
And you put your nose into that fire.
We did. I was afraid I was gonna cinge my hair.
You were in it.
You were in it.
I feel like as fans,
we owe it to them to push through this.
- We owe it to them. - I know.
We need to get shelter done today.
Working on our shelter for the third time.
Shelter 3.0.
We're gonna try to economize on size.
We're taking it apart.
And then instead of leaving it in an A-frame formation,
I'm actually gonna bring it down to the ground
almost like a lean-to.
The idea is to fill in the entire walls
with as much wood as possible.
And then to use
some greenery to fill in the gaps.
Now it's like, it is crammed in there.
This tight seal, that's gotta be it.
It's tedious, but, like, I want us to have
what we see people have
when they're in a storm and they're okay
and not in panic mode.
Third time's the charm. We got it.
Perfect.
Just two fans trying to figure it out.
Hear that?
Lots of thunder coming in.
It is cramped in here.
But we will stay warm. And I do think that
we will stay
dry.
I am very excited to say
that shelter 3.0 survived.
Like, we didn't get a single drop on us.
And that felt really good.
But, um,
we need some food.
So, in the next week,
that's what I'm kinda hoping for, is to find
use my bow and try to get us something to eat.
I assume that
that cenote has fish,
but I don't see any fish in it.
The water's still. It's not moving.
It's a mud hole.
A lizard.
It's right there.
That mother...
My aim is horrible, clearly.
It's so frustrating.
Maybe tomorrow.
There's a high expectation you're gonna get something
when you have a bow.
At least from fans.
Goddammit.
It's very hard to bow hunt in here.
Can't walk through this without making ton of noise.
I'm gonna go out every day. I'm gonna try my best.
But expectations are low.
As the days go on,
my body just feels worse and worse.
I can feel the weight loss.
On the sides.
On the sides.
It feels like painful when I laugh.
This is definitely the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.
We're so close.
And I want it so badly.
And I know Ernie does too.
My gas tank
is running on fumes.
That is a big one.
Ernie!
- Yeah? - Can you bring the bow?
Bring... The bow? Yeah.
So there's an iguana
at the top of that tree.
Okay.
Yeah.
- I got him. - yeah.
Yeah, he's running.
God damn it.
It fell off when he dropped.
- There you are. - You found it?
- Yeah, he's running up the tree. - I see it.
He's at least 20 feet up. Watch out.
That was right next to him.
All right, we're gonna chop this down.
Chopping down the branch.
We're just chopping down the branch.
I've been wanting to eat so badly,
and this iguana is so big.
I'm excited about it.
I don't know if there's ever been a fan challenge
where someone scored a kill.
This may be the first one.
If that branch comes down, he comes down.
You ever get used to seeing asses everywhere?
Right? I mean, you can't get used to that.
Yes.
Y'all got a hard job, man.
What do you do?
I blur out private parts.
I hate this lizard.
One of my biggest complaints
is that people don't realize how hard this is.
"food is planted for them.
They get food on the last couple of days."
off.
There's no planting food.
You have to fight for everything you get.
Let's see if he falls down.
- I got it. - There we go.
I don't even see it anymore.
Looks like it jumped from our tree to the next tree.
No.
I'm done. He wins.
I ain't trying to chop down no other tree.
My God.
I'm trying so hard.
It's just not good enough.
I almost wish I had never even seen it.
I just don't know if I got anything left.
It's not that big of a deal to get upset about. It really isn't.
We tried.
"We tried."
Yeah, it. We tried.
Better luck next time.
This whole thing is the epitome of grit.
I wonder, like, how do these people on 21 and 40 days do it?
He was like 18.
Maybe plus.
- Eighteen plus. - Yeah, can you imagine eating that guy?
Man.
He's got the nutritional value of four chicken nuggets.
And a fish stick.
It's day 14.
I am so excited!
And for a true fan like myself,
I didn't know it's gonna suck so bad.
For the sake of my feet, my health,
my mind, my body, I need shoes.
I'm using some palm husk
because the rocks really kick my ass.
You think we're ready to go?
Yeah, I do.
I'm nervous.
I'm exhausted.
Probably more exhausted than I've felt
this entire time. Hands down.
How do we get out of here?
All right, over here.
So we're moving southwest.
All the way to the edge of the earth.
We have to be careful of snakes and...
- We know there's predator animals out there. - Yeah.
So it's gonna be hard.
Just got to take our time.
- Yeah. - You got everything?
- Yep. Let's go. - Let's rock and roll.
To reach their extraction point,
Mandy and Ernie must navigate through four miles
of jagged rocks and dense, untamed jungle
where highly venomous pit vipers wait to strike.
And one of the world's deadliest apex predators,
the jaguar, hunts by stealth
and crushes the skull of its prey
with a single precise bite.
You could die here and no one would ever know or hear you.
All the vines want to reach out and grab you.
It's kind of scary 'cause, like,
there could be things under here.
- For sure. - And we don't know it.
Be careful.
Careful, there's some thorns.
Yeah.
The rocks get sharp too.
This trail would be impossible had we not made shoes.
Man, we're going uphill.
I hate this place.
Whoo!
- Damn, that sun. - Whoo! Yep.
It's hot.
Cottonmouth has gotten so bad.
It's so dry.
I'm gonna be honest,
it's getting harder for me to talk.
Yeah.
I'm not sweating.
I don't have a drop of sweat
anywhere on my body,
which is very concerning
for dehydration purposes.
I feel like we've been walking forever.
Yeah.
Man, this is just brutal.
I can feel the toll.
You start to feel like the gas tank is empty.
When you have nothing,
you have to make the decision to move on.
Using sheer will
to move yourself forward.
You okay?
No, my shoe just came undone.
All right, let's take a breather.
I don't want him to risk
hurting his foot and taking longer.
This is probably a blessing in disguise, really.
Helping me set my pace a little bit.
- All right. - There you go.
- You good? - Good.
All right. Let's go.
You're doing great, Ernie.
Hey, you're a badass.
- I don't feel like it right now. - Every step you take,
- you're a badass. - I don't feel like it.
I don't know how much more my body can do.
I got two little girls that look up to me.
And I want them to know that they can do anything.
I want them to know if they set
that goal, no matter how hard it is,
they can do it.
And I want them to see that.
I'm hoping that...
I might be seeing a road.
Is that a road?
It's a road. For sure.
All right. Do you hear that?
I hear it.
- I hear it. - My gosh.
Come here.
- We did it. - My gosh.
We did it.
- I'm so proud of you. - I'm so proud of you.
As a true fan,
it's the best feeling in the world
to see that truck rolling up.
Good job.
I've anticipated
what this would feel like multiple times,
but nothing comes close to it.
My God.
It is literally
one of the best feelings I have ever felt in my entire life.
My God.
It's so much more empowering.
- We did good! - My God.
I can't believe it.
It just really comes to show
that in our minds, we set limitations for ourselves
because we're scared.
There's no limit.
You may think there's a limit,
but there's not.
People have called me a badass sometimes
and I never felt like that.
Right now, I feel like a little bit.
A little bit of a badass.
Mandy completes the 14-day fan challenge
22 pounds lighter.
Her primitive survival rating
climbs from 4.6 to 5.7.
I definitely have moved from
being a true fan to something more.
There's no greater honor than to be able to know
that I've earned my own necklace,
- to earn my own bag. - Yeah.
Completing this challenge, it's so much harder.
So, so much harder than I thought it would be.
I'm so grateful to be a part of this.
I want to get my bag.
I want to get every single thing I can keep.
And I want to make a shadow box.
I'm gonna cut holes into my wall
so that the pot will fit in it.
Yeah, it's gonna get stupid.
I feel like I've joined
an elite club of people.
And if you don't have that experience,
it's hard to describe it.
But it feels very special.
Yes!
Over the course of two weeks, Ernie shed 15 pounds.
His PSR jumps from 4.9 to 6.0.
I couldn't have done that without you, like, I swear.
People who do these things, like,
I bow down to all of you.
Like, y'all are amazing,
because I almost died
on just 14.
Hallelujah!
Hey man, congratulations!
What?
No way!
Congratulations, man.
Welcome to the team.
I appreciate it, man.
I can't believe that I'm actually talking to you.
Did you ever think from your first fan challenge
- that it would... - No.
I didn't even know I was gonna be able to make it
in the first 14 days out there, like,
having fun and figuring it out, you know what I mean? But...
And survived naked for 14 days out there with nothing,
like that requires some pretty high level skill.
Man, thanks so much. It means a lot.
You are definitely one of my heroes,
so, um, hopefully I can
follow the trail you blazed.
- I'll see you out there, I'm sure. - All right, brother.
- Take care, Ernie. - You too. Bye, Dan.
How cool is that?
I don't want to!
I knew it was gonna be hard, but it's on a different level.
I'm ready to rock and roll!
21 day redemption, lets go!
I'm back, ladies and gentlemen, you're welcome in advance!
No way!
What's up, guys?
Yes!
I'm Laura.
Surprise, I'm back!
Whatever.
Every day, you're all in these cocounts.
My body can't do it!
You know what, at this point, I'm done, I don't need it.
I don't need any of it.
My gosh.
He's just so obsessed.
Maybe you don't understand.
You are freaking impossible.
Coming out here, it will show your weaknessses real quick.
I'm just not enough of a man
to deal with the biggest part of this challenge.
You're gonna experience all enemies of survival...
Whoa! Hey, whoa, put it back, put it back!
and the depths of how dark things can get.
No!
No, no!
Stabbed you!
I'm really scared.
My god!
Steven!
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!
