Among the quiet towns and bustling epicenters around the world,

reports pour in of unusual aerial phenomena.

It shoots high into the air.

It's moving in an erratic way.

This is not a terrestrial craft.

Flying discs, hovering orbs,

strange biological substances falling from the sky.

To determine what it might have been,

you'd have to eliminate all the other possibilities.

The sensational becomes credible once it's crowdsourced.

Thousands of people claim to see these orbs.

UFO hotspots light up on the map.

What's made these places the target of otherworldly attention?

This might be the location of the vortex.

As vessels reappear in the same locations,

can we use the earthly to guess at otherworldly motives?

Are these mysterious visitors friends or foe?

And should we fear their return?

All over the world, repeat sightings of UFOs baffle researchers.

UAP are in our airspace, but they are grossly underreported.

The pattern begins to emerge.

These sightings are not rare or isolated.

They are routine.

What is the meaning behind these hotspots?

I can't go beyond what I've already stated publicly.

Congress, the government is not prepared.

Are we being mapped?

On a crisp March evening, around 7 p.m.,

the Sloggett family is out for a walk around the quaint town of Bonnie Bridge,

just outside Edinburgh.

A sleepy, picturesque area, the Sloggetts are enjoying the cool evening air,

when suddenly, they become aware of a strange ring of lights hovering over the nearby moor.

A few moments later, Stephen Sloggett starts to make out a football-shaped object in the sky,

and hears a strange whirring sound.

As the bewildered family looks on,

the object swoops down and lands in a nearby field.

Suddenly, a blinding, intense light shines out at them through the forest trees.

Frozen to the spot,

they watch as a door on the side of the craft slides open,

and something within emits an unearthly howl.

Terrified, the Sloggett family make their escape,

running back down the road as fast as they can.

What happened to the Sloggett family sounds something straight out of a movie.

This family must have been absolutely terrified.

I think it's one thing for them to have seen the door open,

but what really sticks in your mind is this unearthly howl, this noise.

This is one of hundreds of reports coming out of similar sightings in Falkirk.

The Falkirk region has one of the highest concentration of UFO sightings in the world.

There were so many UFO sightings in the United Kingdom in the 1940s that in 1950,

the Ministry of Defence set up a dedicated UFO unit to investigate.

Certainly when a government initiates a UFO investigation program or unit,

it adds a certain amount of credence to the stories and the claims,

because the government simply would not do this otherwise.

They wouldn't give resources to something that they think is completely bonked.

In the 1990s, Britain's UFO investigation unit is inundated with reports of sightings from the area

and public outcry intensifies.

Massive gatherings are held with UFO witnesses and concerned locals alike,

filling up entire auditoriums, desperate for answers.

What on earth is going on in the Falkirk Triangle?

Scotland.

A land of breathtaking beauty.

From the rugged grandeur of the highlands

to the serene locks that mirror the sky.

Rolling hills,

dramatic coastlines,

historic castles,

and ancient forests tell stories of a land shaped by time and nature.

What you have in Scottish culture

is this very strong tradition of storytelling

and also a belief in the enchanted,

what we might call the supernatural.

A belief in this kind of close relationship between human beings

and the world of fantasy another realm.

Within these striking landscapes

lies one area with the unique and unsettling history

of peculiar phenomena

that has captured the attention of paranormal skeptics

and believers alike.

Nestled within the lowlands of central Scotland,

the Falkirk Triangle

is the area bordered by the cities of Stirling,

Glasgow,

and Edinburgh.

This area is sometimes called

the Roswell of Scotland.

And Roswell, of course,

is an area in the United States

famous for an alleged UFO-related incident.

It's notorious.

So when you call a place

the Roswell of,

you're basically signaling

that it is an unusually active UFO hotspot.

Since its first major sighting in the late 1970s,

the skies above this area

have evolved into a nexus of the unexplained,

an epicenter of heightened activity

for unidentified flying objects.

Something that is a little different

about sightings coming out of Scotland

and really the British Isles in general

is that they tend to center around encounters

a lot more than just mere sightings.

There have been all kinds of encounters

with alien beings in the Falkirk Triangle.

We've had objects in the sky that hover,

that dart around, that swoop,

but especially encounters with enormous spacecraft.

But it's not only the vast number of UFO sightings

that has garnered international attention.

Even more alarming

are the tales of close encounters of the third kind.

November 9th, 1979.

Bob Taylor, a forestry worker,

is driving down the M8 motorway

that connects Scotland's two largest cities,

Edinburgh and Glasgow.

He parks his pickup truck on the side of the road.

He heads into a densely wooded area

known as Deckmont Law

to check the woods for stray sheep and cattle.

When Bob steps into the clearing,

he's confronted by a large circular sphere,

or what he will later describe as a flying dome,

hovering above the forest floor.

The object is dark and metallic,

with a rough texture like sandpaper,

and is equipped with small propellers on its outer rim.

Bob Taylor was an experienced forestry worker.

He knew this area very well.

So how on earth did he react to seeing something like this?

It must have completely defied his imagination.

Smaller spheres resembling sea mines

drop down from beneath this hovering object,

hit the ground, and start rolling towards him.

Terrified, Bob has no time to react,

and the sea mines start dragging him towards the hovering craft.

Bob's last few memories of the incident

are a strange burning smell,

and a swishing sound before everything went black.

When Bob regains consciousness,

the objects are gone.

Unable to drive,

he walks back to his home in Livingston.

His concerned wife rushes to meet him.

I've been attacked, he tells her,

before breaking down in distress.

Why?

Why is he telling this story?

He doesn't have a history of mental illness.

He's never been into UFOs before.

There's nothing to be gained

from just making this up wholeheartedly.

If you can't see the advantage in making it up,

then it becomes easier to believe

that something actually happened.

As word spreads of Bob Taylor's disturbing encounter,

people start to put out theories

of what may have happened that night.

Patricia Hanford,

founder of the Edinburgh University UFO Research Society

and qualified physician,

floats the theory that Bob suffered an isolated attack

of temporal lobe epilepsy,

and it started to hallucinate.

Oftentimes when you have an epileptic seizure or stroke,

you might smell burning as a prodrome

to what's happening before you pass out,

because in both of those cases,

you're blocking oxygenated blood flow to the brain.

And when you've got low oxygen in those states,

you can also hallucinate in that period of time

when you're not really conscious

before you go completely unconscious.

The thing that was really alarming

about the whole Bob Taylor incident

were the physical evidence

of something having happened.

One of the things was the rips in Bob's pants.

He came back home looking completely bedraggled,

not just as if he'd been beaten up,

but really torn at.

After hearing Bob's account,

his wife calls the police,

making this case the first UFO sighting

in Scotland's history

to be investigated by the authorities.

The vast majority of UFO sightings

are stories of a light in the sky

that doesn't last very long,

and then it's just gone.

And there's very little you can do with that.

But there's a lot more that you can do

with physical evidence,

because, of course, that's what scientists look for.

It's something that they can get their hands on.

It's something tangible

that they can actually measure.

And so any time a UFO story

has some physical evidence to corroborate it,

it's immediately more credible.

It's immediately more interesting.

A police scientist who looked at Bob's pants

came to the conclusion

that these weren't just casual rips

caused by thorns or branches.

These rips were intentionally made

by some kind of hook-like implement

that dug into the pants and ripped.

At the scene, authorities also document marks

and indentations on the ground.

The marks on the ground included

about 40 quite deep holes,

and then these track-like marks

that look like a kind of bulldozer

that have been swishing around all over the place.

While there's a load of track marks

in the area where Bob said

that he saw this dome-like craft,

there are no track marks coming in

or going out of the area,

only in that exact space.

So how do you explain that?

It's very difficult to get a piece of equipment

or anything in the middle of a forest

and not leave evidence of it getting there.

So the fact that we have track marks

but no evidence of how that object

that created those track marks got there

is really, really unusual.

The investigation concluded

that Bob Taylor had indeed been the subject

of a particularly vicious attack.

The only question was, by what?

The police would eventually classify the report

as an assault by a person or persons unknown.

It was shelved pending further evidence.

In the months and years that followed,

alien skeptics and believers alike

would visit the scene of the incident

convinced that a simple explanation could be found.

The author and UFO skeptic Stuart Campbell

looked at the whole Bob Taylor incident

and he believed what had happened

was a phenomenon called black ball lightning

and that this meteorological phenomenon

had spooked Bob Taylor

and he'd had some kind of fit,

maybe an epileptic fit.

Sightings of ball lightning

have been made for centuries around the world.

A fleeting spectacle

that has largely defied explanation.

Everybody has a slightly different explanation

or a different description of it.

So sometimes you have this thing

where it runs around independent

and bounces off of things

and goes through houses.

Other times it just shows up for a second

as a little glow.

So because it is potentially such a rare phenomena,

we haven't really gotten good video evidence of it.

Having said that,

it would have had to last far,

far longer than it actually does.

And unless somehow he were able to stop time,

it's not a good explanation for it.

Seven years later,

Campbell would change his theory

from black ball lightning

to a mirage of Venus

that triggered an epileptic seizure in Taylor.

Optical mirages

are basically a phenomena

that occurs on the Earth's atmosphere

when light passing through the Earth's atmosphere

becomes bent along its path or refracted.

And what this can often manifest

as objects, celestial objects,

appearing like slightly offset or distorted.

One of the most amazing things

about the atmosphere

is how weird it can get.

So you can actually see areas of clouds

which have a very smooth top to them.

Sometimes it's a very smooth bottom,

like to the point you're looking at it going,

that can't be real.

If you're standing in an area

where the humidity is a little bit lower

and everything's clear,

and now you've got this, say,

higher humidity moving up a valley,

yeah, that can be pretty ominous

and look really weird.

And if you have cloud tags

or little scud tags underneath that,

you might see a sea mine thing

dropping out of it.

In reality, it's just the way air moves.

Possible explanations

for the marks and indentations on the ground

were also put forward.

So if we're installing cables

or piping underground,

we often store large amounts of material

in and around the sites

where the installation's going to occur,

and it's often piled up

simply sitting on the ground.

So it can definitely lead to

marks in the ground

that may be interpreted as track marks

when in fact they were just materials

that were left sitting in the ground

and left impressions.

However, none of these theories

explains the rips in Taylor's pants.

Bob Taylor continued to be described

as an honest, reliable man

of good character

throughout the investigations.

He never asked for payment

for telling his version of the events,

and up until his death in 2007,

he remained faithful to his account.

The thing is,

we may never know what happened

on that night to Bob.

It's something that's gone with him

to the grave,

but it does appear

that something very mysterious occurred.

After Bob Taylor's

famous close encounter in 1979,

UFO sightings in the Falkirk Triangle

seemed to dwindle.

That is,

until the early 1990s,

when a major shift occurs.

Interest in UFOs

definitely goes in cycles.

There are decades and periods

when interest is very, very high,

and then there's other periods

when it's much, much lower.

You can trace that history over time.

It comes in waves.

When the government

is particularly interested

or when it's especially in the media,

anytime you see something coming out

as a movie or a TV show,

sightings tend to shoot up.

January, 1992.

Businessman James Walker

is driving home from work

on a country road near Falkirk

that he travels almost every day.

As he heads down the road,

he notices some strange

and unfamiliar lights in the sky.

Ready to dismiss them as stars,

he does a double take

as he sees them start to move.

Stopping his car,

Walker watches in wonder

as the lights dance around

in a celestial ballet.

Then, just as quickly,

they stop and hover

in a giant triangle

that hangs silently overhead.

Fear overcoming his curiosity,

Walker flees the scene

at breakneck speed.

Just a few months later,

the Sloggett family

would have their close encounter

in the same region.

These two major sightings

in early 1992

kick off a UFO frenzy

and by the mid-90s,

it reaches fever pitch.

In the 1990s,

we start to see

hundreds of accounts

of these UFO sightings

happening in Falkirk.

The Falkirk Triangle

quickly gains

international notoriety

as one of the most

prolific UFO hotspots

in the entire world.

Britain's official

reporting center

for UFO sightings

is flooded with calls.

Various accounts

of these sightings

include seeing

lots of different

colored lights in the sky,

red and white,

darting around,

but also forming

these triangle shapes.

But one such account

goes beyond

a mere sighting.

August 1992,

on a dark evening,

ambulance technician

Gary Wood

and his friend

Colin Wright

are traveling

from Edinburgh

to Tarbracks,

a small village

in South Lanarkshire.

What should have been

a roughly 30-minute journey

is suddenly interrupted

when they notice

a strange hovering object

in the sky.

As they stop to stare

in wonder,

a curtain of white light

appears in front of the car.

Then,

everything goes black.

The two friends wake up,

what they perceive

to be minutes later,

with the car facing

in the opposite direction

on the wrong side

of the road.

But it isn't until

they arrive

at their friend's house

that they realize

that their 30-minute trip

has taken them

two hours.

When we're conscious,

we actually have no sense

of how much time is passing.

We evolved

as diurnal creatures,

so we judge

the time of day

with light levels.

And yet,

this is at night.

They have none

of that sense.

So when they pass out

and they wake up,

the first thing is like,

how long were we out?

And if one of them

feels like,

oh, you know,

it's just seconds

because they can remember

what happened before

and they remember waking up,

you don't really know.

They contact police.

But without evidence

of an actual crime

being committed,

they are unable

to investigate.

They contact doctors,

universities,

and psychologists.

But it's not until

they finally turn

to a hypnotist

that new

and very disturbing

details start to emerge.

When you have

a traumatic event,

sometimes the shock

means you don't remember

what happened.

And you can use

methods like hypnosis

to bring those memories back.

Gary and Colin

reported seeing

strange creatures

and then experiencing

a pain

like an intense

electric shock.

Then they describe

being in a room

and like so many

classic abduction scenarios,

the aliens proceed

to examine

these individuals.

They also describe

red-hot,

poker-like objects

being put into their eyes

during this examination.

We get the classic

description of the alien,

which is of having

large gray eyes

and of being

of a whitish gray color.

Gary describes

one of the creatures

speaking to him

and the creature

says something

very strange.

We are already here.

We are coming here.

Despite mounting

clinical evidence

supporting the effectiveness

of hypnosis

in changing certain behaviors,

when it comes

to memory retrieval,

it remains

highly controversial.

The biggest concern

is its imaginative potential,

its ability

to create

or implant

false memories.

The suggestion

to recall

causes people

to imagine

scenarios

rather than

report accurately

what they've experienced.

One of the ways

that you try

to recover

a lost memory

about an event

is that you try

to prime them

with little bits

of information

about that event

and ask,

you know,

did you see this?

Did this happen?

The idea behind that

is the memory

is a network

of all these different pieces

for that event

and if you can latch

onto one part of it,

you can use that

to pull the rest

of the memory to you.

What did you see?

Did you see aliens?

Well, I saw something

that looked, you know,

tall, gangly, and gray

but sort of like a person.

This is a depiction

that's happened

in media and publicity

for a long time

of what the aliens,

you know,

in Area 51

and other places

look like.

Can you remember

lying on your back?

Yeah, I can.

Can you remember

lying on a table?

Well, you might have

memories of lying

on tables in the past

and then, you know,

are there bright lights

above you?

Do you feel pain?

Anything you've experienced

can then be added

from your own memories

but instead of them

being along

the same thread,

you're actually stitching

pieces of different

memories together

to create something

that didn't actually happen.

Research has also found

that people who have

been hypnotized

tend to feel confident

that their projected

memories are more accurate

than they were beforehand,

that hypnosis can affirm

or validate false memories.

A few years after

their incident,

Gary and Colin

pass a televised polygraph test

that confirms their own belief

in the experience.

Well, the weakness

of the polygraph test

lies in the fact that

if you really believe

something to be true

and you take the polygraph test,

it's going to be seen

as true.

And maybe these two people

really, really believe

that they had this experience.

As UFO mania

in Falkirk ramps up,

so does the intense speculation

as to why extraterrestrials

might be drawn

to this particular area.

Theories are put forward

that the thinning

between worlds

is more fragile

in the Falkirk Triangle

than anywhere else

in the UK

or perhaps the world.

Some people begin

to theorize

that it could be

an ideal slipping point

between different dimensions

or parallel universes.

Scotland is a surprising place

when you think of it

in the context of UFOs

because we don't typically

associate Scotland

with UFOs.

There's a really,

really interesting overlap

between UFOs

and this futuristic technology

and the ancient sites

that people otherwise

know the area for.

And there's plenty of stories

and theories out there

about how these things

cross over.

Approximately 240 kilometers

from the Falkirk Triangle

lies the infamous Loch Ness.

The Loch Ness monster

is a cryptid

known the world over.

That is a creature

which cannot be

logically,

rationally explained.

that's said to live

in this huge stretch

of water in Scotland.

The creature affectionately

nicknamed Nessie

is one of the most

legendary examples

of cryptozoology.

It's something

that looks like

a plesasaur.

It's a kind of dinosaur-like

aquatic creature.

Vast in size,

a huge trunk,

massive flippers,

elongated neck.

I mean,

it comes in

different variations,

sometimes multiple humps,

sometimes one big hump,

but it's that kind of thing.

The legend gained

significant attention

in the early 20th century

with sporadic eyewitness accounts

and one iconic image

which circulates

around the world.

In 1934,

an English physician

called Robert Kenneth Wilson

takes what is probably

the iconic photograph

of the Loch Ness monster.

It's no swan.

This is definitely

a dinosaur.

The surgeon's photograph,

as it becomes known,

attracts huge controversy

with as many detractors

and skeptics

as there are believers.

Laterally,

Ron Halliday,

a renowned Scottish

paranormal investigator,

suggests that Loch Ness

may be a portal

into a different dimension

and that people

could be seeing

a dinosaur

that existed in the past

and that has somehow

slipped into the present.

A similar theory

suggests that Ness

may live

in a parallel universe,

similar to the concept

of the upside down

in the TV show

Stranger Things.

One possible interpretation

of where things

like UFOs

or cryptids

are coming from

has been called

the many worlds interpretation

or the multiverse.

The multiverse theory

is considered

one of the most

controversial theories

in science.

The details are often argued

in the context

of other major concepts

like string theory

and quantum mechanics.

The multiverse theory

argues that

it's possible

that our universe

is just one of many universes

that exist

in a greater,

higher dimensional space.

One thing that's argued

is that these other universes

could have

very different properties.

including different laws,

different constraints,

different characteristics,

potentially even

different versions

of ourselves.

One high profile person

who has explicitly

made this connection

in 2020

was a former director

of French intelligence,

Alain Juliette,

who said very clearly

that he thought

this is exactly

where UFOs

are coming from.

Over the years,

there have been

various attempts

at trying to prove

or disprove

the wide range

of theories

regarding the mystical

Loch Ness Monster.

Over the years,

there have been

many sonar explorations

in search of

the Loch Ness Monster.

However,

none of them

have been successful.

The difficulty

with the Placisaur theory

in relation

to the Loch Ness Monster

is that if we're assuming

that these creatures

have existed

in the Loch

for centuries,

for millennia,

then you'd expect

to find bones

and there are no bones.

In 2018,

scientists conducted

a DNA survey

to see what types

of organisms

lived in Loch Ness.

There was no evidence

of a plesiosaur

or any other large animals

found in Loch Ness.

Instead,

they found a large quantity

of eels.

This opens the possibility

that the Loch Ness

could just be

an oversized eel.

In 1993,

the surgeon's photograph

of 1934

was finally revealed

as a hoax,

but this has not deterred

thousands of Nessie hunters

who make the pilgrimage

to the world's

most famous loch

every year.

Due to the lack of evidence

around the Loch Ness Monster,

there are people

who still believe

that it could be

otherworldly.

Standing tall

against shifting skies

on a windswept landscape,

the Scottish stone circles

of Calanish

on the Isle of Lewis

and Stennis in Orkney

are two of Scotland's

most ancient

architectural marvels.

Erected 5,000 years ago,

they bear silent witness

to Scotland's history

and mystery

and could offer clues

to the otherworldly

connections

of the Falkirk Triangle.

I'm never actually

that surprised anymore

when I hear that

within an area

like the Falkirk Triangle

where weird stuff

is being reported

that there is

a stone structure

of some kind.

They seem to go

hand in hand.

On the Isle of Lewis,

we have this

enigmatic circle

of 13 stones.

We don't know

what they mean,

what they signify,

what was their

ritualistic purpose.

These are the oldest

known stone henges

in the British Isles.

Maybe they are areas

where people

buried their dead.

They could be areas

of ceremonial

or ritual purposes

or even a place

of social gathering.

But other theories

suggest a more

cosmic connection.

A couple of theories

have been proposed

to explain

some of the strangeness

around the stone circle.

It might be the case

that extraterrestrials

helped to build this

or simply that

it's a beacon of sorts.

If there is another

race coming here,

they're using it

to navigate to Earth.

Proponents of its

intergalactical origins

hold the belief

that the stone circle's

advanced engineering

surpassed human capability

5,000 years ago.

When we think about

Neolithic periods

and what people had

at their disposal

to move large objects,

there really isn't much.

Those people don't have

iron tools

to cut these stones.

They don't have

wheeled carts.

They don't have

a lot of the technology

that we take for granted.

Also in that period,

most people

are subsistence living.

They're basically

growing their own food.

They're making sure

that they can feed themselves.

To take time out

to construct

such large structures,

it really is

a massive undertaking.

In 2016,

archaeologists

from the University

of Adelaide

publish a study

that unveils

new insights

into the origins

of these stone storytellers.

The study presents

evidence that

Scotland's two oldest

stone circles

were deliberately

assembled

to align with

the orbits

of the sun

and the moon.

Using 2D

and 3D technology,

researchers are able

to test the alignment

patterns in the circles,

leading to the

scientific conclusion

that these ancient

standing stones

were built

to connect

the Earth

to the stars.

This discovery

that the stone circle

is aligned

with certain

planetary motions

is fascinating.

For thinking about

the involvement

or the potential

involvement

of extraterrestrials,

you have to ask,

is this in some way

connected?

Is this part

of some kind

of homing beacon?

What is the nature

of the energy here?

What is the actual

purpose of this?

Within the UK

lies another series

of towering

megalithic stones

that has been

at the centre

of otherworldly

theories for millennia.

Stonehenge

is one of the most

famous archaeological

sites in the world.

This place

has puzzled

people for centuries.

Was it a place

where people came

to be healed

like at Lourdes?

Was it a place

of ritual,

even sacrifice?

Was it some kind

of astronomical guise

that showed people

the different phases

of the year?

Nobody really knows

for sure.

I think it does

strengthen the case

for the Falkirk Triangle

as a place

of high strangeness

that it is in such

proximity to Stonehenge.

And we've known

for a long time

that there's something

weird about Stonehenge.

Many assert

that Stonehenge

might serve as a

landing pad

for intergalactical

spacecraft

and strange accounts

in the area

have only strengthened

such theories.

In 2009,

there was these

photographs that

were published

in January

and you see

this speck of light

above Stonehenge

and witness statements

speculated

that they saw

this disc-like

shape hovering

over the monument.

In 2023,

a man who claimed

to work there

said that he saw

this shape-shifting

UFO fly over

the monument.

If Stonehenge

had been built

with the help

or directly by

extraterrestrials,

why would they have

created such a structure?

Could it have been

something to assist them

with navigation,

with communication

back home?

Could it even have

been a portal,

one of these gateways

to a wormhole

across space and time?

These are the various

theories that people

have put forward

to explain

why beings

from another planet

may have created

Stonehenge.

560 kilometers

north of Stonehenge,

near the borders

of the Falkirk Triangle,

lies Roslyn Chapel,

a centuries-old building

hailed as one

of the most beautiful

and curious pieces

of architecture

on the planet.

Roslyn Chapel

is a really mysterious

medieval building.

I would liken it

almost to

the most ornate

wedding cake

you've ever seen.

It's so

ridiculously detailed.

It's like nothing

you see anywhere else

in Scotland

or Britain

or even the world

for that matter.

Gothic carvings

in the chapel

are said to resemble

reptilian aliens.

Others appear to depict

examples of knowledge

in use before its time.

The one thing

that is very striking

in Roslyn Chapel

is this pillar

that's called

the Apprentice Pillar.

It's like nothing

you will find

in any other church

of that period.

And it has

this unusual design

which looks

like a DNA string

that's going

up the pillar.

Nobody can explain

what this is

and it looks like

something that we

would associate

with modern scientific

knowledge.

The story that's told

is that it was

a rogue mason

who built it

and in fact

he was killed

by the master mason

for having done this

without his orders.

It is very strange

and it's clearly

trying to convey

something.

Another thing

that's very strange

in this church

is the appearance

of what looks like

maize and aloe vera,

basically plants

that did not

exist in Europe

before Christopher Columbus

went to the New World

and brought those

plants back.

Nestled within the

chapel's architecture

is another nod

to otherworldly design

and it involves

the science

of cymatics,

a field of study

that focuses

on visible vibrations

and sounds.

One of the most

striking things

that you see

in the ceiling

are these

kind of blocks

that form rows

and it's very difficult

to make up

what exactly they are

but each of the blocks

is carved

slightly differently.

One theory

about these stone blocks

is that they are

actually musical notes.

Basically,

by deciphering them,

you can play

a piece of music.

This represents

an understanding

of acoustics,

of science,

that was way ahead

of the time

when the chapel

was built.

So, for people

to have known that,

they would have had

to have been informed

by somebody

with future knowledge.

Well, that begs

the question,

who?

Some believe

that recreating

these frequencies

is key to uncovering

and perhaps even opening

the chapel's presumed portal

to another universe.

Is it something

that was intended

to be played

that would send out

a signal

that extraterrestrials

will be able

to pick up on?

Is it some kind

of message

or beacon

that could be sent out

at a particular time?

Today,

people have tried

and failed

to recreate

the frequency

at Roslyn Chapel.

So, it still remains

a mystery.

By the late 1990s,

frustrated that there

is still no explanation

for the vast number

of UFO reports

in the Falkirk Triangle,

Billy Buchanan

of Falkirk

District Council

writes to

Prime Minister

Tony Blair

demanding the phenomenon

be investigated.

For five years,

the people

both you and I represent

have witnessed

a phenomenon

in the area

that has been

left unexplained.

I wrote to your predecessor,

John Major.

I have also contacted

our local MP,

Dennis Canavan,

who put me in contact

with the MOD,

who told me

quite strongly

that nothing was happening

in Bonnie Bridge

that was a threat

to national security.

I have tried

to get an answer

for the people

and have been ridiculed

for it.

I appeal to you,

Mr. Blair,

to get the phenomenon

investigated.

Unfortunately for

some of these

letter writers,

for these ufologists,

these advocates,

a fairly typical response

that they will

sometimes receive

from the government

is that the government

is not interested

in this,

and more specifically

that they don't see

any grounds

to actually investigate this.

And so this was the case

with Buchanan,

and he eventually

got a letter

saying that the government

was not going to

pursue this anymore

because they frankly

didn't see a point.

In 2009,

after nearly 60 years

of official research

and investigation,

Britain's Ministry of Defense

officially axes

its UFO department

in a wider series

of defense cuts.

This was certainly

another blow

to Buchanan's work

and those like him

who were pushing

the government

to take this seriously.

A few months later,

the MOD releases

a slew of previously

classified files

of reports

of historic

UFO sightings,

several of which

had occurred

in the Falkirk area.

The files contained

verbal and drawn accounts

of UFO encounters

across Scotland,

including reports

of flying Toblerones

and objects traveling

at 1,700 kilometers per hour

across the Scottish sky.

For the first time,

the public also had visibility

of the astounding volume

of reports

in possession

of the authorities.

One really interesting outcome

is the change

that some researchers

tracked in the sighting reports

of UFOs

and particularly

their appearance

and their shape.

Originally,

UFO sightings

often talked about

flying saucers,

disks,

spheres.

Then they went to

cylinders

and longer,

rounder shapes.

And then we've got

these lights

that are forming triangles.

Why is this changing

over time?

Some people go

the route of claiming

that they have

upgraded their craft,

basically.

They have different designs

in modern days

than they did

back in the 40s.

I tend towards

the conclusion

that this actually

reflects more

what we think

about the craft ourselves.

The depiction

in media changes

over time,

and this could be

part of one of the reasons

why people are trying

to interpret

what they're seeing

and their interpretations

are based on their experience

and what they've seen before.

Flying saucers

have invaded our planet.

A lot of

the early UFO sightings

are kind of around

the time

when science fiction

comes to the forefront.

We start to get images

of what we think

rockets and spaceships

are going to look like,

and that permeates

people's subconscious,

and we start thinking

about flying saucers.

As time progresses,

science fiction morphs

and spaceships

no longer look like

flying discs.

They look more like aircraft.

Fast forward

to more modern times,

and we start seeing

these black triangular objects.

And now,

when you look at

the development

of military aircraft,

and specifically

stealth aircraft,

what we see

are flying wings,

which are essentially

aircraft that

have a very triangular shape.

And additionally,

to make them

more stealthy,

they're often

painted black

and use radar-absorbing

materials,

which are often

black themselves.

And that's what

UFO observers

may be seeing

in the change

from the 1950s

to more modern era.

Although the MOD

closed its UFO

investigation unit

in the late 90s,

the sightings

in the Falkirk Triangle

continue unabated.

In August of 2022,

Mason Anderson

is sitting in the garden

with his wife

when he observes

something flashing

in the sky

above Falkirk Town Center.

It appears to morph

into a group

of stationary flashing lights,

but Mason can't see

any solid object

in the sky

with his naked eye.

Curious,

he grabs his binoculars

and makes out

a cigar-shaped object,

which appears

to be rotating

on the spot.

He watches

as the object,

which he describes

as medium grey,

hangs around

for about 30 minutes

before tearing off

through the sky.

As there's no UFO unit

to investigate

these kind of sightings

anymore,

Mason Anderson

approaches

Malcolm Robertson,

who is a UFO hunter

who had a high profile

in Scotland

in the 1990s.

Malcolm Robertson

believes that 95%

of these UFO sightings

are explainable.

There are two military airbases

within 50 miles

of the Falkirk Triangle,

as well as two busy airports

in the neighbouring cities

Edinburgh and Glasgow.

And a lot of the aircraft

that are destined

for Europe and points east

will come in over Scotland.

So there's not only

the aircraft that's local

at Glasgow and Edinburgh

and the two air force bases,

there's also a lot

of high-level traffic.

Could this be the reasons

why people claim

to see so many things

in the sky?

We have to pose

the question

whether or not

a lot of these UFO sightings

are actually

what we term

black-budget technology,

in other words,

top-secret aircraft

the public

is not allowed

to know about,

and so are left

believing

may be aircraft

run by extraterrestrials.

Where we have

military bases

we often have

aircraft that are

not familiar

to everybody.

They're often

moving on trajectories

that don't match

with civilian aircraft.

And they're often

at strange hours too,

so they're often

doing manoeuvres

at dusk or at night,

flying low,

flying in formation.

All of these things

can lead to observers

interpreting

military aircraft

as UFOs.

The ones that

defy explanation

are the sightings

that Malcolm Robinson

returned home

to Scotland

after 23 years

living in England

to try to solve.

His investigations

and those of his

fellow UFO

and paranormal

investigators

in the Falkirk region

continue to this day.

There's been no let-up

in the number

of sightings

in the Falkirk triangle,

so we still have people

claiming to see

UFOs in town centers,

in remote areas,

next to bogs,

on mountains,

wherever.

They're still

having contact

with UFOs

all over

the Falkirk triangle.

If otherworldly entities

are truly being drawn

to the Falkirk triangle,

it seems they have found

no reason

to stop now.
