Beth's scarlet fever had

taken a turn for the very worst.

At Doctor Banks' suggestion,

a telegram was sent to last
night to Marmee in Washington,

asking her to return
home as soon as possible.

In the meantime, we all hope, and wait.

Oh. Huh?

Mm-mm-mm.

Jo? Jo, wake up.

Huh?

Oh, Meg, I fell asleep.

How's Beth?

She's still running a fever.

It's about six o'clock in the morning.

because I've only heard

second-hand about Beth
and how she's doing,

but I'm determined to see my sister today.

I arrived just as the playing had begun,

and at first I didn't know what to think,

so I just stood in the snow, listening to

the beautiful music coming from
inside the house, wondering.

As
Laurie continued to play,

the music began to have
the desired effect on Beth.

if her temperature doesn't come down.

in the Bible Marmee gave us

last Christmas, that if
we ask, we shall receive.

Now, I know I've asked for a lot,

but it didn't say we couldn't keep asking,
