sister Beth has taken ill.

Everyone has begun to
suspect it's very serious

and contagious, scarlet fever.

To keep me out of harm's
way, I've been sent away

to stay with Aunt March
until the danger passes.

Marmee is still away in
Washington tending to Father,

and my sisters, especially
Jo, are taking care of Beth.

Of course, we haven't
sent word to Marmee about

Beth's illness, so she doesn't
know anything about it.
