Well, I have this
image in my head

and I'm not sure
if it's a memory

or if it's something
that I've just made up,

but, when she disappeared,

all I was told was
that she'd gone away.

And then, when I was
about 15, out of the blue

my mother said to me
something about, um, oh,

"you know that girl, the one
that was murdered, Veronica."

I had no idea until then that that's
what had happened to her and...

Anyway, this image, um, it
was the last time I saw her

and I was with her on a street in
oldham and a car drove up to us

and a man asked us if
we wanted to go for a ride.

And she seemed to
know him, but I didn't.

So I said no. But she
really wanted to. So she did.

But the odd thing is, aged six,

there's no way my mother would
have let me be out and about

on my own in a street in
oldham, so... I don't know.

But...

I've always thought that I
saw the man who killed her.

And that's why I
joined the police.

To find out... To find out
why no one was ever caught.

And you know, I
did look into it, but...

When you're on the job,

you've enough on keeping
up with the new ones, so...
