Yes, sir ?

I'm here to tune the piano

Our young mistress is practicing now!

How much longer?

It'd be okay if you come back in 30 minutes

Sir

Take these inside

Mom certainly had patience

Classical music is nice

But it's too boring

I wonder if Mom

felt the same way

What is the matter, Miss?

You have 30 more minutes to go

Let's listen to something else

Miss

Come on!

Come!

Come on!

What's that noise?

It's from the mistress' room

Xiao Qing's room?

Looks like Ying will get another scolding

Ying

Ah Ying...

Xiao Qing, are you tired of reading?

No!

Choose some decent music

Not this kind of racket with no melody

Don't you find it noisy?

There's a banquet later on

that I must attend

You don't have time for me anymore

You must study hard and prepare for college

Be prepared. I'm off now

Ying, what is this?

Take good care of her!

Don't just fool around

Yes!

Staying inside all day is so boring

Ying, is Dad gone?

Let's go out!

No! Your father said...

Don't worry! I'm not afraid

That's because your father loves you

But he'll scold me!

Precisely because you get the scolding

I'm taking you out for a break

I'm back

Yuan Ping

Fu Sheng, when did you arrive?

Why are you so late?

Mom!

Fu Sheng has been waiting for you

He found a job for you

One of the singers at the night club

was in a car accident

He can't come to work tonight

Hesitate no more

This is your big chance! Hurry!

Wait, let me have some water

Auntie, if Yuan Ping grabs hold

of this opportunity tonight

His dream may come true!

Mom, should I go?

Fu Sheng, I can't go like this!

Don't mind that now

There's no time! Hurry!

Mom!

I must do this!

I'll see what I want to see

What exactly is that?

I want to see a nightclub

Your heart makes me forget about the past

Love grows with no pain or sound

Your heart keeps me warm

Sunshine at night, winter is warm

Mountains are green, rivers ever running

This place is a mess!

Let's go home!

Our love will never change over the years

Your heart makes me forget about the past

Stay by my side, our hearts entwined

Your heart makes me forget about the past

Love grows with no pain or sound

Your heart keeps me warm

Sunshine at night, winter is warm

Mountains are green, rivers ever running

Our love will never change over the years

Your heart makes me forget about the past

Stay by my side, our hearts entwined

One more time...

Encore!

Endless longing

I've fallen in love

I can't help myself

Perhaps it's destiny

I grieve as the seasons change

I'm heart broken

I have only myself to blame

A drifter should not fall in love

He is a superb singer!

We should go home

before your Dad finds out

I hate this

We had a deal

Alright!

Let's go!

My love

Don't let me wallow anymore

Endless longing

Like layers of silk

Till death do we part

Our love will never change

I'm mesmerized!

Stop this nonsense! Let's go!

Let's have another dance!

Don't forget we had a deal!

Mom!

Are you alright?

I'll come to the hospital now

He is my good friend

Yuan Ping, you sing so well!

You're an instant hit!

Let's ask the manger to hire you

My mom is in the hospital, I must go!

Taxi!

Get in! It's hard to find one!

Alright!

I'll drop you off first

Where do you live?

Where are you going?

I have to go to the hospital

Let me take you home first

To the hospital please

My mom is in the hospital

We live at 36 Repulse Bay Road

Please hurry!

Yes!

Bye, Mr. Yuan Ping

Hurry, Miss!

Bye!

Hurry!

Come in!

Uncle Lee, how is my mom?

She's fine

Her blood pressure is a bit high

Which room is she in?

I gave her a shot, she is much better now!

I let her go home and rest

Her condition is not serious?

No, but she may have a relapse

You must take good care of her

Thank you, Uncle Lee

Your bill

has been sent to Accounts

Mom!

Mom, are you alright?

What about that medical bill?

Don't worry, Mom!

The doctor said you need rest

I'm fine!

Good morning

I want to see you

I have classes now

I'll see you at the Botanical Gardens after class

Alright!

Bye!

Yu Qing

Yu Qing...

How is it? Let me massage the pain!

How is it?

Don't do that!

People will think you're a molester!

You just try

Yu Qing, the first time I saw you...

I know, I feel the same

I come here and watch the sky and the sea

I always feel very lonely

See how big and blue the sky is!

Yet we are so small!

Having you beside me

is the best thing on earth!

What is happiness?

It's a feeling I have

when I'm next to you!

Were you unhappy?

You want to know?

I can't say I was unhappy

But I felt something was missing

Xiao Qing should qualify for college

It's a matter of choosing the right subjects

She is too young to make up her mind

That's why I need your advice

When the child grows up

I become increasingly worried

Her mother died too soon

That may affect her psychologically

I dare not find her a stepmother

She's still young

and facing the issue of higher education

She seems more interested in literature

She takes after her mother

Her level of training in music is quite high

Yet she dwells on her emotional life

I'm afraid she'll lose happiness

Perhaps it's best for her to pursue science

You're saying...

Let her study medicine. What do you think?

Dad!

I'm so thirsty! Uncle Law

You're too young to drink!

We were just talking about you

going to college

Dad, it is still early

I want you to become a doctor

Go abroad and get a degree!

Let's talk about this later

I'll go change

So childish!

Come!

I have homework to do, see you later!

What's the matter with you?

Let's work on the music

Something is bothering me

The girl I met the other night

I keep thinking about her!

What? Here?

Yes!

That night when you got me the job

But...

But what?

I want to earn more for my mother

By the way, how is your mom?

She's fine

But I can't pay her medical bills

Don't worry, we're still young

Money is not a problem

Yes, it's no big deal!

When there is love, life becomes meaningful

It's Yu Qing! Turn around!

I can't do that, sir!

Damn!

Look at the wind, look at the tide

The sea breeze is intoxicating

The tide brings happiness

We'll be together

Until eternity

This ecstasy at sea

Yuan Ping, I'm so happy!

I'm afraid this won't last!

You think too much

It's true!

We fell in love too fast and too easily

You're afraid we're like Romeo and Juliet?

You think your family will object?

I know my mom will like you

I'm an only child

My Dad has high hopes for me

I know

Yu Qing, you come from a rich family

I'm not worthy of you! Tell you what...

I've been to your house

to tune your piano

I didn't tell you until now!

What has the world come to?

You're supposed to take care of my daughter!

You're all loafers!

Doing nothing all day!

What's the matter with you?

Other than going to classes

Yu Qing hasn't done anything!

Let me ask you this

When did she meet this boy?

She didn't!

No? Who is he?

He's...

Say it!

He's...a singer

What?

This child...

Starting tomorrow

you will escort her to school

Don't let her out of your sight!

Yes, Sir

There's so many of you here

Yet not one of you is helpful!

Dad!

Dad!

Xiao Qing, school is out?

Ying, bring us some watermelon!

Yes!

Qing, you'll be going to college soon

You shouldn't run around all day

You should study

Qing, you're still young

Choose your friends carefully

You can wait till you finish college

There are evil people out there

I'm worried about you

Don't worry, Dad!

I know I'm at fault too

Because I don't spend enough time at home

You've worked all day, are you tired?

Don't worry, Mom!

Eat a bit more!

Why are you laughing?

Nothing!

Fu Sheng

TV station? I'll be right there!

Your business is my business!

I'll be there

I'm going to the TV station

Fu Sheng needs a singer

I'm filling in for him, bye!

This kid has been...

running around, singing all day

He should start planning ahead

Endless longing

I've fallen in love

I can't help myself

He sings so well!

Be quiet!

I grieve as the seasons change

I'm heartbroken

I have only myself to blame

A drifter should not fall in love

Why am I willing to wait

Why am I...

Why is this show so noisy?

Watch something else!

Let me finish watching this!

Social atmosphere is getting worse

All you see on TV is such degeneration

No wonder young people are so dispirited

Like layers of silk

Till death do we part

Our love will never change

He has talent but no opportunities

What can be done?

What are you talking about?

Come!

Miss, where are you going?

Stop nagging!

If your father finds out...

Be quiet!

If he finds out...

Which one should I take?

How about this one?

I need this for my history class

When you pick me up tomorrow

bring this with you!

What are you going to do with it?

If your father finds out...

Don't ask! I know what I'm doing

Get in!

I'll get another scolding!

Stop nagging! Go home now!

She's so childish!

Young lady, you're lucky!

If you take this anywhere else

You'll be cheated

How much is it worth?

Can I get $2,000?

$200?

Don't tell me it's $20,000

You can cash this right away in a bank

Where do you want to go eat after the movie?

Let's finish the movie first!

I want to eat now, I'm hungry!

Shall we go to a show after dinner?

What's with you today?

You're so talkative!

I cannot watch this, let's go!

Are you sure you're not hungry?

Yes!

Don't lie to me! Don't worry!

I have money!

Look!

Didn't you want to make a record?

Pick a song you like

Flowers in the rain

There's a flower in the rain

Fragrant and elegant

Why is it not blooming

under the warm sunlight?

Perhaps it's sorrow

Let the raindrops fall

Raindrops are tears and dreams

Raindrops are like longing

Tears are still wet when the dream is over

Raindrops on my heart

Flowers in the rain

Flowers in the rain

There's a flower in the rain

Exuding tenderness and love

You're a flower admirer

Accompanied by loneliness

Let the raindrops fall

Raindrops are tears and dreams

Raindrops are like longing

Tears are still wet when the dream is over

Raindrops on my heart

Flowers in the rain

I feel like a modern Romeo

Do I look like Juliet?

You are more sentimental

Quiet!

My Dad is like Juliet's father

He objects to me meeting boys

Yu Qing, don't worry!

If your Dad does not approve

we can run away

If she runs away

I'm doomed!

Come in!

Sir!

What is it?

Your daughter!

What about her?

There's someone in her room!

In her room?

What are you doing here?

I am here to tune the piano

Tune the piano?

Yes!

The piano is in the living room downstairs

What are you doing here?

Dad, this is my friend Yuan Ping

Shut up, I don't need your introduction

I don't want to know your unworthy friends

I don't care how you got in

You go out the same way!

Get out, you bastard!

Please don't get mad!

I'd like to come in through the front door

But you wouldn't let me!

Get out!

Please don't be angry!

Yuan Ping...

You little bitch!

No! Master, stop!

Sir!

Get out of my way!

Dad, please forgive me! I was wrong!

You have disgraced the family

Didn't I teach you anything?

Have you no shame?

You have broken my heart!

Dad, I did nothing wrong!

I blame myself for spoiling you

Or else you wouldn't do something like this!

Lonely alley under the moon

Do you carry Jing Ting's record?

Wait a moment please

Miss, how about this?

How is this record selling?

How much is this?

Twenty dollars

Yuan Ping, don't be disappointed!

You're new

Give it some time! It'll get better!

Let's hope so!

I have already apologized

If you don't go home

I'll be fired!

Stay out of this!

Please hurry home!

I suffer the consequences of your behaviour

Fine! We'll let bygones by bygones

I just ask one thing of you!

Just name it!

You know about Yuan Ping and me

Will you help us?

Yu Qing, let's be patient

You should listen to your Dad

We have so little time together

I will miss you

Me too

If we truly love each other

being apart for a while

does not matter!

Yu Qing

Did you find it?

No!

I took great trouble to find that rare piece

I hardly had time to appreciate it

Now it's gone!

What's wrong with you people?

Call the police!

Yes!

Hello, this is the Chan residence

We have lost something valuable

It's a world of thieves!

I must find the thief

who stole my Buddha!

Miss!

What is it?

About that Buddha...

You father has notified the police!

I dare not tell him you took it!

Stay away for a while!

What? You stole that Buddha?

Go now! The police is coming!

If you don't want me in jail, take me away!

No, I took the money

I must tell your father

No, he hates you already

You can't tell him

I stole the Buddha and gave you the money

No!

I'll accept all responsibilities

I don't want you to go to jail,

you fool! Let's go!

Hurry!

Hurry!

Bye!

I'm really worried

Don't worry! My Mom will like you

Have some tea, please!

It's getting late! Where is that boy?

Let's go!

If your son comes back

please have him contact us!

I will!

Goodbye!

Under the Victoria Peak

where can we go?

Don't worry, Yu Qing!

We'll find a place for us

Yuan Ping, you're all I have

As long as I have you

I have the courage to take on the world!

I can fight for a living

Are you cold or hungry?

I'm fine!

For sale

I'll explain to you later!

Please help me!

No problem, Yuan Ping

Air ticket, passport

Don't worry, I'll arrange everything!

I have already written to my sister

When you get to Singapore

everything will be arranged for you!

Fu Sheng, one more thing...

please take care of my mother

I cannot say goodbye to her

Thanks!

Sorry, we didn't make it!

By the time we arrived at the airport

they had already left for Singapore!

I didn't expect them to go abroad!

This child is spoiled and pampered

She cannot stand any suffering!

Perhaps I had them cornered

Please don't feel bad!

Children seldom appreciate their parents

They are difficult to deal with

Running away from such a family

We'll ask our Singaporean friends

to help locate them

As long as we find them

I'll not pursue the matter

Is this the place?

Yes!

Can I help you?

Is Miss Lin here?

No!

We're looking for Mrs. Wang

Is it Mrs. Wang Li San?

Yes!

They moved away a few months ago!

Moved?

Do you know where?

They did not leave a corresponding address

How can this be?

Her brother wrote her about us!

Yes!

Please wait!

We have just arrived

and we're running into a problem already!

Don't worry, I still have money!

Let's find a place to stay!

What shall we do?

I'll think of something

On the first night of our honeymoon

we can't sleep on the street!

Right!

This came from Hong Kong 2 days ago

There was no return address

We were unable to send it back!

It's from Fu Sheng!

Let's find a place to stay!

Thank you!

You're welcome!

Yu Qing, what are you thinking?

I'm thinking if...

we'd have had everyone's blessing

our honeymoon would be so much nicer

Our marriage

may not blessed by anyone

our love is enough to overcome any adversity

This is harder to come by than other marriages

Don't be sad. From this day onwards

the world belongs to us

Our love will never change

I love you

The manager said there is room upstairs

It's alright

It has a different feel

Sorry about this!

Don't be!

Do you want it?

Just let me know!

You can talk all you want later!

Sorry...

How much is the rent for a day?

$8 plus tips

If you use the fan

$2 more each day

Our policy is cash in advance

Here's the rent for 2 days

We don't need the fan

That's all we have left!

I know!

Yuan Ping, I'm sorry about this!

No! I got you into this mess!

No, we deserve each other!

No one should be blamed!

I will get a job soon

We'll move into a better place

Our own place

Of course

You'll have to put up with being broke

I don't mind!

I'm just worried that you'll leave me!

You're not answering my question!

Are you hiring?

Sorry, we have no vacancies

But the ad says...

You're too late!

Yu Qing, open the door!

Open up, Yu Qing

Yu Qing

Yu Qing

Hurry, open the door!

Coming!

Yuan Ping

Yu Qing

I miss you so much

I have tried all the ads in the newspaper

Nothing!

Yuan Ping...

It's hard to find a job

We'll try our luck! Have some bread!

I'll drink water

Come!

I have eaten already, I'm not hungry

Don't lie to me, you must be starving!

Really! I just wanted to lie down

You stomach is growling!

Yuan Ping, get up...

What?

I'm really not hungry

You must eat

The Cross Country Motorcycling Championship

It'll be a tight race!

We have finally reached the mountain road

Now the bikers will show their true colors

We bring you bad news

No.13 lost control of the bike

and went down the cliff

Where is Room 28?

Over there!

Is this Room 28?

No, over there!

There!

The injured biker is my husband

You're his wife?

I must tell you

He has multiple fractures on his leg

He's lucky to be alive!

He's still in a coma

I have become a cripple!

Don't cry!

How about a month?

Alright, sign here!

You're awake?

Yu Qing, where have you been?

I have good news

I found a job

So soon! Doing what?

In a kindergarten

doing what I do best

teaching piano and singing

Turning a hobby into a living!

I have 1 month's salary in advance

I bought this for you!

Don't worry, things will get better

How are the kids?

What kids?

Kids from the kindergarten

Great! They are quite naughty

Look at you, you are a kid yourself!

Teaching kids already!

Yuan Ping, you love children so much

wait till you are well

We'll have one of our own

Alright?

Do not cherish something fancy

Cherish time instead

Do the right things while you can

Don't pass up on the opportunity

Time has passed, too late for regrets

Love is gone, the dream is gone

As time goes by

No one lingers on the past

Do not cherish something fancy

Cherish time instead

Do the right things while you can

Don't pass up on the opportunity

Time has passed, tears are gone

Love is gone, you're all alone

As time goes by

Don't cherish the past

Whose is this?

Not mine!

Is it yours?

Wait for me!

Bye!

Leaving already?

Yes!

Lily, let me take you home!

No! That's too much trouble!

Not at all! Let's go!

Taxi

Where are you going?

I need to go to Zhongshan Hospital

Where were you?

Out for a walk!

Did you see someone drop me off?

That's one of my students' chauffeur

You've had it bad!

I am leaving the hospital tomorrow

After that, you don't have to work so hard!

It's alright!

Thinking about having you home tomorrow

I'm thrilled!

Yuan Ping, you should see our new home

It's small but decorated

It's cozy and warm

Have you been drinking?

Drinking? No!

I know why

My student was having a party

They insisted that I drink

That's it!

Go to sleep. It'll be tomorrow soon!

I'll leave when you fall asleep

You should go home

I'm worried about you being out late alone

Then I'll go now!

Bye!

Auntie, don't worry!

The record sales is doing very well

Yuen Ping will come back when he hears the news

Without him

all this money is useless!

Auntie, I will find him

Tell him I miss him so much

I cannot eat or sleep

My heart feels laden with a rock

I'm having nightmares

Yu Qing, get up!

Let me sleep for a little while

Hurry, you will be late for school!

Thanks!

I'm late, the principal will scold me

Bye!

She's the prettiest girl in this club

Forget it, you're not worthy of her

I wonder why she's late tonight

You want to talk to me?

Can you stay later tonight?

I need you here

No, we agreed I wouldn't have to work late!

Tonight is different

Don't worry, I will pay you!

Lily

Your overtime pay

You haven't eaten

Sorry, let's eat now!

I'm not hungry

Don't look at me like that!

Are you cross with me for coming home so late?

There was a party over at one of the student's place

I simply couldn't get away

I'm telling you the truth!

What's wrong with you?

Tell me, who made you stay?

You have been lying to me all along!

I did not...

Every word is a lie!

I never thought you'd do this!

How much longer are you going to lie to me?

You betrayed yourself and cheated on me!

Don't be like this...

I did nothing wrong, Yuan Ping!

You have to trust me, you must!

I have a contract with them for a month

I have spent all the money

I will quit once you're out of the hospital

But...

Yu Qing, I am sorry

Oh god, how could I hit you like that!

Uncle, relax!

I will try and contact Yuan Ping

I have tried to locate him

but no news at all

It's my responsibility

I helped them get away

I must get them back!

I did the wrong thing

and drove them away!

I've felt so bad ever since!

I know how you feel

I feel the same

There is no use worrying!

Fu Sheng, let's go!

Bye!

Auntie, let's go!

Today is Yu Qing's last day!

We'll start a new life tomorrow

I must do what a man should do

You're the most beautiful girl I have hired

It's a pity that you're quitting

Looks like our manager

has taken a fancy to her!

She already quit!

She doesn't drink

She doesn't know how to serve her customers

Yet she has many admirers!

Fu Sheng, it's a long story since we parted

To live a drifting life is not easy

Yu Qing and I want to come home

and start a new life

We must face the consequence of our actions

Please help us!

I have confidence in a new career

I have to take Yu Qing away from here

Please turn the car around

Lily, won't you give me time

to have a drink with you?

I have someone waiting at home

I have always respected you

and considered you a friend

I can't believe you will resort to this

just to keep me here

Please trust me

I will let you go after this drink

It's going to rain soon

Let me show you to the door

Wait! Let me get an umbrella

Why the long face?

Have I done something wrong?

Don't be like this, you are so beautiful!

It's not very becoming of you

Yu Qing

Yuen Ping, don't come over!

It's dangerous over there!

Listen to me, come to me!

It's too late! I've had enough

I don't have the courage to live anymore

We can start all over again

Come back, we have to face the reality!

Yu Qing, please don't die on me!

Yu Qing...

Yu Qing...

Yuan Ping, where are we going now?

Where else can we go?

I have to take you home

Mom and Dad are waiting for us

We have to go back home
