Sister.

Where are you going?

(I never thought I was a good person,)

(but I never imagined)

(that one day)

(I'd meet someone far worse than me.)

(Our connection)

(began with a misguided act of revenge.)

(He's my younger brother)

Tonight

is Lu Department Stores' annual show.

All the city's elites will attend.

Girls, get all dolled up.

If you want to rise in status, tonight is your chance.

(Lu Siyan, Heir of the Lu Family)

Siyan.

(Tang Pingjun, Hostess) You officially take over Lu Group today,

fulfilling Father's wish.

(Shen Mochen, Police Chief) I brought Mochen with me today

(Lu Yijing, The Lu Family's Heiress) to congratulate you.

Siyan, congratulations.

A toast to you.

Siyan.

I truly admire you.

You're always surrounded by beautiful women.

Each is more stunning than the other.

You're indeed a womanizer,

an expert.

I'm no match for you.

Just please my sister,

and you'll live a life of wealth and luxury.

You didn't need to do anything.

Hey.

Mochen, look!

(Xiaotao, Lu Department Stores' Staff) I picked her myself.

She's the model Lu Group is heavily promoting this year.

How gorgeous.

Could she be

the surprise finale tonight?

She's definitely the next supermodel.

(Lin Chuning, Lu Department Stores Staff)

I can't believe Lu Department Stores

has such a breathtaking beauty.

(Humph, a supermodel?)

(I'll see how you get off that stage.)

This looks nice.

If you like it,

please head to the VIP room

for us to take your measurements.

No need for that.

I want the one you're wearing.

I'll wrap it up right away.

I want it now.

Ms. Lu.

Did I

do a mistake?

Mochen.

I want it right now.

Yijing asked you to give it to her,

so you must do so.

Who do you think you are?

Don't you know whose place this is?

Mochen.

You're not even officially family yet.

Already overstepping?

Aren't you too eager?

Siyan!

Put the gun away.

You can live off a woman,

but act humble outside.

Don't let yourself choke on it.

Listen up.

In Lu Department Stores,

my rule

is that I don't allow anyone to bully

beautiful women.

Go!

I heard

you refused an arranged marriage,

so your father scolded you for days.

Why not

stay at my place tonight?

I'll help you blow off steam.

You're too greedy,

I spent the day with you,

so of course I'll spend the night with others.

I have plans.

Go.

Get in.

Be good.

Let me go.

Don't come closer.

Don't move.

Don't come closer.

Or I'll shoot.

Lu Siyan has countless women.

You think he'll remember you?

Who do you think gave me this gun?

Mr. Siyan gave it to me.

If you don't want to offend him,

let me go.

Even a sweet girl can bite.

Interesting.

Get her!

I'll show her

offending me for Lu Siyan

has its price.

Stop!

Run.

Stay back!

Weren't you tough just now?

Follow me back to the police station.

Don't be stupid.

- Stay back. - Come on!

Wait!

Try touching her.

You've got a death wish.

You grew up in an orphanage?

Yes.

I'm sorry.

I was late.

Mr. Siyan.

My sister said

all men are trash.

You're just like Chief Shen.

Afraid I'll fall for you

or afraid I won't take responsibility

once I do?

I...

Don't move.

Mr. Siyan.

Can I

stay by your side?

I'm afraid Chief Shen

will give me trouble.

Sure.

It must be exhausting to pretend.

You're too rough.

I don't like it.

If we don't make it convincing,

how will he believe it?

Chuning.

This is far too dangerous.

Lu Siyan isn't what he seems.

He's a spoiled and reckless heir.

Getting close to him

isn't the only way to take Lu Group from him.

I'm not trying to get close to him.

I want to kill him.

He must pay the price

for Xiaorou's death.

But you saw it yourself.

Lu Siyan didn't take the bait.

No.

He already did.

A spoiled heir like Lu Siyan

is used to women throwing themselves at him.

He suddenly met someone different.

He won't let go that easily.

Stubborn and clever sweet girl.

Good acting.

But

how did you get Shen Mochen to play along?

He's busy climbing the ranks.

Unless you knew each other and colluded with each other

to set me up.

Am I right?

I was just wondering

when it would be interesting to get exposed?

Feeling pity for me

is just a temporary novelty.

Being hard to get

and impossible to read

is what

drives a person crazy.

Isn't it?

You're clever.

I like clever women.

Mr. Siyan.

What do you want a clever woman like me

to do?

Marry me.

(Lu Group)

Why bring me to try on clothes?

- I plan to announce our engagement - Change.

- at my birthday banquet tonight. - Change.

So I need you to stun the crowd.

Change again.

Again.

What do you think?

After marrying into the Lu family,

do you know what to do?

Be a gentle and virtuous wife,

a filial and sensible daughter-in-law,

a mistress who handles the house,

so that my husband can indulge outside

with peace of mind.

Bang.

Wrong.

You need to show your true self.

Make them hate you.

Make marrying you a disgrace.

The best case is to make them kick me out of the family.

Got it?

In that case...

Sure.

(This looks like a matching piece)

(to the peace amulet Xiaorou has worn since childhood.)

Do you wear this all the time?

Sometimes.

It's from my mother.

You like it?

(If they're really a pair,)

(could Xiaorou)

(be a daughter of the Lu family?)

Tonight,

I'll announce the good news to everyone.

Darling.

Sure.

(In that case,)

- (tonight's birthday banquet) - (Tonight's birthday banquet)

- (will be exciting.) - (will be exciting.)

(Lu Residence)

You worked hard to prepare this banquet.

It's nothing.

Siyan.

- Here. - Here.

Happy birthday.

Thank you, Father.

Whose daughter is that?

I've never seen her before.

Isn't she that mermaid girl

from the fashion show?

Yes.

She was invited to Mr. Siyan's party.

No wonder

she was the finale.

(Mr. Lu, Lu Siyan's Father) She outshone everyone.

(Mr. Lu, Lu Siyan's Father) Mr. Siyan even defended her.

Seems like their relationship

isn't simple.

You're right,

but

she's really beautiful.

Sorry,

I'm late.

It's alright.

At least you stole the spotlight.

You remember what to do?

Of course.

Very good.

Everyone,

thank you for coming.

Today,

I want to announce something important.

Her appearance

is a gift from the heaven.

She

will soon become my...

I did

want to use you to marry into the Lu family

and enjoy endless wealth and status.

But now I realize

I can still have it all

without you.

Stop.

Good evening, everyone.

Actually,

today isn't just Mr. Lu's birthday.

It's mine too.

Let me introduce myself.

I'm Lu Siyan's

twin sister.

(Mrs. Lu, Lu Siyan's Mother)

We were born on the same day,

month, and year.

Lu

Chu

Ning.

=Episode 2= (Are You Admitting Defeat Willingly or Not?)

(Lu Residence)

The matron said

this lucky charm was on me

when I was found.

I guess

it must've been from my birth parents.

Until that day,

I noticed Mr. Lu was wearing

a pendant that looked like it matched mine.

I asked around at many stores.

They all told me this jade is one of a kind.

They were originally one whole.

That's why

I found the courage to come to you.

Siyan, where's your jade pendant?

This is my daughter's jade pendant.

You really are my daughter.

Master,

I was actually pregnant with twins.

But the girl died right after she was born.

I didn't want you to be upset,

so I had the midwife secretly bury her.

All these years, I treated Jing like my own daughter

because I could never let go of our lost daughter.

Heaven has shown us mercy.

You're still alive after all.

Mother.

Chuning, life must've been hard on you.

We'll pick an auspicious day

to officially welcome you back into the family.

Thank you, Father.

Mother, you abandoned her easily.

Now, you're claiming her just as easily.

Siyan,

I didn't abandon your elder sister.

She's not my sister.

It's just a pendant.

Who knows how she got her hands on it?

Brat,

she's your sister.

If you don't wish the Lu family

to become the laughingstock of the city,

you'd better get rid

of all those ridiculous ideas.

Chuning,

my poor girl.

Mother,

as long as I can reunite with you and Father,

everything is worth it.

Ms. Chuning,

your room is ready.

Please get some rest.

(This is so unfair.)

(How could a scumbag like Lu Siyan)

(get to enjoy such a luxurious life?)

(Xiaorou,)

(I'll take back everything that should've been yours.)

So this is how you got into the Lu family?

Lu Siyan,

I'm your sister.

Sister?

What kind of sister are you?

What sister

treats her brother like this?

What sister

would set up her own brother

just to serve her own ends?

Hmm?

I think

there's a misunderstanding between us.

Misunderstanding?

Do you have feelings for me?

Or

are you after something else?

Hmm?

Does it even matter now?

Of course it does.

It helps me decide

whether, once your cover is blown,

you die

or live to suffer.

Be a good boy.

Chuning,

are you asleep?

Lu Siyan,

let go of me.

Do you think that

if my father finds out

you set me up,

will he still acknowledge you as his daughter?

Beg me.

Chuning,

are you asleep?

Lest you're too blind to see the obvious,

dear sister.

Chuning.

Father.

It's the middle of the night.

Why are you in your sister's room?

She asked me

to help her tidy up.

Chuning,

your mother and I owed you so much.

I asked around.

Surprisingly, my daughter

is the top salesperson at Lu Department Store.

So I've decided

to promote you to Sales Section Chief.

Consider it a small way to make up for what you went through.

Thank you, Father.

Brat,

go back to your room.

Congrats.

Mr. Siyan,

what's your plan?

My parents are easily fooled.

I'm not.

(Cong, Lu Siyan's sidekick) Run a background check on her.

Don't let the impostor in.

Yes.

I heard

Ms. Chuning's colleagues often bully her.

Should I give them a warning?

I believe she must have some tricks up her sleeve

to be the Young Lady Lu.

Besides,

do you really think they could bully her?

(Lu Group)

Well, well.

Isn't this the fragile lady who flirted with both Mr. Siyan and Chief Shen,

to fight over you?

Why aren't you living it up in their cage,

instead of coming here to steal our jobs?

Or maybe,

you've been used

and tossed aside

like this rag?

Lin Chuning!

What's going on?

You shameless tramp.

I'll kill you.

Do not be rude.

(Supervisor of the Lu Department Store) She's the young lady of the Lu family

and the most distinguished person

in the entire Lu Department Store next to Master Lu and Mr. Siyan.

I profusely apologize, Ms. Chuning.

It's fine.

But if I were you,

I'd resign.

I'm vindictive, after all.

From now on,

keep this in mind.

Always watch your back.

Just in case

someone hits you,

and no one's there to save you.

Starting from today,

Lu Department Store will not tolerate misconduct.

Anyone who mistreats an employee

will be punished.

- Yes, Ms. Chuning. - Yes, Ms. Chuning.

What a pleasure you have enjoyed as the young master.

Only showing up

after the store's closed.

It's your first day of your appointment.

I didn't want to steal your thunder.

I'll take you somewhere.

Scared?

Let's go.

Wait.

Put this on.

Why do I feel like

I'm floating?

Scared?

Well?

Isn't it beautiful?

We're in a hot air balloon.

The sunset is stunning.

In such a beautiful place,

it's the perfect time to tell the truth.

Instead of being paranoid,

why not enjoy the view?

You really should appreciate

such a beautiful view

while you still can.

Take a few more looks.

Could be the very last.

You're going to kill me?

We're a thousand meters above ground.

The perfect place to dump a body.

Let's play a game.

Let's see how lucky you are.

If you're lucky,

all I can say is

that you might just survive.

What's your real reason for coming into the Lu family?

Say it.

What do you want me to say?

Five.

Four.

I'm the daughter of the Lu family.

I just want to go back to my family.

Three.

I'm telling the truth.

What exactly do you want me to say?

You have one last chance.

Say it.

(I can only take the risk now.)

I just want to know.

Why did my parents abandon me?

Why did they let me suffer so much

and never come back for me?

I just want to live.

Your chance is up.

There's no bullet in here.

Are you insane?

If I ever find out you lied to me,

I'll be even more insane.

This.

A gift for you.

Treasure it.

(Lu Siyan,)

(you'll find out soon enough that)

(your sister is even crazier than you.)

(Lin Chuning,)

(I'd like to see what other tricks you can pull.)

(Lu Residence)

Mochen,

what are you doing here?

I brought breakfast for Jing.

Do you want to try some?

Thanks.

Why are you suddenly the young lady of the Lu family?

It doesn't affect our plan.

Lu Siyan messed up the marriage alliance.

Mr. Lu is already furious now.

Let's add some fuel to the fire.

Trick him into taking out a high-interest loan.

Now that you've been accepted as Lu's daughter,

Li Siyan is your blood brother.

Can you really bear

to see him ruined?

Rou may be his blood sister,

but she'd struggled her whole life.

And him?

Born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

It's time to let him taste hardship.

(Lu Siyan,)

(the first gift)

(is on its way.)

Flying

is a dangerous yet enchanting sport.

Just like what you're about to do.

Up in the boundless skies,

you must not only soar high...

(How lucky I am)

(to be a pilot.)

(Right now, the beautiful homeland)

(is ravaged by war.)

(I hope my wings)

(could bring peace to our home.)

I'm heading off.

Okay.

Mr. Siyan,

now that Ms. Lin is your sister,

your previous plan won't work anymore.

What are you going to do?

Since Lin Chuning is so desperate to come back to the family,

let her take over all that mess.

I'll play the son who makes trouble and wastes money.

Father won't stand by

while I drain the family fortune.

I don't think you actually dislike Ms. Lin.

In fact, you seem to admire her.

Do you like her?

You've grown a pair, huh?

I have my own plans.

(Lu Group)

Lu Siyan is an unworthy general manager!

Give me back my hard-earned money!

- Pay up! - Pay up!

- The doors are open. Rush in! - Pay up!

Go!

Don't touch me.

I don't care who you are,

you have to pay what you owe!

Or I'll jump.

All right, all right. Calm down.

Let's talk nicely.

You!

Don't come closer.

One step closer, and I'm jumping.

Why haven't you jumped yet?

Mr. Siyan owes me wages.

That money is important to me.

Owe?

It's for the cash flow issue.

I'll pay you back.

Why made a fuss over it?

The bigger the scene, the better.

I want my dad to know.

Don't worry.

I won't take even a single dime of your money.

You won't lose your jobs, either.

Okay.

(Lin Chuning,)

(let's see)

(once the old man finds out you tricked me into taking out a loan,)

(will he still let you stay in the Lu Group?)

(Well,)

(you're getting kicked out with me.)

(As if.)

Didn't you say you were going to jump?

Go on.

What?

Scared now?

Still hesitating?

Dying like this isn't satisfying.

How about I give you a hand?

Mr. Siyan.

What are you doing?

I'm helping him out.

Life's hard.

Wouldn't it be better to be born rich like you

in his next life?

Stop wasting your time.

Let me help you out.

I'm not jumping.

(Looks like the loan trick isn't going to work on Lu Siyan.)

(I'll have to use myself as bait)

(to drive him out of the Lu family.)

Enough with your acting?

Do you people in power

really love controlling others?

Yeah.

We do. So what?

Why is it that you make the mistakes,

and we're the ones who have to die?

I'll keep on living.

I'll trample on all of you.

I'll make the world

afraid of me.

What a dumb.

♪Even if this was an inescapable fate♪

Lu Siyan,

you love pushing people

into the abyss, don't you?

♪Burning♪

What are you trying to do?

You've lost.

Why did your sister fall down?

Luckily, there was a rescue cushion below.

If your sister hadn't been there,

the Lu family's century-old reputation would've been ruined by you.

Don't think I don't think what you're thinking.

You'd better give up that idea now.

As long as I'm alive,

I'll never let you go to that ridiculous flight academy.

(Flight academy?)

(He wants to join the army?)

Father, please don't be angry.

It's my fault for not keeping him in line.

That's how he became like this.

You've just returned.

Your mother and I have spoiled him too much.

You don't need to return to the department store now.

Chuning,

you'll temporarily take over as general manager.

Father,

isn't that a bit inappropriate?

There's nothing inappropriate about it.

He's never serious about his job.

He can only have it back once he realizes his mistakes.

It is all

in vain.

You!

Still have the nerve to talk like that?

Go to your room and reflect on yourself.

Without my permission,

you're not leaving your room.

Get lost.

(This little punishment isn't enough.)

(Lu Siyan,)

(the second gift is ready.)

This mung bean cake is really good.

I never let myself buy it before.

Try it.

How nice of you.

But how do I know

you're not trying to poison me?

Is this

some carrot-and-stick trick?

Right?

Of course

I want to poison you.

Just kidding.

You're being serious.

I've always had the feeling that compared to the family fortune,

what you're after is my life.

Actually, I have a sister.

We grew up together at the Foundling Home.

We aren't related by blood,

but we're closer than family.

She is with me

through all the hardest times.

So pretty.

Xiaorou.

(Xiaorou, Lin Chuning's best friend) We were born in the same year and same day.

So we're real sisters from now on.

Chuning.

Xiaorou.

What's going on? You look so happy.

I have a crush on a guy.

Really?

Who is he?

It's Young Master Lu Siyan.

And then?

Where is she now?

(She died because of you.)

Xiaorou!

Xiaorou!

What happened to you, Xiaorou?

Don't scare me.

Lu Siyan didn't want our baby.

I was too silly.

Avenge me.

You'll be seeing her soon.

Why would I want to see her?

(Because)

(scumbags go to hell.)

Chuning.

Chuning,

you killed him?

Chuning.

Chuning.

You killed him?

He was born into a life of wealth and privilege.

His family adored him.

Yet even so,

he dared to trample Xiaorou like she was nothing.

Doesn't he deserve to die?

I want to make him suffer.

Ruin his name.

Let him die in agony.

Chuning,

congratulations.

You've officially taken full control of the Lu family.

I know

you hate Lu Siyan.

But I can't bear to see you hurt, not even a little.

Right now,

protecting the two of us is what matters most.

Mochen!

What are you two doing?

Something has happened!

Young misses.

It's Mr. Siyan. He's in trouble!

Mr. Siyan has been poisoned.

Is it serious?

Is his life in danger?

Thankfully, we caught it early.

Any later, it would've been too late.

Provide him with this remedy

according to the prescription.

He'll be free of poison

within three days.

How did this happen?

Spread the word. I want a full investigation.

Turn the entire Lu residence upside down

to find the culprit.

(Lu Residence)

Kneel!

I treated you with kindness and trust.

And you tried to kill my son?

I must've been blind to believe you.

Siyan is my younger brother.

Why would I hurt him?

It's because he's your brother that you wanted him gone.

That way, the Lu family would be all yours.

You'd even kill your own blood?

How heartless can you be?

I did not poison him.

Still denying it?

He was poisoned after eating your mung bean cake.

The maids saw you sneaking out of the room last night.

If it wasn't you, then who?

Mother, no need to waste time on her.

We can search her, and the truth will speak for itself.

You shouldn't have coveted Shen Mochen.

Mother, look!

Wretched girl.

So it was you.

Mother.

That's not all she did.

She even stirred up the servants to cause chaos

just to strip Siyan of his inheritance.

What a wicked heart.

I never should've taken you in.

If I really wanted to harm him,

why would I poison

the snacks I made myself?

That is such

a foolish move.

This was clearly a setup!

I see.

Still won't admit it?

Beat her.

Don't stop until she confesses!

Yes, Madam!

Stop!

Siyan?

Stay back.

He really wasn't holding back. It actually hurts.

Here, it's for the bruises.

Drink it.

You poisoned yourself, didn't you?

Was it that obvious?

The mighty Young Master Lu.

You harm yourself

just to drive me out of the family.

In that case,

what's with this act trying to save me?

Just wanted to remind you.

You don't get to have your way

in this house.

If I want you alive,

you live.

If I want you dead,

you die.

Now drink the medicine.

And take this money.

There's a hole in the southern wall.

So crawl out and leave the Lu family.

Don't come back.

If I die,

I'll die right here in the Lu family.

Guess that hit wasn't hard enough.

How about a bet?

What kind of bet?

If I walk out of this woodshed

within two hours,

you'll acknowledge me

as your elder sister.

I'll see you in two hours.

- A fire broke out! - Fire!

Hurry!

That crazy woman...

Are you insane?

You set a fire?

You're coming with me!

Don't touch me!

The timing is not right.

Oh, you want to put up a show, huh?

It's still not enough?

Fine, let's put on a show together!

Fire!

Siyan!

Mother,

don't go!

Hurry! Siyan!

Siyan!

(It's time.)

What are you doing?

I haven't taken my money!

Let me go!

Are you crazy?

What's more important?

Come with me!

- Siyan! - Don't go!

Someone is coming out!

I'm sorry, Mother.

It's all my fault.

I didn't realize

they not only try to frame me,

but they also want to kill me.

Mother,

I nearly got Siyan killed.

I don't care what happens to me.

But I can't let Si Yan get caught up in this

and have you think badly of me.

Enough.

You're both safe and that's all that matters.

Go and rest.

Wow, what a performance.

You make up lies

like it's second nature.

Amazing.

Siyan,

you lost the bet.

Wait.

My money was burned in the fire.

You owe me.

All you care about is money.

Not all of us

were born with a silver spoon.

Fine.

I'll pay you.

Here!

I can't believe you're picking them up.

Is it a shame to love money?

Do you think this amount

can chase me out of this house?

What do you take me for?

Mr. Siyan,

we found it.

Okay.

Lin Chuning,

it looks like you're leaving

whether you want to or not.

(Lu Residence)

I picked up this pendant

at the Foundling Home.

(Ms. Lin, Matron of Foundling Home) My mother believes

my sister

didn't die at birth.

But ended up at the Foundling Home.

So

Ms. Lin,

could you take a look?

Have you seen

this pendant before?

Miss Chuning,

Mr. Siyan says

if you say something,

both you and the matron

will be shot.

(This pendant...)

Xiaorou,

did you drop this?

Here you go.

Don't cry.

I've already put it on for you.

I remember now.

I think that pendant belonged

to Chuning.

Are you certain

this belongs to Chuning?

Yes, it belongs to Chuning.

I'm certain of it.

The design is unique.

So I'd never forget it.

So this is why you wanted my jade pendant?

Chuning?

I thought I wouldn't see you today.

Once I heard you were here,

I rushed back early.

Are you happy now?

My dear,

Siyan was just being cautious.

Please don't blame him.

Siyan,

can you return the pendant

to me now?

Father.

Mother.

Since Siyan doesn't want to acknowledge me as his sister,

perhaps I should move out of the Lu Residence

and return to the Foundling Home.

Don't just sit there.

Apologize to your sister now.

Did you hear me?

It's okay, Father.

I'm sure

Siyan didn't mean it.

Don't be too hard on him.

So, why did you want

to see me?

Ms. Lin,

Siyan will investigate this place soon.

Could you cover for me

and say this pendant is mine?

Okay.

You're not mad at me, Ms. Lin?

That pendant

did belong to Xiaorou.

But I took her place

and her identity.

I watched you grow up.

I understand exactly

what type of person you are.

Otherwise,

I wouldn't have trusted you with the Foundling Home.

I'm sure

you have your reasons.

Thank you so much.

Ms. Lin,

thank you for today.

Silly girl.

You've done a great job looking after the Home.

I made the right choice.

You've grown up

into a fine matron.

Don't worry.

The Foundling Home is my real home.

As long as I am capable,

I'll make sure my sisters never go hungry.

Remember,

the Foundling Home

will always be your home.

I'll be going now.

Chuning.

Take me back to the Foundling Home.

Yes, Miss Chuning.

Sit up front.

I'm not going to.

You haven't apologized.

I'm sorry.

Say that again.

Chuning,

I'm sorry.

Good boy.

(Your real sister was already killed)

(by you, a monster in a suit.)

(No matter how many times you apologize,)

(it won't atone for all the sins you've committed.)

The only reason I address you as my sister

and agreed to pick you up

is that I lost a bet.

It's not because I wanted to.

Lu Siyan,

the real reason you won't admit I'm your sister

is because you're hiding something.

Hiding something?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

You, the charming young master of the Lu family,

have been with countless women.

Who knows how many you have ruined?

Don't tell me you don't know what I mean.

Lin Chuning,

what are you trying to do?

Lu Siyan,

haven't you ever had other thoughts

about me?

Lin Chuning, don't push it.

Me? Pushing it?

You wanted it so bad.

You have so much passion.

Just to satisfy your desires,

you've done far worse things.

What do you care about status?

Lu Siyan,

ask yourself.

You never once thought about it?

You love the thrill.

Why don't we go all the way?

(Lu Residence)

I'm not as filthy as you think.

I'd appreciate it

if you knew when to stop.

Is that so?

Coward.

Drive.

I saw what happened

in the car.

That was quite the sacrifice

you made.

You have to give something up to get what you want.

You're backing down now?

Me? Never.

The moment you took me in,

I swore I'd stand by your side

no matter what.

Get up.

The Foundling Home only takes in girls.

We don't take boys here.

You'll have to leave.

Since I have saved you,

I'll have your back from now on.

I've arranged a place

for you to stay.

You can just move in.

I'll come visit often.

How's the investigation

on Lu Siyan going?

I found out he's been staying overnight

at Xianli Capital.

That place is hiding something.

(Xianli Capital)

(I'm sure he's involved)

(in shady dealings with them.)

(Once I uncover the secret,)

(Lu Siyan's reputation will be ruined.)

Chuning,

let me handle this.

Don't act rashly.

Sister?

What sister?

(Once you're in the afterlife,)

(we'll see if you still dare to acknowledge your sister.)

Hello, Mr. Siyan.

Why are you drowning your sorrows all alone?

Now that you've found your long-lost sister,

you've completely forgotten about me?

Compared to her,

you think you measure up?

You...

You're drunk.

Open another bottle.

Mr. Siyan,

you've had enough. Let me help you back.

I want to drink more.

Come with me.

Watch your steps.

I haven't had enough drinks.

I'm not drunk.

(Lu Siyan?)

(This qipao...)

(Why does it look so familiar?)

(It's the one I gave Xiaorou.)

(There are signs she lived here.)

A pocket watch?

(Siyan,)

(I'm pregnant with your child.)

(Waiting for you.)

(Xiaorou?)

(Why are Xiaorou's things here?)

(Don't tell me Xiaorou was...)

(No.)

(That can't be.)

(She died in my arms that night.)

It's all thanks to your protection over the years.

(Mr. Gao, Lu Siyan's Uncle) Wenrou Lounge is thriving.

We're family, so I won't stand on ceremony.

There are a few girls at the Foundling Home

who are just about the right age.

Still untouched.

I'll have them delivered in a few days.

Only the best

for you.

(Lu Siyan is not at the bar.)

(Could Mochen be right)

(about some shady deals going on?)

(What's this?)

(Ylang-ylang?)

(They are used in perfumes and have aphrodisiac properties.)

(This beast.)

Let me take you back.

The boss said

he'll send for you again once the new girls arrive.

(Lu Siyan.)

Lin Chuning.

Are you crazy?

Do you even know

what kind of place that is?

Of course I do!

It's where men go to indulge

and where women are ruined!

Let me go!

Since you know

it's a place that destroys lives,

you should stay away from it.

Do you hear me?

I said, do you hear me?

Lu Siyan,

what are you trying to do?

Don't ever let me see you there again.

Got it?

Chuning, from what you're saying,

Lu Siyan not only set up Wenrou Lounge,

but he's also trafficking young girls too.

I'm not entirely sure

if he's directly tied to Wenrou Lounge.

But I'm certain

that Xiaorou's death

is connected to him.

Chuning,

what did you say?

Xiaorou is dead?

But didn't you say

she went home to search for her family?

I was afraid you'd say something at the Foundling Home

and upset the other girls.

So I didn't dare

to tell you the truth.

Lu Siyan

has always been a playboy.

But I don't think

he would stoop this low.

Whatever the case,

Mochen,

please save those girls.

Then the only way is to kill Lu Siyan.

Who's out there?

Show yourself.

It's me.

Chuning,

should I kill him?

Mr. Gao is Lu Siyan's uncle.

He must have complicated connections to the Wenrou Lounge.

If he tells Lu Siyan,

we're done for.

I'm not his uncle.

Back then, your great-grandfather brought me into the family just to ward off bad luck.

But not long after,

your father was born.

I didn't even change my surname. I'm still Gao.

To Lu Siyan,

the three of us are the same.

We are outsiders.

Mochen,

Mr. Gao has been supporting

the Foundling Home all these years.

I don't wish to be ungrateful.

But just in case,

we should tie him up.

Mr. Gao,

you'll have to stay here for a few days.

We'll figure out what to do with you

once we're done with Lu Siyan.

is what I wanted to do.

I wanted to save you,

but you wanted to kill me.

Drop your act.

Tell me.

Why was my pocket watch

with you?

You...

Just now...

Yes.

I'm asking you

why you had my pocket watch.

You know why.

What do you mean?

Lu Siyan,

you're a scumbag.

Xiaorou and I

won't let you off,

even if we go to hell.

Xiaorou?

You gave her this pocket watch,

and you don't remember her name?

I only lost this a while ago.

The Xiaorou you're talking about

is...

Don't come near me.

Don't.

You screamed a lot.

Why aren't you screaming now?

Go on and scream.

I said scream.

I'll be good.

I beg of you.

Wretched woman.

Let's see what I'll do to you.

Who are you?

She's mine.

Thank you.

You're here, Mr. Lu.

Mr. Siyan,

this is your second time here.

You always sit and drink.

Are you not happy with me?

No, that's not it.

Come sit.

I didn't do anything to her.

I was afraid she'd misunderstand me,

so I paid the bartender regularly.

I never saw her again.

(Wait.)

(Xiaorou always wore her lucky charm.)

(If Lu Siyan really slept with her,)

(there's no way he wouldn't have noticed.)

(Could I have misunderstood him?)

(Was the child Xiaorou carried)

(someone else's?)

(But if she didn't sleep with him,)

(why would she be so sure it was his?)

What are you looking at?

I wasn't looking at you.

So,

you went to Wenrou Lounge

to look for Xiaorou?

Why did you go there?

I want to find the one behind it all

and stop more innocents from getting hurt.

Have you found them?

Do you remember

the ylang-ylang plant outside the study at Wenrou Lounge?

Yes.

That flower

is hard to care for,

which makes it rare.

One day,

I smelled ylang-ylang

on my uncle,

so I followed him.

Then,

I ended up outside the study at Wenrou Lounge.

Mr. Gao?

At first,

I thought this was dangerous.

But now I feel like you have to know.

If not,

who knows you might come after me?

Hey.

Let's make peace here.

(No.)

(I can't trust anyone's word anymore.)

Then

why did you save me?

you were lied to.

Although you grew up under Mother's care,

it's obvious

that you are still too naive.

Stop pretending!

Me?

The words on the memorial tablet

were written with lard dyed red.

Lard melts at a high temperature

so it created an illusion that the memorial tablet was bleeding.

Lu Yijing.

You actually thought of

such a stupid method

and caused a mess at the ancestral hall.

Now that you've turned the ancestral hall into this mess.

Can you shoulder the burden if the ancestors were to punish you?

Lu Yijing.

Father!

Darn you!

How dare you

touch the ancestors' memorial tablet!

Father, I was wrong.

I was wrong.

From now on,

you are no longer allowed in the ancestral hall.

Go back to your room

and copy the sutra 1,000 times

to apologize to the ancestors.

Madam Wang.

Father!

Mother!

I was wrong. I didn't do it on purpose!

Miss, let's go.

Chuning.

You started the incident.

Clean the memorial tablet

to show your filial piety.

Then, you'll return to the family.

Thank you, Father.

Siyan.

Your sister has returned.

You must work hard after this

to support the Lu family's business.

Father.

Since she has returned,

why don't you use this opportunity

to hand Lu Department Stores over to her?

Siyan.

I, Lu Siyan, will never inherit the family business.

Nonsense!

Mr. Lu,

Jing was too much.

It was all my fault for spoiling her

so she became rampant.

Thankfully, Chuning is wise.

She's like you indeed.

(That is exactly the reason why)

(she can't stay here.)

Mrs. Lu.

You gave birth to

Mr. Lu has always wanted a son.

Why did I give birth to a daughter?

Mrs. Lu,

the servant, Cui, gave birth to a boy.

Quick.

Show him to me.

(Lin Chuning is a time bomb.)

(One day,)

(her father might find out about how I abandoned her.)

(I mustn't let her destroy my perfect family.)

(I also won't let anyone steal my son away.)

(I had no choice but to impersonate a daughter of the Lu family.)

(Ancestors of the Lu family, please bless and save Rou from this.)

What did you hide?

Show it to me.

Focus on kneeling.

Why do you care about me?

What are you doing?

Lu Siyan!

Don't move.

Give it back.

(Bazi) Rou?

She was born on the same day as I.

Why must you place her bazi

under the memorial tablet of the Lu family's ancestors?

Give it to me.

Rou had no friends and family.

Why do you believe in this so much?

It's because

you've never been forced into a corner.

You don't know the point

of living on a prayer.

I don't know about the rest.

I only know

that you treat this so-called sibling of yours

better

than your own brother.

Are you jealous?

No.

It's rare to see you being so obedient.

I can live

a comfortable life

because it's all thanks

to my ancestors' blessing.

So, I must pay my respects to them.

Will you follow your parents' arrangements

because of this?

Of course, not.

I have to take my own path.

Nothing can stop me

when it comes to this.

You are right.

You are not the only one

who can inherit the family business.

I think

they also hope

you can get your wish.

Mochen,

If you broke off the engagement,

if it were me,

my father would never agree.

But if I lost my purity,

and it was with Mr. Gao,

then to save face,

my father would have to give me up.

So in the end,

you three abandoned me

all over again.

Chuning,

I would never abandon you.

I'm the only one who won't leave you.

You like eavesdropping that much?

Seems to me

I don't trust him.

I don't trust you either.

I don't think you really doubt me.

At first,

you planned to use the banquet as cover to rescue Xiaorou.

But after the drama with Shen Mochen and your uncle,

the banquet got canceled.

So you just went along with the change

and asked Shen Mochen for an engagement party.

Am I right?

Correct.

But that doesn't mean

I will marry you.

Before this,

you wanted to use my lowly status

to rebel against your parents.

You always knew

for the two of us.

Whether there's a future or not

If that's how it is,

I'd rather die in Wenrou Lounge!

Xiaorou!

Xiaorou...

I'd rather die...

than watch you and Lu Siyan get all lovey-dovey.

I got close to Lu Siyan to save you.

I entered the Lu Residence to save you.

But now

you're free.

So I can finally excuse myself.

I know you don't want to see me again.

I'll return your identity as soon as I can.

This is outrageous!

One second you're engaged to Shen Mochen,

the next you're breaking it off.

Do you think marriage is some kind of child's play?

Father.

To tell you the truth,

the only reason I got engaged to Shen Mochen

was because

someone in the residence

wanted me dead.

What did you say?

I only did it to protect myself.

I came up with that idea

because I wanted a quiet life.

Who would dare try to kill my daughter?

Well,

I have no idea.

But I'm not afraid anymore.

Because I've found someone

who'll protect me for life.

With him by my side,

no one

can hurt me.

Don't tell me you've pledged yourself to someone again.

Dear.

Our daughter's grown up.

It's normal for her to want companionship.

Let's stay out of it.

Mother.

Do you even hear yourself?

I was talking about

Siyan.

Father.

Siyan and I share a strong bond as siblings.

Having a brother like him

is better than a thousand suitors.

I'm pleased by the fact

that you're close.

But you'll both have your own families one day.

Be more mindful.

Don't stir up gossip.

Yes, Father.

Siyan knows his boundaries.

Just rest assured, dear.

Do you think this will work?

Mochen.

I thought long and hard,

and I still felt I had to tell you and Mother.

I saw Lin Chuning and my brother

being close and intimate.

After all,

you're about to get engaged to Lin Chuning.

You knew

that I'm going to get engaged to her.

Yet you tried to sabotage my plan by spreading the news.

You're the heiress of the Lu family,

yet you're so cheap.

Mochen...

So you're in on it with her?

That's right.

No...

Lin Chuning must've put you up to this, didn't she?

You just want to marry the Lu family heiress, no?

I'm the real Lu family heiress...

Listen here.

I'm marrying Lin Chuning

not because she's the Lu family heiress.

But you're different.

If you weren't the Lu family heiress,

I wouldn't even glance at you.

I don't believe it.

It must be...

It must be Lin Chuning who seduced you.

Mochen.

Look.

This was the first gift you gave me.

You said I was like this hairpin,

pure and flawless.

You said you'd cherish me.

You actually believed a man's sweet talk?

You're laughably dumb.

No!

Don't step on it!

Why?

Did you ever

love me?

Not at all.

I'd like to thank you on her behalf

for not telling your father

that she tried to kill you.

you must tell me.

I'll stand up for you.

I never dared to dream

that I'd one day have a family.

That I'd be loved by my parents.

You're my child.

I should

love you, no?

You should love me.

That's only right.

But Mother...

Why did you send someone to kill me?

That servant who tried to kill me said so.

But I don't believe him.

Someone must've bought him off

to sow discord between us.

That's what I thought too.

But thank you, Mother,

for giving me such a wonderful brother.

Siyan

is nothing but nice.

Chuning.

You shouldn't have come back.

You shouldn't have disrupted my peace.

You've already lived 20 more years than you were supposed to.

That's Heaven's gift to you.

So you should accept your fate.

Mrs. Lu.

You've fallen for Chuning's trap.

It's my birthmark.

I covered it with foundation powder

to impersonate Xiaorou.

(Could she be my daughter?)

Mother?

Mrs. Lu.

Mother!

I told you to stay away from her!

It's a mistake.

This whole thing is a mistake!

What is it now?

Just

how far have things gone between you two?

I'll be honest.

I'll marry no one

but her.

Absolutely not!

Unless I'm dead,

you will never

be together!

Mrs. Lu.

What do you want from us?

Everything turns in time, Lin Chuning.

What this world owes me

and what you owe me,

I'll take everything back.

Chuning,

your birthmark's so unique.

If you like,

I can draw one just like it for you.

You drew that on?

Mine has been there since I was born.

But my mother

didn't want me.

That's not true.

She gave you that mark on purpose.

So you can go back to her.

(Lu Residence)

Mother!

Mother!

Mother?

A lowborn wretch like you dares call me that?

I remember

she had a plum blossom-shaped birthmark

on her shoulder.

Do it!

Mother,

what is this?

Is this some kind of private punishment?

Siyan,

help me.

Xiaorou,

did you tamper with my car?

You wretched thing.

Siyan,

- she's not... - Mother,

I saw what happened at the hospital.

Do you really want me to say it?

All done.

Thank you, Siyan.

Mother, what's all this about?

It's just a bit of blood.

Still, it's a strain on the body.

Once we're home,

I'll prepare something nourishing for you.

Sure thing.

Take it.

Miss,

please hold on to this.

All right.

What?

Siyan,

why don't you go rest in your room?

Mother,

is there something I'm not allowed to hear?

Nothing.

It's just between the two of us.

Go on now.

All right then.

I'll leave you to it.

Everyone, leave us.

- Yes, Madam. - Yes, Madam.

So that's why the midwife took the secret to the grave.

It turns out to be such a secret.

Madam,

to secure your position as lady of the house,

you fooled everyone

and swapped the truth.

I'm not your daughter.

And Lu Siyan is not your son either.

You swapped the blood at the hospital

to keep Lu Siyan's identity a secret, didn't you?

Siyan is my son.

I raised him for twenty years.

He is my son.

Since you're so protective of your son,

you should treat me better too.

From now on, I am your daughter.

If the truth about me were to get out,

Lu Siyan's identity would be revealed as well.

Dead men tell no tales.

I'd like to see you try.

I already sent a letter to Mr. Lin in advance.

If I die,

he will send the letter to the press.

Within four hours,

the whole city will know.

So

you'd better act like it.

You'd better show the world we have a loving relationship.

Otherwise, if I go down, I'm taking you with me.

Chuning.

Do you like it?

I planted these roses myself.

It's for you.

Do you feel better after seeing it?

Of course.

Let's reconcile.

All right.

What is it?

Miss Lin,

Miss Xiaorou asked me to pass this to you.

(Chuning, meet me at the warehouse on the west outskirts.)

(Let's put an end to this.)

(Otherwise, you'll never see)

(your little friends from the Foundling Home again.)

What does she want?

Oh, nothing.

She just wished me a speedy recovery.

You finally came.

Did you come alone?

Where are the children?

Them?

I handed them over to Mr. Gao.

That slap

was for them.

And this one

is to settle the score between us.

Had enough?

Then it's my turn.

What are you all staring at?

Back off!

Did you think I'm stupid enough

to come here alone?

Did you really think I'd believe that?

She told me to meet her at the warehouse

on the west outskirts.

I'll go instead.

Don't go.

How about this?

You'll wait outside.

If I'm not out in ten minutes,

you can come and get me.

You only have five minutes.

Okay.

Of course, I know you're not stupid.

I've got people lying in wait too.

Chuning,

how did we end up like this?

I never wanted this.

I was trampled by many,

but why do you get to stand tall?

I just want you to fall with me.

Then we'll all be equal again.

In a while,

don't resist

or fight back.

It'll end soon.

Very quickly.

Stay back!

Go away!

Don't come closer

or I'll kill her!

Then kill me.

If I die, I'll take you down with me.

Don't worry about me. Get her!

Back off!

Let me go!

Come on.

Let me go!

No!

Let's have fun.

Stop!

Siyan.

Siyan!

Siyan.

I'm... I'm your sister.

You should count yourself lucky that you are.

If you weren't, I'd have killed you right here.

I already sent Si to get those girls.

Does it hurt?

I'm fine.

I never thought

she would go this far.

She's still alive only because she's my sister.

It's all right now.

You're not hurt, are you?

Of course not.

They're not my match.

I didn't know you had it in you, Siyan.

Then I should do something too

to make the Lu family accept me sooner.

I'll work hard to build our future together.

I don't care what you do.

Just promise me you won't get hurt again.

I'll protect you from now on.

With you by my side, how could I ever get hurt?

I'll marry you.

I'll wait for that day to come.

(Lu Residence)

I already told you two that you are not to be together!

Mother,

we're not asking for permission.

We're here to tell you

that we're already together.

Siyan,

do you want to drive me to my grave?

That's not what I want.

You don't get to decide my career

or who I'm with.

It's different this time.

There's a reason I can't speak of.

Mrs. Lu,

I've never once tried to steal Siyan from you.

You don't have to see me as a threat.

I'll love him

just like you do.

No! You can't love him.

Why not? Because...

Because...

Because you're siblings. By blood.

Mrs. Lu,

you'd rather lie about that just to stop me...

Chuning,

you are my daughter.

Mother,

how can you just make up a lie like that to split us up?

You already made one mistake.

Xiaorou is my sister.

Yes,

Xiaorou.

You can ask Xiaorou.

because she faked Chuning's birthmark.

Chuning,

It's not too late to walk away from this.

Don't make one mistake after another.

Chuning, tell me it's not true.

It could be wrong again this time. Am I right?

You can't be my sister.

You painted it, right?

Say something!

You're not my sister.

You're not my sister, right?

Tell me you're not my sister!

You're not her.

Siyan.

But now, maybe I do.

All this time,

Then why did I have to lose you?

This isn't what I wanted.

Don't call me that.

Lin Chuning is your real sister.

Siyan,

Not in this lifetime.

Shut up.

Just shut up!

Siyan,

I'll do anything for you.

Just stay with me.

Siyan.

Help! Miss Chuning is dead!

You should have just let me have Lu Siyan.

So you always knew

Si Yan and I

are related by blood?

Yeah.

I want to see both of you suffer,

crushed by despair,

and live a fate worse than death.

Xiaorou,

how did you become like this?

You're asking me why?

Lin Chuning,

you knew I had feelings for Lu Siyan.

But you still went after him.

Gao Yunfeng couldn't have you,

so he came after me and violated me.

While I was drowning in misery at Wenrou Lounge,

what were you doing?

You were whispering sweet nothings to Lu Siyan.

So, don't I have every right to hate you?

Your tragedy

was never my doing.

We were both victims. You know that.

I was punishing the one who started all this.
