I'm Benjamin Ayres, and I am so excited to be here

in the heart of Kansas City,

the place where the iconic Hallmark Card Company

began over a century ago.

You know, the Hallmark Christmas Experience

is an annual festival

that's open to everyone during the Christmas season.

Our Hallmark holiday home is an enchanting place.

We have thousands of lights, we have families skating,

friends taking photos, people writing wishes for the season.

Holiday fun and games with my friends,

your favorite Hallmark stars.

I have a gift for you two right now.

Plus, special holiday musical performances by

It is a jam-packed celebration

That was my favorite moment.

Everyone was here, it was so packed,

but everyone was happy, and it's just been an amazing experience.

I would describe Hallmark as family.

Is this your first time at the Hallmark Experience?

We actually went here last year.

-Oh, you're pros! -[Jill] Yes, we are.

We had so much fun last year

that we had to come back this year.

Even my husband, who's a man, had a good time.

I enjoyed it very much.

Coming to this makes you feel part of the family.

And the relationship between actors and fans,

it's cool.

This is the perfect way to start the Christmas holiday.

-Am I right? -[Jill] Yes, yes.

Anything Hallmark is just wonderful.

[Taylor] Oh, we need one for you.

[Benjamin] Well, I would love one, please.

We did a movie together, Taylor and I,

and we spent most of the movie just making sure

each of us didn't have whipped cream on our face

or anything.

I didn't get your name. I'm Ben.

I'm curious to know,

all these incredible stores here,

is there any type of, like, things you love to see

or things you've been buying?

We always had to get an ornament.

We got another ornament this year.

Is that a big thing for you, ornaments?

-It is. -Always, always, always.

It's just that brings that special moment back.

Hallmark always holds a special place in our hearts

with our community.

And all of the movies, they're just so heartwarming.

No matter what you're going through in your life, um...

you know there's hope at the end of the Hallmark movies.

And it just, it touches you all the time.

It brings all the warm and fuzzies.

-[Jill] It does. -Just like hot cocoa.

And even to go beyond community

is the actual connection like this.

And I think that's what's so beautiful

about these experiences.

It actually brings us together

and we bond over the movies that we love.

to be part of our holiday story.

I mean, some visitors literally traveled thousands of miles

because there's just something so special about

the way Hallmark taps into the Christmas spirit.

And we are so excited to have Tyler and BJ

meeting some of those folks right now.

So let's find out who traveled the farthest to experience

the magic of Christmas with us, shall we?

[country rock music] [indistinct chatter]

[cheers and applause]

[Jess] I traveled so far to get here,

and this is so important to me

because this is what I dreamt for for a long time.

And finally seeing it come true, it's beyond my wildest dreams.

[BJ] Who traveled by car 16 hours or more?

By car?

17 hours or more?

[Tyler] This is The Price is Right !

[BJ] 18 hours or more?

-Oh, wait, we got it! -Where did you come from?

[Angela] Orlando.

-[BJ] Orlando? -[BJ & Tyler] Come on down.

We drove 18 and a half hours. I'm just like, pick me!

You know, I drove the farthest. We drove the farthest.

-I drove the furthest. -Yeah, just kidding.

He drove the farthest. But I rode.

It's all because she doesn't fly.

I don't love to fly.

So why not make a road trip of it?

We are celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary,

which is very exciting.

I'm a retired military.

-I have 22 years. -Thank you for your service.

My wife and my son would send them to me.

It would just hit the right spot at the right time.

Oh, that's so nice!

It just excites me to know that there's people all around

the world that you are able to meet that love our military.

What is a holiday tradition that you look forward to?

Every Christmas Eve,

my dad reads us The Night Before Christmas.

Aww! Even now as adults?

-Ladies, how are you? -[Both] Hi!

-[Rhiannon] Merry Christmas! -What's up?

[Robert] That's what we do.

It's all about holidays.

What are we in the market for today?

[Karlyn] Ornaments. It's a family tradition.

My grandpa started me on ornaments.

I carry down the family tradition with my children

and my granddaughters.

So he had a stationary store

and he had the Hallmark ornaments in there.

And as a little tyke,

I used to go in and play with each one of them.

And so every year,

we got a new one for Christmas.

That sounds like the start of a Hallmark movie.

Yeah. I'm game!

-[laughs] -[Rhiannon] Aww!

What are you guys' favorite ornaments?

-Well. -[Karlyn] Well.

Rob was actually just telling us that he has a Christmas pickle.

[Robert] Are you familiar with the Christmas pickle?

-Yes. -Yes!

-I've never heard of it! -He had an octopus.

[laughter]

So you guys played, like, hide the octopus?

-Yes. -[Rhiannon] That's amazing!

I wonder how many variants there are.

If it goes all the way from pickle to octopus,

it's quite a range.

Should we get a picture of the four of us?

And maybe that goes in an ornament?

-Oh, that would be cool. -That's a great idea.

-I think so. -Okay.

-Yeah. -Say "Christmas squid".

[Others] Christmas squid!

-Awesome, guys. -[laughter]

So you sound very excited about the keepsake ornaments.

I am.

[Jessy] Do you have a personal connection?

I do. So I've been at Hallmark for almost 30 years.

-I'm a designer in keepsake. -Oh, wow.

And so I get to make these things for everyone.

And it's the best job in the world.

[Jessy] My mom is an artist.

And the first job she was ever offered out of college was

to come work here at Hallmark as an artist for the cards.

That's amazing.

My mom is actually here this year.

So getting to bring her to the Crown Center and getting

to meet someone like you,

who's an artist and a designer and has literally

created all of these memories,

-that's what's filling us. -That's really neat to hear.

I like to think every ornament has a story.

-Yes. -I remember years ago

I got an ornament for my first wedding anniversary.

And then, like, 10 years later, I ended up working with

the artist that created that ornament.

-Oh, wow! -So it means even more to me.

It's genuinely as personal as it can be.

What's the secret to creating an ornament

or a keepsake

that makes people feel so special inside?

I personally love the ornaments where you can put

the photo in cause it makes it so personal.

Yeah.

You know, like you pick that one picture,

that one picture that captured the whole season for you.

And you put it in there

and then you, either just to remember the holiday.

I still have a Hallmark ornament

from one of my sons' first day of kindergarten.

It has a little school bus, his picture in there.

It's my first one I hang up every year.

I feel like we need one with golden macaroni or something.

Yes, yes! Well, we even made, like,

some fun ornaments that look like carryout food.

Oh!

And because you might remember, like, getting together

with your sister and getting some carryout

and watching movies together.

And it's like something you share.

So it's that shared memory.

a new holiday tradition take place", and go.

I think mine would be the one where Elizabeth tells

And mine was the wedding episode

when Elizabeth marries Jack for the first time.

how many times do they get married?

Right now, she only gets married once.

-But we're waiting. -We're Team Nathan,

so we're waiting for that second wedding.

[Benjamin] Okay, all right. That's exciting.

And then that episode will elevate to our favorite, right?

I must say, I find that sometimes I can be

a little cold when I'm, like, sitting and watching a show.

And sometimes, I would love to just be cozier.
