Mute buddy...

Hey, Mute...

Jinhuo, what are you doing?

Let him go. Jinhuo, let him go

Let him go. You will kill him

I'm just making fun of him

You're always making fun of him

Where are you going?

Just strolling around

Please don't. Others will gossip about us

Let them gossip then. Put it down

Put it down

Young Master, Mute is coming this way

Mute, where are you going?

Come back as soon as possible

Hey !

Let's go home

Let's go

Master is back

Madam, master is back

You're back? I thought you'd be home tomorrow

Master

Where is Jinhuo? He is out again?

He's home. You must be tired. Take a rest first

Go tell junior that master is home

Yes

Young master...

Young master...

What are you doing?

Young master, lord is home

You promise me you'll come back tonight

I must be home at night

Why don't you stay with me?

Do not go home tonight

Your husband is away from home anyway.

How about I come to your place tonight?

If you turn me down...

I will fire you

You can't make a living

Promise?

Why are you here?

Of course I'm here. It's my home

Your home? I bet you lost all your money

Is it not?

I'm just out of luck, losing every game

Got anything to eat?

I'm starved to death

Serves you right

Where do I get money to buy food?

I haven't had anything today

You want to watch me starve to death?

I may leave home...

for maybe half a year...

to do some business

Have some noodles

Any leftovers?

Don't eat if you can't swallow it

Did you hear what I just said?

Yes, you said you'll leave home to do business

Ah Man, come here. Sit down

Do you have any money?

No

Can you borrow some?

From whom?

Your master

Again?

How am I going to repay it?

Can't you have some trust on me?

I'll make...

a lot of money this time

I'm leaving tomorrow morning

I can't be penniless

Please, this is the last time. I promise

You are good for nothing

Are you picking me up?

My husband is home

What's he doing home today?

Come with me

Come

Can... can you lend me some money?

Come here

Is it decent enough...

to be gifted to the bride-to-be?

Our in-laws are not well off

Xiuzhi is a pretty girl

She's a good girl too

I'm afraid our son is not worthy of her

What is Jinhuo capable of?

He does nothing, but squanders all day

He has never done a proper thing

That's it. In your eyes,

the mute you took in is always better...

than your own son

What have we done to deserve a son like this !

Take it

This is the last time

Master won't lend you any money again

You mustn't lose it on gambling tables

I'll leave for work now

What's the big deal? So I'm getting married

What's wrong with you, Mute?

Your young master is getting married

right?

Good

Who's the bride-to-be?

Your young master is getting married

When will you get married then?

Hey, don't run

Don't run...

Mute...

What are you doing?

Thank you...

The bride and the groom propose a toast

Drink more...

Have a little more...

Mute, I am off now

Take your clothes off. It's bedtime

What are you doing?

You can't blow out the wedding candles

Take them off

You're my wife. Why're you hiding from me?

Take them off

Don't stop, take them off...

Let me take them off for you then

Who do you think you are?

You think I won't find some one else?

You think I won't have other places to go?

Damn it

Who is it?

It's me

Young master, why are you here?

Why can't I be here?

It's your wedding night

What wedding night? I'm so mad

Is it your bride?

Maybe she is frightened !

She refused to take off her clothes

She is not my wife

So then, you came looking for me?

Good morning, mom

Good morning

You should sleep in

It's still early in the morning

You don't have to prepare breakfast

It's Ah Man's job

Where's Jinhuo?

He's still sleeping

He usually wakes up late

He's bad-tempered

Xiuzhi, if he treats you badly

just let me know. I will scold him

Good morning, madam

You are late

Young madam has prepared breakfast for you

Of late you haven't been doing your job well

Good morning, young madam

Morning

Did you see that

Jinhuo's bride is very pretty

Indeed, even for a woman like me...

finds her attractive

Be careful, your husband may get jealous

Nonsense

I heard that Jinhuo dislikes her

They had a quarrel on their wedding night

Very often a beautiful girl has an unfortunate life

Being ill-treated since the first day

She is out of luck to be his wife

Mute... Come here...

Come on

Mute... Come here...

So...

What do you think about the bride?

Is she nice? Tell us

She is pretty

and nice

Ah Man, you are late

Mute said your young master...

has treated his wife badly

Right

Ah Man, is it true?

Is it true?

Is it true?

Look, here comes the bully

Where is he?

He does nothing but bums around everyday

How do you know he does nothing?

Jinhuo

Father

Where have you been?

Just taking a walk

It's the third day since you got married

Xiuzhi has dressed up

and waits for you to visit her parents with her

Why didn't you come home earlier?

It's still early

It's almost noon. Get changed now

Father, I don't want to go

She can visit her parents herself

How can you let your wife go home alone...

on the third day of your marriage?

Why not? She knows the way

Bloody fool

Ask Mute to accompany you

Just what did he do in his previous life?

You visit your parents yourself. I'm busy

Mute will accompany you home

What should I tell my parents then?

Whatever. I'll meet you here at noon...

3 days later and we'll go home together

Let me go

Mute

Put me down

It's not right. Put me down

Mute, put me down

Father

Father

How come you're home so early today?

Miss me, huh?

Your wife is back

What? She's back

I told her to meet me 3 days later

It's only the second day

Where is Mute?

He's back too

Damn mute

It is for you

Bloody fool

Mute, why did you come home today?

You did this to me deliberately

I will get back to you

Jinhuo

Father

Stop there

Come over

Come up

How could you let Xiuzhi go home alone?

Where were you the last two days?

What do you plan to do?

Xiuzhi is a nice girl

How could you do this to her?

Damn right, She is nice. I hate her for that

Such a jerk

This is outrageous

Listen to yourself. How could you say that?

You think you've grown up and I won't beat you

Mom...

He's a grown-up now

You can't just beat him like that

Go away

He has learnt his lesson

I'd rather have a dog as my son

You are home

Damn you. What are you doing here?

I told you to meet me 3 days later

You did this on purpose

It... it's not true

You are not my wife. Get out of my house

Mute

Mute, I know...

you want to cheer me up

Stop it. I already feel better

Stop it, Mute

Mute, stop it

Mute, stop it

Stop it, Mute

Mute

Mute...

Ah Man, have you seen Mute?

The pigsty needs repair

I haven't seen him the whole afternoon

Go look for him

Ah Man, it's meal-time...

Tell him to repair the pigsty after the meal

Mute...

The meal is ready. Do I have to invite you?

Damn mute

Don't know what's wrong with him...

lying curled on the bed and moaning

Ah Man, lay the table

Ah Man, he may be hurt

You help him...

to tie up the loose pigsty

with steel wires first

Tell Mute to mend it when he feels better

What are you looking at, Mute?

Why doesn't he like Xiuzhi?

Xiuzhi is pretty and good-natured too

What does he dislike?

Who knows?

He is a grown man, I can't force him now

His father blames me

for his improper behavior

I want my son to behave himself too

Jinhuo

Jinhuo, your uncle and aunt are here to visit us

Come and greet them

Uncle, Auntie

Just got up?

What time is it now?

I have nothing to do anyway

Where is your wife?

I don't know

Make yourself at home. I won't be long

Your uncle wants a word with you

I heard that you don't like Xiuzhi

Yes, I just don't like her

Has she done anything wrong?

Uncle, please don't ask me

She is just disagreeable to my eyes

Please don't meddle in this

How can you talk to your elders like this?

I must teach you a lesson today

He's still young. Forgive him this time

Don't beat him...

Jinhuo, apologize to your uncle

Jinhuo, apologize to your uncle, come on

Uncle, I was wrong

Don't be mad. Please sit down

This is just outrageous

It's all your fault

Damn

Are you blind?

Mute, tell Ah Man to come out here

What are you doing here?

You didn't expect me to come back early?

Didn't you say you'd be away for half a year?

Are you not happy to see me?

I guess you've made a lot of money then?

I am still out of luck

You lost everything again?

I've come back to request...

if you'll leave this place with me

Maybe my luck will take a turn for the better

I don't want to leave

Why?

I've suffered enough hardships

This is my home. I won't leave with you

You can leave yourself

What are you saying?

Nothing

What's so great about this place...

that you don't want to go with me?

I just want to lead a more stable life

Stop there

If I hear anything about you fooling around

I won't let you off

What have I done?

Where did you get this?

I bought it

Damn it

You bought it? You better behave yourself

Where is Ah Man?

You just can't find her when you need her

I told her to do the laundry

You cut your finger

Here

Stay here. I'll get some medicine for him

Do you understand?

Mute cut his finger. I get some medicine

Big deal

It's beautiful

Tomorrow, you cut another finger

Let young madam bandage it for you

What are you doing? I haven't finished yet

Your kitten is more important than me?

What are you doing?

You can't take my jewels

Can you stop me?

You...

I beg you

My mother left these jewels to me

You can't take it

Everything in my home belongs to me

I may use force if you stop me

What have I done to offend you?

Why do you scold me...

and beat me all the time?

Now, you even take my jewels

I would rather you beat me to death...

than leading a life like this

If you want to die, go elsewhere

Damn it

Dying?

Grab the first aid kit

I'm coming... slow down

Damn mute

Put me down

Put me down...

Put me down

Dying?

I ran all these miles

and bumped my head for this bird

I am so angry

Mute, what are you doing?

Get out...

Get out, please

What are you doing? Get out

Get out...

What are you doing?

Mute, come... Let's play a game

What are you doing?

What? What do you want to say?

Mute, what are you doing?

I can't run anymore. What are you doing?

I will kill you

Mom, Jinhuo is hurt

What happened?

What happened? Why are you hurt so badly?

Mom

Hurry... Bring him to his room

Lie down

Mute, ask the doctor to come immediately

Ask the doctor to come. Hurry

Hurry

I don't have time to play with you

I don't care if someone is dying

I am busy

Damn mute

My first aid kit

Damn mute, I'm too tired to run

Give me my first aid kit

Bloody Mute

Give me my first aid kit

Doctor, you've arrived

Hurry. Come in

There is really a patient

Of course. Come in, quick.

Hold it...

Hurry

Mute, who beat...

your young master?

Ah Man's husband. Why?

Young master and Ah Man?

It's Ah Man?

You mustn't

tell anyone about this

or I will break your leg

understand?

Mute, you must tell the truth

Did you tell him that...

his wife was fooling around with someone?

Mute

Tell the official

Didn't you?

You must tell the truth

Come on. Say something

Don't be afraid. Tell the truth

Yeah, tell the official

Tell me, did you see that...

his wife and Lai Jinhuo committed adultery?

You just nod or shake your head

Right, don't be afraid...

It's okay to tell him

Let him talk. Did you personally see that...

his wife and Lai Jinhuo committed adultery?

Mute, don't lie about this

Official... I was framed

Please don't listen to the mute

He's lying, official...

Mute is lying

Shut up. Cai Shizao is sent to prison...

for 2 months for assaulting Lai Jinhuo

Official, I was framed

Come on

The others are allowed to go

Ah Man

you are fired

Master

Father

Shut up. How dare you speak for her?

After all, we are family

You helped me. Let me treat you to some wine

Mute, you can't lie about this

Official... I was framed...

Buddy, you can't lie about this

This is my father, my stepfather

My real father died years ago

This is my mother. She loves me dearly

This is me. I am a mute

I can't speak. My stepfather dislikes me

We did this to earn our living

We didn't make much money. Life was difficult

We roamed around and didn't have a home

He walked slow enough

Mute, hurry up

Hurry up, or he will beat you again

We slept in the open air

My stepfather disliked me because I am a mute

He wanted to dump me

He didn't want to raise me

But my mother didn't want to give me up

One morning when I woke up...

Kid...

Mute...

I'm going into town. Carry my baggage

and walk me to the bus stop

I want to have a word with you

Don't be afraid. I will be back soon

Master, eat something before you go

I don't want to be late for the bus

I will be away for about a month this time

You must watch yourself

and don't meddle with other people's business

Mute

Mute, aren't you hungry?

Young madam

You didn't tell Mute to eat?

Mute has not had anything...

these two days

He took a look and left. Maybe he's sick

Mute

I made you a shirt and trousers

I just want to thank you...

for helping my husband out

Mom

What's wrong with Mute. Is he sick?

No, he's fine

Xiuzhi, Mute is disabled

but he's a man after all

Better stay away from his room

Yes

Quite nice

Mute, you put on new clothes

Are you going to get married?

Are you going to throw a wedding banquet?

Mute, who made the clothes for you?

Who made the clothes for you?

The bride

Your young madam is nice to you

The needlework is good

Turn around

Very good

Have you had your dinner?

What's wrong with you? What are you doing?

Mom, it's none of your business

Stop

What is the matter?

I will get back to you

My wife made you this, didn't she?

Jinhuo... what are you doing?

Mom, it's none of your business

Jinhuo

Why did you make him the clothes?

Are you in love with him?

You are shameless

You fool around in front of my eyes

Young madam

Jinhuo...

Mom, it's none of your business

Stop. Don't beat him

How dare you fool around with my wife?

Jinhuo, stop...

Don't beat him

Go away

You've taken his side against me

I must beat you to death

Jinhuo... Stop

Jinhuo

Jinhuo, what are you doing? Jinhuo

You have already vented your anger

I must beat him to death

Mom, it's none of your business

Have you slept with my wife?

Young madam

Xiuzhi

Speak up, or I will keep beating you

Wake up. See what this is?

Wake up. Damn you

You want it back? Okay

Crying... Let me beat you to death

Xiuzhi, you better go back to your parents

I can't let you stay with us

Mom, do you really believe this accusation?

Say no more

Ah Zhen will walk you home tomorrow

This home will gain peace again

Mom, I won't go home

You must go

I did nothing wrong. I won't go home

You kneel here and you'll starve for the day

Madam and Jinhuo have ill-treated me...

since I was a child

No one dared to help me out

I'd kneel till midnight and suffer from hunger

I am a mute

I can't tell other people my grievances

No one feels for me

except the master who adopted me

the bride and the new maid, Ah Zhen

They are nice to me

Mute, what is on your mind?

Mute, what is on your mind?

Here's something for you to eat

Come on, have some

Young master will beat you if he sees this

She keeps crying. I'm afraid she is sick

Hurry

Madam...

Madam...

I see it myself this time

You can't deny it now

Damn you. I will kill you

What is it?

I must kill you this time

Madam, young madam hangs herself

Damn you, Mute, stop there

Let me see where you can escape to !

Damn you, Mute

Mute, don't take it seriously

I was just having fun with you

I was wrong. Please forgive me

Mute...

Mute, your master and I...

have only one child

Please let him off...

for his father's sake

Mute

Mute

Mute, I treat you as one of my sons

Please let my son go

Jinhuo

Mom, it's none of your business

Damn you, Mute, get out of my house

Be careful, he may go crazy again

He can't stay here

Young madam, take a rest now

Ah Zhen, go to sleep now

I want to sleep for a while

I'll stay with you tonight

Don't worry, Ah Zhen

I won't attempt suicide again...

and will go back to my parents tomorrow...

to my own home

It's on fire. Put it out!

It's on fire...

My house is on fire and my son is inside

Too dangerous !

Young madam is in her room

Mute has leapt into the fire

Mute...

Young madam...

Mute, I beg you...

to rescue my son. I beg of you

Mute, don't go in there

Mute, it's too dangerous

Mute

Help...

Mute
