[The Unclouded Soul]

[Episode 17]

But you must tell me everything

that happened here in detail—

Tell us.

D...

Don't hide anything.

I don't dare hide anything.

Let's go.

They said

if I brought you here,

they would play shuttlecock with me.

I...

just wanted someone to play shuttlecock with me.

You really like playing shuttlecock this much?

Yes.

To be honest with you,

before now,

we've never actually seen the Taotie with our own eyes.

It's just that after people went into the mountains,

they never came back out.

And when we found the bodies,

they were all missing arms or legs.

So,

we just said it was the Taotie's doing.

You know, it's strange.

In recent years,

the Taotie has been appearing frequently

and often comes into the village.

Then how do you determine

that it's the Taotie who's hurting people?

Everyone knows there's a Taotie

on Mount Qiansui.

Besides the Taotie,

what else could it be?

The Taotie has returned!

Zixiu, you go home.

Go, go, go.

Go, go, go.

Hurry!

Catch the demon!

Catch the demon!

After it!

Where is it?

Over there!

Don't let it escape!

-Here! -It's here!

Catch the demon!

Chase it!

Over there!

Don't let it get away!

Hurry up!

Where's the demon?

Quick!

Catch the demon!

It's here!

Catch the demon!

Demon, you can't escape!

Stop!

I'm going to kill it

to avenge Ya.

Before we clarify everything,

don't harm the innocent.

Who else could it be?

We already captured it.

Why not kill it?

It has taken human lives,

yet you protect it.

What are your intentions?

We agreed on it already.

We have no more silver to give to the officials.

Move aside!

Since it's already subdued,

why not get to the bottom of this first?

Kill it! Kill it!

It's a demon!

Kill it!

Kill it!

Kill it! Kill it!

Kill it! Kill it!

Get out of the way!

Yes, kill it!

Kill it.

Kill it!

Kill it.

Kill it!

Kill it!

Silence!

Lock it up first.

We'll decide after the investigation.

Leader,

what do you think?

We will

follow your orders, My Lord.

I know

you don't want to hurt anyone.

If you really wanted to fight,

neither we nor the villagers

could stop you.

Don't be afraid.

I need to remove

this arrow

and apply medicine, okay?

That way, your wound can heal.

It might hurt a bit.

Try to bear it.

What's wrong?

It's nothing.

Get out.

Get out!

It's fine.

I need to remove your outer robe now

to apply the medicine.

Okay, okay.

I won't remove it.

I'll just apply it like this.

This is healing salve.

Why does it look somewhat familiar

yet different?

That's Little Leaf,

a spirit herb.

Don't talk nonsense.

I'm no spirit herb.

I'm a super powerful great demon!

You understand human speech.

Let me ask you,

are you responsible for the villagers' deaths?

Then let me ask you in a different way.

You've been coming to the village repeatedly.

Are you looking for something?

Li.

I'd like to borrow something from you.

What do you want?

Here,

take a look at this.

Do you recognize it?

Li says this belonged to his wife.

It's the one!

That's it!

Look at those eyes!

I've seen those eyes before.

They're exactly like the ones in the forest.

Coming!

Keep it down.

This Taotie hasn't hurt anyone in my family,

nor damaged my house or fields.

Why are you causing trouble with Li?

Help!

Help me!

Leader, help us!

The dead has really come back to life?

Fire! Hurry to put it out!

Go quickly!

Li, come on!

Hurry!

This way!

There's a fire! Quick!

Has another demon entered the village?

It has nothing to do with me.

Give me your blade.

No way.

What if the Taotie escapes?

I'll stay here and watch.

It's still chained up.

Don't worry, it can't escape.

Help! Help!

Help me!

Help!

Take care of yourself.

Help me!

I don't want to die!

Help!

As if I need you to tell me that.

Taking care of people is what I do best.

Help me!

Get up.

Help me!

Help me!

Help me!

Help! Help me!

Help me!

Save me! Help me quickly!

Save me quickly! Help me!

Get up now.

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

How many corpses are there in total?

How would I know?

It seems like all the bodies

from the graveyard have appeared.

Help me!

Help me!

Help me!

Help me!

Help me!

Help me!

Help!

Help!

Xiao Yao,

save me!

Help!

Save me!

Alright, alright.

I'll go check.

Xiao Yao, save me!

Save me!

Behind you!

Thank you.

Move aside!

We caught it but weren't allowed to kill it.

Now it's escaped again.

Bunch of useless fools.

Watch your mouth.

It has never harmed anyone

and it just saved us now.

Saved you?

This demon

can break free from chains

and tear those corpses apart.

You say it won't harm people?

Use your brain.

No matter how strong it is,

it only used that strength to save people.

If it had used that power against you,

do you think you'd still be alive?

I'm done arguing with you.

Who's coming with me to catch the Taotie?

Li, Xiao Yao has a point.

After tonight's ordeal,

if you go back into the mountains to hunt the demon,

you'll likely not return.

Leader,

my talismans failed to stop the demon.

I am responsible.

I'll go with him.

My Lord, you cannot go.

My Lord,

tonight's situation

is something we've never seen before.

If the demon comes back

we certainly won't be able to resist.

Please, My Lord,

stay with us

to guard this village

and protect the women, children, and elderly.

My Lord.

I'll go check.

Xiao Yao.

Don't worry.

That demon doesn't seem evil to me.

It actually seems quite humane.

If Li encounters it,

someone will surely get hurt.

We can't let that happen.

Those zombies just now had no demonic power.

Their minds were confused too.

They must have been cursed by someone to harm people.

I will set up

a formation around the village.

If demons attack again,

we'll be warned immediately.

Well, My Lord,

how can we help?

Tell the villagers to go home and rest.

I can handle this alone.

Then...

Thank you, My Lord.

Thank you, My Lord.

Let's go.

What's this?

How come I suddenly can't see clearly?

Why is there so much fog?

What's happening?

Greetings, My Lord.

Weren't you at the celestial mountain?

Those official ladies...

My Lord,

we received reports from the government

that the Mount Qiansui area

has been troubled by demons for a long time.

That's why we rushed here without rest.

I came for the same reason.

Since that's the case,

I'll trouble all of you

to help me protect the people here.

As you command.

-As you command! -As you command!

Thank you for your help,

Commander Ji.

Don't step on the formation!

Alright.

Kneel down!

Come, sir.

Get up quickly.

Commander Ji,

you're quite imperious.

I wouldn't dare.

Put away your blades!

This village is already impoverished.

None of you

are to disturb the villagers.

Yes.

Rise up now.

-Get up. -My Lord,

we work for the court

and receive court salaries.

Why bother associating with these peasants?

If you want to play the humble official,

you can do that back in the capital.

In this barren place,

who are you performing for?

Commander Ji,

without the common people,

there would be no court.

Without the people's taxes,

where would our salaries come from?

You're absolutely right, My Lord.

Feiyu Guards, attention!

-Yes! -Yes!

Split into four teams

and set up defensive formations around the village.

Take over patrol duties from the villagers.

If any great demon appears,

protect the villagers

with all your might.

-Yes! -Yes!

Let's go.

Go.

My Lord,

there's something I don't understand.

Speak.

Your demon-slaying blade

that never left your side before, even while sleeping...

where is it now?

My Lord, since your return from the celestial mountain,

did the immortals provide any guidance

about the location of the Yuli Spring?

You must have found the Yuli Spring water

and only need to present it to the emperor in the capital.

I offer my congratulations in advance.

If you receive promotions and titles,

please look out for me.

Thank you in advance.

I haven't found the Yuli Spring.

But there's an extraordinarily powerful great demon nearby.

If we can eliminate it,

you can have all the credit.

You probably know better than me

what the emperor wants.

I'm overstepping,

but I just want to remind you of something.

If you return to the capital alone

without the Yuli Spring water

to gain the emperor's protection,

those officials' daughters that you took away...

The powerful families in the capital

won't let you off easily.

It's not your place

to lecture me.

I'm only concerned

for your welfare.

Water.

Water.

Li.

Li?

Demon King.

Mr. Ji, you're fashionably late.

And you arranged to meet me

in such a remote and strange place.

Why so cautious?

You jest, My Lord.

Your power is extraordinary.

I am just a mere human.

I need to rely on you.

Mr. Ji, since you are so cautious,

if someone ruins our plans,

what shall we do?

My Lord, please don't blame me.

Bingzhu's arrival

was unexpected to me as well.

He only said he heard about a great demon

and came to capture it.

But

his demon-slaying blade is missing.

Something serious must have happened.

Did he find the Yuli Spring?

I'm certain

he didn't find it.

With his sudden arrival,

should we continue

our plan?

Of course not.

His appearance

is unexpected, but...

it is heaven-sent.

What do you mean?

This is the Yuli Spring

that Master Bingzhu obtained at the cost of his life.

I will do my utmost

to present it to His Majesty.

Didn't you say he didn't find Yuli Spring?

Lord Heiwu,

everyone has heard of the Yuli Spring water,

but no one has ever seen it.

In other words,

as long as drinking it doesn't kill you,

it can all be called the Yuli Spring.

This is what Master Bingzhu received

in exchanged for his life.

Then, Mr. Ji, what do you want?

What I want

is only to wholeheartedly serve you, Demon King.

You need not worry about the Feiyu Guard slaughtering demons again.

You only need to provide us with some

minor demons that haven't gone through the test yet.

Demon Slayer, you're quite calculating.

I fear one day

you'll scheme against me too.

I wouldn't dare.

We are all your soldiers.

The Feiyu Guard will

serve the Demon King with all our might.

Who is it?

Immortal!

An immortal has come!

Why did you come down from Mount Qiansui?

No need for such formality.

Immortal!

I heard about the village's suffering

and that many people have fallen ill.

I've brought the Yuli Spring down the mountain

to help relieve your suffering.

Thank you, Immortal.

You are so merciful!

Quickly show the way.

Immortal,

this way please.

To the village, please.

This way, please.

You really are Ya.

No!

Li,

she is your wife, Ya.

If you keep talking nonsense,

I'll cut you down too.

What I'm saying is all true.

She wasn't eaten by demons.

She probably became like this

because she was poisoned.

Look,

what is this?

Impossible.

Tell me.

Did you kill Ya

and steal the jade pendant?

Tell me, did you kill her?

Speak!

Li!

You...

You can't keep running away from this anymore.

She is Ya.

Impossible!

Impossible!

Ya was the most beautiful

and kind-hearted woman in the world.

She's still kind. That hasn't changed.

Look at the herbs on your arm.

Think about it.

Why does she always go to the village,

yet never hurts anyone?

Why are you the one

who sees her first whenever she visits the village?

Why is it that every time you chase and hurt her,

she never harms you in return,

and only runs away?

It's all my fault.

My Lord,

we've been patrolling all village entrances

but found no trace of any demons.

There's a demon!

A demon is coming!

Demon!

-Run! -Run!

Zixiu.

What's wrong?

I saw a demon.

What did this demon look like?

He wore a big black robe,

had a pale face,

and was not very tall.

The person talking to him

just now...

Zixiu.

Don't point like that.

The Taotie has returned!

The Taotie is back!

Feiyu Guards,

Eight Sun Formation!

Stop!

She's not a demon.

She's Ya.

Ya?

I...

It's all my fault.

All my fault.

I should have realized sooner.

Every day,

you snuck into the village at night

just to see me.

When I stabbed you,

there were tears in your eyes.

Every time I returned from hunting in the mountains,

empty-handed,

there would always be prey

appearing on my path home.

I'm so stupid.

I didn't hear what you were trying to tell me.

Ya,

do you hate me?

You did so much and waited so long,

yet I didn't recognize you.

I'm so stupid. I deserve to die.

I've caused you so much suffering.

I miss you.

Xiao Yao,

why are you crying?

Ya can never return to her original form.

What are you thinking of doing?

I'm telling you,

don't even think about it.

The real Taotie hasn't been found yet.

I still need my strength to protect your life.

You have a way to turn her back to her original form?

I'm telling you,

I won't agree to it no matter what.

Little Leaf,

please.

I know I'm dumb.

I didn't study techniques properly.

My power is too weak.

Now, I want to save someone

but have no way to do it.

Don't cry anymore.

Alright, alright.

I'll do it. I'll do it, alright?

But I must tell you,

my technique

can only turn her back for one hour.

After using the technique,

I'll turn into a straw bracele.t

If you face danger again,

-you can only rely on yourself. -Okay. Change quickly.

Thank you.

Immortal, please bless us.

Immortal, please bless us.

Bring us fortune and ward off disaster!

Immortal, please bless us.

Bring us fortune and ward off disaster!

Do not panic, everyone.

I have come here

to relieve your suffering.

Drink the Yuli Spring water from my bottle.

You will surely

be cured of all illnesses

and gain immortality.

-Thank you, Immortal. -Thank you, Immortal.

Ya!

Zixiu?

You're finally back!

Where are the other villagers?

A demon entered the village

and gathered everyone.

Follow me.

Don't drink it!

Don't drink!

Don't!

This...

He's not an Immortal.

He's a demon!

Demon?

I became a demon after drinking his water!

You'll turn into a demon if you drink it.

What's going on?

Demon,

die!

Without the demon-slaying blade,

you think you can kill me?

The Feiyu Guard's reputation extends far and wide,

and it's not just because of this blade.

Form the formation!

What's happening?

My Lord, I'm sorry,

but following you leads nowhere.

Everyone here today

must die.

With me here,

you lowly Heiwu, kneel down!

You use the demon race's name

to slaughter innocent people.

Truly despicable!

You...

We meet again.

Mount Qiansui,

is remote and isolated,

surrounded by mountains and rivers.

Troublemakers run rampant,

disrespecting imperial orders,

always seeking violence.

Today,

you even conspire with a demoness and raise mythical beasts,

causing havoc everywhere.

The Feiyu Guard,

representing Tiansheng Kingdom's righteous army,

has come here

to execute traitors

and eliminate future threats.

I'll deal with

this demoness myself.

Little Leaf.

Little Leaf.

Hong Ye.

Hong Ye!

If you don't come soon,

I'll have to strangle her.

This neck feels so familiar.

Why isn't your Hong Ye coming to save you today?

Let's fight them!

Li!

Villains!

You're all villains!

Xiao Yao!

Zixiu!

Zixiu!

Zixiu!

Zixiu!

Xiao Yao.

Zixiu.

Zixiu.

Zixiu.
