to right wrongs, to develop understanding

Yeah, man. What are we doing up so early on Saturday?

What are you so cheerful about this early in the morning?

Well, for one thing, I don't have to worry about delivering

the morning news cast as long as we're on vacation.

And for another, it's just a far out day.

[yawns]Uh-huh.

You didn't get enough sleep last night, Mentor.

A bad dream woke me long before dawn.

What kind of bad dream?

Well, I dreamed the Elders were angry with me for oversleeping.

[thunder crashing] Oh.

Speakin' of the Elders.

Yeah. Seems everybody is up early today.

[device beeping]

Oh, Elders, fleet and strong and wise

appear before my seeking eyes.

Today you will encounter, Billy, some people

who are afraid to say what they really feel.

They're afraid to be themselves.

They're afraid to speak out against something

even when they know it's wrong.

They fear that if they make waves

their friends will reject them.

Yeah, I-I felt that way once or twice.

Then you understand.

And perhaps in the future

you can help someone else with this same problem.

What did Achilles mean when he said

"This above all to thy own self be true?"

He meant that our first responsibility

is to be honest with ourselves.

[intense music]

[tires screeching]

This car, it's, it's different. It's different from my dad's.

[tires screeching]

Hey, Mike, slow down, man. You're going the wrong way.

Look, I know what I'm doin', alright?

- Yeah, are you sure? - 'Yeah. Yeah.'

[dramatic music]

[tires screeching]

Hey, Mike, look out. There's Chuck.

[intense music]

[dramatic music]

- What happened? - Oh, I twisted my ankle.

I almost got nailed by that car.

Mentor, I'm tired of bein' a good Samaritan.

Let somebody else get involved with that kid.

Well, I have a hunch somebody already is.

Looked to me like the car those other boys drove off in

was stolen.

Oh, well, they're really in trouble

'cause the kid behind the wheel doesn't know how to drive.

Well, if they're the kind of friends that young man has

then I would say that you're the most positive influence

in his life right now.

They fear that if they make waves

their friends will reject them.

And perhaps in the future

you can help someone else with this same problem.

You still wanna get uninvolved, Billy?

I'll give it another try, but he's long gone by now.

I spent all morning trying to find a kid.

We don't even know his name, where he lives

or anything else about him.

Well, we know one thing.

He's gonna find himself in a lot of trouble

if somebody else doesn't set him straight.

[indistinct chatter]

Hey, my bike's gone.

I knew I should have locked it.

We were only in there a couple of minutes.

Oh. Hey, listen, you guys gotta help me find it.

Oh, come on, Chuck. Where are we gonna look?

I don't know, but we gotta try.

Ah, forget it, man. It's gone.

Look, you can ride with me. Okay?

I gotta find my bike.

[dramatic music]

Perhaps about why you're so upset.

- Somebody just stole my bike. - How'd it happen?

[sighs] I let my buddies talk me out of locking it.

And now it's gone.

Every time I let myself get talked into something

or out of something, I always regret it.

like somebody borrowed my bike?

[clucking]

(Billy) Hold it, Mentor.

Chuck looks as if he's having trouble.

- The key. - Hey!

- Come on. - Ouch! My head.

[dramatic music]

Holy moly! They better be stopped before someone's hurt.

Well, we'll never catch 'em in this, Billy.

I'm afraid it's up to you and Captain Marvel.

Well, get ready to follow me, Mentor.

I may need some help.

[thunder crashing]

[dramatic music]

Man, I think this was a big mistake.

- You better believe it. - Hey, slow down, Mike.

Yeah, don't tell me you guys are chicken too.

I don't believe it. It's Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel?

[dramatic music]

[engine rumbling]

[coughs]

- Shh! - Duck.

[dramatic music]

(boy #1) 'I don't know about you guys, but I'm gettin' out of here.'

[indistinct talking]

You'll get caught for this.

It's your fault. You got us into this.

Look, I never heard any complaints, alright?

Listen, Chuck was right.

We never should have gotten mixed up with this.

Hey, let's, why don't we make it easy on ourselves

and face up to it?

[rumbling]

[clank]

[indistinct shouting]

(all screaming) 'Help! Help! Help!'

Guys, we gotta get out of here.

[dramatic music]

Alright, come on out, fellas.

[indistinct chatter]

What's gonna happen to us, Captain Marvel?

Well, you boys made some mistakes today

and you'll have to face up to them.

Are we going to jail?

I don't know. That's up to the juvenile authorities.

Well, we're only tryin' to have some fun.

I know. And I'm sure Chuck wanted to have fun too.

'But he also had the courage to tell you boys'

'that taking cars was wrong.'

It took a lot of guts for you

not to go along with this, Chuck.

Well, nobody likes to be called chicken.

[siren wailing]

Hi, today we proved how important it is

to do what you think's right

and not let others con you into doing something dumb

just by calling you names.
