[radio DJ] April Shon killing it as always
with her latest track.
Later today we have a brand-new show,
'Island Vibes', where Lila Gray
will be interviewing a very special guest.
Only on Rock Island...
You are going to smash the show today, Lila.
Thanks, guys.
I can't believe you landed a prime-time spot.
Taylor would be so proud.
She'd also be mega jealous
you're interviewing Serena Sweeney.
Yeah, Taylor always said
Serena was the queen of marine biologists.
Besides her mum.
Lovely work. Who's the subject?
Um...
-...Taylor? -Ooh.
You've given her a name!
That's the sign of a true artiste.
You've obviously got a connection with this girl.
Yeah.
I just can't get it to look like her.
[Nori] It looks great, Lila.
What if I'm starting to forget what she looks like?
You could work from a photo.
We don't have any.
Oh, well.
-Keep at it. -[whispers] Thanks.
Oh, Nori!
This obviously isn't your first 'objet d'art'.
My uncle gives my brother and I lessons whenever we stay.
Well, it shows. It's exquisite!
[Meesha] Mine is exquisiter.
[chuckles] All that matters is that youlike it.
Exquis-it-er.
Lila, if you've got a moment,
I would love your help with my soshes.
Soshes?
My sosh media.
I want to connect with the youth.
You know, drum up business for my art class.
Sure. I can help.
Oh, thanks.
[phone buzzes]
What?!
No. It's my producer!
Serena's been called
to rescue a stranded dolphin pod,
which means I don't have a prime-time guest!
I'm sorry, Gillian.
Oh. Not a worry.
I've already started photographing
pieces from my adult class.
And I've been adding filters and hashbrowns.
Hashbrowns?
Uh... You mean hashtags?
Lila, please help her.
[Lila] Oh, that's...
No problem! I can do it!
I can do it all!
Okay, just take pics of the pics,
create a social-media storm for an amateur art class,
find a new radio guest...
Oh, and remember what my sister looks like
before she fades from my memory completely.
[sighs]
[sighs]
[giggles]
Look at you.
No stress.
I wish my life was as simple as yours.
Whoa!
What is going on?
No, no, no, no!
No strange teleporting! Not today!

Did you see a girl in here?
Big energy, colourful hair extensions.
Huh.
She must've gone to the radio station.

The Milk Shack?
Milk Shack? Where they keep the cows?

Art class? That sounds stimulating.

Hey, gang.
This is Samuel. I found him in here.

Love the vintage look, Samuel.

No. Please.
I wish?!
Please! I can't be stuck here forever!
[voice echoes]
What are you still doing here?
Oh. Um...
Your painting. I love the composition.
And the colours.
It's like you've found a way
to capture the foreboding qualities of the lake.
Oh. Thank you.
-Are you an artist? -I'm still learning.
But I saw your painting of the boy fishing.
Oh. 'Gone Wishing'.
Huh. Nice name.
What inspired you to paint it?
I was just feeling overwhelmed by all the stress of life
and wished for a simpler time.
Fishing in a bygone era seemed to capture that.
Hmm.
How do you get your paintings to shimmer like that?
I started to make my own paints from local ingredients.
Oh.
What exactly do you use?
Plant extracts. Tree sap. Bark.
It's strange,
but it makes me feel like they give
a mysterious dimension to my painting.
Yeah.
I feel that too.
Well, thank you, Cassandra.
Can't wait to see more of your work.
-Going so soon? -You've inspired me.
I have my own painting I just need to work on.
'Bye.
Ellis, I need you to run some tests.
If I knew I only had one wish,
I would've used it to get you back.
Or at least remember your face.
I'm sorry, Taylor.
Oh. Hey.
[laughs]
Chrysalis!
Is that Ellis for 'aha'?
No.
I mean, yes.
A chrysalis is what gives Cassandra's paint
its unusual shimmer.
It must've got mushed up in the bark she used.
Specifically, it's the discarded chrysalis
of the Rock Island butterfly.
Interestingly, sometime after the butterfly emerges,
the chrysalis loses the shimmer.
So, does that mean we can switch back Lila and Samuel?
No.
I've been doing some tests
and I still can't figure out what the catalyst was.
It must've had something to do with Samuel.
But all he ever did was fishing.
And fishing.
-Or wishing! -Huh?
Cassandra said the painting was called 'Gone Wishing'.
What if Samuel wished himself out of the painting?
But by that logic
we'd need Samuel to wish himself back into the painting
to bring Lila home.
[sighs] If only Meesha hadn't scared Samuel off.
[gasps]
Oh. Not good.
The paint's losing its shimmer.
It's fading. Just like the chrysalis does.
What does that mean?
Well, if the shimmer
gives the paint its power
and it disappears as it dries...
Lila's about to be stuck there forever.
Meesha needs to find Samuel stat.
When Samuel first arrived
he said he wanted to go to the art class.
He said it sounded 'stimulating'.
And all he did before was fish.
So maybe he's looking for something exciting.
So he'd be somewhere exciting!
Like the Institute's sea slug display!
Ha! Yes!
I was thinking more Paradise Beach.
Oh, yeah...
I'll call Meesha.
There he is!
Okay. We approach quietly.
We don't want to scare him off again.
-Maybe you should hang back. -No.
I need to fix my mess.
I can do it.
Uh-uh-uh-uh!
Hey, Samuel.
-Stay back! -No, no, no.
Look, I'm so sorry that I scared you.
Really, I would never hurt you.
I'm just really worried about my friend.
That's okay.
It's not just you that's scary.
It's the whole kit and caboodle of me being here.
I get that.
I don't understand what's happening to me.
I know. It must feel super strange.
Did you come to the beach to fish?
Yeah, I bet you're sick of fishing, hey?
Oh, no, I'd never tire of fishing.
It's the bees knees.
I just wish I had someone to do it with.
You're lonely?
Why, yes.
I think I am.
This morning did you wish you were somewhere with friends?
Yes, actually. I did.
So, if we could arrange for you to have a friend with you,
would you go back?
So that I can see my friend again?
Please.
Samuel's agreed to go back.
Thanks, buddy.
Oh, no. The shimmer's gone.
Oh, we're too late!
No. We use some more of that paint.
Come on.
If we use what's left of Cassandra's paint,
hopefully we can still swap Lila out.
-Hey! -It's safer with me.
Well, be careful.
Don't give Lila a third arm or something.
Hey, Samuel.
I was thinking all you have to do
is wish yourself back into the painting.
Meesha said she'd get me a friend.
How?
And which one of you is coming back with me?
None of us, but...
...I know a gifted artist who can paint you a new friend.
Thanks, Nori, I'll do my best.
I was talking about Cassandra.
Yeah, okay.
I just hope my new friend
cares for me as much as you do yours.
Alright. It's time.
I wish for my old life.
Did it work?
My paint theory may have been wrong.
Did anything strange happen before you got here?
Um...
I heard something, a girl's voice?
Lila must have made a wish too.
What? To catch a fish?
Well, she has been chronically over-scheduled lately.
She could've wished for some downtime.
So now she needs to wish for her old life back?
How do we get your friend to do that?
Hmm.
That's you.
I mean, I wish I could draw better, but...
...that's you, sis.
[sighs]
Okay, one thing done. Now just to figure out how...
Perfect timing.
Thank you, friends! [giggles]
[Lila and Ellis] I wish... to go back home!
[Lila] It worked.
I'm out. I'm home!
And there's still time to get to the radio station.
Unless you're feeling overcommitted?
Nope. Not anymore. I'm pumped to be back.
So, how much time do I have?
22 minutes and 5 seconds.
That is not enough time to find a new guest!
Don't worry. I've got something sorted.

This is to thank you for all your wonderful soshes.
My art classes are filling up.
Any time.
Careful. I'm gonna take you up on that kind offer.
I got Cassandra to do this for you.
It's beautiful.
But please tell me she didn't use any of her special paint?
Oh.
We'll get you back, Tay. Soon.
I promise.
