We're coming to you live

from the first ever Go Coconuts Festival,

where we're celebrating a crazy-huge harvest

with music, food, activities and all things coconut!

We all ready? Are we all ready?

-[crowd cheers] -Let's do it, let's do it!

Silas, you're not gonna hit it, alright? Let's be real.

[Lila] Sitting perched on the coco-dunk machine

is Nori Harlow from the Harlow Brothers Dive Tours.

-[exhales] -[dramatic music]

[all cheer]

[Lila] He is in the drink!

[Nori sighs]

[Lila] Right now there's a karate demo -

Meesha Rai's new biz - her Junior Island Dojo.

[all] Ha!

Terrifying.

[crowd applauding]

Oh, I can't believe Taylor's finally coming back,

after, like, a year.

Lila, it's been seven weeks.

Well, it felt like a year.

The ferry from the mainland's broken down.

She reports a sighting of a mysterious sea creature

headed for Brookside Beach.

Described as having "two heads, 15 tentacles

"and teeth the size of surfboards"...

-Oh, you totally got us. -Really?

I figured my creature was so outrageous

you'd know I was joking.

Well, some pretty crazy stuff's been happening on the island

since you've been away.

Just like Uncle Charlie said.

Wait, you do know who I mean, right?

We still remember him. And his last message.

-More mysteries, more often. -We're the only ones, though.

For everyone else, it's like he still never existed.

And that's why I couldn't wait another second

on the ferry with Mum.

A solar flare.

Although most aren't visible to the human eye.

And the week after that,

we found salamanders literally breathing fire.

It turned out to be a reaction

from a gas in the berries they ate

plus their love for eating fireflies.

It was awesome hanging out with Mum,

but turtle-tagging doesn't really compare to this place.

[static buzzing over speakers]

-[turns knob] -[buzzing stops]

Solar flares can affect radio transmissions,

so it makes sense it took out the signal.

But making everyone disappear?

Plus, we were exposed to the flare, and we're still here.

Yeah.

I'll check back in town. See if this thing's island-wide.

Could it have something to do with

people forgetting Uncle Charlie?

Him disappearing from photos?

Common element of disappearance. It's a good theory.

Okay, so if we can figure out how to get everyone back,

maybe it will help us bring him home too?

[phone pings, then buzzes]

Except my Grouch app says no.

It indicates a more likely cause.

Coconuts?

One location, two mysteries.

The festival was pitched as community building,

but really it was just an excuse to get rid of excess coconuts.

[whooshing]

Yeah...

Uh, there was a thousand-fold increase in coconuts.

Some were producing hundreds in a week.

So maybe if people ate these,

it could have caused this reaction?

Yes!

Except Nori and I both drank coconut water

and ate coconut ice cream.

except for their physical presence.

It's like it's only affecting people at the festival.

[Lila] After some very interesting dance moves,

time for coconut bowling!

[Nori] We're near the Dive Tours van.

[Meesha] No, you're not. I was just there.

But what about that weird presence we felt before?

Ellis said it's like you're on a different

visual and auditory plane.

He thinks it's the coconuts.

That's why it's only affecting people at the festival.

When we try to leave, something strange happens.

I went all tingly and I started to disappear.

There's only one way in or out.

Meesha, can you guard it? Make sure no one leaves?

We'll check in with Ellis, see if he's figured out

-what's going on. -Yep.

[huffs] Come on, Ellis!

Why isn't he answering his phone?

Don't stress.

Ellis has really stepped it up since you've been away.

Yeah. I have noticed.

Between having his own lab and the Grouch app,

he's probably solved the whole mystery by now.

-Coconut! Coconut! -[Nori] Ellis?

It doesn't even sound like a word when you say it over.

Co-conut. Coconu-u-ut!

Ellis?

What's happening?

My app calculated it was the combination of the solar flare

hitting a strange residue on the coconuts that caused all this.

That's great.

And it showed me how to replicate it.

I beamed a ray of light with the same radiation signature

as the solar flare at this coconut.

And all the fish next to it vanished!

That's fantastic. You worked out the cause!

But I can't work out how to bring them back.

-What did your app say? -Yeah.

Does... not... compute. There were too many variables.

None of it makes any scientific sense!

Ellis, focus.

We managed to talk to Meesha and Lila on the radio.

If anyone tries to leave the festival,

they disappear entirely!

Yeah. And we might lose everyone for good.

Ellis, we need to hurry!

Everyone's relying on me. I can't think! [gasps]

This is my fault.

I shouldn't have left you alone to do this.

Have you seen yourselves?

You are amazing. I mean, I've been trying to keep up.

We've just been trying to hold things together without you.

I didn't get how stressful it is to have someone go missing.

My mums haven't been gone nearly as long as Uncle Charlie,

and I'm freaking out.

So all you need to do is just take a deep breath

and just think.

[inhales deeply]

[Ellis] I'm now thinking these polarisers

let me change the radiation signature of the light.

Hopefully, with the right filter,

it'll reverse the disappearance.

[device powering up]

[Lila] Taylor, Nori. Do you copy?

Yes, we copy.

The festival is supposed to end in an hour.

After that, there is no way

we can possibly keep everyone here.

-[radio blips] -Ellis,

just breathe and keep trying.

[breathes deeply]

[snaps fingers]

Maybe it's not the radiation signature

but the concentration of the light, or both.

Uh... uh...

Why didn't I think of this sooner?

[device powering up]

So we just need to shine this concentrated light

on the pile of coconuts at the festival

and we'll get everyone back?

Theoretically, yes.

But with an area as large as the festival,

we'll need a much stronger light source.

Yes! And a larger lens.

The festival will be in shadow by the time we get there.
