Messages exchanged on
the morning of Darrian's death.

Because despite
what you told us, Gavin,

you were actually the first
to discover Darrian's body.

You knew who Darrian was,

because Ashley had told you
all about him.

And so you contacted Ashley,

left a message telling her

that Darrian had turned up
to the villa and died,

and asking her
what was going on.

A few minutes later she,
or rather, Marjorie, texted back.

See, Marjorie realised that
if the police were called

and found Darrian
with his wound patched up,

they'd know he was shot
somewhere else,

and the trail would lead
right back to her.

So she had to do two things.

First, she texted you
with instructions.

Second, she had to clear up
the real scene of the crime.

Marjorie's confessed
to our colleague in the UK

that she quickly doubled back
from the airport

and returned to Darrian's
house, before disposing

of the gun and the T-shirt he
was wearing when she shot him.

Meanwhile, you moved the body
outside to the swimming pool.

There's also a mention here
of that bullet you kept

as a memento
in the text messages

you sent to Ashley.

Well, that's how Marjorie knew.

So, as Ashley, she asked you

to remove the bullet
she killed Darrian with

and replace it with the one
she knew you had.

However, in your haste,
you must have dropped

the bullet you extracted
into the swimming pool.

But you knew you could come
back and retrieve it later.

Once you'd switched the bullets,
the hard bit was over.

You disposed of the dressing...

..then made a hole
in his T-shirt,

and let the blood
around the wound soak in,

so now it looked like
Darrian had been shot

after he entered the villa,
not before.

The last problem you had was getting
rid of that antiseptic smell,

because that stuff lingers, right?

And if the police noticed it,

we'd certainly be asking who
cleaned up the wound, and why.

So you ran into the bathroom

and got hold of
some aftershave - Neil's -

and doused him in it.

So now all you had to do
was pretend to be asleep

when Mrs Dugdale discovered
the body.

Gavin, we need to get to the
airport. You've got to pack!

Leaving us without a scooby
as to how a man was shot

with a gun that was locked in
a desk drawer 5,000 miles away

in a Swindon warehouse.

In the end,
it wasn't just the police

that Marjorie Dodds had duped.
It was you as well, Gavin.

You see, you thought you were
helping the woman you loved,

a woman you'd do anything for,

when you were actually
helping her killer.

on the suspicion of perverting

the course of justice. You do
