In English.
we call it heart.
But in Persian… we say Del. A short word — soft to say —
and inside it, an entire world lives.
Del is where we feel everything
love, sadness, fear and hope.
It's not only an organ that beats.
It is the home of feelings, the home of memory.
When something touches the Del,
It changes you.
Rumi wrote :
اندر دل من درون و بیرون همه او است
اندر تن من جان و رگ و خون همه اوست
اینجای چگونه کفر و ایمان گنجد
بیچون باشد وجود من چون همه اوست
In my heart and all around me,
Only he is there.
In my body, in my breath and blood,
Only he appears.
How can faith and doubt exist here?
When all I am, in every way, is Him.
When we say Dooset daram دوست دارم
it does not only come from the mouth.
It comes from the Del.
You feel it in your chest —
a soft pressure, a warmth.
That feeling stays with you like a small light.
«دلِ من، خانهٔ تو، ای دوست»
“My Del is your home, my friend.”
This is not an ancient.
It is simple.
It says: you are welcome in my deepest place.
When the Del is broken
when someone leaves or dies
it is not only sadness. The Del learns.
Brokenness teaches the Del how to love differently
more quietly and more deeply.
It becomes like an ember that keeps warm
even in cold nights.
Saadi said :
«دل را به مهر بساز که جهان باز آرد»
Build your Del with kindness
and the world will open.
be gentle in your Del
and life answers with doors.
when a Persian says they love you,
listen not only to the words.
feel the Del behind them.
It is not a sentence.
It is a presence.
You may not speak Persian but you can understand this feeling
because the Del speaks in body and silence.
In Persian,
the Del remembers long after time passes.
It keeps what matters safe.
Stay with me.
And let's keep listening to the language of the Del
