The average horse drinks about 10 to 12
gallons a day.

And we want to keep the temperature around

Because if it's too cold, they're not
going to drink.

Hay does keep them warm.

The rule of thumb is
to increase your hay

ration by 10% every 10
degrees below freezing.

And if she doesn't have
enough hay to stay warm,

her body is going to
burn calories to stay warm.
