My team and I are building on
one giant cliff in the Atlantic ocean.

They don't call it
a rock for nothing.

We fight the elements
year-round to get the job done.

It might be tough for
some, but not for us.

Because when this is
your view, it's worth it.

I'm in cape spear and what's
pretty cool about this place

is we're the most easterly
poin in North America.

Can't get any farther than this!

This historic area is
just around the corner

from our jobsite
in petty harbour.

And on a beautiful
morning like this,

I gotta stop in
and take it all in.

This is the first place that you're
gonna actually see that sunrise.

First ones to drink a
warm cup of coffee.

Plus, we got our own time zone.

We're a half hour
ahead of everyone,

means we can go to work earlier.

I'm definitely an early riser.

Maybe because I
was born early. 4:45!

You know where else would
you want to start your day?

Right here in newfoundland. The
most easterly point in North America.

Just look out over. A
few seagulls flying by,

water, and england, well,
that's somewhere over there.

As much as I love standing
here looking out over the ocean,

I'm an early riser, but I'm not
getting much done from here stood up.

We've got a bunch
of big jobs on the go...

Including one that's just
down the road in petty harbour.

The addition we put onto
the old biscuit box house

is all framed up
and looking mint!

Now... we're moving
on to the inside work.

In upper island cove,
we're adding a big piece

on the back of this
hundred-plus-year-old house.

- Demo, two seconds in, soaked!

- The demo got
off to a wet start,

but it's moving along now.

At home in brigus...

This is why it needs repair.

It's old.
- She rotted.

- I thought I'd add a
personal project into the mix...

It started off
simple, and now...

- Hot tub?

- Wooden hot tub.
- Ooh buddy!

- And across the way, my
perfect morning continues!

We're in harbour
pond here in brigus...

What a beautiful
morning to pour concrete.

We're building a brand-new hous

on one of the last
empty waterfront lots.

It's a pretty cool project.

So in this house, this is
gonna be basement/garage,

but it's a drive-through.
So you come from the road,

drive right through
and go right to the pond

and then they're gonna
have two levels on top of it.

So your living space
and then the bedrooms.

And the view makes
this a top-notch property.

Or, it will be when the house
is done in about 10 months.

But the ocean tides have
made the foundation work tangly.

Uh oh, we're making a duck pond.

The boys had to get their
oilskins on for this one.

But we're solid now.

The water ain't getting
through them walls.

(Beeping)

The work been done, we
got all the foundation in,

we got all the ground tamped,

the plumbing's
roughed in for the floor.

And the styrofoam
layer is on top.

So now, we just
bring in the concrete

and then we start framin' up.

So we got Terry and Rick.

And boys is after pouring
a nice few jobs for us.

That's their forte,
that's why we hire' em.

And their leaving
the wood to us,

and we're leaving the
concrete to them. It's a win-win.

Just keeping an eye
out for a nice level floor.

You want it sloped
a little bit though.

Because when the
water do come in,

you wants it to run out.

Half the floor, well, almost half the
floor done, so we're in good shape.

And hey! Nice weather. (Buzzing)

Oh, get outta there.

I'm going to walk
away before I get stung.

In petty harbour, we've put in a
lot of work to save this old place.

It's a major project
and really taking shape.

The piece added to the
house is giving the homeowners

a brand-new mud room, living
room, washroom, and a pantry.

We're opening the
original house up

to an open concept kitchen,

brand new island,
and a dining area.

With the downstairs moving
along, upstairs is a whole other story.

We've got some
structural work to do!

Big beam install today.

We got three beams
to go inside the house,

and well, waiting
for the boom truck.

- The challenges today is,
you know, with all the wires

and everything around,
you can't really get up here

to set up and put it in through
the easy end of the house so,

you know, you gotta set up out on the road
and you gotta put it in-between the houses.

So, we got 20 feet of beam
sitting in between two houses

which are 19 feet apart.

So it's gonna be a little
bit of wiggle to get it in.

So we're puttin'
these steel beams in

'cause with the new layout
and the new floor plan,

we're opening
this house up a lot

and we need to
like, carry this load.

By today's standards, these
beams are way smaller than,

you know, what
would be acceptable.

So even though they
stood the test of time

and they've lasted now for
probably a hundred years,

we're gonna give them
a little bit of extra support,

just to make sure it
lasts another hundred.

So, we're looking at
going in, in three locations.

One will be about here.

One will be about here...

Paul made the plan.

- So hopefully it works.

- Ah, no pressure.

Don't have a
choice. It gotta go.

- What's the worst
that can happen?

- Well, let's make 'er happen!

- So, this is gonna
be the fun part.

When they block
the road, all this traffic

trying to get
through... Fun times!

Gonna be some honking horns.

Feel like we're in Toronto.

- Hopefully, people
in petty harbour

ain't in a rush to
get out this morning.

Geez, traffic galore!

Paul and Josh and Michael

was on the inside
getting the beams in

and the crane operator had
two fellas, you know, rigging it up.

So, I figured I'd
just look after traffic.

- Move along, nothing
to see here, he says.

(Laughing)

- Feels like the director man.

My outfit? Geez,
looks some shiny.

I just took it out of the
package this morning.

Actually makes it look
awkward it's that clean.

(Honking)

- Uh oh, now we
got a traffic jam!

He'll just have
to stop and wait.

- The thing when you
put on a safety vest,

everyone asks you
questions. You know.

And even when you
wears a white hat,

so I gotta try to find a
green one or something.

Yeah, he'll suck in and
see if you can get through.

- Thank you.
- No problem!

- The white hat usually
means it's either the foreman

or something on the site.

- Someone to be
avoided. (Laughing)

- There she goes,
boys. The first one!

You know what?
It's always issues.

Wires around, the beams are
too long between the two houses,

so it'd be nice when it's done.

And these beams weigh
hundreds of pounds.

Something happens, they
could cause serious damage.

- The biggest concern outside
would be if the wind came up

or something wasn't right, that we
could damage the neighbour's house.

- Oh! They're gonna hit!

I'm not gonna clear it!

Woah!

- This is the tangly part.

- We're in petty
harbour here today.

We're gettin' the
beams installed.

- I'm not gonna clear it!

Woah!

Just like threading a needle.

Only you're using
a lot bigger needle.

(Laughing)
- Gotta try and level her out!

- Well, we got the
first one just starting

to come through the
hole, so far so good.

Boys definitely
knows what they're at.

That went fine and
smooth. Two more times!

- We're getting a
hand crank, lift now to...

Drive it right to the top.

- Oh, all in all, it's all good.

We'll get the roofer's called,
bring on the electricians,

bring on the plumbers,
on to the next step.

Over in brigus... our next job

is a little smaller than usual,

but it's going to have a huge
impact for 6-year-old Allie

and her family in westport,

a fishing village about
six hours west of brigus.

Today is a big day.

We're starting the
make-a-wish project.

Building a playhouse for Allie.

You know, make-a-wish
is all about changing

the lives of kids
with critical illness.

It's amazing to
Grant Allie's wish

for a safe place
to play at home.

- It's going to be like a
modern salt box kind of design.

So, all around newfoundland,
that's our common built house,

the saltboxes, so I wanted
to really play off of that.

And bring a lotta what Allie
really loves into that space, as well.

Once we frame it up,
we'll add clapboard

and paint it with
her favourite colours.

It'll have a slide,
windows for lots of light,

and a custom front door.

It'll be waterproofed,
so she can play inside,

rain or shine, with all
the things she loves.

The biggest concern
is tryin' to get it out.

Tryin' to get it on the
trailer is gonna be a task.

Tryin' to get it off the
trailer another task,

but we gotta drive six hours.

So if anything breaks,
we gotta be ready for it.

Westport is very
small and remote.

There's only one
road in and out.

But their sense of
community is huge.

It's one of those
small little towns.

When you drive in, you know,

everybody know their
next-door neighbours.

You know, if you
needed a little bit of sugar,

couple eggs, you just go
over... Or even a backhoe.

- It's really nice
livin' in westport

because everybody
knows each other,

and everybody knows Allie.

Everybody's really
good with Allie

and got lots of Patience
and it's just really nice.

Like, she's like the
heart of the school

and the heart of
the town, really.

- Allie has a progressive
genetic condition,

and right now there's no
way to reverse it or prevent it.

She needs a safe place to play.

So, when her family
reached out to make-a-wish,

we got on board and
knew what to build.

- When they called me and said
that Allie's wish was gonna be granted,

I was so happy. This is amazing.

I think the best thing that
Allie'll like about this playhouse

is just havin' friends over
in there to play with her.

She's... she's gonna love it.

- You lie down inside there.

- Sure why not.

- Measuring stick.

Today, starting with
harv and Josh, you know,

we're trying to lay it all out.

The boys are
gonna cut the pieces.

Trying to figure out the angle.

The design's up here,
now I gotta get to the wood.

Be one with the wood.

- I haven't built a playhouse
before, so this is the first.

So... see how that goes.

- Got it, I think. You
know, short roof,

so it looks like a salt box.

This will be the sides
of the playhouse.

There's gonna be a front door
right here, you come in... cozy.

Gonna look good.

You know, make-a-wish,
they do wonderful things

for kids, so us to be
able to build a playhouse

and make a little kid
happy, especially Allie,

hey, it's what it's all about.

Over at my shed in brigus...

Nikki's got a colourful task,

that the homeowners
Janet and Liam asked for.

- Today, I'm by myself.

Me and the paint.

Nobody around, super relaxing.

Getting all the clapboard
painted for petty harbour.

And I don't mind!

It's nice when you get
these relaxing days.

(Honking) Here comes Randy

to ruin my zen moment.
The relaxation's over.

- Hey, Nikki, want
to give me a lift?

- See, told ya.

Which way you
going out? This way?

Hang on, you got
it for a second?

- So, I found this in an
old worn-down house.

- Randy being Randy,
will save anything.

- I always know, there's
a use somewhere.

- Okay, you're hooked.

- Back to painting.

- My idea of a holiday
is getting a week off.

Randy's idea of a holiday is
missing spots in the wood with paint.

You gotta prime it and then we'll
put a nice pretty red on top of this.

The houses in newfoundland are definitely
not afraid to use pops of colour.

Newfoundlanders
loves a bit of colour.

The process is one coat of
paint and then when we install,

we do the last final
coat of paint on-site.

Just to cover up
all the nail heads.

I'm enjoying a nice relaxing
day with nobody around.

If I have too many holidays, I won't
get another nice relaxing day painting.

- At my shop in brigus,
harv and Josh made

some great progress on
Allie's wish for a playhouse

with it all framed up,
time to look in my shed

for some other
materials we need.

When we go find stuff, we
used to call it the boneyard

because you always went
up and found what you wanted.

- One window.
- Is that doubled?

- Double-paned too.

- You never know
what you're gonna need.

- Found another one right there.

I was gonna throw them
in the garbage anyway.

- We found two
windows we need to use,

we got clapboard, we got trim.

Really if I wanted
to go looking,

I got enough to
build this whole place.

- Recycle, reuse!

- This is actually gonna be
looking like exposed beams.

- Nice.

- So, we're gonna
stain all of this,

you know, some hard wood.

I'm treating this
like a mini house!

I'm going all out
on the finishes.

- It's gonna be
great. Nice design.

With my touch on it later
on, it'll be even better.

(Laughing)

- One there and one there.

It'd be deadly if I can
make that one work.

We're definitely struggling
on where to put the windows.

- Watch out, shorty!

(Laughing)

- Yeah, so placement
and what look best and...

Yeah, give some of your

- Would you want the

checking in yesterday.

Shorty's behind us
checking in today,

so who knows what
he got to say about it.

He's over looking
at the plans now.

- Grady! Thumbs up on the plans?

What? Holy! (Laughing)

- So, I'm here one day and
gone the next and harv is here.

Well, the whole crew. The
way it's gonna work now,

anybody gets a spare
hour or spare day,

they're putting on this
so, it's working out good.

We're gonna get the skylight
and the other window in

and all the front's gonna
be kind of glass-looking.

It'd be nice and bright in here.

So, it's just to grab the
glass and see if it fits.

So, the goal is to set the
window in, on caulking,

and then we're gonna caulk
the window fully in the frame,

and then, caulk
around with some trim.

It's homemade
so, do what we can.

Shim it up here and
there and we'll be good.

What's gonna happen now,
we're flashin' the full bottom

right across, down
and out over the trim.

So when the water runs
down, it'll just run right off.

We're not cuttin'
any corners here.

Just because it's
a playhouse now,

we're gonna make it watertight

and we're gonna do
the best of our ability to...

To keep it from leakin'.

- Down in petty harbour,

Paul's got a perfect day to
take on some exterior work.

- So, today I'm here
with Harvey and Michael

and the windows have arrived.

Well, most of the
windows have arrived!

So, we're still three
windows short and two doors.

Um, they're coming
on the next shipment.

If you look behind
me, you'll see a custom

metal flashing I made to
cover over the concrete

to divert the water
out of the way.

Where they poured
the concrete so flat,

it will just give a spot
for the water to lay

and the water could either
travel in or it could travel out.

So, with this flashing there,
it should divert all the water,

but if it don't, I have this
secondary membrane

which is a
peel-and-stick product.

So, this goes on first.

The two of these
products put together

makes the perfect system to keep the
water away from the sills of this home.

Up another touch on that side!

Is she centered in the bottom?
- Nope.

- Centre up.

- Oh, windows!

- Hey, how's it going, Janet?

- Oh my god, I'm so excited!

- Something different
to the spot, isn't it?

- They look so cool!

It's so, it's so
beautiful. I love them!

Windows! Yes!

Windows, especially
in a place like this,

I mean, you're gonna spend a
lot of time looking out the window.

To have beautiful
windows to look out of,

that you have a
view out of every spot,

is pretty special.

It's been an adventure,
but when it doesn't even look

like a house anymore and you're
thinking, "what have I done?"

But I have to accept that I
just have to go with the flow.

(Laughing)

- Today in brigus,

me and my crew are ready
to take on the next stage

of building Allie's
make-a-wish playhouse.

You know, we got
all the clapboard on

and now we can
actually put some colour.

That's when it
starts coming to life.

- What colour you got?
- I got uh, yellow.

- I've got me
hands full already.

Hopefully I don't get
any on me clothes!

Definitely gonna
be fun for Allie.

- Yeah, these are her
favourite colours too, isn't it?

- Favourite colours!

Hey, we're all about colour
anyway in newfoundland so...

You know, picking out colours,

especially when it's in
house, usually we leave it

up to Sam and Sasha, but
it's a little bit hard decision.

You know, they chippin'
in, but we got a lot of debate.

- Three colours on the
trim or just three colours?

- Uh, no.
- Uh, just three colours.

- No trim?
- No.

- White trim?

- Yeah, you going
white, aren't you?

- No, I was gonna
paint all the trim.

- What? Oh my lord!

I think we should take a vote

to see if we should
paint the trim.

- What are you
thinking, just clapboard?

- I don't know, boy.

You're gonna cover up
all the nice trim we did.

- We got four hands
trying to figure out,

"should we paint trim,
should we not paint trim."

- I think we should colour
trim a different colour.

What do you think, harv?
- Yeah, make the purple pop.

- That's right, make
the purple pop.

- Either we're gonna
paint the trim purple

or we're gonna
paint the trim white.

My vote is purple.

I kind of like it all
when colour blends in.

It's more, I guess, the
new modern, new age.

- Listen, we put all that
work into making that trim

and making that nice trim around
that window, if I do say so myself.

I thinks we should make it pop.

- I want to see what uh, what
it looks like around the window.

Right?

- It'll make the window pop.

Once you gets
that nice and white.

- I dunno, white.

- What do you think,
Josh? White trim?

- I thinks white would
make it pop a bit more, yeah.

- There you go. I think
Randy's overruled.

- I'm getting outnumbered, I
think we're going with trim white.

Good thing I didn't bet any
money on this or anything else.

The thing is, I got no white.

So, the next thing is
painting the inside so,

it'll probably be a lot
of colour in there too.

Which will be another debate.

Who knows? We'll see.

Probably I'll paint it
when they're not around.

In brigus, the work on Allie's
playhouse is nearly done.

Now the hard part, getting sign-off
from our toughest inspectors.

- You want to see the playhouse?
You want to go in the playhouse?

- So, today we're
bringing all the kids.

We got Sam and
Sasha, you know, Nikki.

- Guys, come look
at the new playhouse.

- Whoa!

- See what they think of it.

You know, if they give us
a stamp of approval, mint!

- Oh yeah, you can do it!

- I can do it! (Laughing)

- It's going pretty good.

We're fitting

It's pretty special, isn't it?

- The kids are loving it!

Such a great job. This
isn't just a playhouse,

this is a mini
house. This is huge!

- It is a house
with windows and...

- Skylights!
- And skylights! It's beautiful.

I'd live in it.
- It's amazing, yeah,

- This is for Allie.

It's a lot of fun to
be able to give back

and be able to provide something
like this for someone so special.

- Yeah. This isn't
just something

where she goes somewhere
and she has one experience.

She's going to have this
with her every day now,

something they're
going to be able to enjoy

in the rain, in the sun,

and she'll always have it,

so I'm really happy
to be a part of this.

- So, the build
is basically done.

But now we need
the design finishes.

So, we need Sam and
Sasha to weigh in on that

to give us all them
little fine details

so we can do it when we're out
there, because they're not coming.

How hard can it be?

- It's going to be a
beautiful little space for her.

It's gonna have some cushions,
a nice bench, some lighting.

Some texture and colour,

just make it really fun for her.

the plan, don't stress.

So, do we have an approval
by all the little shorties?

Weather's always a challenge
here in newfoundland,

especially now that it's fall.

You know, this is the
time for hurricanes,

this is the time
for the ragin' seas.

You know, we got hit by
Larry and Sam just missed us

by the skin on our teeth, so you
never know what's comin' down the line.

In petty harbour, the
weather isn't the best,

but Paul's back with the crew

continuing the
work on the exterior.

We've to get this
place buttoned up

before the weather really turns

- we got the clapboard
started over on the end

and the boys are out
working on the back so,

we're gonna try and
get this watertight

so we can get plumbing,
electrical, and insulation done.

As much as we'd like
to start on the front,

we haven't received
our big front window

for the kitchen and the doors.

So, we started over on the
main siding and at the end,

you'll never know
where we started!

Our clapboard, we put the rough
side out, not the smooth side.

Our climate and our weather
is really harsh on the paint

and it can, you
know, cause it to peel.

So, the roughness gives
a good surface for the paint

to bond to and something
to bite into and grip.

So, it'll give lots of
years of good service.

- I don't know, I
don't think it's gonna...

- Does it fit?
- Not good.

- Had the guys in the shop make
the trim for the round window.

And a round window in
vinyl is not a perfect circle.

It's very close,
but it's not perfect,

and their circle was so exact
that I could not get it to fit over.

So, I had to router rabbet
in the back of the trim.

And this rabbet allowed
the extra bit of space

so that it can slip on over.

Just do a little
bit of face caulk,

just keep everything
weather tight.

Worked out mint!

- Originally, I started
painting the clapboard

and here I am, installing
it too, just like I thought.

So, it's always good to see
it getting buttoned up though.

You wanted that board
levelled up with the corner.

It goes from an
inch and a half to 3/4.

- That looks like you
squared around that corner.

- I did, yeah.

- Okay, that's
gonna be a mistake.

The problem is, the
original existing walls

are not plumbed or not square.

And with using your
square in the corner,

it marks downhill and uphill,

and it can throw off the grade.

You're measuring down like this,

but when you plumb it,
you're actually like that.

So, each time you go up...

- Now I'm gonna
be an inch and a half

by the time it gets over to
the other neck of the woods.

- Hey, like anything,
it's always time to learn

a new trick so,
today was the day.

- Bloody journeyman. He's
always right too, it drives me nuts.

That's how he
got his title, boy.

Knowing his stuff.

Grrr!

I'm glad he caught it
because I would not want

to waste a whole day's
labour putting all this on,

only to take it all off.

Just another tweak, minor.

We'll be back in
action in no time!

- Back at the shop, Allie's
playhouse is ready for transpor

from brigus all the
way over to westport.

Big day. Getting
ready for the road trip.

Now we got the little
playhouse all built.

Now we gotta try
to get it on the trailer.

We don't want to build it
again, so gotta be careful.

I'll take the
forklift, twist it.

- Yep.

- And then, we'll
pick up one end.

That's the thing, I'm
gonna have to get in there

and pick up that end.
Let's see what happens.

We got 3/4 of an inch
between the wheel Wells to fit it.

And that's for both
sides. No room for error!

- Okay, go slow.

In brigus, we're
loading up the playhouse

for a long haul to westport.

but you just keep
going. We can fix it.

We're gonna slide
this right underneath.

- Not every plan
works as Randy thinks.

He was complaining this morning

I made the size an
eighth of an inch too big.

We'll see how it goes.

- Okay, not much
more. Alright, that's it!

- Uh, we're mid-way.

This is the uh...
Critical point.

If it's gonna fit or not...

- It's gonna be a real tight
squeeze so, if it goes south,

we'll probably have
to bring some lumber.

- Hang on, I'm good.

- You gotta twist over that
way at least a couple inches.

- Another little bit, Randy,
and then go straight.

Okay, straight.

- I didn't think it was
going to be that tight no.

bit of touch up paint,

but, other than that, good.

I can say that we're taking
a shed and hauling it across,

or playhouse, it'll be a first.

There's always concerns
if you forget something,

going six hours away.

Long drive to go back to get it.

- We got paint brushes?

playhouse actually.

- We got a lot of
stuff in the truck so...

Paul can't fit, so we're
making him drive himself.

- On the plus note,
you don't have to listen

to Nikki on Max for six hours.

starting this project,

it been probably
what, two months now?

Have it all done and be
able to deliver it... pretty good.

- It hits home for all of us.

We're all parents and family

and we all got family
so, it's a lot meaningful.

It's gonna be emotional and

about six hours from brigus.

There's only one road that
goes from east to west...

And it's one of the
best drives in the world.

I'm in the back seat.

This is deadly. I can sprawl
back, have a nap, mint.

- Plus we have to have
someone that stays awake, Nikki,

for to be shotgun, right?

- One thing I'll be seeing
is the back of me eyelids.

Buddy, I grew up a pure townie.

Until I start, came out the
bay and started with you guys,

I hardly went anywhere.

So, I'm excited about
a nice little road trip.

- We had a fun trip.
We come across,

Randy was about
5, was in the car,

me and dad and mom and uh,

well, dad and Randy and then,

we come across and
couldn't get a hotel.

Pouring down rain, we
all had to sleep in the car.

- No way!
- For the whole night.

- So much to see.

As you say, we're
driving six hours

and we got another
probably four hours to go

before we get to
the end of the island.

Exploring the big lands.
- Hey now.

No matter how many
times you cross the island,

there's always something
new to see and it's always great.

Especially this time of
year, all the different colours.

- It's nothing better
driving across the island.

Newfoundland's
like a mini-Canada...

Rugged coast on the east
and mountains on the west.

- I'm excited to see
just this side of 'er.

- And you were gonna
sleep the whole way.

- Oh, I'll wake
up in a little bit.

(Birds chirping)

- So we been on
the road six hours,

all the team together,
it was a long trip in,

but hey we're here,
the house made it.

Now we just gotta
try to get it off.

- Ooh, she moved a little...

- Yeah, she bounced
on this side...

- Yeah, she had to bounce...

You were doing 120 down
the road, she had to bounce.

- Hopefully, the
lift will come now,

and then we can
start lifting it off

and placing it.

We'll get a game plan
because if it don't come,

I don't know what
we're gonna do.

We'll be screwed, I say.

- What the dynes did we get
up at 6 o'clock in the morning...

- There was supposed to
be a forklift here this morning,

a big telehandler, which
it's not showing up yet,

who knows, but he might be
delayed, he might have broke down.

The team is a
little bit stressed.

- So, what's your plan
of action now then?

- I thought it was gonna
be here, I didn't know.

- You just gotta roll
with the punches.

- He was gonna be here
at eight o'clock this morning.

I'm sure it's after eight now.
- It's about 8:30.

- The fun of it all!

- Okay, if it's
not here in time,

we're lifting it off ourselves?
- Everything's icy!

It'll just slip right off!

- I think you should
slow your brains down

until we got a forklift.

I'm not in the mood to be going

and lifting shit there today!
- Four of us. A corner each.

The worst thing about
it, we can't even call!

- No service!

- What are you gonna do

- I know! Best tool, gone down!

- Gone. (Laughing)

- Thing is we're not carrying
on if we don't get a lift

by dinnertime, she's comin' off,

come hell or highwater,
she's coming off.

We made it across
the island to westport,

problem is, there's
no cell service

and no way to find
out if help is on the way

to lift the playhouse
off the trailer.

- One thing about it, if we had a
few round logs, we could roll it off.

- Well, that one's not
too bad. The two of them.

- They're square boy! (Laughing)

A square wheel!

- Shake a leg.

- Oh jeez!

- I say we wait
for the telehandler.

What do you say, pop? You
got any pull in this company?

- Not much. (Chuckling)

- That would be
my only concern...

- Hey now.

Heard me crying my prayers!

- Ha-ha! Deadly!

(Laughing) That's wicked!

- We were getting
worried at first.

Didn't think you
were going to make it.

- Workin' a project
for make-a-wish,

it's a great opportunity.

I'm happy that the
town's doin' this.

So, it's awesome.

- That'll be perfect
right where it's to.

Hey, things are moving ahead.

The old man and me is
over there doing the slide.

Paul's doing the ramp.

Nikki's in sweeping the floor.

But we got one big task...

And that's trying
to dress that space.

That's the fun part,

that's the part we don't
know anything about!

Luckily enough, Sam and
Sasha gave us a little blueprint.

It's gonna be fun.
We can build a house,

we should be
able to lay pillows.

- Take off your boots, that's
all you got to remember.

I can... I already
got that cleaned.

- I already got them fluffed up
so don't mess em up too much.

- Everybody had their
hands on this project.

You know, from the
design team to us building it.

Oh look, we got Teddy
bears and everything!

Then we got here and then
the whole town chipped in.

- Coming to westport, we didn't

the neighbour had a forklift,

he came by,
helped us lift it off.

Another guy had a
backhoe, moved stone.

It's what you do here.

When you need a hand,
someone's there to lend it.

- Perfect.

- It took a nation
to build this.

From the boys in the
shop pullin' together to do it,

all of us comin' out, the
neighbours have chipped in.

Definitely makes you feel welcome
to such a small community, hey?

- Feels good. It's a good
feeling to be on the home stretch.

Almost done.

The quicker we
get finished up now,

the quicker Allie
can start enjoying it.

So, that's what
we're here for, isn't it?

So, let smiles begin,
when the work ends!

- Big day today, you know
what, we made a long trip,

six hours to get here,
got it all put together.

We did the open beams,
the shiplap on the walls,

the herringbone floor, you know

the back walls different
colours, the two benches

and bring a lot of what Allie
really loves into that space as well.

It's like a small house,

the only thing you're
missing is the kitchen.

But we got the
dining room table.

- Oh wow, look, Allie.

- We're here
granting a wish today

and there's nothing
more special than that.

This whole process was about
changing, you know, Allie's life.

But I didn't realize how much
it was going to change our life.

It's inspiring, for sure.
