Are you unable to catch him

or have you not gone to catch him at all?

Zhao,

according to our internal rules,

there are some things which I can't tell you.

But I can make an exception today.

I'll you to a place.

After you see it,

if you still want to stand here,

I'll accompany you to do that.

Okay?

Come on. Come in.

In this room,

there are all the clues

which are related to the 412 case.

They cover the time from 1998 to last month.

Zhao,

I broke the rules today

by taking you here

because I want to tell you that

it's our responsibility that

we have failed to catch Wang Dayong in these ten years.

But we didn't do nothing.

A few years ago, you kept asking me about it.

I always answered that we were working hard on it.

It's been ten years by today.

I think

I'm too ashamed to say this to you.

But Zhao,

no matter how long it has been,

how many places we need to search,

and how many people we need to find,

we'll definitely catch

Wang Dayong so as to

give you an explanation.

Okay.

I'm glad that you haven't given up.

I'm glad that you haven't given up.

Sorry to have bothered you.

Thank you.

I won't

come again.

Why do you come to see me?

The time of death and the location of discovery recorded in this note

are very close to the final location where Wang Dayong abandoned the car

and esccaped.

After Wang Dayong committed murder and robbery at that time,

he was chased by us closely.

He didn't even have enough time to escape out of Ningzhou.

How could he have time to kill someone again?

Besides,

what was his motive?

You can't accuse Wang Dayong of this crime

just because someone died nearby.

Wang Dayong is someone who always

thinks outside the box.

After he and his brother raped and killed that girl,

didn't they still go to rob someone of the project funds?

Don't worry.

We'll investigate this case thoroughly.

Besides, Cheng Bing,

you're not a policeman anymore.

I know.

I just want you to

try investigating this case according to this idea.

Why are you still as self-righteous

as before?

Let me put it this way.

The data of the pager on the victim

has been restored.

Before Wang Dayong arrived in Ningzhou,

this person had already been killed.

Cheng Bing, I know that

Wang Dayong is a thorn in your heart.

He's also a thorn in my heart.

So don't worry.

I have a meeting.

I have to go.

April 12.

On this day every year,

I would go to the police station first

and then come here

to talk with Xiaomai.

Every time I went to the Public Security Bureau, I would ask

whether the other murderer had been caught.

They told me

they were still looking for him,

and they asked me to go back to wait.

In the first year,

I went back to wait.

In the second year, I still went back to wait.

But in the third year,

I thought

the policemen were busy with many cases,

and they had lots of cases

which were more important than mine.

They were just too busy to solve them all.

But I couldn't accept that.

I wouldn't be able to give an explanation to Xiaomai.

She's my daughter.

Later,

I resigned

and worked everywhere

I looked for him while working.

I looked for him while working.

But I wasn't a policeman.

I didn't know how to find him.

I was just like a headless fly.

All these years,

I often dreamt of Xiaomai.

Every time, she would ask,

"Dad."

"Have you caught that bad guy?"

I didn't know how to answer her question.

How do you think

I should answer her question?

By the way,

I have to thank you, Captain Cheng.

At least, you killed one of the bad guys

- and took half of the revenge for Xiaomai. - Mr. Zhao.

Don't do this.

Mr. Zhao, don't do this.

I messed up the case.

I should apologize to you and Xiaomai.

I'm useless as her father.

Daughter,

I'm old.

I don't have the energy to look for him anymore.

I'll quit looking for him.

Bro, you are eating this late?

Don't get too full.

I'll treat everyone to a good meal tonight.

What's wrong, Liu?

What happened?

Nothing happened.

If nothing happened,

why are you going to treat everybody to dinner?

Our buddies have been so tired lately.

Why can't I treat everyone to a meal?

Liu.

Have you won the lottery?

I think you look like a lottery.

There's a good thing.

I got a big project.

From today onwards,

our car wash shop

will officially become the designated car wash shop

for the insurance company.
