Last week on No Prep Team.

Heading into the Invitational, Team Kai
Kelly was in first place with only a 20

-point lead over Team Daddy Dave. Who
was in second?

So Dave Comstock, looks like the car
died after the burnout.

Unfortunately for Dave, his team had a
string of bad luck.

Both he and Axeman had car problems. It
could be any of that. It's like a ghost

tent. It could be something major.

Yeah, we're supposed to be on the
starting line now.

While Team Kai dominated the entire
event.

He's having a great time.

He is having a great time. I'm having
the most fun I've ever had in my life.

With three of his drivers making it to
the semis.

And Kai winning the $40 ,000 invitation.

That gave Kai's team the strongest lead
in points they've had all year long.

As you know, this class is a team class.

These drivers are all part of eight
different teams trying to win that

I'm excited to see the races. I've never
seen them live before, so I'm so

excited to see that. Ryan Martin is my
favorite. He's the fastest man on the

planet. Now, Lizzie's my favorite.

Ty Kelly, Daddy Dave.

The only one I wanted to see win was
Pipey Murder Nova.

He hasn't been up in the top for a
while.

Had a rough season, but I hope you can
get up there.

We are here in Las Vegas. It is the
first time ever we've been to this

and we're getting ready for the first
round.

Any weekend in Vegas is a good weekend,
plus coming off of Colorado, where we're

at high altitude.

We're a little closer to sea level here,
but still between 2 ,000 and 3 ,000

feet. These cars are going to make a
little more power than on the side of

mountain, but that doesn't mean tuning
will be easy.

Kai's team has a solid lead right now
with 790 points. But, as we all know,

anything can happen in Vegas.

Hey, watch that trophy right there, man.
Hey, watch that trophy I let you win

last week? Yeah. Oh, man.

Hey, congrats later. You don't have to
rush your way in. Yeah.

I got lucky.

Yeah. No, you was good last week. I got
lucky, brother. I got a good team. And

I'm on the best team here.

Damn right.

I can see how Ron Martin's felt for the
past three or four years.

In the number one spot, like we are,
there's only one way to go, and that's

down. The only time it's fun to be
number one is at the end of the season

they're handing you that trophy and that
$200 ,000 check.

So we're just going to keep grinding,
race hard all the way to the last race,

and hopefully we fill the number one
spot.

Listen, we all go two rounds today,
we're back in the lead.

Team Daddy Dave did not have the best
event last weekend in Colorado.

But they have a lot of fast racers, and
they're always a threat to make a

comeback. Kai, he's got a horseshoe up
his ass right now. His team does really

good. But just like every team out here,
up and down, peaks and valleys. Like,

they're at the peak right now. They're
rounding up.

Things are going to start breaking.
Things are going to start happening, and

they'll be on the downhill slides. Like,
you'll have to catch Kai and Lizzie on

a bad day to beat them. Did you realize
how much more spunky our team was when

we were number one in points?

When we went to two, he was like... Ryan
Martin is currently sitting in third,

and he is looking to lead his team in an
epic comeback.

We've always said that we're just, you
know, a race swing away from being able

to take that number one spot.

That means Kai's team, you know, goes
out first round, all of them, which,

again, it's going to be hard, but it's
possible. And we all advance, and a

couple of us end up in the semifinals
and finals, and all of a sudden, that

changes.

I'll tell you what we need to do from
this point on. Every car right here is

fast. We need to go right here. This is
Vegas. We need to win this race. We need

one of our guys to win this race.

So my team, man, we've been kind of
disappointed.

We started off really, really fast.

Damon and Nathan was carrying us. They
was kicking ass, beating everybody.

Me and Bowman and Bobby has not been
able to carry the rest of the team,

our load, you know? So right now our
team has fell off. We moved all the way

down to fourth place.

This weekend, man, it's time to make
some changes. Tonight, we got a lot of

pressure on our back.

I think all of us are starting to get
things lined out, and

some other people are having problems.

Now is the time. Yeah. We got my hot rod
back, so we're good. You made some good

ones yesterday? We made a lick last
night.

Wow.

That was good.

That's all we need, man. We got to go
some rounds. Yes. It's time to peak now.

That's the way it's supposed to work.
Towards the end of the season, you're

supposed to peak.

Yeah. I don't think I've ever had so
much pressure on me to not go out first

round as the day after I win my first
grade eight.

So at this point, everybody's looking at
me.

this, with how hot it is and how greasy

the track is, you can't mess up.

many trades as in past weeks.

Disco Dean dropped Jerry Bird into the
reserves after his car blew up last week

and pulled up Jerry Jansen.

And Mike Murillo dropped Mike Chandler
and pulled up Dominator.

After Race Your Way In, Team Kai Kelly
and Team Daddy Dave both have five

in today's event. So it's going to be
interesting to see who will help or who

will hurt their team.

We're officially in the back half of the
season, so now is the time for each and

every team to kick it in gear and make
moves if they want to stay in the hunt

down the homestretch.

All 32 drivers will draw from the
bucket.

one today that will definitely send some

heavy hitters home early.

up to be a hell of an event.

We got three out of five in. So it's me
and you and Jimmy. Yeah, no, it's all

good. We need to go semis or better this
weekend, get on the map, get past

Murillo's team. You know what I mean?

Viva Las Vegas. I draw chip number one,
Kyle Canyon.

I kind of like being pair one, getting
it done. It's hot out here. It's

97 to 100 degrees right now. Especially
if that sun just keeps like having no

clouds in the sky.

Track temperature will be 135.

First pair down, don't have to sit in
the car a long time. Get up there, get

done. Gives me more time to turn the car
around and make changes for second

round if we can win this first round.

We're coming into the second half of the
season.

It just gets brutal from here on out.

Last night, the track conditions were
not really that good. We had so many oil

downs, so many cleanups, so much time in
between cars going down and the track

just goes to put it nicely.

Coming into today, the sun's out. It's
hotter than Hades. It's greasy.

So it's going to be really tricky for
any of the guys to get down through

The goal today is just go around to get
wins.

We fell down to second against Guy. We
just need to get together and just keep

racking up points so we can get back
into number one.

fastest pass, but we got to win. We went

I don't know how close it was. I was
glad to get that one out of the way. I

needed it after the last two races going
out in the first round, so we're back.

laid a good lap down, just wasn't

It's a whole different day than it was
yesterday.

You go from 85 degrees in a cool track
to super slick, hot, sunny mess.

When we ran our test pass last night,
the track temp was 94 degrees. Right now

it's 128.

Well, you know, we knew when we came to
Vegas it was going to be hot. It's

Invitational Day.

This is going to be a badass race,
someplace we've never been before. It'll

be a super challenge because... This
track's going to be slick with that sun

beating down on it. I just feel like
it's going to be a good day.

This is the kind of stuff where we've
been good and where the car can be good.

It's just the struggle of, all right,
how do we get that into the car to make

do what we want it to do?

I got Paige Coughlin first round. In New
Hampshire, she beat us. Like, we just

made some mistakes, and she just beat
us. Good for her.

This round's going to be different.

The plan going into this round is to
soften the car, make it leave right. We

move some weight back. It might stand
up.

The goal with this run is just get that
car down and get it fast on the top end.

I drew Robin Roberts and I was like,
ooh, this should be interesting because

was actually the first person I ever
raced in the Invitational in New

at the end of June.

But, you know, we beat them before, so
I'm like, all righty, well, just keep

that in the back of your mind. You know
what you're doing.

The car has been running really, really
well this weekend, and just go race your

race.

So I launched with Paige.

We're neck and neck. It was just stood
up, and it finally sits down, and we

drove away from her.

That's how you win a race.

First round is always the hardest. It's
miserable. You're torn up inside.

It's great to just get on to the second
round. Now we can go after winning this

race. Great lap.

These guys are just fast out here, and I
have to keep reminding myself, we're

new. You're paying your dues. Just keep
going at it. Keep putting it back in

line and keep racing. Don't stop.

God willing, a little bit of luck, and
we get to win over Kayla and go on to

I don't think we've had a longer Friday
night at an MPK event. That was the

longest night. It cut into my gambling
time.

It didn't cut into mine.

Oh, it didn't? You rallied.

No, I rallied. You rallied. Dad's
wearing his lucky hat today. It is a

hotter today than it was yesterday, so I
think you can probably expect to see a

few upsets first round. This track is
really going to be tricky, but I have

the faith in the world in Chase, and I'm
ready for first round today.

Everybody is just getting faster. We
have to be on our A -plus game every

Some upsets today on this racetrack.

We demonstrated just that.

We went up against Doc, feeling
confident.

I honestly thought it was in the back.

The boat took off clean. I had him the
entire way, and then maybe like 500

it just got out of control.

I mean, it just nipped me at the very
end. So an L today is better than a

-up race car, and I think if I would
have drove it anymore, that's where we

would be. So we'll lick our wounds and
come back next week.

What happened, babe?

Oh, we just got super, and you came
around me at the very end.

High hopes for Team Heavy Metal and no
respect for the end of the season. I get

to stay on Team Murder Nova for at least
one more race, and I got some points,

baby. Get greasy on the big end. Yeah.

That's a tough break for Kayla in that
race.

She was ahead at the start, but got
loose on the big end.

The track is tricky today, and it's
proving to be a challenge for some of

racers. They're going to have to be
careful with how much power they put

they want to get a win.

against Lizzie Musi.

So we beat her in a grade 8. Then she
come back and smacked us around in two

races.

So this is tough going in here.

It's the first time we've raced first
round, I think. Yeah.

Either way, whoever gets the win is
going to really help the other team.

It's hot out here.

I'd rather help my team, but I always
feel good when I draw Lizzie. I'm like,

yeah, we're going to get that win.

And when I get to the finish line, I'm
like, oh, that hurts.

Yeah. I mean, somebody keeps beating you
and beating you. It's rough.

Let's go out there and win one. Yeah.

We're going to give it a whirl.

Went up here to the chip draw with Lynn
Nullyweather and Lizzie Musi.

So this makes.

Out of nine races, this will be the
third time we break. She put me out two

times. So every time I pull her tip, I'm
pretty confident. I'm feeling like,

hey, I can get this. I got this.

But when I get to the finish line, it
doesn't work out that well beside her.

She's been whooping me bad.

So hopefully I can pay her back a little
on this pass here.

I feel good. We just got to keep this
motor alive. That's the biggest thing.

We're fighting that right now.

We literally, we didn't make a full pass
yesterday, and we were pulling this

thing apart.

So when people say that nitrous cars
have it easy in the West Coast, they're

lying. They're lying.

So we've got to keep it together and
hopefully go some rounds today. But a

is always on the schedule for us, so
that's what we're hoping to get. But

it puts us.

I was glad to get that win.

I just hate going out first round. It
sucks. But we knew we were going to

struggle here.

side because that's when we're really

going to, that's when it's about to go

so that's gonna be the toughest part.

First round, I draw my teammate,
Giuseppe. Not at all who I wanted to

literally doesn't help us any. That
means one of us is not advancing. So,

we collect the 40 points for all four of
us being in the first round, but we're

guaranteed that one of us doesn't make
it to the next round.

So not only do you have to worry about
that when you just draw the drivers, but

now either I'm going to go out early or
he's going to go out early, and it's not

going to be good for the team no matter
how it happens.

As a team, we're doing pretty good.
We've got four out of the five guys.

Chuck, unfortunately, did not make it in
due to some type of equipment failure.

But four out of five is good.

Unfortunately, whenever you draw your
own teammates, you have to turn off team

for a few minutes. You pull into the
staging lanes, and Giuseppe's another

to me. And I hate it because he's my
buddy, he's my teammate, but I've got to

give him the best race I can give him so
that I can be the guy to advance.

I had to pedal it, started going toward
the center line, had to get back out of

it. I seen him coming up on my left. I

So I went ahead and got back in the
throttle again.

And thankfully, we turned on the wind

You know, lately he's been kind of doing
good and doing bad, just kind of like

I let go of the button, the car started
shaking, and it spun the whole way and

turned sideways about 150 foot and just
had to abort the run.

It shook right off the hit, and I tried
to drive through it. It just stayed

spinning, spinning, spinning. It just
pissed off.

Yep. Once they mad, they mad.

We're seeing a ton of drivers experience
tire shake today.

Tire shake can be caused when a car
doesn't have enough wheel speed and the

tires hook too much.

Everyone is out here utilizing power
management for the slick parts of the

track. But then, when they hit a part of
the track that isn't slick, they don't

have quite enough power in the car, and
it causes the tire to shake.

With today's conditions, the tune -ups
need to be perfect. Not too fast, not

slow.

that ass woman from Murder Nova last

night, we're just going to fight through
this weekend. I knew there was going to

be a weekend when I sucked.

I done just that last night in a grade
8, and we're hoping to turn things

Obviously, last night you had to race
your way in against Paige Coughlin. It

a tight race. What happened?

Well, we got going toward the wall and
got the steering wheel and it just

wouldn't turn. I told my foot to lift,
but it just didn't lift.

Well, last night we was on our run our
way in against Paige.

The car started going left. We was out
in front.

I just didn't lift. I stayed in it as
long as I could.

All right,

it was all just cosmetic.

We turned on the wind light. We made it
in the race today.

I mean, we're just super excited to make
it in again. This is our second time

making it in in three races. So, I mean,

He was actually out in front of me a
little bit. I seen him over there. The

My car started getting upset.

I just drove through it. Made it to the
finish line and got the win.

So we just got to get this thing figured
out because we need to go fast here in

the later rounds because there's still
some heavy hitters in.

We went everything but straight, but I
never lifted. I held it to the finish

line and we got the win.

Cars running real good this weekend.
I've tried some different stuff last

You know, we've got so many races in a
row. I've been some things I wanted to

test. So everything's going good so far.

First round here at Vegas, we drew

making pretty nice runs last night.

Every car here, barring something going
wrong, all the races are within a half a

car. I mean, anybody can win any given
day, any given path.

It's going to be a good race.

Going up against Daddy Dave.

We're 14th pair out, so I don't know if
it's bad or worse. The track's hot now,

but all those cars are going down. It
might be worse, but we'll see what

happens. Once the sun comes off the
track, it tightens up and gets better.

Right now, there's no clouds.

The track gets a little greasier, so
you've got to come back and make some

chassis adjustments.

We did that this morning, so we're
ready.

Yeah, forget all that data. It's
unbelievable.

Hey, I laughed fast. It didn't mean
nothing.

Because this track is nice and cool out
and tight. Yeah. Now it's sunny and

It's a winnable race if I get to tune up

We're going to step it up. The shade is
just getting on the racetrack, and that

instantly makes for a better racetrack.

I haven't got the race run yet. I'm
looking forward to it.

It'd be a huge deal if I can get a win
over Ryan.

We've got to give this thing everything
it's got to get around Ryan, so I'm sure

Chase will go in there, and he usually
doesn't tell me when he turns it all the

way up, but I'm sure he's going to go up
there and hit that up arrow as far as

it'll go.

There's a point when you let go of the
button and the car kind of settles in.

And right when the car settled in, boom,
everything went away. I had no power.

Watched Kyle Canyon drive out of my
life.

He was turned off at the beginning
before I was at the 330.

Turns out that the shaft on the blower
drive broke as soon as I let go of the

button. So my car made it approximately
20 foot and then gave up the ghost when

it comes to the supercharger. So after
this race was left, And I got to be the

lights out. Ty's got to do bad.

Some people in front of me got to do
bad. There's a lot of crazy stuff that's

got to happen. This is 100 % season six.
It's the most challenging season that I

have ever had in MBK.

This next pair right here, that is going
to be Nate Saylor going up against

Murder Nova.

Hey, Phantom.

Round two, we go up. We draw Nate
Saylor. We know what Nate's about. We

fast Nate is.

We raced Nate in the finals last night
of the grade eight.

But it's a big difference in the track
from last night to today.

It's definitely going to be a tuners

And we're going to see if his tuner is
better than me at this point.

I'm going to do the same thing I always
try to do. I'm going to try to leave on

him. I'm going to try to get to the
finish line first.

Usually he who leaves first is going to
get the win.

And we've been on the light and we've
been rolling all weekend.

He's running an MH7 ProLine Hemi. So are
we. He's running a ProCharger. So are

we. He's running a Mark Mickey
transmission.

So are we. Our setups are almost
identical.

It's going to come down to driver and
tuner to win this race.

hopefully, we can go up there and take

out. Tracks will cool down.

That's going to help the car go a little
faster.

We'll turn a little too long, change his
shift a little bit.

Hopefully, we can pull it off.

the right lane. That is going to be
Robin Roberts driving the Firebird.

He is going up against Axeman over in

Axeman is doing really well this year.
He's won a grade A. He always runs well.

My goal here is to ax the Axeman. We're
going to chop him down.

I'd love to come in this a little more
confident than I have over the last few

races, but we've been having trouble.

He's got a hot rod over there. Those

I mean, he claims that this one's
faster.

He's supposedly a self -proclaimed
better driver than Odom and everything

but... I think he's going to come into
this with something to prove.

So maybe going into this race, a third
time's a charm to shut him up once and

for all. I feel like we got a really
good handle on the car. Last night made

killer pass.

Today, first round, made a good lick.

He's got a fast car, but I think we got
a faster car. So time to go into the

second round and bust his ass and go on
to the third. He's wanting to bet $1

,000. I just blew him off because we've
done that before.

So some people do this for the racing
aspect of it. Some do it for money.

now, and we drew him. So I couldn't draw
him none while he was sucking. Now I've

got to draw him when he's at his best.

I've been having a few issues the last
two races, and he's been killing it,

going around and, you know, took over
that number one spot and kind of ran

with it. I think he was five or six
rounds over us coming into this deal.

This is the perfect opportunity for me
to, like I said, bust his ass right here

and go some rounds and catch up on some
of them points.

The motor just went lean, got a piston

And that's what happens, you know, when
you're out here trying to give your

make sure the shifter linkage was still

It has just completely lost the
transmission.

There's no converter pressure, so it
probably destroyed the pump inside the

transmission. It won't move.

Shifters, Lincoln's are all good.
Everything, no forwards, no backwards,

second, no third, no nothing.

Transmission. Like, moves, nothing.

sooner you trip that beam at the finish

line. And there is also another rule
with these extenders that say they have

be a certain distance above the surface
of the racetrack. It sounds like one of

Robin's crew members is accusing Nate of
having an extender that is too low to

the ground.
