Racing driver Chris
Froggatt competes

on the best circuits in Europein the Ferrari challenge.

Chris drives a 260,000pound Ferrari 488 Challenge.

With lowered suspension and
lightweight body panels,

it's designed for high-speedperformance on the track.

Chris, what's happening?You well?

Yeah, all good.
How are you?

Wow.

Banana yellow 488 race car.

Yeah.

I've been racing
all through Europe,

which has been incredible.

Wow.

This car's passport must havereally get a few stamps in it.

Yeah, yeah.

First round was
Valencia in Spain.

And then we've been toMonza, Budapest, Paul Ricard.

First race car?

It is, it is, and
I absolutely love it.

YIANNI: Have you alwaysbeen a passionate car guy?

CHRIS FROGGATT: Always,
from a young age.

Absolutely love cars--anything, like a speed freak.

Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Exactly.

YIANNI: Have you had any littlenear misses where you're like,

uh oh, uh oh, uh oh, uh oh?

Yeah, I've had a fewmoments with the car, yeah.

It does get a bit hairy.

YIANNI: It looksamazing, and the yellow--

why are we changing the color?

It looks great.

I loved it to start
with and it is nice,

but racing in the series,there are a few yellow cars.

And I really wanted
to have something

unique, a bit more aggressive.

You know, when you get into theback of someone's windscreen,

I kind of want to
feel like I'm really

putting pressure on, evenwith the presence of the car.

OK, so what color we getting?

CHRIS FROGGATT: Matte white.YIANNI: Matte white?

OK.

A matte finish on a carlooks really, really sleek.

And so when we're
on the track, I

would expect that toreally, really stand out.

Yeah, I think it
should stand out

with the matte gray sort ofracing livery we're going

to do on it as well, I think--

OK, when you say theracing livery, what, we're

going to put a stripe on it?

CHRIS FROGGATT:
Yeah, we're going

to have a stripe over
it to sort of accentuate

the design of the car a bit--

OK.

--just make a
few key bits pop.

Does everything
come off the car?

Because we haven't done
one of these before.

It's pretty modular.

It is, I think, easier than thenormal road car to take apart.

Bolt on, bolt off?

CHRIS FROGGATT:
Bolt on, bolt off.

This is the first race
car we're going to wrap.

I'm really excited.

488 Challenge--

it has a 3.9-liter
twin turbocharged V8,

one of the world's
greatest engines.

It delivers brutal
performance, and Chris

needs a look to match.

But how will
Yianni's team handle

their first race car wrap?

YIANNI: Guys, stop
looking at the car

and let's have a
conversation about it.

Ferrari 488 race car,
are we feeling it?

Mate, are you serious?

Look how excited he is.

I'm getting goose pimples.

This is just sick.

We know we're
wrapping it in white.

For me, we'll bring the carout and it'll bring it to life.

Mike, talk to me
about the strip.

This is going
to be so intense.

This is next level--

I mean, even down to
taking the wheels off.

They've got a special
tool for them.

I'm not going to be able
to jack this car up.

The rear bumper-- how am
I going to get that off

if I can't get the wheels off?

I've got to go behind
the wheel arches.

This is going to be serious.

I mean, even down to the rivetshere on the quick release

for the bonnet--

if I can't get these off,you're going to see yellow right

around the edges of it.

They're not going to
be able to wrap fully.

Mark, give me something, bro.

Give me another option
if he can't take it off.

Can you use matte black patch?

Matte black patch.

MIKE: Yeah.

YIANNI: So we'll still laythe whole white, and maybe

one like a pinstripe, maybe?

MARK: Yeah, yeah.
- Can that work?

MARK: Yeah.

You make a feature
of it, it'll work.

Mike, get stripping the car.

Boys, prepare
yourself to wrap it.

You're going to need to.

MIKE: Sweet.

NARRATOR: Racing's
a rough business,

and there's often contents onthe track, so damage is common.

The door is actually ripped.

NARRATOR: This aluminum
door is badly buckled.

It must be completelyrepaired before the wrappers

can work on it.

Wow.

NARRATOR: All racing carssit low to the ground,

but that poses a real
problem for the guys.

Their lift's designed
for road cars,

so to get vital access
to the front bumper,

they'll need to improvise.

YIANNI: Mike, Pav,
what's going on?

Uh, just getting these
wraps ready for the 488.

Obviously this
car is a race car.

It is on the floor,
so we need to try

and make it as
smooth as possible

getting up to the ramps.

They might have relocatedair lines, fuel lines--

we have to be really
careful with this one.

OK.

If we can't lift
it correctly, he's

going to take the front
bumper off trying to get

it onto the ramp initially.

Do you reckon it's
going to work?

Crossed fingers.

YIANNI: Mike, Pav?

Pav?

Pav?

Just shout out to him,
because he can't hear.

Now wait, hold on.

Let it go.

Here, get it to work.

MIKE: Turn the engine off!

BERT: Why?

I'm clear.

OK, this car is
too low for this.

We need something that'sgoing to be a longer descent.

I'm actually stressing
out at the minute.

Let me check down the
side of the building.

NARRATOR: They need to createmore of a shallow angle

so the Ferrari eases
its way onto the lift

and doesn't damage the bodywork.

And what have you found?

PAV: This is exactly
what we need.

MIKE: Ah, go on.

PAV: This is metal.

Oh, my god.

This is massive.
What am I thinking?

I don't know.

Your stupid ideas.

Stupid idea-- what are youcoming out with, a stupid

bit of wood over there, you--

Oh, hello.

Is this going to work?
- Hopefully, yeah.

BERT: [inaudible],,
that's going to work.

[engine starting]

Right now.

PAV: Wait, wait, wait,

Now the car is
on the ramp, they

can see the fragile bodyworkwould be damaged by the lift

if they tried to use it.

The ramp we've got ain'tgoing to work for this car.

NARRATOR: Without
raising the Ferrari,

the team aren't sure the
stripdown can continue.

- Doors are fine--
- Front bumper.

- --everything else is fine.- It's the front bumper.

It's just the
front bumper, yeah.

All right, so let's crossthat bridge when we get to it.

NARRATOR: So a
decision is made--

strip what they can and tacklethe front bumper tomorrow.

Yeah, good?

My god, this weighs nothing.

By the wheel.
That's right there.

There you go.[inaudible] they'll call.

PAV: My bum, we've got
this off, don't worry.

MIKE: What do you want, aBlue Peter badge for this?

I've already got
my Blue Peter badges.

NARRATOR: The workshop
closes up for the day,

but two people remain
in the building.

Yo, bro, I'm definitelythere, Billy, 100%, mate.

I fly out on the Thursdaynight, I land Friday morning,

and then I fly back
out on the Monday.

So I'm there for the
whole Grand Prix.

Wicked.

YIANNI: Yep.

Oh.

You got plus one?

YIANNI: Yep.

Nope.

Someone's got to
run the business.

You know, the week
after I'm actually

racing on the Yas Marina track.

You got a plus one?

No, not for that.

- Because you're terrible.- No plus one for that.

This is shocking.

YIANNI: But do you know,
I've driven Silverstone,

I've driven quite a fewtracks, but to drive the Yas

Marina track, and at night--

BERT: What you driving?

Lamborghini.

My actual car-- well,obviously not my actual car,

but the same car.

You've never done a track day?

I've done track days.

But I've never done Yas
Marina in a Lamborghini.

I'm a lucky guy.

BERT: Yeah.

[music playing]

NARRATOR: Much of
the Ferrari bodywork

has had a rough life so needscareful prep for the wrap.

We're having done thisrear bumper of the Ferrari.

It has to be smooth so thevinyl will stick on the panel.

The reason why we put the
bumper back on to wrap,

because it's so much
easier to lay it.

Because when it's
off it's really hard,

because it's flexible.

NARRATOR: The brothers
use the car for support

so the lighter materials don'tbend whilst being wrapped.

Laying the vinyl
is only the start.

Every edge has to betucked neatly out of sight.

So now we're trying to
hide every single yellow

in this car.

The wrap must be
100% perfect, yeah?

Because Yianni got
the eye of the tiger.

He sees every single
mistake on the car.

So that's why it's quite scarywhen he's checking the car.

NARRATOR: The wrap
is moving ahead,

but the team's first race caris proving difficult. They're

behind schedule
and the car needs

to be ready in just a few days.

Normally a bump
like this wouldn't get

yourself in half an hour max.

Add another two
hours to that now.

NARRATOR: If he can
get it off, Pav will

be in the wrappers' good books.

Stripping parts
makes it much easier

to hide vinyl around the edges.

PAV: With Yianni, he's toldus we've got a deadline.

Time's ticking on
this, and if we

don't get the bumper offtoday then obviously we're

going to be in big trouble.

Almost.

Ridiculous.

I think I should be able to getmy spanner in there now, which

is still very, very tight.

God.

Your mom, I just droppedthe bead in there as well.

Now we've got to definitelytake this bumper off now.

Now I have a tool in the bumper.

[growls]

YIANNI: Pav is losing
his mind trying

to get the front bumper off.

This is turning into
a nightmare of a job.

NARRATOR: Race car
driver Chris Froggatt

has brought his Ferrari 488Challenge into the workshop.

It's the team's first race car.

This is a next level.

NARRATOR: And it's beenproblematic from the off.

PAV: Wait, wait, wait,
wait, wait, wait, wait.

Stop, stop!

NARRATOR: The strip has
come crashing to a halt.

Your mom, I just droppedthe bead in there as well.

Now we've got to definitelytake this bumper off now.

NARRATOR: The car should
be fully stripped,

but the front bumperremains firmly bolted on.

Now the aim is to try
to separate the bumper

from the rest of the car.

Try and loosen the threescrews that are sitting there,

the top half and theunderneath, and hopefully bumper

will come off for the guys.

Now I just feel likecutting a big hole in this,

I'm not going to lie to you.

I can't get to the f-f-[muted]-ing-ing
bolt. I can't do it.

It's impossible.

NARRATOR: They've
got to raise the car

so Pav can get better access.

But since the workshop
lift isn't an option,

the guys need a workaround.

This might get Mike
to jack this up first.

NARRATOR: The 488
has a jacking point,

and it should be easy to raise.

But the lightweight
body is expensive

and if the car flexes,
it could prove costly.

All right, ready?

PAV: Just go as much as you can.

Go on, brother, it's working.

It is, it's working, it'sworking, it's working.

Go on-- are you still going?

Stop.
I can hear that.

Leave it right there.

Mate, that's so much better.

So now that we've jackedup the middle of the car,

our life is so much easier.

We're getting the
pieces out that we need,

as you can see-- bang.

[music playing]

Oh, my god.
That worked.

Yes!

Oh.

Machine's up.

God, you've killed me.

YIANNI: Pav, what are
you on chatting about?

Look what I've done.
YIANNI: Oh, my god.

You've finally got it off!

Oh, don't tell
me about it, man.

It's off now.

OK, well done.

Wrap it.

NARRATOR: The team
are going to have

to push themselves tomorrowif they want to get

Chris's car ready for the race.

[music playing]

A wrap could last up to fiveyears, but wear and tear

mean sometimes the vinyl canlift away from the panels.

To help reduce the
risk of this happening,

the brothers wrap satin blackvinyl around some of the edges.

Once superheated, this
extra layer of vinyl

acts as an additional
adhesive helping

to keep the wrap in place.

When it comes tobodywork, Pav is the man--

and the Ferrari is inneed of some serious TLC.

PAV: Running out of timewith this Ferrari and Bert

wants me to fix this door, sowe're going to just cut out

a little bit of the
metal here, just

so obviously when
the door opens it

doesn't rub against the wing.

Put a little bit of filler, sandit down, then it'll be wrapped

and then that's it.

Let's get the hammer out, mate.

NARRATOR: Pav's first job is toget the basic door shape back.

He needs all his skillhere, as any further damage

to the 260,000 pound car
will not go down well.

Aluminum filler is
used in the gaps,

and sanding back creates theexact line and a seamless fix.

Obviously we're
going to have to do

a few little minor repairs.

Obviously with the vinyl, whenyou do lay down on a panel

you can hide certain
imperfections.

What I've done is obviouslyjust a quick repair--

I've repaired the crack,
added some filler.

We're going to sand down upto here, to the bottom lip,

and then all of this sectionwill be ready to wrap.

NARRATOR: This is one ofthe most challenging cars

the team has ever worked on.

There's too much work
and too little time,

but it must be ready
for Chris's race.

YIANNI: We are so
up against it, I've

got the team coming in at 5AM to get this car complete.

To be fair.

I actually don't
want them to go home.

I don't even know if 5 AMis early enough for them

to get this car finished.

[music playing]

NARRATOR: Chris is dueto collect his car today,

but the job list doesn't
seem to be going down

and huge pieces are
yet to be finished.

How we getting on, boys?

I'm really, really feeling this.

I'm not going to lie.

Yeah, I know.

Well, I'm on the aerial.

We're just waiting
for Nico and Mark

to finish off that front bumper.

The majority is
pretty much done.

It's just that
front bumper, mate.

So until we get that done--

Let me go check
on Nico and Mark.

You lot have been onthis bumper a long time--

two hours to take off,
two hours to put on,

and eight hours for
you lot to wrap it.

That's more than a day.

My god, I'm actually
freaking out.

NARRATOR: The front
of the car needs

to be fitted quickly
so Vas can add

a racing stripe to the bonnet.

YIANNI: How are you
looking on your side?

MARK: So-so.

NARRATOR: No detail escapesYianni's watchful eye,

and he's spotted a problem.

Get Nico to deal
with that quickly.

Nico?
Come here, brother.

Sorry, man, just trying toget this as best we can.

Do your magic, brother.

So the bumper is
touching the wing.

And previously where
it was touching,

it didn't make that much of adifference because it's paint.

But when it's vinyl, itpushes the vinyl if it looks

like the vinyl is lifting.

So Nico is now trying
to push the vinyl

back down while these guysare trying to fit the bumper.

PAV: Is the bonnet
finished, as well?

NICO: Throw them vents on.

PAV: That's what I was
going to go and do.

She's not treated us well.

It's been an absolutenightmare from start to finish,

and Chris is an hour away.

We're still-- we're
not even near.

NARRATOR: The vinyl isfixed, the bumper fitted,

and the bonnet is next, allowingVas to finally lay his stripe.

Running a stripe front
to back usually is easy.

What Vasily is doing,
it has to be straight.

So he's got to get it
right the first time.

Because if he doesn't, thatwould delay us by another hour.

I literally have to juststay here now and just watch

and hope and rely on my guys.

[music playing]

NARRATOR: The finish
line is in sight,

but they aren't quite done.

And now Chris has turned up.

Chris.

CHRIS FROGGATT: Hey,
Yan, how are you?

Um, I don't know if I'mpleased to see you or not.

It's been that tough?

This car has been the biggestnightmare we've ever had--

I love the thicker

by the thinner outer edge.

And also that chrome justsets it off on top, I think.

Everyone had to pulltogether, from the wrappers

to the strippers and fitters,
even down to the juniors

as they're cleaning the
car as it's coming out.

I think you got this
