the sheen effect,

but with the-- the Wow factor.

Is that staying in black, or are
you going to do that in gold,

his car is being wrapped

but has no idea about
the elaborate design

Gary is spending thousands on.

Yianni will deliver
this amazing surprise

in person, if his team can get
the job done in just three days.

it's not normal, this vinyl.

They made it, like,
three layers of vinyl.

Second one is the
shape of the car.

want is they want a stripe,

when the wrap is on this car,

it is 100% perfect.

NARRATOR: The complex job begins
in bay 1, where the scissor

lift gives Mike better access.

[upbeat music]

This is a rare car,
and he's feeling

his way with the strip down.

So I've just loosened
the McLaren rear bumper,

but there's still
something actually holding

it quite firmly in place.

So I've got to do
a bit of digging

and find out where there's a
hidden screw because there's

always a hidden screw.

[upbeat music]

They've obviously can't get a
machine to put the screws where

they want them, so this is why
they've had to build it by hand,

and it's just a nightmare.

And I bet the guy didn't have
a set of them fingers you got.

Yeah, all right, they're
a bit sausagey, but,

still, yours ain't
that much better.

Mine are feminine, bro.

MIKE: No, femininely soft.

[laughs] I moisturize
everywhere, every day.

NARRATOR: The satin gold vinyl
is the ultimate wrap challenge.

It's one of the most expensive
vinyl options on the market,

and it's also notoriously
difficult to work with.

NARRATOR: Downstairs, the wrap
is moving on to the next level.

The MP4 is moved to
the quiet back bay

so the wrappers can
focus on the challenge

of the large, curved panels.

The rear quarter is
their first big test.

The large, thick sheets
prove hard to handle.

Their attention to
detail must be on point.

If they overstretch
the vinyl and it mists,

then they'll have to tear the
panel down and begin again.

We made it.

Well-- [whistles]

NARRATOR: The rear quarter is a
success, but there's no let up.

They move on to the
toughest part of the wrap--

the doors.

[suspenseful music]

Despite their skill
and focus, it seems

this door panel has a problem.

Do we think it's
still going to work?

Got some little
stretch mark in here,

and, you know, it's like,
even this chrome is hard,

everything's got to be
right for the customer,

so everyone's going to be happy.

Just do it again?

Yeah.

I hate doing things again.

NARRATOR: The vinyl has
distorted and lost its sheen.

There's nothing they
can do to save it.

Rewrapping the door is costly,
time-consuming, and frustrating.

[suspenseful music]

This supercar has been
left on trickle charge,

as the battery can drain
during a long wrap.

Pav routinely checks
in to make sure it's

still fully powered up.

Kieran, mate?
KIERAN: Yeah.

Do me a favor.
Go to start it, please.

All right.

[engine whirs]

- Dead?
- Yeah.

Completely dead.

Right.

So, yeah, we do have an issue.

1 volt-- terrible

NARRATOR: This is unusual.

The boss needs to know.

PAV: Yian.

All right, Pav?

Yes and no.

We've got a bit of a
problem with the McLaren.

What?

Battery-- [whistles]

Is it totally and
utterly finished?

I put my meter on
it, and the voltage

just dropped completely down.

So it's not holding
any charge at all.

PAV: Nothing, zilch.

No lights are coming on.

It's completely flat.

YIANNI: All right, let
me get Bert to order

one and inform the customer.
Yeah?

Let me know, yeah?

YIANNI: All right, cheers, Pav.

Cheers, bro.

[ominous music]

BERT: I've got a McLaren
MP4-12C that's in desperate need

of a new battery.

And, yeah, so I just needed to
get pricing and availability.

NARRATOR: Yianni knows supercars
have expensive parts prices.

He's keen to know what
Bert's discovered.

BERT: 2,708 pounds and 60 pence.

For a battery?

BERT: Yes.

And then it has to go to McLaren
to be programmed and fitted.

Wow.

It gets better.

They need three or four
days to get the bits in.

NARRATOR: Space taken
up by a dead car

can cost Yianni thousands.

That's a big problem, mate.

That's a massive problem.

NARRATOR: The garage
is full, and they

can't afford to be down a bay.

We're screwed.

[dramatic music]

NARRATOR: With the
stakes high, Pav

decides to try one more option.

Bypassing the
trickle charger, he

uses the heavy-duty power pack.

PAV: Now we're going to
bring the big boy in.

This is our main
battery charger.

I'm going to connect
on to this battery.

Hopefully it holds the charge.

I'm going to let the charger
charge it up, come back to it

in maybe an hour,
hour and a half,

and see what the
reading is then.

NARRATOR: This Twin-turbo
V8 has a top speed

of 207 miles per hour.

With innovative use of aluminum,
it weighs in at just 200 kilos.

[suspenseful music]

An hour has passed, and Pav
returns to see if the battery

has taken any charge.

Let's see what
we've got here now.

[engine whirs]

NARRATOR: It sounds dead.

But Pav gives it one last go.

[engine whirs]

[engine revs]

All right.

NARRATOR: Pav puts
the battery under load

by driving it back and forth to
test how reliable it really is.

It seems good, but there's
only one way to be sure.

What I want to
do now is just get

my meter back on the battery.

So I just want to double-check
to make sure that she's

still holding the 13.2 volts.

And, yeah, she's good,
which is really good.

So I'm happy about that.

[upbeat music]

We won on this one.

NARRATOR: Clearly, the trickle
charger was the weak link

and needs to be replaced.

It's a massive win for the
team and the client's wallet.

Back on the wrap, Nicco,
and Mark are winning, too.

They're into a rhythm, and the
supercar is fast going gold.

Yeah, I'm happy with that.

I'm happy, too.

Happy days.

Yeah, let's go.

NARRATOR: Deadline day.

With the finishing
line approaching,

the supercar has been
moved to the front bay.

So like--

All right, so,
if anything, I'm

going to get this washer
first, and all the rest

I can do from underneath.

Yeah, that's the one.
MIKE: That's the one.

PAV: Fold that in.

Let's turn back.

I knew it wasn't sitting down.

It just didn't feel right.
- Yeah.

No, you've got to get
this on the money.

But we're good here.

NARRATOR: Mike and
Pav push the pace.

And upstairs in the mezzanine,
Amelia is prepping the stripe.

He wants it the same
size as a UK number plate.

The white is going
to be laid first,

and then the red and the
blue are going to go on top.

NARRATOR: The final
hurdle on this golden car

is to lay the one-off stripe.

[upbeat music]

OK, let's do this.

NARRATOR: The tri-color
stripe is a nod to Daley's

famous Olympic GB vest.

NICCO: We're going to
lay the white stripe.

You ready?
- Ready.

Come on.

Let's go.

NARRATOR: Nicco and Mark have
to make sure the stripe is

perfectly centered on the car.

[upbeat music]

With the clock
ticking down, they

work fast and accurately to
make Yianni's delivery deadline.

[upbeat music]

With the stripe nailed,
they add the final touch.

[upbeat music]

NICCO: I'm happy with that.

NARRATOR: The job has
taken three full days,

and Yianni must now make
sure the finish is perfect

and that there is no misting
on any of the panels.

The boys have done an amazing
job, so I'm really happy.

And I get to drive it now and
meet the legend that is Daley
