THEY'D THINK WE'D LOST OUR MINDS.

[ CHUCKLES ]

WELL DONE!

WELL DONE. ALL OF YOU.

I NEVER THOUGHT I'D LIVE TO SEE THIS DAY --

PEACE ON THE ISLAND OF BERK.

THIS WILL SURELY BE THE GREATEST HOLIDAY WE'VE EVER SEEN.

[ ROARS ]

WHAT'S THE MATTER? WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!

NO, NO, NO, NO!

DON'T LEAVE, STORMFLY!

[ SIGHS ] [ DRAGONS ROARING ]

[ INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS ]

WHERE'D THEY GO? SNOGLETOG IS RUINED.

Stoick: IT'S NOT RUINED!

WE'RE VIKINGS.

WE'VE BEEN PERFECTLY HAPPY

CELEBRATING WITHOUT DRAGONS FOR GENERATIONS,

AND THERE'S NO REASON WE CAN'T DO IT AGAIN.

NOW, WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY'VE GONE OFF TO,

BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE FAITH THAT THEY'LL BE BACK AGAIN SOON.

AM I RIGHT? YOU'RE RIGHT!

WE ARE VIKINGS!

WE'RE TOUGH! [ BELLS JINGLE ]

MOST OF THE TIME.

LET'S SING SOME SNOGLETOG SONGS.

THAT WAS DEPRESSING. I KNOW.

I WAS LOOKING FORWARD

TO SPENDING THE HOLIDAY WITH STORMFLY.

[ WHISTLING ]

WHAT ARE YOU SO HAPPY ABOUT?

DON'T YOU MISS MEATLUG?

ME?

OH, YEAH. [ CLEARS THROAT ]

[ SOBS ] I MISS HIM SO MUCH.

[ SNIFFLES ]

WELL, GOOD NIGHT.

[ GASPS ] I'VE GOT AN IDEA.

LET'S COME UP WITH A BUNCH OF NEW HOLIDAY TRADITIONS.

YOU KNOW, TO BURY THE SADNESS.

[ ALL SIGH ]

ACTUALLY, ASTRID MIGHT BE ON TO SOMETHING.

EASY FOR YOU TO SAY.

YOUR DRAGON CAN'T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT YOU.

[ GRUNTS ]

MUST BE NICE.

[ SIGHS ] Astrid: YAK NOG!

GET YOUR YAK NOG!

COME ON! GET A FROTHY, DELICIOUS CUP OF CHEER!

HEY, YOU GUYS, TRY THIS TASTY, NEW BEVERAGE I MADE

FOR THE HOLIDAY.

UGH! WHAT'S THAT SMELL? IS THAT YOU?

IT'S YAK NOG!

[ RETCHES, COUGHS ]

UGH! IF I DRINK THAT, I'M GONNA YAK NOG ALL OVER THE PLACE.

MAYBE YOU'D RATHER TASTE A PUNCH IN THE FACE?

[ SNIFFS ] UGH!

ASTRID, IT SOUNDS DELIGHTFUL.

I'D LOVE A MUG.

[ CHOKES ]

UGH! YOU CAN REALLY TASTE THE YAK.

MMM! YUM! WHAT IS THAT?

OH! YOU WANT TO TRY SOME?

IT'S MY NEW TRADITIONAL DRINK.

OH, YOU KNOW, UM...

I HAVE SUDDENLY AND, UH, INEXPLICABLY CHANGED MY MIND.

WELL, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING.

I BET HICCUP WILL LOVE THIS.

ARE YOU CRYING?

HICCUP?

YEAH! I'M OVER HERE, ASTRID.

COMING.

HERE. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, FROM ME TO YOU.

THANK YOU, MILADY. WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?

OKAY, YOU'RE GONNA THINK I'M CRAZY,

BUT I JUST COULDN'T STOP THINKING

ABOUT WHAT TUFFNUT SAID LAST NIGHT.

TOOTHLESS CAN'T COME AND GO LIKE THE OTHER DRAGONS,

AND THAT'S JUST NOT FAIR.

I WAS UP ALL NIGHT,

AND I THINK I FOUND A WAY TO FIX THAT.

[ CHOKES ] NO WAY!

YOU BUILT HIM A NEW TAIL?

SO HE'S GONNA BE ABLE TO FLY WITHOUT YOU.

MM-HMM.

WOW. WHAT A GREAT GIFT.

[ CHUCKLES ]

WHAT IF HE NEVER COMES BACK?

MM. WHAT AM I SAYING? OF COURSE HE WILL.

TOOTHLESS, COME ON, BUD.

LET ME GET THIS ON YOU. YEAH.

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS.

[ GRUNTS ] OKAY.

[ ROARS ]

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! TOOTHLESS, STOP!

PLEASE WAIT! TOOTHLESS, PLEASE!

[ GRUNTS ]

AH, THERE YOU GO.

SEE? GOT IT?

[ SNIFFING ]

TOOTHLESS -- WHOA!

[ TOOTHLESS ROARS ]

[ SIGHS ]

[ WOOD CREAKS ]

[ CLATTER ]

[ THUDDING ]

TOOTHLESS!

I KNEW YOU'D COME BA--

OHH! UNH!

[ HAMMER POUNDS ] MORNING, SON!

ODIN NEEDS A PLACE TO PUT YOUR GOODIES.

YEAH, RIGHT, I'LL, UH...GET ON THAT.

GREAT.

HOLD ON.

HOLD ON. ALL RIGHT, COME ON.

WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND? OUT WITH IT.

WELL, IT'S BEEN THREE DAYS, DAD.

I --

I JUST THOUGHT TOOTHLESS WOULD BE BACK BY NOW.

OH, I'M SURE HE'S WITH THE OTHER DRAGONS.

YEAH? I WISH I COULD BE THAT SURE.

[ SIGHS ]

LISTEN, I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE

TO MISS SOMEONE YOU LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR.

BUT WHAT DO WE DO WHEN THEY CAN'T BE HERE FOR THE HOLIDAY?

WE CELEBRATE THEM.

AND I IMAGINE THAT'S EXACTLY

WHAT TOOTHLESS WOULD WANT YOU TO DO.

RIGHT?

YOU'RE RIGHT.

GOOD! UNH!

NOW, GO GET THAT HELMET.

WE'VE HAD ENOUGH DISAPPOINTMENT AROUND HERE.

[ SIGHS ]

HMM.

[ INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS ]

UGH! UGH!

OH, FISHLEGS, YOU HUNGRY?

THERE'S ENOUGH FISH THERE TO FEED A DRAGON.

[ LAUGHING ]

OH! A DRAGON, THAT'S...

[ PANTING ]

[ ROARS ] AAH!

MEATLUG?

OH! HICCUP?

WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!

I HAVE NO IDEA!

MEATLUG!

WHAT ABOUT PRESENTS?!

HEY!

I CAN'T BELIEVE HIM.

YOU CAN'T BELIEVE HIM?!

YOU KIDNAPPED YOUR DRAGON!

WELL, THAT MAKES IT SOUND SO MEAN.

HEY, GUYS...

HE FLEW AWAY THE SECOND HE WAS UNLEASHED.

I'M 72% SURE HE WANTED TO STAY.

GUYS!

WHOA-HO-HO-HO.

MEATLUG BARFED UP A PILE OF ROCKS.

YOU'RE SUCH AN IDIOT. THOSE AREN'T ROCKS.

YOUR DRAGON LAID EGGS. HEY, WAIT.

I BET THAT'S WHY THE DRAGONS LEFT --

TO LAY THEIR EGGS.

BUT BOY DRAGONS DON'T LAY EGGS.

YEAH. YOUR BOY DRAGON IS A GIRL DRAGON.

OKAY!

THAT ACTUALLY EXPLAINS A FEW THINGS.

HEY! EVERYONE'S MISSING THEIR DRAGONS, RIGHT?

OH, HERE IT COMES.

I'VE GOT AN IDEA.

IT'LL BE ANOTHER NEW SNOGLETOG TRADITION.

OH, THIS IS GONNA BE SO GOOD.

I'M GONNA GO THIS WAY. YEAH.

[ CHUCKLES ]

[ GIGGLES ]

WHOA!

MEATLUG, WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?

THE EGGS EXPLODE.

TOOTHLESS!

AH, TOOTHLESS, WHERE ARE YOU?

[ COOING ]

HOOKFANG!

[ CHUFFS ]

STORMFLY.

OH!

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM TO SEE YOU GUYS.

[ CHUFFS ]

AND YOU HAVE BABIES?

AWW.

LOOK AT YOU GUYS, ALL HAPPY TOGETHER.

[ LAUGHS ]

WHO KNEW YOU WERE LEAVING

TO CELEBRATE YOUR OWN SORT OF HOLIDAY?

I SHOULD GET BACK TO MY HOLIDAY.

[ CHUFFS ]

SO, WHAT DO YOU SAY THERE, HOOKFANG?

THINK YOU COULD GIVE ME A RIDE BACK HOME?

I'LL SEE YOU ALL BACK ON BERK

WHEN YOU'RE GOOD AND READY, OKAY, GANG?

[ SCREECHES ]

[ CHATTERING ]

[ INDISTINCT CONVERSATIONS ]

OH, GOBBER, THIS IS A DISASTER.

THE VILLAGE IS DESTROYED,

THE DRAGONS HAVE GONE AND LEFT US.

LET'S FACE IT.

[ CHEERING ]

THIS IS THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER!

OOH! HOW'S A BABY?!

WHOA! [ LAUGHS ]

[ LAUGHS ] OH, YEAH.

AH! OH!

HICCUP, I KNOW THIS MUST BE REALLY HARD FOR YOU,

SEEING EVERYONE WITH THEIR DRAGONS.

BUT YOU REALLY DID A WONDERFUL THING.

THANK YOU.

ASTRID, WHERE DID TOOTHLESS GO?

[ DOOR OPENS ] I DON'T KNOW.

WOW.

MAN, WOULDN'T WANT TO BE YOU RIGHT NOW.

I MEAN, YOU BROUGHT BACK EVERYONE'S DRAGON EXCEPT YOURS.

YEAH, YOU KNOW, THIS IS NOT HELPING AT ALL.

UNH!

TOOTHLESS! HEY, BUD!

[ CHUFFING ]

[ LAUGHS ]

STOICK.

[ GRUNTS ]

BAD DRAGON! VERY BAD DRAGON!

YOU SCARED ME TO DEATH.

[ GRUNTS ]

HEY! YOU FOUND MY HELMET!

THAT'S WHERE YOU'VE BEEN?

BUDDY, THANK YOU.

YOU ARE AMAZING.

[ BOTH LAUGH ] WHOO!

HAPPY SNOGLETOG!

[ CHEERING ]

[ RUMBLING, WOOD CREAKING ]

[ TOOTHLESS ROARS ]

I'M COMING, TOOTHLESS!

ALL RIGHT, BUD, COME ON DOWN. I WAS JUST...

TOOTHLESS, WHAT'D YOU PULL THIS OUT FOR?

YOU DON'T NEED THIS ANYMORE.

COME ON, LET'S GET GOING.

[ GRUMBLES ]

WOULD YOU QUIT FOOLING AROUND? YOU HAVE YOUR NEW TAIL NOW.

TOOTHLESS.

TOOTHLESS, STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

Hiccup: WINTER IN BERK LASTS MOST OF THE YEAR.

IT HANGS ON WITH BOTH HANDS AND WON'T LET GO.

AND THE ONLY REAL COMFORTS AGAINST THE COLD

ARE THOSE YOU KEEP CLOSE TO YOUR HEART.

OKAY, BUD, YOU READY?

YEEHAW!

TURNS OUT THAT WAS THE BEST SNOGLETOG EVER.

THAT YEAR, I GAVE MY BEST FRIEND A PRETTY GREAT GIFT.

WHOO-HOO!

[ ROARS ]

HE GAVE ME A BETTER ONE.

HE GAVE ME A BETTER ONE.

[Hiccup] Remember what life used to be like on Berk?

- Dragons. - [roaring]

[Hiccup] You had to be crazy to live here.

But we're Vikings. Crazy is what we do best.

And I guess I had enough crazy in me to do something no Viking

had ever done before.

I trained a dragon.

Life on Berk hasn't been the same since.

And now, my friends and I have the greatest job in the world.

We're dragon trainers.

Living with dragons, it ain't easy.

It brings a new adventure every day. And there's so much to learn.

Because if you wanna train dragons, you have to know dragons.

So, if you hurry, you can join us in the Great Hall

where we're just about to start a new class.

- [Astrid] So that's a Gronckle. - [Hiccup] Correct.

And you cannot tell its head from its tail.

Right, right!

Gronckles do not like to be scratched under their chins.

- I found that out the hard way. - OK.

No scratching under chin. Got it.

What...? Toothless, what's up, bud?

- Oh, hey. - Whoa! A new dragon trainer!

A new recruit. Want to train dragons, do you?

- Looks eager enough. - This one's got potential.

Aye, we'll see about that. Here it is.

Book of Dragons. Between these two covers are the most incredible creatures

you'd ever hope to see.

Some you know, but there are some you've never seen before.

And you won't last a day out there if you don't learn the facts in here.

[Hiccup] Gobber, you can't scare us. We've already trained dragons.

[Gobber] This book contains more than just training.

It's the key to unlocking a new world of dragons.

And I don't suppose you know who started it all...

- [grunts] Oh! - ...do you?

[Astrid] I thought it had something to do with Bork the Bold.

- Oh. - [Gobber] Well-spotted, lass.

But before he was bold, he was known as Bork the Very, Very Unfortunate.

- [Hiccup] That's an... odd nickname. - [Gobber] Aye, but apt.

It seemed that everything Bork touched went wrong.

[grunting] Oy!

- [zaps] - Whoo-hoo!

[Gobber] Bork was my great-great-great-grandfather.

- But he started out as a shepherd. - [bleating]

But his flock got very small.

That fact is, Bork and dragons didn't seem to mix.

- [dragon howling] - [grunting, muttering]

- So he gave blacksmithing a try... - Ouch!

...and had a go at farming.

But he settled for the life of a fisherman.

Yum. [whimpers]

- [muttering] - [meows]

[sighs]

[grunts]

[Gobber] And he used to say, "If you see a dragon, kill on sight."

You kids taught us that we could train a dragon.

But it was Bork who had the idea to classify them.

And what does Bork say is the first class of dragons?

[Hiccup] Oh, that's easy. Stoker class.

Now according to the book, these hot-headed dragons

are furious fire-breathers.

And when training a Terror, start with a very shiny object.

[Astrid] Oh, he's cute.

- [barking] - [Gobber] Cute?! Maybe on his own.

But Bork says if you get these little Terrors in a group,

it's no picnic.

You see, Terrors are social creatures.

They love to hunt in packs.

Now, what about this brute?

- [man grunting] - The Monstrous Nightmare.

You can see how this foul beast got his name.

Nary a Viking has tamed this fierce creature.

[squealing]

But you know what Bork used to say?

"You fall down, you get right back on the dragon."

[Astrid] I bet he didn't know that the Nightmare can set itself on fire.

And if there's one thing you don't want, it's an angry Nightmare.

That's why we tried a more gentle approach.

[Hiccup] Instead of wrestling a Monstrous Nightmare,

just give him a little respect. A gentle hand on his snout.

[Gobber] Looks like you kids have made some breakthroughs.

All right, Fishlegs. Why don't you tell us about your dragon?

[Fishlegs] Meatlug's my Gronckle,

and Gronckles are tough, rock-eating, Boulder class dragons.

[Astrid] But how do you train a Gronckle?

[Hiccup] A Gronckle won't stay mad at you

if you just feed him a little dragonnip.

[Fishlegs] Yeah, and like all dragons,

Gronckles are rumored to have five stages of maturity.

The first stage is the egg.

Then the tiny teeth. The short wing.

The broad wing. And the last stage is the titan wing,

which is extremely rare.

[Gobber] Rare, but a sight to behold.

Let's look at another from the Boulder class.

The Whispering Death.

Just saying its name gives you the shivers. [shivers]

Bork says the Whispering Death knows only one thing: killing!

He burrows through the dirt and rock, attacking from below.

- [woman screaming] - [man grunting]

[man screaming]

[roaring]

[Fishlegs] Their rotating teeth can bore through anything.

And these Boulder class baddies are so wicked,

they can breathe rings of fire!

But even though these dragons have a fearsome reputation,

it turns out they just love to be brushed.

[Hiccup] With patience, any dragon can be trained.

Even this next batch: Fear class.

These dragons are silent, they're sneaky,

they turn up when you least expect them.

[Astrid] If Fear class dragons are so sneaky, how did Bork find one?

[Gobber] He did better than find one. He found the lair of a Zippleback.

- [Fishlegs] Whoa. - [Gobber] Well, actually, it wasn't he who found it.

It was his trusted sheep Willy.

And what do you know of a Zippleback?

[Hiccup] Got two heads.

Twice the danger. One head releases gas...

...the other ignites it.

[Astrid] And if you feed both heads at once,

they become one agreeable dragon.

[Fishlegs] That's right. If you want to befriend a dragon,

it's a good idea to start by feeding it.

And once they're fed, make sure you play with them.

[Gobber] You kids are full of good tips.

But what happens when you go from two heads to four?

It's the Venus flytrap of dragons,

the devious Snaptrapper! [chuckles]

[Astrid] The book says that this wild beast has enticed many a Viking

into its deadly trap, with its sweet smell of chocolate.

[Fishlegs] And like all dragons, the Snaptrapper sheds its scales.

- [Astrid] And its claws. - [screeching]

But they all grow back.

With all those heads, Bork must have had four times the trouble.

[Gobber] Aye, that's a fact.

Until one day, Bork made an interesting discovery.

Huh?

- [roaring] - [whimpering]

[Gobber] Snaptrappers love rain.

And they can't wait to play in the mud.

[Fishlegs] Well, the Snaptrapper is incredible,

but let's see what secrets we uncover with the next class of dragons.

[Astrid] The Sharp class.

These dragons have a generous dose of vanity,

and spend a lot of time preening. My personal favorite is

the Deadly Nadder.

Bork says that Nadders have the hottest fire in the dragon world.

We found the best way to train her was to approach her carefully,

slowly moving around back toward her tail.

[Gobber] Her tail? You've gone mad.

It's full of poisonous spikes that can launch at will.

[whimpering]

[Astrid] Yes, but if you move slowly enough,

and you show her you're not a threat,

she'll let you smooth her tail spikes down.

[Hiccup] There's more to the Sharp class than just Nadders.

Let's look at what Bork wrote about the Timberjack.

[Gobber] This dragon attacks out of the sky with razor-sharp wings...

[roaring]

...and can slice through a forest of trees like a giant guillotine.

Hmm?

Ow-ee.

[Hiccup] But those long wings of the Timberjack make it impossible for him

to even scratch his back.

[Fishlegs] Yep, and if you scratch his itch,

he's your friend forever.

[Gobber] Another brilliant survival tip.

A perfect opportunity to teach our new trainer about this class of dragons.

The Tidal class.

These beasts live in the watery deep and they can out-swim the fastest ship.

[Fishlegs] Did Bork even know that the sea was full of dragons?

[Gobber] Not at first.

But he soon found out that the open sea was no easier,

because if there's one thing that sea dragons like to eat more than a fish...

...it's a whole boatload of fish.

[grunting, whimpering]

[Gobber] And after that first sighting, Bork called it a Scauldron.

As we now know, that sea dragon fills itself up with water,

then heats it in its giant cauldron-like stomach.

One blast from that hot water, and you're finished.

[Hiccup] We found out something surprising about Scauldrons.

If you wanna train them, douse yourself with water.

Turns out they like anything that reminds them of home.

[laughs nervously] Stop it! Stop!

[Gobber] Look at what also lurks in the deep. It's the mighty Thunderdrum.

This beast moves through the water like a tornado,

and is capable of delivering a sonic blast of pure dragon power.

- The story goes that Bork got lost ice fishing, - [shivering]

and he stumbled across a Thunderdrum nest.

That must have been quite a rude awakening,

because when a Thunderdrum hatches from its shell,

it makes a sound so loud it rattles the sky!

[howls, grunts]

[muffled whistling]

[Gobber] Now, here's a class that might stump you.

[Fishlegs] What symbol is that?

[Gobber] It's a symbol for the Mystery class.

We don't really know how these guys work.

That's why they're a mystery.

Is it a tree? Is it a rock?

No, it's the Changewing.

This strange dragon can disappear into any environment.

[Hiccup] Bork noticed that Changewings are curious creatures.

And they display mimicking behavior.

Whatever they see, they love to copy.

[Gobber] Changewings are known for their acid breath

and their ability to hypnotize.

But finding one takes a keen eye.

[Astrid] Does being able to change color mean their skin is softer?

[Gobber] For some, yes. And it makes them vulnerable to attack,

so these dragons protect themselves in a strange way.

Like this beauty:

The BoneKnapper.

This odd creature collects the bones of dead dragons

and makes itself an unusual coat of armor.

[chuckles]

[dragon snarling]

[roars]

[Gobber] The best way to deal with this brutal bag of bones is to subdue it

- with force and fear and firepower! - [Fishlegs] Sure, right.

- That's what you did, Gobber. - [Gobber] All right, all right.

You give a BoneKnapper whatever it's looking for and it's just like

an overgrown puppy dog. Why don't we go on to the next class of dragons?

[Fishlegs] Finally, Strike class.

[Hiccup] Every dragon in this class is characterized by blazing speed,

vice-like jaw strength and extreme intelligence.

I give you the Skrill.

This elusive creature is highly secretive,

and is known to ride lightning bolts.

Found only during electrical storms, it can shoot bursts of white fire.

If you get too close to a Skrill, your hair will stand on end.

[bleating]

Let's see what else is in the book.

The Night Fury.

Speed, unknown. Size, unknown.

[Gobber] I guess this book really does need updating.

[Hiccup] The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself.

[Gobber] So, Hiccup, how did you train a Night Fury?

[screeching, roaring]

[Hiccup] First I had to get his attention.

Then I needed to earn his trust.

Everyone wonders what it's like to fly.

And now, thanks to Toothless, we know.

These islands are full of dragons.

But I've never seen another Night Fury.

I have so many questions about him.

But I do know one thing.

Toothless didn't just become my friend.

He became the friend who gave me my purpose.

[Gobber] He's quite the dragon, I'll grant you that.

So, now you see. Everything we know about dragons

started with one very unfortunate Viking,

who had a hunger to learn more.

Ha ha!

[Gobber] Over the years, curious Vikings like yourselves

have updated the pages, and in time,

Bork of Dragons became Book of Dragons.

It's now a very big part of our Viking heritage.

So big, that Bork the Very, Very Unfortunate

was soon renamed Bork the Bold.

- [Astrid] I bet you wish you knew him. - [Gobber] Well, I do know him.

The fact is, we all know him.

- Thanks to the Book of Dragons. - [children cheering]

[Hiccup] And I guess one day, new kids will know us

by how we trained our dragons.

[Gobber] Aye, that they will. But in the meantime,

you kids can carry on where Bork left off.

[Hiccup] Well, then I'd better finish these Night Fury pages.

- There's still so much to learn. - [Fishlegs] Yeah!

Like how fast Toothless can go.

Well, to be honest, I don't know his top speed, but...

Oh! Somebody wants to find out, does he? OK. Let's find out.

Last one to the peak has to clean the stables.

Hey, wait up! I gotta see this!

To be young, wild and have most of my limbs again.

Oh, right! Congratulations!

Now you're on your way. Our newest dragon trainer.

It's time to meet your first batch now.

Ha ha! Good luck!

[screeching, muttering]

[bleating]

[bleating]

- Fire! - [man] Get the buckets!

- [man 2] To the ocean! - What happened?

The wind is shifting! Fire brigade, move in!

- [Stoick] Bring the Nadders in from the south! - [girl] I'm on it!

Gronckles, aim for the roof!

Good work! Just a few hot spots left.

- Got it! - Where's Gobber? Is he still inside?

No. Can't find him.

[Gobber] I'm right here.

That beast will pay for this.

[Stoick] Gobber, what happened?

What's it look like? A dragon set my home on fire.

[all] What?

You pushed me too far this time, you ugly bag of bones!

Dad, what's he talking about? Our dragons don't do that anymore.

He doesn't mean one of yours. Gobber, for the last time,

- there is no such thing as a... - Boneknapper?

- [all gasping] - [woman]A boneknapper...?

Ho-ho... What-knapper?

A disgusting, foul beast, wearing a coat of stolen bones,

like a giant, flying skeleton.

Ooh, ooh! The dragon manual says that the Boneknapper will stop at nothing

to find the perfect bone to build its coat of armor. It's awesome.

Come on! It's a myth. [laughs] It doesn't even exist.

I'm telling you, it's real. I've been running from him my whole life.

He's the one who started this fire.

Stoick, we found Gobber's underpants hanging by the stove.

- They must've started the fire. - [all laughing]

You still think it's the Boneknapper, or just your underpants?

I don't think! I know! Somehow he found me again.

This dragon is pure evil.

Gobber, it's late and we're too tired for your stories.

Now, get some rest.

You rest. I'm putting an end to this.

- Come on, Phil, let's go. - [bleating]

I don't need their help, anyway.

[sighs] I can't let him go by himself.

All right, Vikings, grab your shields.

- Yes! - Yeah!

There's no way I'm getting on

a boat to go after a fake dragon.

[Gobber] Come on! Put your backs into it, you lazy dogs! Stroke!

You're not even trying! Stroke!

How fun is this? Right?

We got the team back together, another adventure...

This is pretty cool, huh?

Yep, nothing cooler than rowing until your hands bleed.

Just want you kids to know that it touches my heart,

you helping me slay the Boneknapper. [sobbing] True Vikings, you are.

- Gobber, are we there yet? - Oh, you'll know we're close

when your ears explode from the piercing screams.

Legend says this dragon's roar is so fierce,

it can melt the flesh right off your bones.

[Gobber] Not so, Fishlegs.

The Boneknapper has no roar at all. That's why he's terrifying.

He's a silent killer.

Wait. So if we don't hear anything, we're dead?

- [silence] - I don't hear anything.

- [Phil bleating] - [all scream]

[Gobber laughs] Good one, Phil!

Did I ever tell you about the first time I met the dreaded Boneknapper?

[Gobber] I was a young lad, about your age, on summer vacation with my family,

when I heard the call of nature.

Oh! Dad, pull the boat over!

[father] Didn't I tell ya to go before we left?

[grunting]

[humming]

[grunts]

[Gobber] I saw an army of Vikings, frozen in battle!

Clutched in the fingers of one of the Vikings

was a small treasure chest. I had to have it.

Ah!

[Gobber] I reached in and pulled out the chest.

- It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. - [screaming]

- [Viking growling] - But the frozen Viking was alive!

He started punching me in the face!

- Oh! My tooth! - [Viking mumbling]

- Huh? - [muffled shouting]

[Gobber] And there it was. I never even heard it coming.

The Boneknapper!

It crashed into the glacier, causing an avalanche of frozen Vikings!

[grunting]

[young Gobber] The treasure!

[Gobber] I reached into the water...

- Oh! [screams] - ...only to find the frozen Viking

punching me in the face again!

Hey, hey, hey, hey!

[screaming]

- Ha-ha! Whoa! - [Gobber] The Boneknapper wanted that treasure,

but I wanted it more!

[screaming]

What took you so long?

Uh... [laughs]

[laughing]

You expect us to believe that a frozen Viking punched you in the face?

Yeah, twice.

Hey, it could happen.

What do you mean, "It could happen?" It did!

But I outsmarted the silent beast.

Uh, Gobber, I hate to be a stickler for details,

but Boneknappers are not silent.

Fishlegs, I know what I didn't hear.

- But I could feel it... - Um, guys?

- Are there supposed to be...? - ...had a sixth sense for danger.

- I can smell anything... - We're gonna hit these...

...taste the oncoming doom...

[all shouting]

- Whoa! - Uh, I'm tasting rocks.

Ah... We're here.

[groans] Now, we're stuck in the middle of nowhere

and no one even knows where we are.

Um, except the Boneknapper. Legend says...

Hey, you know what legend also says? Stop talking!

- OK, just hold on one darn second. - No need to panic, kids.

- I've been shipwrecked many times. - Oh. Well, that's comforting.

[sighs] You never forget your first shipwreck.

[Gobber] I was stranded on an island with only my broom.

It was a very small island.

It's no wonder the Boneknapper found me again.

He never forgave me for taking that treasure.

There was another island,

my only escape.

But I was surrounded by bloodthirsty hammerhead sharks!

[growling]

- I only had one chance. - Ah!

So I ran across the shark-infested waters.

Take that! Watch it! Night-night, fatty!

[laughing]

Someone forgot to brush.

[Gobber] I didn't think I was gonna make it.

But then, from the depths of the ocean, leapt forth

a giant hammerhead whale!

[laughs]

And the hammerhead whale ate the Boneknapper?

Almost, but he got away.

Years later, the dragon hunted me down again and chased me into the jungle.

[Gobber] All I had was my trusty egg beater.

I carved through that thick brush as fast as a jungle cat.

Still, the Boneknapper was right behind!

[grunting] Ooh!

Azaleas! [gasps]

[Gobber] I ran up the side of a volcano

and courageously leapt across the fiery crater.

Then, deep within the burning volcano,

burst forth a giant hammerhead yak!

OK, wait a minute. Now you're saying a giant hammerhead yak

leapt out of a fiery volcano and ate the Boneknapper?

Ha! You would've thought so, wouldn't you? But the dragon got away again!

I knew that boney scoundrel would keep coming after me.

[Gobber] So I set up a gauntlet of traps and waited for the beast.

[strumming guitar]

[Gobber] And when he was ready...

And then I ran like the wind!

But the traps failed!

[gasps]

[gasps]

[Gobber] Then, captured,

I did what any brave Viking would do...

- Help! - The gods must have heard my prayer.

- It was Thor! - Ooh!

He tossed a mighty thunderbolt.

[grunting]

- Oh! You missed! - Wait for it...

[Gobber] Then, from the center of the earth, blasted forth...

...the hammerhead yak riding the hammerhead whale!

Deploy the yak.

Yah!

[grunting]

[growling]

- Yes! Oh, my back! - [cracking]

Whoa! The whale saluted you?

[laughs] Can you believe it? But the Boneknapper got away again.

- He found me on... - Are you kidding?

- I don't believe any of this. - You totally made everything up!

- It's time to get out of here. - We need to get home.

You don't even have any proof that that thing exists.

Of course I have proof. I still have the treasure.

This stunning belt buckle.

It was in the Viking's treasure chest. It's kept my pants up for years.

It is stunning.

Uh... Listen, Gobber?

Instead of chasing down an imaginary dragon,

maybe we should figure out how to get home.

Say no more! I hear you loud and clear. I've got a plan.

All right. Who'd like to be dragon bait?

- [all gasp] - [Phil bleats]

Uh, Gobber, are you sure this is safe?

- Ah, safety's overrated. - Huh?

OK, here's the plan. The Boneknapper wants me, right?

He comes down that trail, sees Fishlegs, thinks it's me,

rushes Fishlegs, causing Phil to trip that rope,

dropping that ribcage and then we rush in and finish him off, once and for all!

It's sad when they get old.

Gobber, you're taking this way too far, OK?

You need to face it. There is no such thing as the Boneknapper.

Wormsquat! Now, get into position.

Way to go, Fishlegs! You're doing fine!

[Hiccup] No wonder the entire village thinks you're crazy.

Hello? He sees dead Vikings.

- Yeah, especially that thing about... - Um, guys?

- [Astrid] This is a complete waste of time. - [Fishlegs] Guys!

Turn around! Guys, guys!

- [all] What? - [rattling]

It's right behind us, isn't it?

[squeaks]

Well, what do you know? No roar.

Run!

OK, Gobber, we believe you!

[all screaming]

- [Gobber] Phil! - [pounding]

[all scream]

Find a happy place, find a happy place.

No, no, please! Please!

He wants my head!

I swear he wants my head! Oh!

Bring it on! You wait till I get out there...

Wait. It searches for the perfect bone to build its coat of armor.

The treasure! Gobber, take off your pants.

Huh?

- [all] No! - Wait, listen to me.

I think Fishlegs was right.

The Boneknapper is supposed to have a roar.

But maybe he can't because the bone he needs is your belt buckle.

Gobber, please, you have to give it back.

No way. It's mine!

Uh-oh. Whoa!

[Gobber yelling]

Give him back his bone!

[Gobber] No!

- Give him back his bone! - No!

No... All right.

Oof!

[all gasp]

[groaning]

[roaring]

[growling]

Gobber!

All right, you've got me. Make it fast.

[softly growling]

- Uh... [laughs] - [cooing]

- [all groaning] - That's gonna give me nightmares.

Well, at least we have a ride home.

[Gobber laughing]

Aren't you cute? Yes, you are! Yes, you are.

[roaring]

- All right! - Whoo-hoo!

You know, I never doubted him. I was always like, "He's right."

This tailbone is hurting my tailbone.

[roaring]

He sure seems happy to have that bone back.

Well, legend says the Boneknapper's roar is its mating call.

Oh, that's just a myth!

- [high-pitched roar] - [all gasp]

- Uh-oh. - [bleating]

- [roaring] - [Gobber] I think Stoick will believe me now, eh?

- [laughs] - [roaring]
