ANNOUNCER: Previously on The Voice...
Team Richard and Team Melanie C
face the Knockouts.
(SINGERS VOCALISE)
I absolutely love what you did with that song.
You keep surprising me.
You nailed it.
Absolutely nailed it.
That's such a big compliment.
With only two artists from each team...
Euan.
Cassie.
..earning a place in the semi-finals.
Bella. Joseph.
Team Kate and Team Ronan take on the Knockouts...
The knockouts are a bloodbath.
Oh. Pretty brutal.
Essentially, you're singing for a spot in the semi-finals.
Which is stressing me out.
(LAUGHTER)
..as these artists fight for a chance...
I had goosebumps when you performed that song.
..to sing for their lives in the Showdowns...
(SINGERS VOCALISE)
I've never seen you perform like that, ever.
..as Kate and Ronan face their toughest decision yet...
This is...this is so rough.
I want to take everybody, but I can't.
Can I?
Wait? Are you gonna start changing the rules now.
..with shocking repercussions?
We're gonna throw all kinds of spanners in the works here.
Welcome to The Voice Australia.
It is time to kick off another exhilarating night of Knockouts
as Team Ronan and Team Kate are set to take to the stage.
By the end of tonight Australia your top eight will be decided.
But, it all starts right now.
And first up, it's Team Kate.
# It's a knockout...
This Knockout is between
my country rocker James,
my aerialist Amber,
and Alyssa,
who I stole from Ronan.
Welcome, Alyssa.
Amber. James. Hey.
You guys are gonna be together for the Knockouts.
Ah. (LAUGHTER)
How do you feel?
Alyssa's fresh. Newbie.
She's fresh off the boat to Team Kate.
Do you like it so far?
Team Kate's great... I love it.
In the battles I sang against Ellaphon.
The artist that won this battle is Ellaphon.
Ronan picked Ellaphon, but I got saved by all four coaches.
I'll always have a soft spot for Alyssa
because I-I was the one that found her in the crowd,
and I-I think she's incredible.
Thank you. And I went with Kate.
Thank you so much.
Alyssa, how do you feel being grouped against these two?
(SIGHS) I don't know.
Like, they're both crazy good.
I feel like I finally met my match.
Yeah, it's not easy sharing a stage with Amber.
Subtle, I swear.
James and Amber are both consummate performers.
(UPBEAT MUSIC)
Occasionally, their vocals suffer
because the showmanship tends to take precedence.
Whereas Alyssa is the opposite.
Her vocals are exquisite,
but sometimes her inexperience can show a bit on stage.
So, I'm hoping they might rub off on each other.
We're all gonna be singing...
Australian songs.
Fantastic. Yes!
It's just something I'm so passionate about.
Yeah. Love it.
And, James... Yeah.
..your song will be 'Working Class Man'...
Oh, come on now. ..by Jimmy Barnes.
Here we go. Great. Yeah.
This song, it means so much to me.
I believe in what it's saying.
And I believe in who it's for.
I don't want to mess up.
This will be your first time not playing guitar.
Yeah.
So, you got nothing to hide behind this time.
I know. What do I do with my hands?
# Father, son left to carry on
# Blue denim in his veins...
Hey, James, can we just start that again?
Can we just have it without the-the swaying?
Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Be still.
Just focus on the story, the lyric only at the beginning.
It takes quite a lot of courage
to just stand on stage and be completely still.
# Working hard to make a living
# Bringing shelter From the rain... #
Yeah. Nice. Beautiful.
Not playing guitar
and singing a song that means so much to me.
I think I'll be feeling pretty vulnerable.
Amber, your song will be...
'Don't Call Me Baby' by Madison Avenue.
Oh!
So, 'Don't Call Me Baby' isn't my usual wild,
flamboyant energy.
It's held and I-I know that's gonna be a challenge.
Obviously, it's not big, crazy, flashy vocals,
and I'm quite keen to almost play into the delivery of
just standing there and owning the message.
I think that is perfect for you right now.
Yeah. We'll take the movement away.
Yeah.
And you can prove to everyone that you're here as a vocalist.
I do think it is the right move
because we're getting to the pointy end of this competition.
If you can't hold your own vocally,
you're not gonna be here for much longer.
Alyssa, the song you'll be singing for your Knockouts
is 'Chains' by Tina Arena.
One of the greatest singers to walk the earth.
It's such a belty song
and there's so many things that could go wrong with it.
It definitely is daunting.
Two, three, four.
# Your arms are warm But they make me feel
# As if they're made of cold Cold steel... #
You sing with young singers or singers who are green.
You can sort of see their nerves on their face.
This is a song full of frustration and inner turmoil.
It's a really vulnerable song in a way.
I would love to see your eyes as much as possible.
I just get really bad anxiety
when it comes to performing in front of people.
I just have this idea in my head that
I'm gonna freak out on stage.
It's just about being able to harness those nerves
and being able to use them.
I think this is actually a perfect song for you.
I'm in chains.
It can be you railing against that nervous shadow self
that's an emotion you can really use in this song.
Definitely.
# Ooh, let it rain... #
As you know, there are no saves left,
so, two of you will make it through to the Showdown.
But sadly, one of you will be going home.
I feel so determined now.
My heart's so in it.
# We have arrived At the end of days... #
I really don't want to be going home.
I don't have the vocal Olympics.
I don't have all the tricks.
But I'm not ready to go home.
(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)
The Knockout starts now.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Your arms are warm,
# But they make me feel
# As if they're made Of cold, cold steel
# Can't move my arms
# Can't lift my hands,
# I won't admit to where I am
# But I know, baby
# I'm in chains
# Oh, oh
# Should have known passing Through the gate
# That once inside I could not escape
# I never thought this Could happen to me
# Never thought this is where I'd be
# Baby, baby
# Baby look at me
# I'm in chains! #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Whoo! Holy moly.
Are you kidding me?
Jesus.
What did I get rid of her for?
Damn. Why did I get rid of her?
I know. Good job. Unbelievable.
Thanks for that. Yeah.
Holy moly.
# You and me
# We have an opportunity
# And we could make it Something really cool
# But you, you think I'm not that kind of girl
# I'm here to tell you baby I know how to rock your world
# Don't think that I'm not strong I'm the one to take you on
# Don't underestimate me boy I'll make you sorry you were born
# You don't know me The way you really should
# You sure misunderstood
# Don't call me baby
# You got some nerve And, baby, that'll never do
# You know I don't belong to you
# It's time you knew I'm not your baby
# I belong to me So, don't call me baby
# You got some nerve, baby That'll never do
# You know I don't belong to you
# It's time you knew I'm not your baby
# I belong to me So, don't call me baby. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I'm working hard To make a living... #
Yeah.
# Bringing shelter from the rain
# Find the sun left to carry on
# Blue denim in his veins
# Oh, he's a working class man
# He believes in God and Elvis
# He gets out when he can
# He did his time in Vietnam
# Still mad at Uncle Sam
# He's a simple man
# With a heart of gold In a complicated land
# Oh, he's a working class man
# Oh, Ohh
# Now he's a working class man
# Oh-oh-oh
# He's a working class man. #
Oh, amazing.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Alyssa, Amber and James.
What a knockout.
I love how you showcase all those Aussie anthems.
So, good.
Oh, my gosh.
Ronan, did you make a mistake in letting Alyssa go?
Thank you, Sonia. I appreciate that.
Yes, I did. I mean, Alyssa, that was insane.
Thank you.
We're at that point in the...in the...in the show
where it's only good stuff.
You know, it's only the good stuff right now.
And I have no idea how she chooses two of you.
Melanie, who won that for you?
I enjoyed all of the performances.
Alyssa, I think any of the great divas
would have been happy with that performance.
It was incredible.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Um Amber, it is so fun to watch you
and, like, you perform from the minute you step on that stage.
I think the world is your stage.
That's right. You know what I mean?
Lights up the stage. That's so nice to see.
And, James, again, brilliant.
Absolutely loved it. All that rasp in your voice.
But there was one moment where you pulled it right back,
and it was just so lovely to see and feel that moment.
So, yeah.
Excellent performances all round. Thank you very, very much.
Yeah, well done. Thank you.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The question is, Kate,
who delivered enough to make it through to the Showdowns.
Oh, look, Alyssa,
you have such a natural gift.
You're just freakishly good.
And I think you're a very, very special talent.
Thank you.
Amber, you are just a force of nature.
And your energy on stage is so joyful.
You know, you're a consummate performer
and you've thought of everything.
Thank you.
Truly.
James, I had goosebumps when you performed that song.
You're absolutely magnetic on stage.
Thank you, Kate. And it's-it's not just the voice.
It's everything.
Thank you very much.
So, who are you gonna take through, Kate?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(TENSE MUSIC)
The two artists I'm taking you to
the showdown are...
Alyssa...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
..and...
James.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Alyssa and James.
You live to sing another day.
You'll be singing for a place in the semi-final in the Showdown
a little bit later on.
Congratulations, James.
Congratulations, Alyssa.
Well done, guys.
Aw, now I'm sad, though. Me too.
Thank you all so much. Thank you. It's been a pleasure.
Put your hands together for Amber.
Well done, Amber.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I'll be in touch.
That was...that was...that was spectacular.
Well, Australia, the night is just getting started.
When we come back, Team Ronan takes to the stage.
Let's go!
# This is The Voice. #
So, this knockout is Ella, Mitchell and Cle.
(SINGERS VOCALISE)
Your voice moved me.
But your story
and that you're here for your-your kids.
You've got a home at Team Ronan.
My absolute soul singers.
They bring so much heart to a performance.
There's so much ability.
They're going up against each other.
You guys are my big singers, you know?
You understand what it takes to deliver a performance.
How do you feel about the other two?
It's a good reminder that we're at the pointy end
and that everyone is really good.
So, got to be on your game.
Vocally these guys are the top of the top.
It's probably the most scared I've been.
The theme from my Knockouts with you guys.
'70s, '80s, '90s.
These are big songs I'm giving you individually.
I don't think a lot of artists in-in this contest
could handle these songs.
Don't be scared to make these songs your own.
That's what we're looking for as coaches more than anything.
So, Cle, I'll start with you.
The song that I'm giving you is 'Roxanne' by the Police.
Oh. Yeah.
Yeah, it's a monster.
It's such an iconic song.
I'm reluctant, I suppose, to change a song
that's just been done so well by the original artist.
That bit scares me.
Alright. Mitchell.
The song that I've chosen for you is 'Broken Wings' by Mr Mister.
I know that one. You know that song.
Yes, I know that. Yes.
I don't think I've ever performed it, though.
It's a big sing.
It is. Yeah.
This song's got a lot of space and stillness.
It's gonna be a big challenge for me to try and add my own flavour
without doing too much.
OK. Ella.
The song that I've chosen for you 'Crazy' by Seal.
You know it?
You don't know it.
Oh, OK. We got some work to do.
I thought he was talking about Gnarls Barkley's 'Crazy'.
Yeah, definitely scared.
# But we're never gonna survive On unless...
# We get a little bit crazy... #
You can have fun with this.
Come on. A bit of Ella.
You know, I'd love to see Ella enjoy himself.
It's about owning that moment and putting your heart
into a performance, being a true performer.
How old is your daughter?
Ten, ten weeks. Ten weeks old.
What are you like at home as a dad?
Are you the same person or do you become silly Dad?
I guess I'm a mixture of both.
I'm silly, but then she calms me down.
Silly is good.
And I'd like to see you a little bit more silly in you.
Because you are so composed. You have this incredible talent.
I'd love to see you enjoy what you are capable of doing.
This will mean the world to me. For my girl.
I want her to look up to me as a father.
# Ooh, yeah... # Come on.
I have to really double down
to get the song where I need it to be.
# When we hear the voices sing
# The book of love will open up And let us see... #
I'd love to see from Mitchell a little bit more of an edge.
There's a little bit of musical theatre that comes
in sometimes in your performances.
OK. Push away from that on this one.
A bit more rock star. OK.
Part of me always tries to perfect everything.
Make everything sound as nice as it can.
So, I think if I can bring a bit more rockstar energy,
it's gonna be more real and raw.
# I love you since I knew you
# I wouldn't talk down to you
# I told you once I won't tell you again
# It's all by the way. #
The pressure of singing Sting and the boys next to me.
And...
I just was like, whoa!
Yeah, sorry. I feel a bit nervous.
I know the weight of what you're bringing emotionally
to all of your performances.
This song, you can kind of leave a little bit of that baggage behind.
Please.
Well, she's dealing with a lot of grief,
and there's a lot of heavy sorrow.
Just have fun.
OK.
It's alright to just to let go for a minute.
It's not forever, it's just for this moment.
And this is for you. Yeah?
It's not gonna be easy for her to do that.
Thank you. Thank you.
So, the Knockouts are gonna be tough.
Essentially, you're singing for a spot in the semi-finals.
I'll see you out there.
Thank you. Good luck.
Thank you.
I don't want to go home.
Before coming here, I had fully forgotten what joy is.
And I'm not ready to not feel it.
I'm a little worried going against Ellaphon and Cle.
This will be the hardest performance of my life.
My anxiety levels are through the roof.
Am I even worthy to be here against these beasts of singers?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Come on.
Are you nervous? Yeah. Very nervous.
Really nervous. Yeah.
Because they're so good.
Yeah. I'm really.
Come on. You can do it. I got you.
Come on.
# A man decides After 70 years
# That what he goes there for
# Is to unlock the door
# While those around him criticise And sleep
# Yeah
# Ooh
# In a world full of people
# Only some want to fly
# Isn't that crazy... #
Yeah, come on.
# Yeah
# In a world full of people
# Only some want to fly
# Isn't that crazy
# Crazy... #
Come on.
# Everybody sing with me, hey
# But were never gonna Survive unless
# We get a little crazy
# Crazy, crazy
# Get a little bit crazy. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Go, Ella! Well done, buddy.
# Baby, don't understand
# Why we can't just hold on
# To each other's hands
# Ooh... #
Nice, nice.
# Oh... #
Come on.
# So, take these broken wings
# And learn to fly again Learn to live so free
# When we hear the voices sing
# The book of love will open up
# And let us in
# Take these broken wings
# You've got to learn to fly
# Learn to live and love so free
# And when we hear, the voices sing
# The book of love will open up for us
# And let us in, yeah. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done, Mitchell.
Yeah, man.
# Roxanne
# You don't have To put on the red light
# Oh, those days are over
# You don't have to sell your body To the night
# I loved you since I knew you
# Oh, I wouldn't talk down to ya... #
Come on.
# Tell you once I won't tell you again
# It's a bad way
# Roxanne
# You don't have to put On the red light
# Roxanne
# You don't have To put on a red light
# Put on a red light... #
Yeah, come on.
# Put on the red light
# Put on the red light, oh. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Yeah, whoo! Whoa.
Ellaphon, Mitchell and Cle.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Wow.
That was unbelievable.
Also, Mitchell, I did want to tell you.
Your gorgeous little baby boy Charlie is in the audience.
I think Cle might have woken him up.
I think we have him
on our shark fan cam.
Aw, there he is.
How old is he now?
He'll be two next week.
Two next week. Gorgeous isn't he? Right.
I digress. Melanie, three huge songs there.
It was brilliant.
I feel like we saw a slightly different side to Ellaphon actually,
I really enjoyed that.
You know, cheeky little smile was coming out a few moves there.
Mitchell, love your voice in that song.
A little bit pitchy in parts,
but when it was in the right spot it was soaring.
And then, Cle, I love it 'cause you're like composed
and then you just hit us between the eyes.
You've got every beat down and then it ends in composed again.
It's like... (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
That's me.
It's like...it's like the music just like makes you alive.
Yeah.
You know, and we could all feel that.
Yeah, it was wonderful.
So so good.
Well, Ronan, three amazing artists.
Only two will get a pass through to sing again.
I can't choose. Do you not want to ask Richard? No.
Richard.
I... I'm sitting this one out.
OK, OK, fine.
I will say...
Good luck, buddy. Thanks.
(LAUGHTER)
I really appreciate that.
That has changed everything. (LAUGHTER)
Team, I'm so bloody proud of the three of you.
I mean...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
You know, you've all really shone brighter than you ever have.
Ell, you're just...
You're in your own lane, man.
Ain't nobody touching you. You're in your own lane.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Mitchell, from musical theatre vibes to, you know,
you're a rock star dad now.
Thank you, thank you.
Cle, what can I say? What a journey we've been on.
It's so incredible to work with you.
You're amazing. Same.
You're amazing. You're amazing. Amazing.
So...
I don't know how I choose two. I don't know what to do.
I want to take everybody, but I can't.
Can I? No, I can't.
You have two Knockouts, so, you can take two from this team
and two from the next team.
Wait, are you gonna start changing the rules now?
You can only have four people in the Showdown.
But if I took three,
that means I can only take one in the next.
That's correct. Oh.
The artists I'll be taking through to the Showdown are...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# This is The Voice. #
The artists I'll be taking through to the Showdown are...
(TENSE MUSIC)
Cle...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(TENSE MUSIC)
..Ellaphon and Mitchell.
I'm taking the three. Let's go. Let's go.
Take everyone. I can't.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I can't choose, I can't do it.
Wow.
Yeah!
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
OK, so, just to make sure everyone understands
the history going forward, and you can only take one person
from your next Knockout.
I get it, I know it's crazy but I can't.
I don't want to burst everybody's bubble over here, but...
I know, I know.
You are going into the Showdown
where you'll have to sing again tonight.
And then only two will go through to the semi-final.
Are we all clear? Yes, I'm clear, Sonia.
I get it. Excellent.
Well, Congratulations.
Head on down. Go backstage.
Get ready, you guys. See you. Bye.
Amazing, guys. You're so bloody good.
You stepped it. You stepped it up.
Now, it's Team Kate's turn to take to the stage.
There are three artists, but only two spots in the Showdown.
Or are there?
Giving it their all to secure a place?
It's Jayd, Sienna and Charlie.
Whoo.
# Five, four, three, two, one Here we go... #
This knockout is between
my cool guitarist Sienna,
my pop singer Jayd...
and my undiscovered gem, Charlie.
# Here we go! #
Welcome, everyone.
So, the theme that I've chosen for you three is iconic bands.
So, the lead singers of these bands are people that really know
who they are.
And that's what I'm hoping
that you guys can bring to this challenge.
Sienna, Charlie and Jayd are still figuring out
who they want to be as artists.
This is the biggest challenge yet,
taking on a classic song and making it your own.
Sienna, you are going to be singing 'Come Together' by the Beatles.
Oh, wow. That's sick.
It's a big feat to put a fresh take on a song
that everyone's heard a million times.
You have to bring something
of your own to it.
# He wear, no shoeshine
# He got toe-jam football He got... #
It is a challenge
because it is such a repetitive song.
When you did a bit of variation on the melody,
I think you could feel free to do that a tiny bit more, you know,
show off a bit of your vocal chops.
OK, yeah, yeah.
It's gonna require all of Sienna's musicianship
to keep it compelling from start to finish.
What if it was even half that?
Like...
# Together right now... #
It's the sexiness.
I feel like if we can keep that space
and that raunchiness
so, that we'll forget about the Beatles
and believe that this is Sienna's song.
# Come together right now
# Over me... #
Yeah. Awesome.
Charlie, you will be singing 'Champagne Supernova' by Oasis.
That's-that's perfect. Yeah?
Oasis are one of my favourite bands.
This song will be really interesting for you because so far,
we've seen a vulnerable side to you.
# Is this one more tear to cry
# One tear upon my...
# Eye... #
Can I ask what moved you to tears at the end of that song?
Music.
It's something me and Dad can do together.
Play guitar together.
This is more of a-a banger.
So, I'm really curious to hear what you do with this.
Yeah.
'Champagne Supernova',
it's got so much power and rockiness.
It's definitely gonna be tough.
# But you and I we live and die
# The world's been spinning around
# We don't know why, why
# Why... #
You need to commit all the way through to the very end of the song.
Yeah.
It's...
# Why? #
Only a tiny "ee" at the very end. Yeah.
Just make sure we get...
Have that commitment all the way through.
He's so good at that vulnerable, emotional storytelling.
This song is a bit more muscular.
It's a bit more up tempo, so, it is a challenge.
Alright, Jayd, you are gonna be singing Meat Loaf,
'I'd Do Anything for Love'. Do you know that song?
Yeah.
Hmm, it's not something that I feel like
it's in my general repertoire.
I just feel like the world is crumbling around me.
I thought you might have this kind of reaction,
but I really wanted to challenge you.
It's so over the top.
Think of it as though it's from a musical.
I'm anxious about how it could go.
I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off.
# And maybe I'm crazy
# Oh, it's crazy and it's true
# I know you can save me
# No-one else can save me now But you... #
This song choice is a challenge for her.
I think she might hate it, but that's OK.
Sometimes we have to sing songs we hate,
and we have to find a way to make it your own.
I...I...I think you're up to it. Alright?
There's a big expectation that I will be able to deliver.
And I don't know if I...
can do it.
I don't know if that's... I've got it in me.
# This is The Voice. #
# Sky is the limit I want it all and I'll get it
# Feel so good when I'm winning
#You better move outa my way... #
This Knockout's gonna be
insanely tough.
I'm singing a song that I don't know.
A song that is a vocal marathon.
It's gonna be the biggest challenge I've faced so far.
I got a lot of nerves,
but I'm not ready to go home yet.
I'd love to be in the semi-finals. I'm gonna give this Knockout 100%.
60 seconds is a really short time
to prove to Kate that I have something
that the other contestants don't have.
If I were to go home after this round,
I would be pretty disappointed.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Whoo!
Alright. Whoo.
# And I would do anything for love
# But I won't do that
# No I won't do that
# And some days it don't come easy
# And some days it don't come hard
# Some days I don't come at all
# And these other days It never rains
# And maybe I'm crazy
# I'm crazy and it's true
# I know you can save me
# No-one else can save me Now but you
# As long as the planets are turning
# As long as the stars are burning
# As long as your dreams Are coming true,
# You better believe it
# That I would do anything for love
# I would do anything for love
# I would do anything
# For love
# But I won't do that
# But I won't do
# That. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Here come old flat-top He come grooving up slowly
# He got ju-ju eyeball
# He one holy roller
# He's got hair down
# To his knees
# Got to be a joker He just do what he please
# He wear no shoeshine He got toe-jam football
# He got monkey finger He shoot Coca-Cola
# He say
# "I know you, you know me"
# One thing I can tell you Is you got to be free
# Come together right now
# Come together
# Right now
# Over me. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Whoo. Holy moly.
# How many special people change?
# How many lives Are living' strange?
# Where were you While we were getting high... #
Come on, Charlie.
# Slowly walking down the hall
# Faster than a cannonball
# Where were you While we were getting high?
# Someday you will find me
# Caught beneath the landslide
# In a champagne supernova In the sky
# Someday you will find me
# Caught beneath your landslide... #
Come on, man.
# In a champagne supernova a champagne supernova
# 'Cause you and I, we live and die The world's still spinning 'round
# We don't know why
# Why, why, why. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Jayd, Sienna and Charlie...
what a line-up.
Ronan. Yeah.
'Champagne Supernova', I mean...
I mean, yeah, a great song. All great song choices.
Charlie, I have to ask you, how are you feeling, man?
I just... You look a bit shell shocked.
Yeah, I wasn't-I wasn't happy with the start.
Yeah. Did something happen at the start?
Oh, just...
I think it was just all the nerves kicking in.
I saw you struggle a little bit in the beginning,
and I felt like you righted yourself.
I feel like you got the wheels back on track.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you very much.
And there's something about your voice
that has always appealed to me in a way
that I feel like you're still untapped potential.
I feel the same way about Sienna, too.
Jayd, I thought, you know,
you have such a beautiful instrument.
And that's a very challenging song.
I felt like that performance was full of great moments
and some really not great moments,
and there was an inconsistency throughout that.
I was like eugh.
'Cause I know that your instrument is better than that.
In Jayd's defence, she absolutely hated this song.
Her face was like...
But I get you were probably like, I've done.
You're trying to push her out of her comfort zone...
Yeah, absolutely. ..to see what she can do.
I know.
Jayd, you're just an absolute master at singing pop.
You know, female pop songs. You've got that in the bag.
I was thinking what else could she do?
And-and I don't think
that was your best performance of that song.
I don't know.
I feel like it is hard to connect to a song um,
when you've done it a few different times...
And you start to over think it and...
Yeah, I'm really sorry that I couldn't deliver in that way.
Oh, my god.
No, no, I mean, you're also so great at learning.
And I give you a note once, and you've got it instantly.
You've got an incredible voice.
It's such a flexible instrument, and I love to listen to it.
Well, Kate, the time has come.
Which two of your young guns are you going to be taking
to the Showdown?
Well, this is...this is so rough.
Sienna, I'm just... I'm a massive fan of yours.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
You sound like nobody else on the planet.
You open your mouth.
And I really want to hear what's gonna come out of it.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Charlie, I can see in your face right now
that you're shocked and upset, but I am full of admiration.
You went from that moment of absolute terror and shame,
and we've all felt that.
And then you were like, "You know what?
"I'm in this song now," and you double down.
Yeah, man.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Yeah, fair. Yeah.
Alright. So, who's it gonna be, Kate?
(TENSE MUSIC)
So, the first artist
that I'm gonna take through
to the Showdowns is...
Sienna.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The second artist that will be coming through
to the Showdowns is...
Charlie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Sienna and Charlie are going through to the Showdowns.
You OK, Charlie? Yeah.
It's a big second chance.
You guys now will sing again at the end of the show
for a spot in the semi-finals.
Put your hands together for Sienna and Charlie, everyone.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done, guys.
Jayd, I just want to say thank you
for all of the incredible moments
that you have brought to this show this year
for all the things that you did on stage
that made us happy.
Is there anything that you want to say?
I really did enjoy my time here
and I hope to see everyone some other time.
Put your hands together for Jayd.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Well done.
You're such a fantastic singer and performer.
And yeah we'll stay in touch.
Thank you so much. I've loved working with you.
The artists are really bringing their A-game tonight
with some utterly breathtaking performances.
Don't go anywhere as we still have one final Knockout
before tonight's Showdowns kick off.
We'll see you right after this.
Up next...
Ronan's final knockout has emotions running high.
Unfortunately,
only one of you can progress through to the Showdown.
(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)
Milly's pissed off. I know.
Honest to god, I'm-I'm lost.
# This is The Voice. #
Welcome back to The Voice.
Now, Ronan, this is your last Knockout.
And your artists have to deliver to get a spot in the Showdown.
I've only got one spot left. One-one spot.
One spot left in the Showdown. I mean, this is gonna be ruthless.
So, what do they have to do to get that one spot?
I'm this has got to be really special.
Alright, that's what we're looking for.
Something special. Check this out.
This Knockout is between Milly, Hunter and Tiffney.
Milly, how are you feeling after the battles?
I'm a bit nervous seeing these guys here with me.
Hunter, how are you feeling?
I think that's the most amount of emotions
that I've gone through in one, like, hour.
At the battles I've versed Cle. She really stole the show.
The artist that won this battle is Cle.
As I was on my way out the door. I was quickly called up backstage.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Great people go home, but that's the game
and that's the way it works.
But for me, I made a big mistake.
The best way to kind of thank him
and show him my gratitude is to prove to him
that he saved me for a good reason.
The team for your Knockouts is natural talents...
because I think you three, you've got that natural ability.
You're raw.
They've all had moments
where they've been lacking in confidence.
And I'm hoping by putting the three of them together,
perhaps they can see it in each other and learn.
Tiff. Let's go.
The song that you'll be singing in the knockouts.
Belinda Carlisle 'Heaven Is a Place on Earth'.
Sick. That's good. You know it?
I do. Thank god.
Never sung it. OK.
But ripper of a song.
# Who will make heaven a place On earth?
# Oh, baby Do you know what that's worth?
# Oh, heaven is a place On earth... #
I'm in the room with Hunter and Milly and Ronan.
And I was feeling a lot of pressure.
A second, Scotty. Sorry. Relax your jaw.
You're tight. OK.
# Oh, in the night. #
It changes the sound when you drop this jaw.
Relax your tongue. OK.
# When the night...
# When the night falls... #
OK, I always find myself, like...
Tight here.
Yeah, I'm probably gonna tense it again straight away.
Yeah, no but try and try it. If you think about it, you'll do it.
Yeah, I know.
She needs to relax all of this.
If she's not warm and ready for this performance,
it'll be a car crash.
Hunter song that you will be singing in the Knockouts is
'Someday, Someday'.
Really? Thirsty Merc.
Oh, wow. I love that song.
I love this song. Wow.
These guys are awesome.
# You gotta hear what I say
# I'm in love with you
# I'm not so far away... #
I was immediately thinking of which way I could alter this
and how could I can make it, you know, Hunter's song.
Because I'm not a big kind of extravagant doing my runs.
I'm not that kind of singer.
Can we do it, like, a fair bit slower than the original?
Is that possible?
We're similar as singers, you know.
I can't sing like Ellaphon. I wish I could.
Exactly yeah. But I'm a totally different singer.
And-and I've done alright for myself
because I attach myself emotionally.
I tell a story when I'm singing.
So, do the same. Yeah.
For Hunter, he's limited as a vocalist.
But what he has in trumps is heart.
Be that guy.
Milly looking back at your performance.
How do you feel you went? Um.
Look, I was a little disappointed, especially after what you said.
In the battles I sang against Olivia.
(SINGERS VOCALISE)
Unfortunately, it started out pitchy from the beginning.
It wasn't as good as it could have been
and should have been.
Always good to have things to improve on
so, hopefully I can smash the next one.
I see...I see the possibilities with you.
That's why you're here.
OK, song that you will be singing in the knockouts is
'Seventeen Going Under' Sam Fender.
Yes. Yeah?
Let's go. Yeah.
One of my faves.
# The distances we covered
# The fist fights on the beach
# The thing... #
'Cause I'm so used to singing the really slowed down version.
This is straight in off the top of the song.
You've 60 seconds.
You've got to give it all from the top.
Yeah. Very much at this performance.
Very much with this song. This is a rock tune, right? Really.
You will lose the energy in that song if you slow it down.
Milly's got to bring that edge.
She's got to bring that coolness to the performance.
And fingers crossed she can do it.
Being teamed up with Hunter and Tiffney,
I feel vocally out of my depth.
But I want to win this Knockout more than anything.
I know how it feels to go home,
and I don't really want to have that feeling again.
These Knockouts there's no room for a missed note.
We have to be absolutely perfect.
(DRAMATIC TENSE MUSIC)
The pressure is definitely on.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I remember
# The sickness was forever
# I remember snuff videos... #
Yes.
# Cold Septembers The distances we covered
# The fist fights on the beach
# That's the thing, it lingers
# And claws you when you're down
# And I was far too scared To hit him
# But I would hit him In a heartbeat now... #
Yeah.
# That's the thing with anger
# It hurts them like
# They're nothing
# Ooh
# I see my mother The DWP see a number
# She cries on the floor encumbered
# I'm 17 going under
# I'm 17 going under. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Oh.
Wow.
# When the night falls down
# I wait for you
# And you come around
# When you walk into the room
# You pull me close And we start to move
# And we're spinning With the stars above
# And you lift me up In a wave of love
# Oh, baby Do you know what that's worth?
# Ooh, Heaven is a place on Earth
# They say in Heaven Love comes first.
# We will make Heaven a place On Earth
# Oh, baby, do you know What that's worth?
# Ooh, Heaven is a place on Earth
# They say in Heaven Love comes first
# We'll make Heaven a place on Earth
# Ooh, Heaven is a place on Earth. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done, Tiff.
# So, we've established the fact that things are gonna be different
# In the future, babe... #
Yeah, man.
# And I've been going outta town Baby, it's gonna happen more
# We gotta be strong But now while I'm gone
# Just be a fly on the wall
# You know, I'm thinking about you
# Just wait and see You gotta hear what I'm saying
# I'm in love with you I'm not so far away
# Someday, someday, I will be here, baby
# Someday, someday I will be the one, baby
I will be here, baby
# Someday, someday I will be the one, baby
# Someday
# Hey
# I just need you here, baby. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done.
Oh, Jesus Christ almighty.
Great job, guys.
Now, earlier tonight,
Ronan decided to send all three of his singers
from his first Knockout through to tonight's Showdown.
Milly is pissed off.
I know. Sorry, Milly.
So, unfortunately... It's not in the rules, Ronan.
I know I can't help myself.
That does mean, unfortunately, that only one of you
can progress through to the Showdown.
This is going to be a really hard decision now, Ronan.
You know, Milly,
I asked of you certain things in that performance,
and you gave it.
You just gave it tenfold.
It's a...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Why the tears, Milly? What's wrong?
Um...
I just think I'm realising how much it means to me right now.
I know. I know. It's a big thing.
This is a big thing.
Tiff, you gave up on your dream, and now, you're back.
You got your axe, and you are ready to rock.
I mean, you've been...you've been amazing.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
It's-it's reignited the fire
that I thought was probably gone forever.
So... Well, it is not gone forever.
It's brighter than ever.
Hunter, man, I've never seen you perform like that ever.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) In all we've done.
You were rocking. You were an artist.
Yeah. So, I am honest to god, I'm-I'm lost.
(TENSE MUSIC)
Showdown is huge. You have no idea.
Those other three are crazy good.
We know, We know.
Yeah.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) (DRAMATIC TENSE MUSIC)
The artists I'm-I'm taking through to the Showdown...
It's Milly.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(CONTESTANTS CHATTERING)
Congratulations, Milly.
You are going through to the Showdown.
Good luck.
What's it like for you guys being part of Team Ronan?
Oh, the-the amount of mentoring and stuff
that Ronan has given us.
It's been something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
Um yeah, it's-it's been amazing.
Thanks, mate. Thank you.
Just the whole journey has been amazing, honestly.
Yeah.
I'm-I'm so thankful for every single step of the way.
So, thank you. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you. Thanks, Tiff.
For one final time,
please give a massive round of applause
for Tiffney and Hunter.
Mate, you should have been there.
Well done, Tiff. You were awesome.
You're great. You were great. Well done.
After the break it's Showdown time
where our artists will do everything
they can for their spot in the semi-finals.
Next...
Team Kate face off for a spot in the semi-finals.
It would mean the absolute world to go to the semi-finals.
Music is my passion. It's my dream.
It's all I want.
I'm going to give this performance 100%.
'Cause if this is the last time I sing on this stage
it needs to be the best.
# This is The Voice. #
Welcome back to The Voice.
Now, the stakes are at an all time high
with no second chances.
James, Charlie, Alyssa and Sienna
have fought their way through the Knockouts,
but there's still another hurdle before they can secure
one of the two places on Team Kate in the semi-finals.
All singing a song they've chosen. Let the Showdown begin.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# You never expect it
# To be in your wildest dreams... #
Come on!
# So, take a step backwards For a little while
# You'll find it there
# Yeah
# It's something That I can't explain
# So, I remain trapped inside
# Still holding strong Still holding on to you
# To you
# Take me back to you It's been a long time
# Alone every night, I think of you
# You're such a lonely life
# Oh, oh
# Take me back to you, baby
# Take me back to you... #
Come on!
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# There goes my heart beating
# 'Cause you are the reason
# I'm losing my sleep
# Please come back now
# And there goes my mind racing
# 'Cause you are the reason
# That I'm still breathing
# I'm hopeless now
# I'd climb every mountain
# And swim every ocean
# Just to be with you
# And fix what I've broken
# Oh, 'cause I need you
# To see
# That you are
# The reason. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Guess mine
# Is not the first heart broken
# My eyes are
# Not the first to cry... #
Wow.
# I'm not the first to know
# There's just No getting over you... #
Holy moly.
# I'm hopelessly devoted
# To you
# But now there's nowhere to hide
# Since you pushed my love aside
# I'm out of my head
# Hopelessly devoted
# To you
# Hopelessly devoted
# To you
# Ooh. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Flowers in hand, waiting for me
# Every word in poetry
# Won't call me by name, only baby
# The more that you give The less that I need
# Everyone says I look happy
# When it feels right
# I know that you're wrong for me
# Gonna wish we never met On the day I leave
# I brought you down to your knees
# But they say misery loves company
# It's not your fault I ruin everything
# And it's not your fault I can't be what you need
# Baby, angels like
# You can't fly down hell with me
# I'm everything They said I would be. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Make some noise for James, Charlie,
Alyssa and Sienna.
Oh, my gosh.
Well, Kate, the moment has arrived.
It's time to reveal your first semi-finalist.
Who is gonna claim the spot on Team Kate?
First of all, I just want to say I'm in awe of all of you.
And I've loved every second of us working together.
And no matter what happens tonight, you will always be on Team Kate.
And I want to keep this relationship going.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
This is, um, this is a really tough decision,
and I'm not enjoying it at all.
(AUDIENCE YELL)
(TENSE MUSIC)
The first artist that I'm gonna
take through to the semi-final is...
Alyssa.
(JOYFUL MUSIC) (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Alyssa, you're through to the semi-finals.
To be on the stage with these amazing artists,
it's such a blessing
and I'm so grateful for every moment.
You deserve that spot, my friend.
We can't wait to see what you bring in the semi-finals.
Whoo!
Well done.
This is where it gets tough, Kate.
Means that only one more person can go through to the semis.
On Team Kate, it's between James, Charlie and Sienna.
Who's it gonna be?
The next artist they will be taking through
to the semi-finals is...
Sienna. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Sienna.
I just think like everyone singing today is like
so phenomenal and the competition is just mad.
And I think you can never expect like,
to get this far in the competition.
I'm pretty shocked so... Yeah, you have, you have.
And you are through to the semi-final.
Go on down, Sienna.
Take your position in the winner's balcony.
Which leaves our boys, James and Charlie.
Look, you've just missed out this time,
but it's been so great having you on the show.
And I'm sure there's something that you'd like to say.
It's been a good time huh? Great time.
We've had some fun huh? Yeah.
No, this has been, um, such a wild experience for me.
And after this show, um, yeah, it's all I want to do.
Please put your hands together one more time
for James and Charlie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Hey. Well done, both of you. Oh, it's been such a pleasure.
Well done. We've got so much ahead. Yeah, I'm gonna be in touch.
Well done. You smashed it. So good.
Australia, up next, we find out
who our last two semi-finalists of 2025 will be.
Ronan, you've got a big decision to make.
Do not move.
I'm not. I won't move.
Next...
# On to the battlefield... #
Team Ronan sing for a spot in the semi-finals.
I really want this.
I want to go through to the semi-finals.
I just don't want to stop singing on that stage.
I need to show that I deserve my spot here
in the competition.
This is what I want to do. This is where I need to be.
I have to get through to the semi-final.
# This is The Voice. #
Welcome back.
Earlier, Ronan made some bold choices
selecting his top four artists for this high stakes showdown,
taking all three singers through from his first Knockout.
But with only two spots in the semi-finals,
the decisions that come next are the ones that really matter.
Mitchell, Milly, Cle and Ellaphon
must deliver a performance
that takes them one step closer to Voice victory.
And the Showdown starts now.
# I'm going under, and this time
# I fear there's no-one to save me
# This all or nothing
# Really got a way of driving me crazy
# Now, the day bleeds into nightfall
# And you're not here To get me through it all
# I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug
# I was getting kinda Used to being someone you loved
# And I tend to close my eyes
# When it hurts sometimes
# I fall into your arms
# I'll be safe in your sound Till I come back around
# For now, the day bleeds Into nightfall
# And you're not here To get me through it all
# I let my guard down And then you pulled the rug
# I was getting kinda Used to being someone you loved. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
He's good. He's good.
# Joey
# Baby
# Don't get
# Crazy
# I know you've heard it all before
# So, I don't say it anymore
# I just stand by And let you fight your secret war
# But if it's love You're looking for
# Then I can give a little more
# And if you're somewhere drunk
# And passed out on the floor
# Oh, Joey
# I'm not angry
# Anymore
# Angry anymore. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I understood loneliness
# Before I knew what it was
# Saw the pills on the table
# For your unrequited love
# I would be nothing
# Without you holding me up
# I'm strong enough for both of us
# Both of us, both of us, both of us
# I am a giant ooo,
# Stand up on my shoulders
# Tell me what you see
# I am a giant ooo
# We'll be breaking boulders Underneath our feet
# I am, hey
# Throw it away, in the dirt, Under me yeah, yeah
# Yeah, oh, hey
# I am, I am, I am
# I understood loneliness
# Before I knew what it was. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Turn down the lights
# Turn down the bed
# Turn down these voices
# Inside my head
# 'Cause I can't make
# You love me
# If you don't
# You can't make your heart feel
# Something that it won't
# Oh, and here in the dark
# In these final hours
# I will lay down my heart
# And I'll feel the power
# But if you don't
# No you won't
# 'Cause I can't make you love me,
# Yeah
# If you don't
# Ooo, Ooh. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Leaving absolutely nothing on the table.
Mitchell, Milly, Cle and Ellaphon.
Melanie, who did you see star quality in tonight?
You know what?
I think each of these artists has star quality.
That was the most passionate Showdown that we've had.
I feel like you were literally singing for your lives.
It was amazing.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Ronan.
I know I can only take two...
through to the semi-finals, so...
(TENSE MUSIC) (AUDIENCE YELL)
My first semi-finalist in Team Ronan
is Cle.
(JOYFUL MUSIC) (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
This is a pretty magical place to be and I just feel so blessed.
Thank you.
We're gonna see you in the semi-final.
Well done, Cle.
So, Ronan, you now have one final decision to make.
It is down to Mitchell, Milly and Ellaphon.
Milly, you're a star.
Tonight it won't be you. OK.
That's OK. You're amazing.
But I can't take you to the semi-final.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
To stand on stage with these three
meant so much to me.
Good on you.
Yeah, and I just... Thanks to, everyone.
Thank you so much. Thank you so much, Milly.
Put your hands together as we farewell,
Milly from The Voice stage.
Then there were two Ronan, just Mitchell and Ellaphon.
Who is gonna be your second semi-finalist?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) (TENSE MUSIC)
I-I just... I can't not have him on my team.
It's Ellaphon.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Ellaphon.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you, Ronan, for taking a chance on me
and continuing to.
Thank you to the other coaches for just giving me
something that to believe in.
And yeah, you guys like,
yeah, but surely you guys are so fucking cool, man.
Yeah. Lights off.
So, you my friend. You're freaking cool.
Well done, Ellaphon, you're in the semi-final.
Head on over to the winner's balcony.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
This is not the last we will see of you, Mitchell.
Thank you, Ronan, for-for taking a chance on me and...
Thank you. ..and believing in me.
Thank you so much. Always. Good on you, buddy.
Put your hands together for Mitchell.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you, Mitchell.
Thanks, mate. Thank you.
And good on you. Thank you.
Cheers. Beautiful work tonight.
Keep going.
And just like that,
we've reached the end of our electrifying Knockouts.
Your semi-finalists for 2025...
For Team Melanie, it's Euan and Cassie.
For Team Richard, it's Bella and Joseph.
For Team Ronan, it's Cle and Ellaphon.
And for Team Kate, it's Alyssa and Sienna.
One of the artists standing up here
will be crowned winner of The Voice Australia.
But first, they must survive the semi-finals.
Two nights of heart stopping performances
with our fight for the final spot on their coaches' team.
And if that wasn't enough,
get ready for an exclusive performance
from none other than Ronan Keating himself.
Whoa really?
Until next time, Australia. Good night.
Next time on The Voice...
Hello. Team Mel...
Down to the final two. Congratulations.
And you deserve to be here.
..and Team Richard...
Not to put too much pressure on you,
but you know what's at stake here.
..are in the spotlight.
I have Joseph and Bella on my team,
and they're both amazing.
But only one can go through.
(SINGER VOCALISES)
Yes!
I didn't think I'd make it this far.
I hope I have what it takes
to get to the grand final.
(SINGER VOCALISES)
This is my last chance to really show
that I can take this all the way.
I've got Euan and Cassie
