Thousands of feet above sea level in the high valleys north of India, shadowed
by the tallest mountains in the world, in the Himalayas, exists one of the
world's most perplexing mysteries.
And clear around the world in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, a
mystery puzzles modern man.
Since the late 1800s, reports of a tall, fur -covered, giant creature
have been told by explorers and natives.
And in the first ever expedition led by Colonel Burry, he reported seeing at a
height of 22 ,000 feet in the soft snow a giant footprint of what appeared to be
a naked man.
Almost 40 years later, a Scottish explorer and his wife, along with a
porters, reported seeing on a glacier at 19 ,000 feet a huge man -like creature
running across the ice ahead of them.
It left footprints, human -like.
Many other sightings have been made, and although there are some who doubt it,
many knowledgeable people firmly believe in the Yeti or the Abominable Snowman.
In the United States, there have been many reports of similar creatures,
although most of these...
have taken place in the Northwest.
As recently as 1972, there has been a sighting of the mysterious creature in
southeast section of the United States.
The Indians of the Northwest named this creature Susquash, or Wild Man of the
Wood. And because of the giant footprints he left, he was known as
Recently, the TV news and...
Newspapers and national magazines have had stories of various organizations and
groups that have tried to catch the Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman.
Does he exist?
Is he part beast and part human?
We don't know yet.
But the story you're about to see could be true.
you
Bye.
Something is up.
What do you mean, something's up?
Why don't you come up right away, huh?
All right, I'm picking up some wheels. I'll be there as soon as I can.
Right.
See you in the old cabin.
I'll see you very soon.
My God, what is that?
I'm not sure. I think it's a creature they wrote about in the times. What
creature? The hunters say they thought them being in the woods.
This monster fits the description.
What did they write about?
Oh, Christ, I don't know. I've been so petrified ever since he grabbed me.
He doesn't do anything. He just gives me food and water.
Can't we get out of this place?
No. He blocks the entrance every time he leaves.
You mean at the public?
Not completely. There was another girl here who ran out when the market back
turned. I tried to follow, but he grabbed me.
Anne, you have to be very careful on this road.
I see what you mean.
Oh, it's beautiful.
I knew you were going to love it.
Christ, it's cold up here.
Let's hurry up and get inside so we can warm up.
Come on, give me a hand.
Boy, this is going to be some wild weekend.
Hey,
it's starting to rain.
Be careful and don't fall over anything.
We'll have to use lanterns. They're in the kitchen in there.
Go get one and I'll try and get a fire going.
Oh, great. That's in the kitchen, huh?
Yeah, just in there.
Ruby, someone left us some wood.
Oh, it's only a little field mouse. It hasn't heard anything.
Oh, I hate those furry things.
I sure wish the boys were here.
Well, they'll arrive, but not to chase field mice.
Boy, this really is some remote place.
Oh, yeah, this is wilderness.
There isn't enough camping around for mouse.
Well, that's okay by me, because I could sure use the rest after last night.
Listen, why don't you get yourself organized, and I'll make you something
eat. Okay.
You'll soon have a good fire going.
Oh, that's great. It has awfully cold in here.
Mary?
Mary, do you want some more brandy? Sure.
That's enough.
Say, who are you reading that to?
Damn interesting.
Oh, it's something I found on the bookshelf.
It's a history of the area.
Mountain Gypsy.
Listen to this.
The thing they saw was that of a gigantic near -human or ape -like
covered with light brownish or black -colored hair.
You've got to be kidding.
No. People have seen strange scenes going on in these woods for years and
Seriously.
Hey, girl, this place is spooky enough without you reading that thing.
Wow, this brandy is really getting to me.
You probably had too much.
You know, alcohol gets you a lot faster at this altitude than at sea level.
Isn't it about 7 ,000 feet up?
Well, I figure that if for one day I'm going to go to bed.
Coming? In a minute.
I'll take care of you.
Wow, you really are frightened.
You're shaking like a leaf.
Come on.
You're a grown girl now.
Feel better?
You know something?
I've been wanting to get you alone since Charlie's party.
I know.
I would have come with you then, but Ray would have really flipped out.
Yeah?
But it was a great idea to come up here.
Yeah.
Where are you going?
What are you waiting for?
Thank you.
Hey, hey, look.
Hello.
Hey, the game was a little scarce today, but... So I see. Look at the bunnies I
found. Hi. Hello.
Boy,
that water cold.
I didn't know he had company.
This is Anne and Mary, two lost souls I found wandering in the woods.
This virtuoso here on the leather is Mark and Becky.
And this lovely little wood nymph here is my good friend Sarah.
Hank, if you expect to eat with us, you'd better get washed.
Probably been carrying those dirty rabbits around all day.
Exactly my plans. It's just what I was going to do, Sari.
You girls can join me if you want.
And we've got the largest bathtub in town.
Do you want your rubber duck?
Him? No, not now.
As you can see, girls, we're pretty informal around here.
You know, please don't mind me, ladies.
You know, I've seen it all before.
Anyway, I've got to get back to work.
You girls, you don't need to be embarrassed.
We've been together so long, we just sort of... You know, no modesty anymore.
That's okay.
Feel free.
Thanks. What the hell? I'm game for anything.
I'll bet you are.
You coming?
Why not?
I always did have a yen to bathe in a giant bathtub.
You'll like it.
Don't forget to wash the ring around the chug, girl.
I'm going up to the cabin to fix dinner.
All right, we'll be there in a little while. Okay.
Phew, I'm stuffed.
This is really delicious.
If I wouldn't know any better, I'd never believe this was rabbit.
Yeah, my old lady's a hell of a cook.
Thank you, baby.
I'm glad you liked it.
How do you folks manage to live in such a groovy place?
It's tax -deductible.
Well, no, really, actually, it's a summer boys' camp, and they use it three
months out of the year, and we use it the rest.
No one seems to care.
Well, what if somebody taxes your living room?
Aren't you breaking the law?
Law?
What law? There's only four of us.
And we never heard anything.
Like she said, we fixed it up. It's better now than it was before.
Well, how do you manage to buy food and clothing?
You know, like we make things. You know, I make belts and she makes candles.
We sell a few things, make a few bucks.
There's a tourist place in town. They like our things.
What are you chicks doing out here anyway?
Well, we're doing research for a term paper.
We're studying primitive man in our anthro course.
So we thought we'd come up here and have a look for ourselves.
What do you hope to find?
Well, maybe some old arrowheads or some pottery.
Whatever. Sounds more like a lark to me.
You're right. It's really just an excuse to get out of town.
Well, I'm glad you wound up at our place.
I think you may find it very interesting before you go.
What do you mean?
We have a phantom friend that visits us at night once in a while when we're
asleep.
Oh, what's he like?
Actually, we don't really know for sure.
We leave scraps of food out at night. Sometimes in the morning it's gone.
Sometimes?
Yeah, and what's really weird is that when he does pay us a visit, whoever it
is, he always leaves an old coin in place of the food we give him.
Yeah, this is one of them. It's like he's trying to pay us for the food.
And Lord knows we don't want to be paid for it, but these old coins bring us a
good price in the village and kind of helps us to keep body and soul together,
you know?
Especially so.
How long has this been going on?
As long as we've been here.
Over eight months now.
That sure sounds spooky.
You know, I bet it could be that old hermit we run into today.
What hermit?
Well, I think we ran into your phantom friend today, down by an old deserted
mill.
He's a little old man, very small, and he walks with a limp and a cane.
Do you think you could find it again? I mean, I'd really like to go see it in
the morning if it's okay with you.
Well, I'm pretty sure we could relocate it if you'd really like to come along.
Oh, yeah?
Well, I don't think so. He's too little. The thing I saw was at least eight feet
tall.
Don't pay any attention to her. She got up late one night to go potty, and she
swore she saw this huge creature disappearing into the woods.
You've got to picture this.
Here comes the monster.
Ah, there's Sarah. I've got you at any very point.
Very funny.
Honey, you still must have been dreaming.
Then how do you explain those huge footprints we saw the next morning?
I don't.
Hey, Hank, why don't you sing us a song?
Yeah.
Oh, do you play the guitar?
I'd love to hear you sing.
You would?
Sarah, could you give him a guitar, please?
Sure.
Sing her a song, dear. She'd love to hear you sing.
Go ahead.
Together without a care You know our lives are just a gun
In this gypsy mountain heaven Feels
the morning sun Gypsy mountain madness Running
through my brain Makes me do the things I do Lord, it makes me
feel insane
I talk to trees and kiss the ground and dance out in the rain.
The gypsy mountain madness makes my fields wake.
There's a place I know where we can go to play.
Where the winter snow falls gently on the day.
I'll show you the lakes and streams And in this gypsy
mountain heaven You'll have lovely dreams Gypsy
mountain madness Running through my brain Makes me
do the things I do Lord, it makes me feel insane I talk
treason Kiss the ground and dance out in the rain.
Gypsy mountain madness makes me feel swayed.
While we're living for tomorrow,
let's enjoy the day
in this gypsy...
Oh, brother.
Wow, that was
nice.
You know, the sun comes up earlier every morning.
I'm bushed.
Listen, do you girls, um, do you mind sharing? Not at all. Oh, no.
Okay, great.
I'll show you where it is.
Then I'll give our friends some dinner, just in case.
Don't forget your duck!
I'd love to hear you sing.
No. No.
You can't have him.
No, he's mine.
No. No. You can't have him.
I'd love to hear you sing.
What?
What's the matter?
I'm sorry, baby.
I didn't mean to wake you.
I guess I just... Do you love me?
No, I do.
Then love me now.
What's the matter with you? You've never acted like this before.
Don't say anything else. Just love me.
Love me Hank.
I love you
She said there were four of them.
Oh, one extra girl.
She wasn't there yesterday.
Hey, Pete, why don't we wait a day or two? Maybe she'll leave.
No, I'll do it right now while everybody's there.
Hey, Pete, the girl will recognize me.
Who said we intended to leave any witnesses?
You know, I...
I never killed a girl before.
I always use them for more pleasant diversions, you know.
Well, it'll be a new experience for you.
I'll tell you one thing.
I didn't spend seven years in stir just to let a bunch of hippies make trinkets
out of my coins.
Not sure.
Our coins, huh?
Oh, boy.
nice little place you got here.
We do all right.
Morning.
Yeah, we've been out a little bit.
Not having much luck, huh?
I think our luck is about to change.
Yeah,
what can we do for you guys?
Well, to start with, you can let us have the rest of the coins.
What coins?
The bag of coins you found at the old cabin.
I don't think we know what you're talking about, mister.
Hey! The rest of these coins.
Hey! Hold it!
You're not going anywhere.
What the hell took you so long money, but you said you could take care of
yourself I can't I Go tie him up
over there
You give him a hand.
Don't anybody try anything cute.
Blondie!
Go get some rope.
Come on.
want to know is where the rest of the coins are.
Go to hell.
I know where they are.
Where?
In an old mill by the dam where the hermit lives.
Anne and I were there yesterday.
All right, who the hell's Anne?
She's up at the cabin.
All right, I'm tired.
We're going to pay a little visit to Ann.
And then go see our little hermit friend.
You watch him.
Okay, Pete, I'll watch him real close
Yeah
Don't you move!
Hey, man.
Hey. God damn you, bastard.
Stop it, you animal.
You have to push. Hold it, precious.
We don't have all day.
Leave her, pig.
Over there, sweetheart.
You're nothing but an animal. Leave me alone.
Take it out.
I said move.
All right, move.
All right, move.
All right.
What do you want those lousy old coins for anyway?
Those lousy old... Hold it, come back.
Run, Mary, run!
You over there!
All right, now when she comes back, she's going to bring her playmates with
Now time and my patience are running thin, precious.
Now move.
Move! I'm going.
Oh, baby, it tastes so good,
I hate to put it down.
Mama, please, just grab the one rope.
Pull.
I got it, I got it. Okay.
Ha, ha, ha.
What's going on?
on deck.
Hurry now, hurry now. Pardon, pardon.
You stay away from me.
Oh, my God. What are you... What are you watching?
You stay away from me.
You stay away from me. Leave me alone, you. Leave me alone, you.
Leave me alone.
Leave me alone.
Oh, my
God. Oh,
my God. Oh,
my God.
Looks like every bone in his body is broken.
What could have done it?
My friend, Dan!
