Okay. Six to the nine.

Nine to the seven.

There's a deuce.

Acey, jack.

Ooh, ace, king.

That's a dollar.

Now I know why he wears the green glasses. He used to do poker in Vegas.

Yeah, well, if you want to play with the big boys there, Janet, you've got to

take the heat.

Those better not be seconds coming off that deck.

I give you no seconds, only thirds. I give the seconds to Blake.

What does he mean, Matt?

Blake, just Antioch.

Kermit's never been out of the precinct. Vegas is too rich for his blood. Can't

beat the odds at the casino. It's only on the computer.

This apartment isn't in bad shape.

I thought there'd be incense burning.

What?

Your father's influenced.

What, I should wear a shallown robe to work and carry a three -sectional staff

instead of a gun?

Take your foot out of your mouth, Detective Morgan, and bet.

You've got to be a conscious shot.

One minute, you've got Captain Blaisdell here.

Oh, man, tough cop.

Next minute, you got Cain.

He was even tougher.

Don't let the philosophical quips fool you.

I've seen him take up five guys and not even work out a sweat.

Piazza. That's kind of weird.

What do you think is weird?

Yeah, his hair, the way he dresses, the way he looks.

Isn't that what we're supposed to be here to protect? The length of your

the way you dress, freedom of speech?

I thought we were here to play cards.

When my father walks in a room, it's very subtle. It's like a blind being

raised, light coming in.

Name of the game is five -card stud, dollar ante.

Take him away.

Peter.

Ariel, how'd you find me? They told me the precinct where you lived.

Boy's not out, eh?

Hi, guys.

How's it going, Ariel? Hi.

Is there something wrong?

My father?

I don't know. He was supposed to teach me a kung fu class.

I couldn't get in. His building was locked.

It's never locked.

I got scared.

Kermit. Keep the game going.

Maybe he had a hot date.

What is it?

I'm not sure.

But he left it for me to see.

The grandson of Kwai Chang Kane walks out of the past.

But I want to fight.

So did your great -grandfather when he was your age.

He teaches his son wisdom at a Shaolin temple.

An evil force destroyed that temple. Father and son each believed the other

perished.

Fifteen years later, they were reunited.

Now Kane faced new challenges.

And his son grew up.

Look, I'm not my father. I don't do kung fu. I'm a cop. That's who I am. That's

what I do.

I am game.

I will help you.

Citywide, nothing.

Statewide, nothing.

We could be waiting for a ransom demand.

What has he got that any kidnapper's gonna want? He's got no money, no

possessions. All those riches he carries with him.

I know that, Peter.

Something from the past.

His past.

No, my past.

I can feel his current.

Have you got an international hookup in that thing? Does Madonna cruise? What

country do you want?

Start with China.

That's where the cane line started.

I'm going to find him, Peter.

You're not going to be alone again.

The ceremonies.

Celebration, not for mourning.

I will take you to see your mother's grave, if you wish.

I'm not ready.

Anyways, I wasn't thinking about mother.

I was thinking about you.

Me?

About what I would do if you weren't around anymore.

I have no intention of leaving this temple.

A month later, when I'm all grown up, when the lessons are finished.

Our lessons will never be finished, my son.

We will always have something to teach each other.

When you are married and have many children, people will...

say to you, who is that weird old man in the backyard meditating or playing the

flute or whatever?

And you will simply say, it's my dad.

Please, do not refer to me as Pop.

But you'll still be there.

If you want me to be.

I don't know what I'd do if I lost you as well as Mom.

When a man walks into the shade, his shadow vanishes.

I promise, I will always be in the light for you.

Your father's been kidnapped. I've got to do something about that. It's been

disturbing my sleep.

Riker. He didn't put up much of a fight.

Seems that he was willing to go with them.

Do you know who they are?

Radical militant group. Chinese.

That's what the word is held in the streets.

The streets of Vienna and Paris.

What are you talking about?

Intelligent sources.

They didn't tell me much, just that the kidnapping was done by a professional.

Someone that knew your father.

That's why I'm here.

You may be next.

So that's it. You're just going to tell me my father's been taken and you're

going to walk away?

I don't get involved in other people's problems any longer.

It usually proves hazardous to my health.

My father once saved your life.

How long do I have to carry that debt?

Until it's repaid.

Good answer.

I can put another dragon swing together.

Would Stedman join us?

Now we can ask him.

But even if we do round up the troops, we don't know where they've taken your

father. Just that he's out of the country.

Could you move a little bit to the right, please?

Hello, Kwai Chang Ki.

I should kill you for Tan's memory.

But you will not.

You did the world a favor.

But you will come with me now to see the old man.

You have not harmed him.

He's alive.

Suppose I refuse to go.

He dies.

You know me, Gabe.

I like to keep things simple.

Shall we go?

Nice shooting.

Yeah, you too. They got away, huh?

Yeah.

They'll be back.

We don't have much time. Let's go.

Where are we going?

To round up your dragon's wing.

This building used to belong to the university.

I don't know what happened to the F, so now it spells rat house.

You're a cop, I'm an ex -mercenary.

We should feel right at home here.

Caught some rats in our time, haven't we?

I bought the apartment on the third floor.

Stedman runs the pub.

I didn't think you and he liked each other.

We respect each other.

That's more important.

Gotta make a few phone calls.

Oh.

If any of your contacts know what that means.

All right.

Now, tell Steadman what's happened.

He's not here to talk to his daughter.

I want to know what she looks like.

Won't have any trouble finding her.

This body's yours if you want it. Come and get it.

Oh, he looked beefy. Fancy your chances, love.

No.

All right, baby, let's go. All right. Whoa.

Whoa.

Did it hurt?

The trick, as Stedman would say... Is not minding.

Is this a nightly game you play?

Yeah, a crowd loves it, but my dad doesn't really approve.

How do you know him, anyway?

Well, he helped my father and I rescue a girl from marauders threatening a small

town some time ago.

Dragon's Wing. You're Peter Kane.

That's right.

So you know about me.

I know two things about you. You're Stedman's daughter, and you've got a

Anything else that's interesting?

Yeah. I like to fight.

I like to make love.

Pizza and diamonds are high on my list of priorities, and I don't suffer fools

or cowards easily.

Try to remember that. I need some help. I need another dragon swing.

He won't do it.

Let's find out. Where is he?

Now then, Riker, any good reason why we should go through with this?

Pride, loyalty, integrity.

Oh, those old things.

Cain saved my life once.

Then he's your responsibility.

Does someone have to save your life before you risk it?

You have a persuasive turn of phrase.

With that, your charm, and some AK -47s, how can we do this?

How indeed.

So Riker says that you knew about my father being kidnapped. Why wouldn't you

let me know?

Thanks.

Knew about the second kidnapping by this fanatical group, not about your father.

The second kidnapping?

My sources say that the first kidnapping would change the course of history, but

we don't know who it is.

The circus have picked up some coded letters, DL.

What does that mean to you?

Disabled list.

Baseball.

Well, my frame of reference may not be as international as yours.

What's the circus got to do with my father?

The circus?

A rather charming euphemism for the British Secret Service, am I fixed?

I have one name.

Easy.

Does that mean anything to you, Stedman?

Sounds like a disastrous recipe I once used for shepherd's pie.

My father is sitting in darkness somewhere, maybe alone, silenced around

You can see that, can you?

Sometimes I think I can see things like my father can.

Then I just realize they're all images, fragments of nightmares.

We all have those.

And there's no doubt that that's exactly where Cain is at this moment.

Hurt.

And in darkness.

There'll be an old colleague of mine we need to talk to.

He'll know more about this mission than anyone else.

Does that mean you'll join us?

Wouldn't be dragon's wing if I didn't.

You can count me in.

Out of the question.

We can argue about that later. We're always doing this.

I always win.

There's a party at the ambassador's house tomorrow night.

Yes. I have an invitation, officer.

You can get us there on time.

I'll have a jet waiting at the airport in exactly two hours.

Blimey, where is this party, anyway?

London, England.

Tally -ho.

Kermit, you got anything?

Lee, gee, it's a fruit.

It's a town in the Bale province of China.

It's a move in Mahjong. It's a form of malaria.

Probably a rare postage stamp for Indochina.

My porcelain teacup my mother is searching for.

So nothing. Keep searching.

It's what I do.

It's in here, Peter.

One billion bits of information. Just got to keep on looking.

You know, maybe it's not in any computer information at all because it's

something very personal.

Is everything all right with your father?

Sure. Yeah, oh, he was out walking with the ancients.

Ariel's emotions get a little ragged sometimes.

Well, good. The Kilpatrick file is yours as of tomorrow.

Actually, Chief, could you give that to Scalini? I'm a little backed up right

now.

Okay.

Catch up, Detective.

There it is.

The Liji.

The symbol of the Dalai Lama. D -L, that's it. The Dalai Lama.

Deadman, that's it. That's the answer.

I'll cover your back with the chief as long

as I can.

Take this.

What is that, an elephant handgun?

Gotta protect my discs.

Good luck, kid.

Keep looking for Lee G.

You need anything?

Modem me.

Brought an old friend to see you, sir.

What have you done to him?

I brought him out of exile.

He is a holy man.

Right now, he's a prisoner.

Just like you.

Why don't you get reacquainted?

Take your time.

Can you hear me?

My old friend.

If there's a little rarefied for a street cop, breathe deeply.

I think I'll mingle.

Who are you to see?

His name's Sterling. Works on a freelance basis for MI6.

More of a romantic adventurer than an agent. He's a bit of a rogue.

So he's not completely trustworthy.

Well, he's not exactly a saint.

What was your name again?

You might not live till the end of this party.

There was always that chance.

Mr. Shoe.

Oh, now, that is very, very interesting.

Why don't we leave and go somewhere cosy?

No -one will notice.

No, no, I can't do that.

The ambassador's a very old friend and I can't abandon him. Besides, you know

how I hate to leave a good party?

Particularly one that's about to liven up.

It is?

Yes.

No, don't tell me.

The British Secret Service, always on duty.

Will you be getting a top -secret coded signal from your pen or your title?

Neither. I had to give them both up. They kept going off at unfortunate

Yeah.

Cassie, be an angel and get us some champagne, eh?

Thank you.

Oops.

Sorry, old...

Good signal, now then. Where are you going, Mr. Shoeless? Find out.

Oh, not going in the front door?

Well, Mr. Monkton, so you're in the security business now, huh?

I have to make a living.

Enjoy yourself.

Who was that?

Dennis Monkton. They ran into him in Casablanca running arms to Gaddafi.

They don't ask for references at MI6? No, this is the ambassador's private

security force.

Which has been breached.

Monkton's here. There's no doubt about it.

I think we've just stepped into a hailstorm.

Do you want me to go and find out?

Oh, excuse me. Thank you.

Hi.

I'm going to kill him.

Dead man.

Oh, am I glad your name's on the guest list. You saved my life again.

We should learn to take greater care. Yes, but not tonight.

I do hope they clean up this mess.

Fill me in.

The Dalai Lama's been taken out of exile by a radical paramilitary group.

Mostly fanatics. It's my job to try and find them, but I've been running to dead

ends. And suddenly one of them turns up here at the ambassador's party.

That's because of us.

Us? A member of our party may be the target of an assassination.

Okay, keep looking. I'll follow this one. Alert your people.

And Steadman, I owe you another one.

Let's get them.

Now, what are you after in here, Mr. Shaw?

Time to settle an old debt.

Ambassador.

Sorry about that, Mr. Ambassador.

There's always one, isn't there, who doesn't know how to behave at parties.

Oh, is that for me?

Thank you very much.

What happened with your father?

Oh, he's looking for Sterling.

How'd you get along with Moncton?

Moncton? I've got him eating right out of my hand.

You know, he wants me to meet him in a pub in Shepherd's Bush after the party.

You might be a little late.

Mr. Rashid.

Yes, yes, indeed.

Catcher. You look like a million dollars. Thank you.

Thanks again, Stedman.

Well, I'm surprised to you here, Riker. I thought mercenaries only fought for

their own causes.

Unlike intelligence agents, I can pick the ones I like.

Now, Janice Monckton was a part of the Ambassador's security force this

Yes, I saw him. He's an arms dealer. Where is he?

Disappeared. No, no, no.

He wanted me to meet him later in the Faulkner pub.

He wouldn't have known I was a target.

I take it we're all in this mission together.

It's called a dragon swing.

Is it really?

Isn't that fascinating?

Shall we go?

Hello, love.

Told you I'd make it.

You left the ambassador's party in a hurry. Bit of excitement, was there?

Hello.

Well, I'd show you my badge and ID, but I don't think it would carry much weight

here in London.

But this is a 30 -inch special on your back feel free to check out the room

What do you want I

want the address to one of your business contacts their exact location

Quiet, Shankane. I pray they would not be able to find you.

You let them bring you here.

They showed me this.

Yes, but they would not have given this to you.

You familiar with geomancy?

Of course.

It says in the book of rites, ensure harmony in the middle, and heaven and

shall find their rightful places.

Remember? Yes.

I found it.

After all these years, Kwai Chang, I found it. The feng shui, the...

ancient scroll of Li Ji.

Possession.

But that scroll would command fear and give its owner

great power over the Chinese people.

That's right.

But I told them I could only speak to Kuai Chan Cain.

Tell him of its location.

That's why they brought you here.

I could think of...

Nothing else to do.

I should not have involved an old friend.

I would have come to you in any case.

Very touching.

Even if the old one speaks to me, gives me the location of the Liji,

I will not repeat it.

Great.

It's a nice place.

A little gothic for my taste, but fairly impregnable.

Belongs to this industrialist, Hovard.

He's a fanatic.

They're all fanatics. I can't trust them.

Tell me about this lychee.

It sounds like this Thai place I used to go to in Lower East Side.

Yeah, forget it.

Anyway, to them, you're talking some religious relic, some holy grail.

You are not one of them.

No.

I'm a soldier for hire.

I brought them what they needed.

There's a quaint little village of about a thousand souls just below us.

If you don't cooperate, Kane, these crazies are going to take as many lives

they have to.

I'm not going to be able to stop them.

You're speaking of mass murder.

Isn't that what all these religious wars are all about?

You have till morning.

Shadow Madaria, owned by Gunter Hovard, a wealthy industrialist. He's an

eccentric. He's also a fanatic.

He's got about $40 million worth of pictures and antiques in that shadow,

very large private security force protecting him.

A terrorist group.

That's what we believe, yeah. How do we get there?

By boat.

Just us?

Well, they're prepared to repel an army. They're not expecting a handful of

commandos.

I'll need time to set up my surprises.

Everything will be ready before dawn. Now, come on, take a look at this.

My best guess is that your father and the old man are being held in Hobart's

private rooms here.

So, Peter and Katja, you're here.

Riker, there.

Thedman, there. Okay? Where will you be?

Me?

I'm the cavalry.

Remember that day.

The first day I took you to the temple.

Yes, Kwai Chang.

This is the only temple of its kind in all of North America.

It is here that you may find the peace and...

clarity that you seek.

Nah. I couldn't stand solitude.

Discipline.

Discipline is merely habit.

Solitude is something you carry deep within the core of your being.

You are at war with yourself.

How long has it been since the death of your wife?

Three months.

The grief that you feel must be dispelled so that it may have a chance

to metamorphosize into one.

Memories tinged with regret, then reflections filled with deep joy.

How old is your son?

Two years.

Two.

then is this not the place he should come, learn, and grow?

I can think of nowhere better.

Please, think about it.

If I can, I wish to give you something.

I'll try... I'll try to be

worthy of this gift.

It is nothing.

Speak to me further.

I have much to learn from you.

You are a teacher.

No.

You will come to understand that.

I was greatly saddened when I learned about the destruction

of your temple.

Beautiful Silam temple.

Do not talk.

Conserve your strength.

Are you okay?

He's in there.

Well, we'll just have to get him out.

Won't we?

What are you doing here?

You don't know my father. The Dalai Lama's just a name to you.

You're gonna risk your life.

Because of Stedman?

Maybe because of you.

Well, you don't know me either.

When this is all over, can we change that?

Count on it.

You do walk lightly.

I always walk lightly.

The sneeze will set some of these things off.

I'll remember that.

Aren't we a little long in the tooth for this sort of excitement?

There's nothing to stop us from walking away from the mission right now.

Only pride, loyalty, integrity.

Oh, those old things.

Once more into the breach, eh?

Why not?

Glad we're together on this one.

Likewise.

Excuse me.

Pardon me.

Now then, here's your first surprise.

What do we do now?

We wait here.

I'll be covering your back.

There we go.

Good luck.

And to you.

I want to.

Time's run out, King.

The lychee.

Has he told you the location?

It is like the Holy Grail.

It exists only in the minds and hearts of men.

That is where you must look for it.

That's too bad.

Tally ho.

Come on, beat her.

I don't think so.

Oh, Kermit.

Whoa.

Peter.

Keep going. I'm right behind you.

You okay?

You're crazy to come back, will be said.

Loyalty, remember?

What? What?

This is a good time to say thank you.

What for?

Coming back for me.

For you to come back for me?

I would now.

Ah!

Oh!

Champagne for everyone.

This is a private party. Who can an old spy join in?

Did you come by boat?

Helicopter.

Your father's not here.

He's gone to escort the Dalai Lama back to his new place of exile.

Jesus.

Bye.

Three slightly battered but unbowed war horses.

And to the fact that we are still alive.

I'll ring to that.

Pop? Pop, you in there?

With a fine dragon swing you made myself.

The next time you decide to allow yourself to be kidnapped,

Swing by the precinct and pick me up with you.

A worthwhile suggestion.
