Original subtitles

- Previously on Heartland. - (Amy) In the future,

I promise to try not to spare you

from those tough conversations.

- (Ashley) What should our first date be?

- We could hop in my plane.

Go up and watch the sunset together.

- What are we waiting for?

- (River) Why do you want to be a flag girl?

- (Katie) I just wanted to try out

because I wanted you to see that you made a mistake about me.

- We need someone like you on the team.

Welcome to the Hudson Wilds.

- (Lisa) We're not replacing Tim.

- But we got a good thing going.

I don't want to pick a bad apple.

- You will know them when you see them if you're willing

to keep your eyes open.

(soft music)

(tense music)

(horse snorting)

(hammering)

- Hey, neighbour.

- Whoa!

Gracie, what the heck?

- Sorry.

I'm on patrol.

- Uh, patrol for what exactly?

- Got any cattle missing?

- Not that I know of.

- Well, we do.

I think we have a wolf in our midst.

- Oh. OK, then.

Uh, I have to go to a meeting when I finish this,

and then I'll check on the herd and report back to you.

- That's real neighbourly of you.

- No problem.

- Just like the way you returned my phone the other day.

I'm sure it's not related, but shortly after that,

a little bird got into Nathan's head

about some grain we had on site.

Well, that bird will be happy to know she doesn't have

to ruffle any more feathers.

It's all taken care of.

Later, chickadee.

(tense music)

(adventurous music)

- All right, just try to hold that flag

a little bit straighter.

Looks good.

OK, just make sure you keep your reins nice and even.

There you go. That's better!

- She's getting the hang of it. - Yeah.

(approaching vehicle)

- You expecting anybody?

- No. Let's go check it out.

- Ah.

(man sighs)

(vehicle door shuts)

- Surprise!

- What?

- Nathan, right? - (Nathan) Uh-huh.

- I've heard a lot about you.

- Um, Ashley.

What are you guys doing here?

- Well, we had some vacation time

and a week off from the kids,

so we thought, why not go on a little adventure?

- In Hudson? - (Caleb) I'm super excited!

I just got some whitewater rafting tickets on Raven River.

- Raven River?

I almost drowned there. Have fun!

- Seriously?

- We will be fine, though.

- We just wanted to say hi,

but maybe you can join us, you know?

Safety in numbers.

- Oh, that's... - Oh, well, we're, um,

we're actually headed up to Pike River for the weekend.

Nathan's going to help me with a horse.

- Yeah.

- I have always wanted to go to Pike River!

Come on, let's go do that, Caleb.

- Uh... - Oh, uh, I'm--

We're going to be working the whole time.

- We can explore the town, go on some hikes.

- What about rafting? - Exactly!

No rapids.

And we can hang out in the evening.

- We were just about to go and drop Lyndy off.

- It's a super long drive, so we should probably get off.

- Now you won't have to!

Caleb can fly us there.

- I can?

- Of course!

OK, this is a brilliant plan.

What do you say?

Double date getaway?

(intriguing music)

("Dreamer" by Jenn Grant)

- โ™ช And at the break of day โ™ช

โ™ช You sank into โ™ช

- โ™ช Your dream โ™ช

โ™ช You dreamer โ™ช

- โ™ช You dreamer โ™ช

โ™ช You dreamer โ™ช

(bright music)

(plane humming)

(indistinct chatter)

(water rushing)

- Thanks for letting us stay here, Dale.

- No problem.

Cabin sleeps four.

- Hey, Amy said there's a cedar hot tub?

- I built it myself.

Wood-burning. - Nice.

- I'll take that over a freezing cold river paddle

any day.

(Caleb sighs) (Amy laughs)

- (softly) Oh, wild horses!

- (Amy) Oh, wow. Deja vu. (neighing)

My family was friends with the man

who used to own the place next door.

- Oh, I know all about you saving

Will Burner's wild horses.

You're quite the legend around here.

- Oh, I don't know about that.

- Well, everyone says you're the best person to train

my search and rescue team.

Well, get yourselves settled,

and I'll meet you by the barn when you're ready.

(receding footsteps)

- Let's get settled, legend.

- Ooh, a fireplace. - Hey, hey, hey!

(both laugh) An old-timey pizza oven!

- Uh, I don't think that's what it is.

- Well, it will be tonight. - Heh.

Caleb, look at that! (Amy sighs)

My grandma used to have one of these.

- Oh, OK. One bed.

- Well, Dale said it sleeps four.

Is there another room over there?

- Uh, yeah, there's one here.

And it's the bathroom.

- So we're all in one bedroom.

(door shuts)

- Oh, well, we'll be spending most of our time outdoors,

and this will be a crash pad.

We'll take the pull-out. (Caleb chuckles)

- Why don't you go ahead and get unpacked?

I, uh, need a few minutes.

(Ashley sighs)

- I told you not to have that second cup of coffee!

(bathroom door opens and shuts)

(adventurous music)

- You're doing all right!

- (River) Stay in formation! - Can you grab that for me?

- Come on, Katie! Pick it up!

- Good job, everybody! Keep it up!

- Stay with me, OK? Let's go! - (Katie) Yeah.

- Good job.

Come in. - Let's go! Come on!

(indistinct speaking)

- Hey, watch it! Katie! Whoa! (neighing)

- Whoa!

I said to speed up! You can't do this

at a trot when we're at a lope.

You do know the difference between--

- Yes, I know the difference. (Katie sighs)

I just...

I get nervous when we all get so close.

- We're meant to be entertaining, Katie.

That means riding fast in tight formation.

You need to get with the program!

OK, reset and start from the top!

- (woman) They're in that stall over there.

Let's go, let's go. - Yeah.

- Yeah.

(woman speaking indistinctly)

(Nathan sighs)

- I'm sorry for the way our trip is turning out.

- Oh, you mean how our romantic getaway

now involves sharing a bedroom with Caleb and Ashley?

- Yeah, that and one bathroom. - Mm-hmm.

Maybe we could get a spot at that motel in town.

(soft music)

(Ty sighs) - All right.

Oh, thank you. - You're welcome.

- All right. (Amy chuckles)

Comfy? - Mm-hmm.

(music fades out)

Uh, no.

No, we can't stay there. - It looked pretty decent.

- No, it's just, I don't...

Caleb and Ashley will be insulted,

and it's just a couple nights.

Besides, we've got plenty of romantic getaways

in our future. - Ah.

I like the sound of that. - Hey, Dale.

- Here he is.

Ernie.

(Ernie snorting)

Didn't quite have what it took to be a barrel racer,

but he's sure-footed and eager to please.

- Well, those are good qualities

for a search and rescue horse.

- Yep.

Just hasn't spent much time outside of an arena.

- OK. Well, we'll get him used to the elements.

Where's his partner at?

- Oh, that'd be old Buster there.

- Hmm. Why aren't they penned up together?

- Well, I just retired his partner.

He teamed up with him his entire career.

- So he doesn't want a new partner yet, huh?

- Or a pen mate, apparently.

He won't let her any near the hay or the water.

I hope once you can get them working as a team,

they can start staying together.

Well, Buster's scent trained, so he's definitely the leader.

- (Nathan) Hmm. - There you go.

- OK. Thanks.

- Thank you. - Yeah.

- Scent trained? Is that a thing?

- Some people think so.

- (Nathan) All right.

(neighs)

Hey. (neighs)

(soft music)

(indistinct conversation)

- Hey!

First rodeo's coming up quick.

You really need to up your speed and control.

Anyway, um, we're gonna go get bubble tea.

You should come.

- Oh, uh, sorry.

I've got plans.

- See you at next practice then, I guess.

- I can take Dodger home, get him unloaded

if you want to join them.

- Oh, uh, that's OK.

I've got a meeting with my writers group.

- Well, isn't that later this evening?

You could hang out with your flag team friends first.

(clattering in trailer)

(laughing) (indistinct chatter)

- They're not my friends.

- Ernie seems really out of his depth.

He's on high alert.

- Well, that's normal for an arena horse.

- Yeah... (Amy sighs)

It's OK.

Easy now, Ernie. - Whoa, whoa! Hey, buster!

(Ernie neighing)

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. (Buster neighs)

- (softly) Whoa, hey, hey.

Good? Good.

- Got him? - Yeah.

But Ernie's not the problem.

Buster's got some real aggression issues.

We should get them back up to the barn and work with them.

- Yeah.

(whoosh)

(soft music)

(neighing)

- You don't need to be afraid.

Hi. Hey.

Aren't they incredible?

(whoosh)

- Everything OK?

- Yeah.

- Hey, how'd the meeting at Garland Foods go?

(Lou sighs) - Not great.

Uh, before they agree to extend our contract,

they want to know how we plan to deal with

the rising challenges of the beef market.

- Same way as we always do.

We just keep on keeping on.

- Apparently, they need more assurance than that.

(Lou sighs) They want a detailed

one-year plan, including projections

for calving, inventory of the cattle

at every stage of the feeding cycle.

- Fred never made us do that.

- Fred is not running the show anymore.

And if they're going to re-up with us,

they want to know we have a safe supply

at a stable price.

- OK.

So any more good news? - Mm-hmm.

Gracie came by with a rifle.

- What?!

- She thinks a wolf got into their cattle.

- Oh.

Well, I better check on ours, then.

- You know, I could actually use

the fresh air before I tackle this.

Would you mind picking up Katie at her writing group?

- OK. Sure, no problem.

I'll grab a bite at Maggie's while I'm in town then.

- OK.

(sighs)

(pensive music)

(snorting and mooing)

(mooing)

(tapping)

(phone line trilling)

- (over phone) Hey, it's Gracie.

You know what to do.

- Hey, Gracie, I'm out here looking at our herd.

All accounted for.

(all laughing)

- (Ashley) Oh, this is so surreal.

- (Amy) I know. This place is magical.

- No, I mean, the fact that the three of us

are all here together.

- (Amy) Four of us.

- Oh, yeah, of course, but I meant--

- It's OK.

I know you guys have been friends for a long time.

- Well, we've known each other for a long time.

- Yeah, actually, the friend part took a little while.

- Yeah. Well, it was worth it.

You know, Amy even sang at our wedding.

- (Caleb) Best wedding ever.

And you were the most beautiful bride.

- Aw, you were a dashing groom. (Caleb chuckles)

Except for your beat-up face.

- (Caleb) That's right. - Oh, I forgot!

- What? - Uh...

let's just say my bachelor party went

a little off the rails and ended in a bar brawl.

- Uh, no!

It ended with my mom and I

bailing you and Ty out of jail.

(others laughing)

- Yeah, Ty really had my back that night.

- (Amy) Wait a minute, didn't you lose

my dad's rodeo trophy that night?

- Yeah, that's right!

I thought Tim was going to kill us.

- Oh, he was!

- (Ashley) You would have lost for sure.

- (Caleb) Mm-hmm! (others laughing)

(soft music)

(metallic thud)

(honking)

(metallic clank)

(metallic clank) (man grunts)

(metallic clank)

(clanking) (grunting)

- HEY! THAT'S MY TRUCK!

- Wait, this is your truck?

- WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!

GET BACK HERE!

(pensive music)

(Caleb snoring)

(Ashley sighs)

- (softly) Go on your side. (Caleb groans)

You're going to wake everyone up.

(Caleb groans)

(Ashley sighs)

- (Nathan) Hey! Oh! Oh! Ah! (Ashley screams)

- (loudly) Sorry! (softly) Sorry.

(playful music)

Nathan was getting out of the naked, I mean, shower.

I didn't see anything. Well, just a little.

He was wearing a towel.

Sort of.

- It's OK, Ash.

You didn't know.

- For the record, I totally approve.

(Amy sighs)

- I can't believe you caught him in the act!

- Well, I didn't exactly catch him.

He took off like a coward.

- Probably better for everyone

that this guy escaped your wrath.

- Well, except I'm stuck with a busted-up truck.

I'm heading into Archie's to get an estimate right now.

- All right.

Oh, hey, I thought Grandpa was driving you to practise.

- Uh, I'm not going.

- (Lou) Why not? (door shuts)

- I work today.

- Yeah, the late shift. You have plenty of time.

- I need a day away from it.

- Katie, you made a commitment.

- They're too busy flirting with cowboys

to even notice I'm missing.

Except for River, who just rides me all practice.

- OK. That's not cool.

But skipping out isn't going to solve anything.

You need to deal with this River girl head on.

You worked hard to get a spot on that team.

- Fine. I'll get GG to drop me off.

- All right. Atta girl.

- Whoa, whoa, whoa!

I told you Buster doesn't like Ernie in his pen.

- Yeah, he's made that clear.

- Yeah. He was pretty aggressive with him yesterday.

- OK, so what's the plan?

- Well, hooking them in this harness

will force them to work together.

- Good luck with that.

Buster's one stubborn son of a gun.

(horse snorting)

(tense music)

(insects chirring)

- Come on, let's go.

- Uh, where are we going?

- To find that wolf.

First, I have to teach you what to do when we face it down.

(Lou sighs) - OK, I'm up to my eyeballs.

- OK, whatever you're working on, it can wait.

If it's killing my cows, yours are next.

- Come on, we need to protect our herds.

(Lou sighs)

- OK.

I'll get my grandpa's rifle. - OK.

(soft music playing over speakers)

- Hey, I'll get a mocha.

(whispers) Hold the coffee.

- So you want a hot chocolate. - Shh!

And, uh, no whipped cream. I have an image to protect.

- OK.

(tense music)

- Vandalize any vehicles lately?

No, you don't!

(dramatic music)

GET BACK HERE!

YOU OWE ME!

- Come on, old man.

It's not worth the heart attack.

- Hey, I changed my mind.

I want to run that formation one more time.

- I have to get to work.

- Yeah, but you're the one who keeps missing the cross.

You're not keeping up, and-- - Yes, I know.

You've made that abundantly clear

all practice in front of everyone.

- Yeah, it's called coaching.

- No, you're trying to show me up and make me

feel like I don't belong.

(River scoffs) - That's ridiculous.

- OK, well, I am doing the best I can.

But clearly, nothing is ever good enough.

So why don't you just kick me off?

Or maybe you're trying to make me quit.

Is that it?

(soft music)

(horse neighs)

- (Amy) Come on, boys. Work together.

Good boys.

There you go.

Come on, Buster. Be the leader.

- (Nathan) All right, moment of truth.

- (Amy) Come on, Buster. - (Nathan) Hey.

- Good boys! There we go. - Hey! Nice.

- Nice work! (neighing)

Whoa. - Well, that's a start.

- Yeah!

- They kind of have to move together

when they're linked up, though.

- Oh, come on, you party pooper.

- Do you want to, uh, get the harness off,

then try and take them for another ride?

- Yeah. Actually, I know a spot

down by the river that we could take them.

- OK. - It's almost 1 o'clock!

You were supposed to be keeping track of time.

We have to go meet Caleb and Ashley.

You did that on purpose. - No...

- Yeah, you sure did. - I wouldn't do that.

- Come on, boys. - All right.

(gunshot) - Woo!

(Gracie laughs) You...

OK, I don't need to teach you how to shoot

one of those things after all.

- I know I look city, but I did grow up on a ranch.

- I got to quit underestimating you.

OK, scrap target practice.

Let's find that wolf.

- I only have so much time.

I got to get back to my desk.

- What's got you so snowed under?

- Garland Foods hasn't talked to you?

- About what?

- Seriously.

- Honestly, I have no idea what you're talking about.

(cell phone ringing)

I got to take this.

Hello?

Well, is he all right?

Yeah, I'll be right there. - Well, what's going on?

- I got to go. My dad had a fall.

Find that wolf, Lou.

(sighs)

- OK, boss.

On it.

(gunshot)

(light music)

(pensive music)

- (Amy) Are you nervous?

(whoosh) - (Ty) A little.

Mostly just excited.

- (Amy) Me too.

- (Nathan) Amy?

(whoosh) Amy?

Coming?

- Yeah.

(soft music)

(indistinct chatter)

- It'd be an excellent choice. - I know.

Hey, Amy. - Hey, guys.

- Hi!

Sorry we're late. Somebody wasn't keeping track of time.

- Nobody order hot dogs, because I say we roast weenies

and marshmallows tonight over the fire.

All right? - Yeah.

- You know, that reminds me of the bonfire parties

we used to have in high school.

- Yeah, like the one where you tried to steal my date?

- Uh, it didn't work out.

Amy ended up marrying him.

- Oh.

So you guys were crushing on the same guy, huh?

- Well, more than once, actually.

Next up was this cowboy

who rolled into town, Mr. Caleb O'Delicious.

- What were we thinking?!

- For the record, I think you ladies had very good taste.

- Eh... - (Ashley) Can you believe

he was actually more into Amy?

- That was a very long time ago.

- I'm sorry. We're probably boring you to tears

with our old stories. - Oh, no.

Luckily, I don't cry easy.

- (Ashley) OK, well, enough about us.

I want to hear how you two met.

- Um... You go.

- Uh, at Heartland. - Uh-huh.

- By chance, actually.

Not long after, I, uh,

I found her on the side of the road

on the way to Braeburn. - I had a flat tire.

- Oh. - Yeah. Luckily, we were headed

to the same working cow-horse competition, so...

gave her and her horse a lift.

- (Ashley) Wow.

You really are a knight in shining armour.

- Yeah, and he kept that armour on for quite a while, actually.

Sir Broods-A-Lot.

And in the end, wasn't it actually me

that changed your tire?

- Yeah. - Really?

- Yeah, sure was.

Actually, I met Caleb that weekend as well.

Saw him in Amy's motel room.

(chuckling)

(tense music)

- (Ashley) Oh, yeah?

- Yeah, and I am starving! Let's order.

Um, excuse me, would you tell me about the soup du jour?

- Have you moved at all from there today?

- Actually, I'm just getting started.

Gracie showed up and hauled me out

to look for that wolf, then abandoned me.

- What?!

- She said her dad had a fall.

- Oh...

Is he OK?

- I don't know, because, honestly,

I'm not even sure he really fell.

- Well, you think she'd lie about that?

- Maybe she's trying to take my eye off the ball.

I mean, Garland Foods must be talking to her

about their plan, too.

Or maybe this is her revenge

for me tipping off Nathan about the grain.

- Lou, you're slipping back into your old ways.

Careful how you handle this.

(Lou sighs)

I have to head back into town.

Archie's fixing my truck this afternoon,

and it's going to cost double what I thought.

- Make an insurance claim.

- And drive my premiums up? No thank you.

Oh, and I ran into that delinquent at Maggie's.

I tried to chase him down,

but he got away again, that coward.

- Hey, you seem hot.

You better be careful how you deal with that.

(Jack chuckles)

(intriguing music)

(dramatic music)

- You've got some nerve showing up here.

- I'm sorry, OK?

Here.

For the damage to your truck. - A hundred bucks?

You think that's gonna come close to covering my bill?

- Well, it's all I got, but I got a big payday

coming up, so I'll be good for the rest.

- What's your name?

- Dex.

Dex Cashman.

- Well, Dex Cashman, I'll be calling the cops

if you don't cover it all.

- Seriously? This is your fault, too.

- How do you see that?

- You were parked in the wrong spot.

That was customer parking for the pub,

and I didn't see you there.

- What's that got to do with anything?

- I thought it was someone else's truck!

- Well, you shouldn't be trashing anyone's truck!

- OK. OK.

Just don't call the cops, please.

I'll see what I can scrounge up.

Where are you going to be in, like, an hour?

- I'm going to Archie's garage right now.

I'll still be there in an hour.

- All right. I'll see you there.

- Hey.

I'll take the hundred bucks.

(Dex sighs)

- That soup was delicious, eh? Just the perfect amount of ham.

- Wow, you can't stop it about the soup.

- Well, I mean, it was just so good.

- Or you think that if you keep talking about the soup,

you can put off talking about the motel room.

- No. What?

I just, I went to visit Amy at the competition.

- And you stayed together in the same room.

- Absolutely not! I left later that very same night.

- Oh, you went all the way to Braeburn and back

just to hang out with Amy?

- Gosh. Nothing happened. I promise.

Look, we decided that we were better off as friends.

- Was something else on the table?

- No. Amy was very clear about that.

She sees me as her best friend and nothing more.

And look how happy she is with Nathan.

(Ashley scoffs) What?

- Do you hear yourself?

You say Amy wasn't interested.

But what about you? And what about now?

- Come on, Ash, I-- - You're not answering

my question. - No, no, I can explain. I can.

- You know what? Don't!

You had your chance.

I'm going to go buy groceries for tonight

and let you daydream about-- - I do not daydream about Amy.

- I was going to say split pea soup.

(soft music)

(Caleb sighs)

- Ash!

- Buster's behaving himself. - Yeah.

He's had quite the shift in attitude.

- Speaking of shifts,

Ashley sure did get quiet at lunch.

- Oh, gee. I wonder why.

- You think I got Caleb in trouble?

(Nathan chuckles) - Well... I don't know.

I just, it's like I told you.

Nothing happened that night.

He just was a little confused.

- I know. No further explanation needed.

- You sure? - Yes.

- Why do you keep asking? - I don't know.

We were talking about Braeburn.

All that talk about the working cow-horse competition

did give me some FOMO, though.

I miss them.

- Well, you should get back into it.

- No.

I got enough going on right now.

Hey, check it out.

I bet there's a cool view of the river from there.

(Nathan clucks)

(Amy sighs)

(water rushing)

- Hmm.

- Finally, some alone time together.

- Yeah, I'm really sorry

about all the hot tubs

and wiener roasts and lunches.

- Hey, I'm not brooding.

I'll take whatever time I can get with you.

(whoosh) (Amy gasps)

What? You OK?

- Yeah, I... I'm sorry.

I... (Amy sighs)

I just... I just need a minute.

Can you...

- Should I?

- Yeah, just, um...

Can you take Buster back and I'll...

I'll meet you there?

- OK.

You sure you're OK-- - I'm fine.

I am. - OK.

(receding footsteps)

- You know the other day when you asked me what I wanted?

If you would have asked me that back home,

I would have said that I need to know that we still want

the same things.

And now I know that we do.

You're the same girl that I fell in love with.

(Amy chuckles)

(sighs)

(birds chirping)

- Hey.

- Oh, shouldn't they be in a harness in here?

- They've come a really long way.

I... I think that we should give Buster a chance.

Ready?

- Yeah.

- (Amy) Come on, you guys.

(clucking)

- Hey!

Good boy, Buster.

Will you look at that!

Think it'll translate to working as partners?

- It's definitely something to build from.

- Well, good job, you guys.

These two may just work out after all.

(soft music)

(horse grumbling)

- So what's next?

- I think we let them settle here for tonight,

take them back out tomorrow.

Nathan, I... I'm sorry.

I... (Amy sighs)

At the gazebo, I...

I don't... I clammed up because...

- Did I do something wrong?

- No! (Amy sighs)

It's this place.

There's a lot of memories here for me, and...

well, the truth is, that gazebo...

that's where Ty and I decided to get married.

And so... - Oh.

I'm sorry.

- Don't be sorry. How could you have known that?

I wanted you to come.

I did. I...

I didn't know what kind of emotions

this place would stir up, and now...

and now that we're here, everywhere I look, I...

I see his ghost.

- I understand.

You, um...

Why don't you go back to the cabin

and use the walk to clear your head?

- Yeah.

- OK.

(receding footsteps)

(poignant music)

- River?

- OK, maybe I've been a little harsh.

- A little?

- I'm stressed out, OK?

- You're stressed? (Katie scoffs)

I'm the one who's new to all this.

- It's new to me, too.

Being the captain, it's my first year,

and I don't want it to look like we've taken a step back.

OK, Trish would love that.

- Who's Trish?

- Our old captain.

And if you think I'm harsh, you should have seen

the way that she spoke to me when I was a rookie.

- So if you know how it feels, then why are you doing it?

- Because it works!

But I'll say this.

You're coming along.

In the arena, at least.

- What does that mean?

- I want you to try and put in an effort with the girls, OK?

We're a team.

And you said you wanted to be a part of it, but...

you act like you're too good for us.

- Too good for you?

I don't feel good enough.

You're all so pretty and cool

with your perfect hair and clothes and makeup.

I don't fit in.

- Sorry, we're pretty?

Ever looked in a mirror?

(Katie chuckles)

No, you don't need those other things to fit in.

Just be yourself.

- So you're not kicking me off the team?

- You're not getting out of this that easy.

You're not quitting?

- You're not getting rid of me that easy either.

(both chuckle)

(insects chirring)

(horse grumbles)

(horse snorting)

(snarling)

- Hey!

Hey!

(wolf snarling)

(tense music)

(Lou grunts and gasps)

(wolf barks)

(gunshot) (wolf yelps)

(horse neighs)

- You OK?

(Lou exhales heavily) - Yeah.

Thank you.

- If I was as good a shot as you, I would have got him.

- Well, you scared him off!

Oh, that was close.

(Lou laughs)

You are the last person

I thought would come to my rescue.

- I told you we were going to get this wolf together.

- Yeah, I just thought you were tied up with your dad.

How is he?

- Not good.

He has a bad concussion.

Tough to manage for someone in his state.

I'm ashamed to admit that I...

thought you were lying to me.

- About my dad?

- And the wolf.

Garland Foods has asked for these projections for next year.

I thought you knew about it,

and you were trying to distract me.

(chuckles)

What?

(chuckles)

- You must think that I'm crazier

than an outhouse fly.

(both laugh)

- Well, you know, that's why I asked you

if Garland Foods had talked to you, because they will.

- Oh, I got our plan in early last week.

Yeah, we're neighbours, but you know,

I got to keep some things on my side of the fence.

Like my phone!

(horse snorting)

(horse snorts) (Lou chuckles)

(soft music)

- (softly) Crazier than an outhouse fly.

Yep.

(birds chirping)

(soft music)

- Hey, Ash. Did you pack the mayo?

- No. Sorry.

I forgot that you lather that on your hot dogs...

(softly) like some psychopath.

- Pardon?

(cell phone ringing)

- (Ashley) Nothing!

- It's my sister. I got to take this.

(cell phone ringing)

- Veggie dogs? Why did you give veggie dogs?

- It's what I'm having.

- OK, but you're not a vegetarian.

- It's what I'm craving.

Sometimes, people want different things

at different times.

You would understand that.

- Yeah. Yeah. OK.

Uh, I got to go home.

- (Ashley) What's wrong?

- Uh, my dad fell.

Concussion. - I'll come with you.

- No, it's OK.

You got to finish with the horses.

- Uh, I could fly you back,

but we're going to have to leave right away.

We got to get in the air before it's dark.

- Uh, sure. Yeah.

I'll get my stuff.

- Hey, I'll be back first thing in the morning.

- Take your time.

(sighs)

(rock music)

- You find the rest of my money?

- All I've got is, like, 30 bucks.

- Then we have a problem.

- No. I've got an idea.

Take my car.

(Jack chuckles)

- What would I do with that?

- You must have a grandkid who could use a starter ride.

- Gee, it looks like a death trap to me.

- Then sell it.

- I couldn't give it away.

- Well, it's all that I've got.

- Then like I said, we have a problem.

- You can't press charges.

Seriously, it'll screw everything up.

I'm a hockey player.

I won a junior championship last year.

- Well, good for you.

- No, listen, please! I just got drafted.

Rookie camp's coming up.

If you report this, they'll find out.

- You should have thought of that

before you trashed my truck.

- I told you, I thought it was someone else's.

This super creepy guy, he wouldn't leave one

of the waitresses alone.

He was seriously harassing her.

- Hmm.

I respect the chivalry.

Smashing up my truck ain't the answer,

so maybe you back off

on the vigilante justice next time.

- I appreciate the advice, but...

are you gonna press charges or not?

(soft music)

- Are you hungry?

- What?

- You're gonna buy me supper at Maggie's.

We'll be there in three minutes.

(truck door opens)

(truck door shuts)

- Sorry I have to split like this.

- It's OK, I understand.

You don't want me to come with you?

- It might be good for you to have

some time on your own here.

Sort through some of those feelings

that this place has stirred up for you.

- Yeah.

(kiss)

See you soon. - Yeah.

(plane humming)

(poignant music)

(sighs)

- Need anything else? - What's the tab at?

- Uh, $22.49.

- How much did you say you have?

- $30. - OK, then.

I'll have another soda.

- That's your third one!

- Oh, I wouldn't go there.

Seems like you're getting off light to me.

- We're nowhere near square yet.

- You haven't even finished this one yet.

- Be right back, GG.

- GG?

- Great-grandfather.

- Wow. You really are old.

- Yeah.

Yeah, I'm getting up there, all right.

Now, my wife has been on me to pull back on the ranch work

and hire some help.

I think I may have finally found someone.

- Me?

- You work off your debt

before you go to rookie camp.

- Seriously?

Fine.

But do I still have to pay for your burger?

- And the sodas.

Should leave just about enough for a tip.

(birds chirping)

(Amy sighs)

- You should know that nothing happened between Caleb and I.

- Not for lack of trying, anyway.

- He was going through a tough time, Ash.

- I'm not upset that he took a shot at you.

It's that he never mentioned it.

And now I have to stand here

and wonder if he still has feelings for you.

- He doesn't.

- How do you know that?

We decided that if we were going to go down this road again,

that there would be no secrets.

(soft music)

- Well, in other news, I think I pushed Nathan away.

- What?

- I've spent a lot of time here with Ty,

and I couldn't shut that out.

Might have been a mistake to bring Nathan here.

(plane humming)

(Nathan sighs)

(Nathan sighs)

(Caleb sighs)

(rattling)

(beeping)

- (Nathan) What was that?

Hey, hey, what's going on? - Just hang on a minute.

- What just happened?

- Mayday, mayday, mayday!

Ah, there's no radio signal.

- Oh, oh! Caleb, Caleb!

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see it, I see it!

Mayday, mayday, mayday!
