I'd sit on the front
porch with my crayons

and create a new world,

one that helped me deal with my
isolation and loneliness.

When I was coloring, I was free,

free to be anywhere I wanted,

free from jam.

I drew the things around me and
saw the world with new eyes.

But I really longed for someone
to play with, to talk to.

I needed a friend.

And then one day, it happened.

That was the day...I met Sy.
