Are They Meow Special. Today we'll look

back over the last three seasons at some
of the most memorable cats and people

I've ever had the chance to work with.

I know he looks like a cat, but I really
don't think he's a cat. What is he?

Maybe a dragon?

Why are you still holding your cat?

Because she's having fun.

No, she's not.

That's not fun. In the end, it's all
about helping the cats and their humans.

You're right in his face right now. And
there he goes.

I made it. You did make it.

I can't believe that she's sitting on
your lap. I mean, she's not a lap cat.

Did you just poop in the cat box, baby?

Oh, my God.

I know.

Woo. Woo.

Got it.

I help cats, man. That's what I do.

You have given me time back with our
daughter.

And it's because of you.

which cats made the cut, and which
people kept up with their work. Plus,

I personally check in with one of my
most difficult and talked about cases

It's all coming up on the My Cat From
Hell Where Are They Meow special.

So let's get started.

On season two, I met Josh and Tara and
their female cat, Larry.

When I first met Larry, she was hiding
behind a microwave, violent and

unpredictable, and causing a lot of
stress between the newly engaged Josh

Tara. Let's take a look.

I'm Josh. I'm Tara. Our relationship is
wonderful.

And we're engaged.

We named our girl cat a boy's name
because... It just fit her personality.

Larry attacks.

The crazy thing is she ambushes a lot.

Larry pees all over the house.

I'm constantly cleaning up after her.
I'm not going to walk down the aisle

our cat is no longer crazy.

Jackson, what's up, man? What's up? How
you doing? Nice to meet you. Hi.

Hey, good to meet you. Does she do with
teeth and claws? Yeah. Yeah.

She turned me into lunch meat.

Also, she sprays my entire apartment.

Oh, she's not big. I was surprised that
Larry wasn't spayed. There's no excuse.

Larry's not mean.

She's hormonal. Today is a get Larry
fixed day.

We're hoping that it calms her down.

Oh my God, she's adorable right now.

Larry's not peeing. She's a little more
flirtatious.

She's a better cat.

Hi, my lovey angel.

The idea is that when she is feeling
like a frisky little kitten, she's going

be tempted to do the behaviors that
she's been doing for three -plus years,

unless you're draining her energy out in
a positive way. This kind of toy here

is that natural way.

Finally. All because of you, big man.

Jackson is the hope of all crazy cats.

Larry put up a good fight the first time
I met her, but ultimately, it was Josh

and Tara's commitment to improving her
behavior that turned this microwave

-hiding cat into the playful, loving,
normal cat they always wanted.

Let's check in and see how they're doing
today.

Hi, Jackson. It's Josh and Tara from
season two. We've got married.

We went on our honeymoon. We came back.

And Larry is doing fabulous.

She doesn't bite.

Our ambush.

She's not hiding behind the microwave.

What would have happened if Jackson
didn't come in?

Well, according to you, we wouldn't have
gotten married.

What happened?

Before Jackson came, getting rid of
Larry was not only an option.

Sometimes it was the only thing on my
mind.

The biggest change that I saw in Larry
immediately.

was getting Larry Spade. She got calmer
and calmer. She got more friendly.

Now we have to play with her more.

There you go.

Yes! So she expends more energy, so she
has less energy to apply to attacking

people. She's gone through three feather
toys. She loves those.

Can I have it back?

Oh, see you later. Game time. Game's

She tore them all up, so it's a little
bit more expensive playing with Larry.

But it's definitely worth it. I'd rather
pay money buying cat toys than paying

emergency room bills.

Before Jackson was here, if I were to
try to kiss Larry on the head, my face

would need plastic surgery.

But now, want to watch me kiss the viper
on the head?

And I'm alive. Look.

No plastic surgery needed.

It's like being a snake charmer.

Probably the most impacting for me was
not having to clean up after her all the

time. Not having to clean the walls and,
you know, constantly scrub the carpets.

And it doesn't smell like pee in here
anymore.

There's no pee on the stove.

Yeah, so she hasn't peed on the counter.
She hasn't peed on the baseboard. She

hasn't marked the door.

She's a different cat.

She's nicer and sweeter and cuddlier,
and she'll jump up and let you pet her.

We're petting her together.

It's like unheard of.

We've actually been thinking about maybe
getting another cat for Larry to

hang out with. I would like to have
another cat for sure, or a dog.

Or a baby.

We'll start out with the dog first.

Maybe goldfish.

I'm glad everything there was happily
ever after.

Coming up, it's Team Bitten versus Team
Chompy. The cats do not get along. I've

never seen them get along. Ever. Ever.

And later, we head to the East Coast for
some serious cat -on -cat aggression.

We haven't been able to leave them
together for more than about ten

Olive does not want Pepper in her home.

She is, like, all murder all the time.

It's Kevin, Megan, and Quinn from Season
3. You came out to help us with our two

crazy cats, Chompy and Bitten.

Hey, hey, hey.

Lots changed since then.

Chompy is way more confident. She moves
around the space like she owns the

place. She's doing great.

Bitten has mellowed out quite a bit.

He's learned to take his energy out
during play and not on Chompy. Quinn has

learned to be calmer around the cats.

Quinn, say hi, Jackson. Hi, Jackson.

We actually have another cat in the
house named Tiny, and her and Bitten are

pretty much best friends. I was only
able to integrate her into the house

because of all the cat mojo that you
taught us, Jackson.

Here we have our very happy cat family.
Tiny in the front and then got Bitten

and Chompy there in the back.

So anyways, Jackson, thank you so much
for all the hard work you put in and all

the skills that you showed us and how to
deal with our animals.

It sure made our life easier with the
baby and the cat.

That's for sure. Yep, and we have news.
We're expecting our second child early

November, so we will pass the cat mojo
along to that one as well. Bye, Jackson.

Welcome back to the My Cat from Hell,
Where Are They Meow special.

Last year, I traveled to New York to
meet with Mike, Emily, and the two cats,

Olive and Pepper. And they lived in a
really small New York apartment, and

was always trying to kill Pepper around
every corner.

Here, take a look.

I'm Mike.

I'm Emily.

We live together in New York City, and
we are about to get married.

We adopted two cats, Pepper and Olive.

We haven't really been able to leave
them in the same room together.

Olive is the instigator.

She very clearly does not want Pepper in
her home.

She is like all murder all the time.

New York apartments are built in this
way to sort of

maximize living space.

Not an ideal layout for a cat. If one
wants the other dead, then there's no

escape route.

They can't be together at night either,
so Olive gets all upset that we're home

and not with her, so then she cries. You
know, pretty much every night, one of

us ends up on the couch.

My sad, empty bed, as Mike is on the
couch right now.

Ignore Olive completely. You have to
break this habit.

So I got Olive this big, slow -feeding
bowl.

The longer it takes Olive to finish her
food, the longer Pepper has to finish

her meal, walk away, and escape to a
place where Olive won't go after her.

is Kate.

Nice to meet you.

She is our catification person.

Kate is just a specialist in all things
related to cat furniture. We need to

live in small spaces creatively.

Yeah!

That's amazing.

So she comes running in here, and then
she has two exits. And we're not going

have to worry anymore about Pepper being
trapped.

Now Pepper has a lot more confidence
because she lives in a world full of

routes instead of death traps.

We are sleeping in the same bed just
about every night.

Which is great. I was waiting for that
one.

You know, we ignored Olive's crying,
like you suggested, which really helped.

You've, like, turned us into normal
people.

Thank you so, so, so, so much.

Mike and Emily are a perfect example of
a couple who did everything right in

terms of their homework, and that's why
they had the success that they did.

But did they keep it up? Let's see for
ourselves.

Hey, Jackson. It's Mike and Emily. And
thanks to you, Olive and Pepper are

getting along so much better.

Since the last time we saw Jackson, we
got married. We had an incredible

wedding.

We went on a great honeymoon in Europe,
and our parents watched the cats while

we were gone.

They actually said that they were really
good. So we were so happy to come home

and hear that they hadn't caused a
ruckus while we were gone. One thing

Jackson helped us realize is he noticed
right away that Pepper really liked

heights. And Olive really didn't. And
that was something I don't even think

ever really noticed before.

But it ended up being so helpful because
he put, you know, the cat towers in

where Pepper could get up high. He put
beds for her up high. And that has just

made a huge difference because she has a
whole little getaway all of her own.

Olive could care less about it. Olive
doesn't try to go there. So it's really

given Pepper the self -confidence that
she has a place that's really hers.

At our worst, we were using a broom to
keep the cats apart when they ate.

But we actually don't need any of that
anymore. They can eat pretty peacefully,

and we really don't have to intervene at
all. So that's been a huge improvement.

I think that Jackson's best piece of
homework for us was to get us to feed

cats together at every meal.

We absolutely love the feeding dish that
Jackson gave to us for Olive.

It slows her down a little bit so that
Pepper is able to finish her food, sort

of walk away and do her own thing. So I
think we are going to be using that

feeding dish forever.

One of the biggest stresses, I think,
before Jackson was here was that we

couldn't sleep in the same bed because
of the cats. Someone had to be on the

couch every night, which is just a
ridiculous way to live, especially when

you're engaged.

I have been up for over an hour while
the cats meow and scratch each other.

And that really hasn't been an issue
because of Jackson. It's really been a

difference in our lives.

Olive and Pepper are so much better now.

Everything is just a lot lower stress
level.

Everyone's a lot happier, and we're able
to spend a lot more time all together

in the same room.

It makes us feel better to know that
we're giving them the happiest life we

possibly can, and you can just tell
they're happier cats.

We wouldn't have met Jackson. I really
have no idea what we would have done. We

just weren't willing to consider giving
one of the cats away when we knew that

we could give them a good home if we
just worked at it. And so we worked

hard, and I think it's really paid off.

Jackson, thanks so much for your help.
It's really changed our lives for the

better. Thank you.

You see, miracles do happen.

So glad to see those two getting along.

Hi, Jackson.

Bobby and Inhei came and saw us about
Marco and Yuki. Marco being the cat who

just seemed to always be attacking Yuki.

It's been about a year now, and the
animals are still doing great. Marco and

Yuki almost never fight, and it's been a
huge change.

The clicker training was useful because
it allowed me to play with Marco without

being afraid of being cut up by him.

The clicker training allowed us to
distract Marco of Yuki.

And eventually it led to them learning
how to eat around each other.

That's Yuki being loving and sharing a
couch with Marco.

Over the past year, Marco has become
quite loving.

He's a lot more calm. He's a lot more
confident.

Good boy.

He doesn't attack us as we walk by.

This is how good it's gotten.

Jackson, I just want to say thank you so
much.

I have a relationship with Marco that I
never thought I would have.

You're totally awesome, and you've made
me a believer, and thank you so much.

In season two, we met Heather and Alan
and their cat, Ruby.

Now, when I first met them, Heather had
no relationship at all with Ruby, and on

top of that, Ruby was chasing away her
Pilates clients.

Let's take a look.

I teach Pilates in my living room.

And I have to get the cat and put her in
the bedroom so I can do my job. And she

attacks me all the time.

I am

terrified of Ruby.

And I'm afraid it's going to attack one
of my clients.

She's attacking me. I'm scared of her.
I'm hurt by it. I don't want to lose

clients. You've actually lost a client
because of Ruby?

Yeah. Heather's career depends on being
able to train people out of this house.

Is the hissing and growling, that's
normal?

Yeah. She's claiming the desk. She's
claiming the Pilates machine. She's

claiming the bed. These are all places
that are vertical.

If you look around, there's no other
place in this house that's vertical for

to claim.

I had this guy design this Pilates bed
for a cat.

What I figured was that our girlfriend
was just a little jealous. She knows

when she starts a session that Ruby will
sit on her bed and that the client will

go to the big bed and there's no
competition for space anymore.

You've got her Pilates bed going to the
clouds, up to the clouds, here to watch

birds, down again, and out.

She's now a welcome part of the Pilates
experience.

It just makes me feel, like, blessed.

I'm just adoring what I'm seeing right
now. Ruby's never laid on your stomach

before. Ever, ever, ever. She won't even
sit next to me. It was just like, you

do love me.

You do.

I was so excited.

That was Ruby then. But let's check in
on Ruby, Heather, and Alan today. See

they're doing. Hi, Jackson. It's Heather
and Alan. And last you saw us, we were

dealing with a cat from hell.

Before Jackson came into our lives, my
relationship with Ruby was great.

Oh, and Heather kind of had a different
relationship with Ruby.

We no longer fight over Ruby anymore.
It's been...

Absolutely fantastic.

Fantastic.

When Jackson first showed up, I was
like, what is he, like a Pied Piper

in to, like, play music or something?
The reason why it was so important for

to get Jackson in our house to help us
with Ruby was because I was having a

great chance of losing all my clients.

Heather's a great Pilates instructor.

The only problem is that she has this
cat that jumps on the table sometimes,

then I'm always afraid she's going to
attack my hands or scratch me or bite

Before, I didn't want Ruby anywhere near
my Pilates room.

And now, Ruby's the mascot.

She's in here so much, and everybody's
calling for her, and she still uses her

Pilates bed. My clients think the
Pilates bed is super cute. They actually

where's Ruby when they come in?

She is really just... Like, life's a
party now.

She's almost like a politician now. She
does her rounds, says, hey, good morning

to you, good morning to you, good to see
you.

So people expect it now, right?

That's kind of cute.

The fact that I can bring clients in
here at any time and not have to worry

about Ruby creating fear, I feel like
it's priceless, really.

There's something in all of the rooms in
the house for Ruby to be above

everything. So it allows her to see out
over the territory, so to speak. And I

think that's really made a big
difference as far as her attitude about

things. In the morning, she comes up,
and as soon as I walk into the kitchen

turn the lights on to make coffee or
something, she's up, she's talking,

rubbing her little head against my hands
and giving me kisses.

Like, you know, like she's giving me my
little good morning. Good morning. So

it's my little ritual.

I feel like they're more girlfriends
now.

Aw, thank you.

I'm all about sharing the love. I don't
have any problem with that. It's great.

Jackson, I just want to thank you so
much for making my life happy and stress

-free again.

And I want to thank you because when
she's peaceful, life is peaceful.

And so that's a big deal. I never
thought I would say I was not terrified

her.

But I'm not.

Man, I am glad to see that her job is
intact and she's got a four -legged

assistant welcoming her clients now.

Stella can be very destructive.

She's a master destructor, actually.

When I adopted Stella, I was in a
relationship, and we split up.

deal with Stella.

Well, it's a year later and things are
going really well.

One of the most important things that
Jackson taught us was how to bathe Oscar

and how to bathe him correctly.

We're still using the bathtub that
Jackson gave us and it's working really

Travis is the one who now gives Oscar
the bath.

Oscar doesn't hate them anymore.

Look at how cute this face is.

He's a whole different cat.

Like he's staying on my lap.

Yeah, for one, he's touching Diane.

And he has been for a year. He lets me
work. I can have conference calls when

doesn't whine.

He still likes to rest.

He's a pleasure to be around.

Now, he's very friendly.

He's a great cat.

That is the cutest thing I've ever seen.

Jackson, we just want to say thank you
for all your help. You've made a big

difference in our lives and Oscar's life
as well. Thank you so much. Thank you

Welcome back to the My Cat From Hell
Where Are They Meow special.

On season three, we met Melissa and her
cat, Stella.

Melissa was a cancer survivor who had
been through a lot in a short amount of

time. A double mastectomy, a breakup,
the death of her 18 -year -old cat,

and now dealing with Stella, who was
beating her up and drawing blood on a

basis. Let's see what happened.

My name's Melissa, and I live here with
my cat, Stella.

Two years ago, I went for my yearly
checkup, and they said that I had breast

cancer. The best thing that I could do
was to have a civil mastectomy.

Now I'm coming back to the world, and
yet I have this cat thing that keeps

pulling me back.

The biggest problem is when I'm working
at my desk, she jumps up and gets in my

face and starts nipping at me.

Ow, ow, ow!

Yeah, it's a common occurrence.

I had a boyfriend when I adopted her,
and we started our relationship.

And part of it was, I think, the
aggravation that came up between us over

cat. Hey,

Jackson, come in. How are you? What's
the worst that it's gotten with her?

Her drawing blood every day.

I think that there's a lot of
inappropriate play going on.

You're sending her mixed messages.

I'd like to see you get a kitty seal
that you can put right in the window

so that she has her place.

I'd like you to get her moving around
all over the place until she is pooped.

She's amazing at this, actually.

And again. Wow.

And another one. Oh, my God.

There you go.

Stella was reacting in this very
unpredictable, strange way around the

Now, here's the crazy part. Her old cat,
Mina's ashes, were sitting on that

desk. And I felt sure that Stella was
actually speaking to the situation and

telling Melissa to move forward. When I
put Mina's ashes into the water, it was

sad, and yet I was glad to release her.

Finally, I can get back on my feet and
start reclaiming my life. I'm feeling

great.

Letting go of Mina's ashes was crucial
for Melissa to be able to move forward

and develop a closer relationship with
Stella.

Let's see how these two are doing today.

Hi, Jackson. It's Melissa from season
three.

Stella had her second birthday this last
fall, and she's doing great.

Stella is getting more and more
confident and happier, relaxed, and

at ease.

Now things are so much better. I'm
moving ahead with my life. I am dating

and she really loves men. So I feel
confident whenever a guy comes over and

meets her, she's really on her best
behavior. She actually is all over them,

like they're catnip or something.

So it's kind of funny.

Before I met Jackson, Stella was a cat
who was very defensive in a very

aggressive way.

And now she's relaxed, playful, and it's
been a huge difference.

Hey, Stella, how's it going?

As far as my office time, it's a lot
better now.

Jackson taught me.

that it was important for me to set down
some boundaries and not let her on my

desk, but to give her an alternative,
which was this wonderful hammock that

Jackson recommended to be set up right
next to my desk at the window so that

could hang out with me while I was
working but not be in my face.

When Jackson was here, he taught me how
to play with her. And now I play with

Stella every day.

And once I started playing with her, her
attitude changed tremendously.

Looking a little sleepy. Ready for a
nap?

Looks like it's nap time for you.

Nice, chilled kitty.

We sort of liberated each other. I
liberated her from her cage, and she, in

lot of ways, has liberated me from some
past difficulties and, you know, helped

me make a transition out of that phase
of my life. It's been really, really

good. Thank you, Jackson. We really,
really appreciate you coming into our

and making our lives so much better.

Man, that just warms my heart. I love
seeing endings like that.

Since the last time you saw us.

The process continues to improve.

We still take him on walks every day.

He's been good. He's been happy. He's
been friendly and playful.

And no more pee. I almost forgot about
it because it's been so long since he

pee. Uh -huh. Outside of the litter box,
obviously.

And one more thing.

Oh, yes. He does not attack me anymore.
Not at all. So that's wonderful.

That means no arguments. And that makes
everyone happy.

But, yeah, now we've got a happy and
very healthy cat. And thank you for

Last season I met mother and daughter
Melissa and Mariah, and Melissa was

convinced that Mariah's cat, Miley, was
tormenting her two dogs, but Miley was

actually a really normal cat.

The human behavior in the house, not so
much.

One of the most bizarre cases I've ever
worked with. Take a look.

Hi, Melissa.

And I'm Mariah.

Her cat, Miley, tries to kill my dog.

Moving out would be my only option if
things don't change.

To even have the thought of her leaving,
you know, just breaks my heart.

How are you? Good. How are you? Good.
We've got two dogs in little sundresses

with their nails painted pink.

We have to feed them with a bottle. We
have to feed them with a fork because

they won't eat because they're so scared
of her.

I've never heard of that before.

So when you're out on the street, you
have the stroller. Why?

Because I don't want them to get germs.

They don't get animals. They don't get
any of it. They are trying to put these

animals in little baby -shaped boxes,
and it's not going to work. You're

that that makes her... Calm down.

That's not calm.

One of the things I'm sort of suspecting
with her is that she's not getting the

kind of play that she needs to get, and
that's why she's acting out on Madeline

so much, because Madeline presents
herself as a pretty cool toy.

Every time I give her this choice...

She's like, what is this that I get to
hunt?

So it has nothing to do with Madeline.

Madeline has to be on the floor moving
around, trying to find some self

-confidence, and that, standing up to
Miley, will mean that she won't get beat

up. And it did. It built her self
-esteem enough where now she can protect

herself. Kind of a cool thing when you
think about it, when you have that one

moment when Miley gets to make the
choice between dog and toy, and suddenly

chooses toy.

Now we can all live together in harmony,
and that's what I wanted.

Getting Melissa and Mariah to stop
treating their dogs and cats like babies

harder than I expected it to be. Let's
check in on them now and see where

they're at.

Hi, Jackson. It's Mariah. And Melissa.

And everything's going really well since
you've been here.

Me and my mom's relationship has
definitely improved.

She's realized that Miley is not out to
kill her dog.

Because Miley's not trying to kill
Madeline or Makita, I do have a better

relationship with her.

I'm learning to love her as much as my
dog, and so I do spend more time with

Miley, and we do have a better bond.

Miley no longer just has checkers and
toilet paper rolls as toys.

She has an entire room that's full of
cat condos and tents and teasers and

Her favorite toy is the string with the
mouse, but she'll just bring that to me

and drop it at my feet so I can play
fetch with her. One of the biggest

that Jackson made us realize is that the
dogs need more confidence.

Jackson had told my mom not to be
carrying the dogs everywhere, and she is

doing that. So that definitely has not
improved.

I really still am scared of germs. I
don't want them walking around. Last

Jackson was here, he wasn't too happy
about me washing the dog's feet when we

went outside for germs.

What is going on here?

So now the solution to that is I bought
them little slip -on disposable shoes,

and they're not bringing germs inside,
and I don't have to worry about them

getting sick.

Come on, Madeline.

Come on, Maddie. Let's go potty.

The disposable shoes are a perfect
solution because every time we go

can put them on their feet.

Come on.

Let's go to the bathroom.

And then you can just throw them away
and get a new pair each time.

One, two, three, four.

I know that Jackson had told us not to
dress the dog, but I still do it because

I don't have any little children at home
anymore.

Get your shirt on. One hand, the other
hand.

And I like to dress them.

And treat them like babies.

Here, Makita.

Put it on. Put it on. I personally
follow Jackson's advice and stop

Miley. But whenever my mom dresses her,
it kind of frustrates me because I see

how much Miley absolutely dislikes that.

Today is actually Miley's second
birthday, and we're going to have a

party celebration for her, and we're
really excited about it.

It's great to know that, you know, we
can have Miley's birthday party, and

everybody can be together, and there's
no fighting, you know, no scratching, no

Welcome back to the My Cat from Hell,
Where Are They Meow special.

Some of my toughest cases oftentimes
involve children because we're dealing

the next generation of cat guardians.
And I want these guys to be safe.

At the same time, I want to give them a
healthy respect for the pets they live

with. In the case of Jen and her son
Chris, we were dealing with Dina, whose

violent outbursts were not only
unpredictable, but they were really

to the then five -year -old Chris.

Dina goes through sporadic freak out. Be

My dad is so frustrated with the cat
that he's ready to see her go.

I have to be able to work in here.

Chris doesn't understand what's going
on. There's been times that he's tried

play with Dina, and she just lashes out.
She's scratched him already.

She had her first incident. She was in
the backyard.

And my son came running into the house
screaming, going, Mom, Zena's freaking

out. This is what you call the fit. Uh
-huh. Zena is now fully running all over

the room. This was post -traumatic
stress disorder. And there was something

really wrong with her eyes. The wild
card X factor here is I don't think she

see. I'd like you to see a specialist
and figure that out. The ophthalmologist

confirmed that it's cataract. She does
suffer from post -traumatic stress.

Because of that blindness, we got to
start playing with toys that maybe she

hear them coming. Got a little something
for you, buddy.

I got Chris his own cat daddy guitar
case, which it was just so much fun to

bring it in for him. You are the cat
teacher in the house.

Gina's on eye drops now, and things are
chilled. Now that we've met with

Jackson, she plays when she's supposed
to play.

I don't know that I could ask for
anything more.

This case really touched my heart, and
it's been over a year since the last

I checked in with Jen, Mike, and Chris.

So I figured I'd stop back in on these
guys today and see how things are going.

Hey, Jen.

Hey, long time no see. How you been?

How are things for you guys? I mean, how
is it? It's really good.

I mean, you know.

Obviously, PTSD is always going to be
there. She's always going to have that

trigger. But as long as we announce
ourselves, as long as we make sure that

hears us coming, she smells us coming,
life is normal.

There's no kissing.

She's much more trusting of her
surroundings because she knows that it's

to be okay. That's great.

I mean, honestly, it makes me want to
keep doing the job. It makes me want to

keep going to other people's houses to
know how it can turn out.

Chris, the first time I met you,
remember it was raining that day, and we

out to the yard, and we ran around in
circles, and you were telling me it was

raining like crazy that day.

And me and you were running around, and
we were being detectives, and you were

showing me what happened that day she
freaked out.

Where was Dina when she started hissing?
Let's do it together. Go.

All right, so we got these circles.
Okay, we're going in circles like that.

Okay, cool.

Pretend she's right here, okay? And
she's running around in circles.

Yep. Now, what did her ears look like?

They were like... Here, I'll hold this
for you. They were like, they were

backwards. Backwards, good.

Now, tell me about her eyes. What were
her eyes doing?

They were like this.

Yeah. Tell me about the noise she was
making. What noise?

Like that, right? So Chris and I are out
there doing our detective bit. We are

running around in circles in the pouring
rain, and he finally drops it on me.

Where were you with Gina?

Gina was, like, right over here.

And when I petted her, then I petted
Gina.

Ah, wait a minute. Now, you were petting
Gina.

Then you said, I want to pet Gina,
right?

Yes. Okay, so you came right over here.

And I pet Zena and then you start again.

That's when it started.

That one piece of information, he turned
around to play with his cat. Now

remember, this is the first time that
Zena had ever been in the backyard.

She's exploring in a very tentative way.
He goes to pet her. She probably didn't

see him coming. Maybe there was a loud
bang from a school bus or a delivery

truck. Bang! She goes crazy. And from
that moment on, her life changed.

Has she freaked out since then? Does she
run around in circles and yell like she

used to?

No. Wow.

That's cool.

She actually goes outside now.

Does she really? Yeah. When it's a nice
sunny day and we leave the door wide

open, she'll go sunbathe in the balcony,
just kind of walk around, sniff the

ivy, come back in the house and be like,
okay, I had my time.

Go figure. Yeah.

It's funny, I still have people, you
know, even who have seen the entire

and see how well she is at the end,
they're still, oh, well, you should have

just gotten rid of her because she was
crazy.

And think about how much money she's
cost you in vet bills. And I'm like, but

she's not that way anymore.

Right. There was something hurting her
inside of her head that she had no idea

what was going on.

It's fixed. She's okay. And they're
like, no, you know, she's just a ticking

time bomb. She'll go back to that. I'm
like.

Not as long as we keep doing what we're
doing. Right, right. As long as we show

her compassion and we show her that this
house is safe and that she's safe,

she's going to be okay.

Yeah, and she's proven that?

Oh, yeah. Okay. So clearly you guys have
kept up with a certain amount of

program, right? Right. Well, and Zena's
very good at telling us when we haven't

because she'll get a little more angsty.

And then I say, okay, you know, she's a
little more frustrated, so I know.

I need to be better about announcing
myself. I need to have more play time.

I need to have more, you know, this and
this, and let's go back to where we were

a year ago and do all the homework and
do all the steps. It doesn't take as

as it did the first time. That's great.

But we already know the steps to take.
That makes me feel great. Really, I

you deserve this level of peace. I'm
glad that you have it. Now, Chris, tell

something. You still got that guitar
case I gave you last time? You go grab

for me?

Hey. So you tell me, what's her favorite
things to play with now? She likes the

ones that she can hear.

Yeah. And see colorful lights. Very
nice.

It's like the rainbow.

Oh, wait, let me take a look here. So
there is my girl.

I'm actually seeing her play with the
light a little bit there. Can she see

better than she could before, or is it
still very limited?

It's still really limited, but she does
well with the vision that she has.

Right. Now, Chris, here's what I want
you to do. Pull out a toy out of there,

and let's go play with her.

I've heard some amazing things about
Zena since the last time I was here. No

more episodes whatsoever.

None of that post -traumatic stress of
her running around. And the most amazing

part of this is she's part of that
family.

Watching Chris play with Xena, I mean, I
wish I could put it into words. It's

bigger than I was blown away. It was a
huge moment. It's a backup, and watch

this cat enjoy life.

So this is her on a daily basis at this
point?

Yep.

It was so great that Jackson got to see
not just Zena's improvement over the

year, but that Jackson got to see how
much Chris has improved and how much

has matured and grown into an actual cat
daddy.

Oh.

You remember the first time you were
here and it was the whole thing where I

to dump her out of my chair in the
office?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I'll still come in there every once in a
blue moon and find her on the chair.

But now instead of hissing and growling
and stuff, she'll just kind of look up a

little bit and she'll just wander off.
This is just kind of just a further

testament to how well this has gone.

To see this happening right now, I can't
imagine seeing any better than this.

When I talk with people who are skeptics
of Jackson personally, I'm probably the

loudest voice saying, hey, you know,
this worked because I thought it worked.

worked in my house.

So I would absolutely say that Jackson
is the real deal.

I got something for you here before I

Following up with Zena today was a huge
blessing for me. You've got to remember,

when you work on a lot of cases,
sometimes you don't get to see the

And to be able to be reminded that the
work that you do has a ripple effect

goes just beyond making the cat happy.
But to have a child who's going to grow

up with a companion, seeing that helps
me keep going for the next case.
