I have one cat, Cashmere. She's a
domestic longhair, and she's four.

Cashmere's behavior has always been bad,
but when I moved in with Dean, it

She gets into fights with Dean's cat,
Darla, all the time.

I'm afraid to come home sometimes and
find a dead cat.

I think when Cashmere moved in, it was a
bit more than I bargained for.

I don't want Darla to get hurt.

We have such a good relationship, and
I'm worried that Cashmere is going to

that. Me too.

Having a cat that wants to hunt me down
and attack me all the time, this is

impacting our relationship.

I can't even think about that.

I'm walking up the driveway. I look
around me. I see dozens of cats. They're

everywhere. The smell that's outside
their home is thick with cat urine and

testosterone. They've got an out -of
-control feral colony.

Now, I haven't met Cashmere yet, but I'd
be really surprised if these guys

weren't causing problems for her.

So, guys, what's going on?

Cashmere, my cat, is, um, she's a
terror.

She attacks me on a regular basis.

She got me really bad last week.

She whips around and just bites the heck
out of me.

She's attacked Dean several times.

Kashmir almost took out his eye. Are you
kidding me? She got me across here. She

whipped around and got me in the face. I
was freaking out. Oh, my God.

Now, we're talking about the fact that
Dean has almost lost an eye. He had

down his face from just one attack from
Kashmir. I don't like what I'm hearing

at all at this point.

is always attacking Darla. Darla is
Dean's cat, but Darla cannot walk

the room without Cashmere chasing her
down. Man, okay.

I don't want something horrible to
happen.

right. Guys, as I was coming up here, I

saw quite a few cats.

How many ferals are there around here?

I think there's around ten or so. Yeah.

They multiply.

Gee, well, that makes the problem worse.
It's bad enough that Kashmir's got to

move into a house with another cat, but
to be surrounded by the ferals like this

is like moving into the Alamo. She's got
no territory, and maybe that's why

she's lashing out, whereas with Darla,
she's Deem's cat. She's lived here for

years, so she's not as threatened by the
feral population.

My worst fear is that Kashmir will
severely hurt Darla, like maybe even

her. Yeah, I don't want to tell her that
Kashmir's got to go.

It's getting very close to that.

You know, I have this fear that Dean's
going to be like, that's it. You know,

this just isn't working out. I can't
deal with you being devoted to a cat

this bad.

You know.

Dean, how are you feeling at this point?
Do you feel this way?

Yeah.

I'm concerned that it's, you know,
something really bad can happen.

Immediately. I was aware of the stakes
in this situation.

I mean, Brenda has been living with Dean
in his place for a year, and she's

afraid constantly that because of the
problems with Kashmir, she and Kashmir

going to be out the door. That's pretty
bad.

There's a lot of really concerning
things going on here.

I need to get up, take a look around
here, and see where the problem areas

While we got her in that position, I'm

afraid of her. And if you bring fear to
an animal, they will bring aggression or

fear right back at you.

because Brenda was so scared she was

over the top of cashmere's head. And
when you do that to a potentially

aggressive cat, she's going to laugh

i've seen brenda interact with cashmere
and of course it's time to see darla and

cashmere interact it's really important
for me to see the natural behavior

patterns that are going to emerge when
these cats have to deal with each other

Oh. And now, into a corner.

That's trouble.

She's basically cutting off... Anywhere
for her to escape.

Exactly. Darla's in a rock and a hard
place.

I know Jackson has to see how Kashmir
and Darla interact, but it's terrifying.

I'm scared for Darla.

Now that got pretty ugly, but if there's
one great big silver lining, it's in

Darla's inclination to go up. It's
pretty obvious we got Darla here who's a

dweller. And the good news here is
that's something I can work with. Your

homework is all about urban planning.
You're going to build a superhighway, a

place where the cats can go from A to B
without running into each other. That's

the superhighway.

We live in Los Angeles. It's a heavy
traffic area, so I want to approach that

concept with these two cats. Let's start
talking about all of the ways we can

approach the traffic inside to avoid
these attacks.

Also, in urban planning, I really want
you to do this exercise I call high

feeding. That is, I want you to have
Darla being fed on the counter and

below her on the floor. Now, what I want
to see is the elevator and that high

-rise coming down. Every time you feed
them, see how far you can push it.

Let's bring down this feeding elevator
just a little bit every day until we get

Darla on the floor with Kashmir. I can't
help but noticing that there's a very

distinct Moroccan vibe in here.

fluidity of your dancing to your

movement, when it came to Kashmir, was

From the constant threat of feral cats,

cats do, too.

Not good.

She's still attacking Darla whenever she
walks into the room.

I still have a hard time.

The fact that Cashmere can't leave Darla
alone.

I'm not feeling so certain Cashmere
should be living here.

We need to keep expanding Darla's

confidence. Now Cashmere's made a lot of
progress, but I know the most important

thing to Dean is Darla's safety. So for
Cashmere's sake, and for the sake of

Dean and Brenda's relationship, I've got
to show that these two cats can live

together.

under the bed.

Rio still is hiding under the bed, but
it's definitely improving.

Rio is coming down from upstairs because
Turbo is her social bridge. He's her

leader. She follows him. At the same
time, Turbo is coming downstairs more

Now we've got both cats coming
downstairs, and that's huge.

Ever since we put the litter boxes out,
there hasn't been one accident in the
