So, Pink is my cat.

Pink? She's eight. And how long have you
had her? I've had her since she was

like six months old.

Here's the thing. By the age of nine
weeks.

Cats learn pretty much socially
everything they need. So whatever

that age could have been traumatic. How
old was she the first time you were

like, oh, what's going on here?

It was probably pretty early on, like
maybe a year.

You've been dealing with this for seven
years?

I work for Found Animals Foundation, and
I know that taking on an animal, you

have to be responsible for them for the
lifetime.

I, you know, want to be that person for
Pink.

I love Katie's commitment to Pink, but
at the same time, I can't imagine what

it's doing to her and Amy's
relationship.

It's one thing to subject yourself to a
violent cat, but it's a whole other

ballgame when you factor in a loved one.
We want to move in together, and we

don't know how to do that.

I have a cat, Twiggle. He's a year old.

And because of Pink, we don't know how
that's going to happen.

Literally, the only thing that keeps you
from doing that is Pink. Yeah.

cat. And this is one of those places we

When I saw what Pink did today, I was,
you know, concerned for him, but...

What really popped up was twiggles
because if pink is like this, I'm sorry,

it's not going to work.

first big thing is changing your energy

around her. No more of the old nervous
and scared reactions that you had.

The vibe of fear that Katie puts out
about herself and her relationship with

Pink actually instigates aggression with
a cat like Pink. I also need you guys

to spend more time here. Yeah.

It's crucial.

The less social she is, the more she's
going to be totally overstimulated by

your presence, so she's going to bite
you. Got it. The other thing that I want

you to do is start playing with this
cat. So let's break out this toy right

here. We've got to get her energy out of
her, but in a safe way. So I presented

them with one of my wand toys. It's
interactive, but it keeps you safe at

same time. Her body and her mind have to
be grounded.

And all the things I gave you today are
ways to get this started.

I'm just really hoping that this works.

You know, this is really our last hope.

Pink. Now, Katie and Amy want to move in
together. They simply can't because of

So we basically have Pink playing around
the living room. That's beautiful.

But then, at the end of this, Katie just
puts her hand out to Pink's paw, and

Pink just does this.

One thing I did not like on video
homework was that I still saw Pink

out. So, great footage. I mean, good and

but we've got 20 % of work to do at this

on?

Oh, just today. He doesn't care about
nothing. Look at how relaxed he is.

We could not ask for a better cat to
meet Pink because he's so chill.

Twinkles is Amy's cat, and I love his
calm demeanor.

We're going to need that if we have any
hope of Amy and Katie moving in

together. We have to start introducing
these two cats, and that is my main goal

for today.

So what we're going to be doing today is
we're going to start the introduction

process between the two of them. I am
nervous about Pink attacking my little

boy.

I want to push it, and of course that's
what I always want to do. We're going to

use feeding on opposite sides of the
door. So we're going to have Katie with

Pink on one side of the door. We're
going to have Amy with her cat Twiggles

the other side. And we're going to see
how far we can push that challenge line

to the door, having these cats eat but
not hiss or growl.

Katie, start inching that food close to
the door. We're going to start feeding

Twiggles on this side, okay?

Okay, cool.

Right. Every time they smell food, they
smell each other. So basically they're

saying you equal food equal good.

just established their respective

challenge line. So what I'm going to do
is bring his food back a little bit.

This is how far back you go. He comes
up, he starts eating. No problem.

She's got to be able to do the same
thing on the other side.

She realized that Twiggles was there,
and she growled and backed away.

Pink. Then pull the plate back a little
bit. We found that line. Pull it back.

She's eating.

We got both cats to eat on opposite
side. We found where each one of their

challenge line was, so we can step that
up over the next couple of weeks, but

got to do it slowly.

So let me give you guys some homework.

We're going to really ritualize this
feeding exercise.

It has to happen every day and it has to
happen without fail.

Because, like I said before, I smell
you, I smell food. You equal good, you

know? The second step is we're going to
deal with the concept of sight swapping.

When I say site swap, that means nobody
lives in here, nobody lives in there. So

the way you swap is on different days,
Twiggles goes in there, Ping comes out

here, or, you know, the other way
around. We're going to do site swapping

that nobody owns too much piece of land
at one given time.

Cats can't see each other, they can
smell each other. This is how cats

communicate, with scent, not by talking.

One other thing, if we're going to do...

Mealtime, sight swapping, that means the
Twiggles live here.

What's your reservation about it?

That Twiggles will start having bad

Before, we were just trying to keep the

Zoe's a boy, even though his name is a

Ever since he was a kitten, he's been a

around in my own house. I think Zoe's
shown a lot of love, and it's very hard

happened three days before her wedding.
And she's not over it emotionally. She's

not over it in terms of the resentment
that she feels for her cat. And she

bears the scars.

How often does that happen?

It's happened about, like, four times,
like, documented. Like, I've documented

it with animal services.

You filed a report for the animal
services?

I was dumbfounded. I mean, what makes
you go to that extreme?

I would never call animal control on my
own animal.

Why would you do that?

It's always happened when I'm alone and
John's not here.

And it's a little bit frustrating
because I think that some people don't

me. I've never really seen Zoe attack
Michelle with those really vicious

attacks. These are like, you know, full
-on attack, attack.

Michelle has called animal services four
separate times because of the attacks

on her. Zoe has been placed on home
-based quarantine because of the bites.

there's only so many times that can
happen. At some point, animal services

take Zoe away if they think he presents
a danger.

If you're going to go to the forest to
call animal control, you've had it.

Yeah, it's like the last straw.

For both of you.

More so for her, like, I mean, I don't
want to give him away. He's never

viciously attacked me before. Ever?

around, okay? Basically, she's over it.
If she gets attacked one more time,

to solve this case.

notice a basket full of very sad

because I get all, you know, bit up and

scared for her when she's handling him.

seen it before. He's never been around

any of these attacks. Today, John got
it. He got the fact that this 4 '11

was being hit hard by a cat that was
almost bigger than her entire torso.

Believe me, he got it. As always, I
think it's really important for me to

some alone time with the cat, and I
wanted to spend that time with Zoe.

I asked John where he was, and Zoe was
in their bedroom, so that's where I

he's exhibiting, for the most part, are

setting up something like an exercise
course for him. Because when he starts

follow you, respect you as the leader of
this territory, I think things will

start looking a little differently.

Michelle's homework's a little more
difficult because the big theme here is

repairing and rebonding with Zoe. And
after all this time, that might be kind

tough. So she's got to re -engage.

Last thing that I want you guys to do.

is I'd like you to take the concept of
that catchery. What I'd like you to do

not get another catchery. I want you to
build one.

I think it's not only a way to help let
go of the resentments, but it's also an

activity that you two can bond over and
