The film you're about to see is a true
account of the happenings which befell

October 31st, 2004.

Five Canadian filmmakers set out on a
supernatural expedition to film a

documentary on the Saratoga Homestead
Asylum.

Unfortunately, only four crew members
exited the condemned building.

I'm coming here from two different
angles. First is urban exploration.

It's an abandoned building with a unique
history. I want to know what that

history is.

I've got a personal tie. My dad was part
of a search and rescue team that used

to operate in the region. And back in
the 60s, early 70s, they had an

elderly patient here who wandered off
into the woods.

His group was called in to find him. The
patient was found before they even

arrived on the scene.

So that's like my only personal tie, but
it is a personal tie.

Other than that...

More from a paranormal aspect.

I know there's stuff here. The original
homestead was built in 1914.

It's a tuberculosis sanitarium.
Basically, what they could do is remove

walls. They thought that the mountain
air up here would be good for

tuberculosis, so I've been told.

That's why those doors are so huge, eh?

Possibly. This is a view. This is in
1914 when it was being built. This is 10

years later.

I want to say that this road right here
by my thumb, these barkers go road here,

but...

We've never been able to find any
evidence of the 1914 structure to know.

These are probably out of order by now,
but these are some pictures of this

building here, entrance to a patient's
room from the porch, the boardroom.

This is what the original complex used
to look like. You can see there's a

tower in the back, front entrance,
obviously.

We heard that there was a graveyard in
the back.

Going to dispel that rumor right now.
You might have heard that there were

tombstones. They're there, except
they're styrofoam. Yes, exactly.

We already found that. That's what
they've always been, and they only put

up around Halloween.

This is the solarium. This is actually
on the opposite end of the building,

facing these windows right here, facing
the caretaker's house. This faces the

road, and back towards me is the back of
the place.

Nurse's dining room, patient's dining
room.

patient's room, the library, which I
believe is also on the opposite end of

building. This is the old auditorium.

This is, I thought, was the most
interesting room in this place.

This is the rec hall, which I believe is
underneath the auditorium, if I

remember correctly.

This door leads to a set of stairs that
goes up and comes out at the back of the

stage. I don't know if you guys went up
there.

Surgical room, x -ray room, children's
wing, which we're standing in the

basement of now.

front entrance of the children's wing,
which is facing the road back behind us.

I didn't realize how beautiful this
place was.

This is the hallway that never ends.

The flickering candle at the end of the
hallway.

Because it goes down and into the
children's wing. It's obviously longer

There are two versions. One is just a
flickering candle at the end of the

It's the ghost of a watchman going room
to room with a candle, making sure all

the kids are asleep in the children's
wing.

I thought the children's wing was
downstairs.

The children's wing is on the opposite
side of that wall right there that you

see.

That wing and this wing that you can
see, it was all for adults.

Beyond that wing was the children's
wing. That whole entire building that

almost separate on that side is all for
the kids.

Sometime around the 40s, this place was
supposed to be a school.

didn't tell these guys this, music

drifting in from either end of the old
wing towards the middle.

It wasn't just one kind of music. I was
hearing jazz, big band, blues, all just

different kinds of footsteps and voices,
kind of like the place was up and

running and bustling with people.

mind, almost like a dream or a daydream

something, a guy with a Mediterranean
complexion, dark, wiry, greasy kind of

hair like an Italian.

I'm Italian, I can get away with saying
it.

Brown suit, jacket, black shirt, saw him
from maybe the bottom of my jacket up.

He just kind of leaned one shoulder to
me, said, without moving his lips, I

heard, turn around before you get hurt.

I sat bolt upright, and I looked at
Damien.

And behind him was just this cloud,

this blob, more of a blob of energy or
something.

I said, Damien, don't turn around.

He says, what's going on? I said,
there's something behind you. He jumps

stage, grabs his stuff, and stands
behind me, or off to my shoulder here.

And the thing just started going all
over the room.
