have any worries. And it's different

how we were raised because... I know,
but these are different days.

Yeah. I run myself ragged to try and be
the perfect mom.

Because I didn't have that.

When I was eight years old, my mother
passed away.

My mom was self -medicating with alcohol
before she passed.

And, you know, the last few years of her
life, I just felt like I was on my own.

I think not having mom made me realize
when I had Elektra that

I really missed out on the love that I
give her.

I see what it was like, what it was
supposed to feel like, and the attention

someone doting on me and someone home
when I got home from school and all the

stuff that, you know, I didn't have.

Today I was detangling Electra's
necklaces, and I found a necklace that

friends gave Electra when she was born
to remind her of my mom.

And I saw it, and I had no emotion.

Like, how can I feel empty? This is a
special gift to my daughter, and it was

supposed to have meaning, and I felt
empty when I saw it.

You know, I never really talked to her
much about mom, and part of it was

because I wanted to, you know, say this
was your ya -ya, and she was beautiful.

to disrespect mom's memory.

For so long, I was mad.

We needed a mom.

That's okay.

I don't want to be mad at her.

But I'm still kind of mad at her.

I needed her.

And I don't understand why you couldn't
look at your kids and realize, like, you

got to get better so you can be present
for your family.

But I also understand that it's a

I was very, I was really mad at her for
a long time.

And I realized how overwhelmed a woman
can get with a child.
