Been in prison, coming out of prison,
getting their life together, getting

acclimated to society again. We really
do a lot of great work here. And I know

you know a little bit about that system
as well.

Unfortunately, right? Unfortunately.

After I got incarcerated, my eyes opened
up to the plight of people who had been

incarcerated for many years. After
people get out of jail, they don't have

job. They don't have a place to live.
And that's how I got started with the

Fortune Society. They help people. They
advocate for people.

Tonight's meeting is what we call a
community meeting. Alumni come, visitors

come. I only spend one night in jail.
Imagine what it's like to be

for over 20 years. I'm excited to be
here. And then I want to hear what

going to present and what you want to
talk about. Well, you know, it's just my

story. I can't compare my story to their
story. So when this happened to me, I

said, I'm not going to go through this
experience and not help other people.

was forced to stay still while I was in

solitary confinement.

And what I did, I learned who I was.

I thought I would never go back to
living in my bed.

people that have suffered so much. I

help but be so touched by hearing them
be optimistic and looking forward to

their future after all the pain and
suffering that they've been through.

I grew from what happened to me because

here. It's just so heartwarming and

beautiful.
