All language subtitles for Setup PPSSPP On Linux _ PlayStation Portable Emulation on Linux _ Desktop _ Steam Deck(720P_60FPS)

hey everyone

getting started on PSP for Linux is very

simple

this is one emulator that doesn't need

bios files so all you're going to need

is your ROMs and the emulator

we go to ppsspp.org

click on download here are your many

download options for this emulator

and since we're on Linux you can see

here we can grab PP sspp from Flat Hub

which is very convenient now if you have

a steam deck this is already in your

discover so all you have to do

search the emulator ppsspp

and then picked a flat pack version go

ahead and install that

once that's installed I like to go ahead

and launch it

and from here

we're going to set up a few quick things

first I'm going to maximize that and we

can even go full screen by hitting this

button here

we go into settings and here you can

choose your back end whether it's opengl

or Vulcan

now

if you're running AMD gpus which the

steam deck will be you want to pick

Vulcan for best performance

otherwise you can just do a quick trial

and error with your GPU but GL runs

really good with Nvidia

and video runs pretty fine with Vulcan

as well so if you have an Intel GPU play

around with these choose which one works

best in your favor

I'm gonna go ahead and pick Vulcan

basket to restart

once you've gone ahead and restarted the

app you want to tell the app where your

games are so

flip the up Arrow

for me I have my games on a different

hard drive

I'm gonna go to Media

put up my username

storage

ROMs

and I have my PlayStation Portable games

here

once you're here you just select your

game and get ready to play

okay so as you can see we're just

playing PSP it's working right out the

box

very simple quick and easy to set up but

there are enhancements you can make here

we're going to hit the uh I'm on the

PlayStation controller so I'm going to

hit the PS button here

we're gonna go into settings

and here we can actually change the

render resolution

so something like a 4X is something

close to 1080p so we'll click that

continue

and as you can see they upscale the

image quality a bit

this is really good if you want to just

go for the 4K you'll do 8x

but I see that 4X does a really good job

of clearing up the image

another thing you can do in the graphics

menu

show FPS counter

we'll turn both on because one is speed

which is the speed of the emulator

the other is FPS which is different

because certain games render at 30

frames While others render at 60.

so we'll keep most on so we can see here

and on the top right as you can see

this game right now is currently running

at 30 FPS

with a 100 speed another thing you could

do is mess around with the texture

filtering

so we can enhance some of the textures

which will give it kind of a a pseudo

upscale of sorts

turn it onto Auto Max quality and now

this is all very dependent on your

Hardware

no skill tape you can use xbrz or the

hybrid in by cubic

we'll use xbrz for this one

and we'll go up one level

that would be 2X

tells you on the bottom of the screen

that it is CPU heavy

you posterize

you could tell with the lettering on the

top left and the speedometer

and so with this you can enhance at

least the visuals of your gameplay a bit

especially if you're playing on a bigger

screen

scores

here we have Ridge Racer on PSP running

with the same enhancements

Forex resolution

and the XBR is a smoother

and finally here we have of course God

of War chains of Olympus

it's also running with the same

enhancements Forex resolution with xbrz

and so there you have it this is a quick

and easy setup of ppsspp

on Linux the best and fastest way to get

it is the flat pack version makes it

convenient for those out there playing

on the steam deck as well
