prosopometamorphopsia,

or PMO for short,

colloquially known as,
believe it or not,

demon face syndrome.

disorder of visual perception.

a hallucination?

- Exactly.

It's a distortion, which is
a very different thing.

Now, some people,
it only occurs

with a real, live human being,
right, not 2D imagery.

Sure enough, when I showed
Lucas a picture of my face,

looked completely
normal to him.

- So what triggers PMO?

- You know,
we know so little about it,

but I would like to get him
an MRI to rule out

the most serious known cause,

which is traumatic
brain injury.

they're very likely to return,

which is why I'd like to refer
you to a colleague of mine

who is a very skilled
neuropsychiatrist.
