[birds chirping]

Hello, Mrs. Sanders.

How are you this beautiful morning?

I am like a silky white sardine

stuck in a really small can.

Well, don't worry, because room service is gonna

send up a blowtorch, and we'll have you

out of that dress in no time.

[laughs] How mangled is that zipper?

Let's just say I was a tad overanxious.

I can't believe that I spent the first night of our honeymoon

stuck in my wedding dress.

Say the word, and I'll gladly tear you out of it.

Steve, if we have a daughter, she

might wear this dress someday.

Maternity wedding dress?

Maybe.

[laughs] So I'm just gonna wait until the hotel seamstress gets

here and see what she can do.

[sighs] In the meantime, I'm just going to lie here

and chafe.

I feel terrible about this.

[laughs]

Is it me, or did we have the most perfect wedding?

I wouldn't change a thing--

except, of course, that zipper.

[laughs]

Actually, I'm glad about that too, because when I'm 65,

and you have, like, zero interest in me,

I'm going to remind you of the time

that you wanted me so badly, you broke my zipper

trying to get my dress off.

I will always be interested in you.

Good answer.

[pleasant music]

Let me get you some water.

JACKIE: Well, thanks, Matt.

I don't know.

I just wanted it dissolved as quickly as possible

Certainly.

And like I said, I'll have an order regarding custody drawn up

by tomorrow, and I can have a forensic accountant

going over your joint assets by the end of the week.

And I'll get what I want?

Well, from what you told me, you have a very good case.

Mel is a liar and a cheat.

I want that in the filing.

Is everything OK?

Yeah, it's great.

We're gonna to crucify him.

Hey, great sweater.

I think Mel should buy me one.

Or four.

I hate seeing my mom like this.

I know, but if it helps, I think

I can get her what she wants.

She wants her family to stay together.

Thanks to Gina's little after-hours fiasco, no one

can give her that. - Listen to me.

I am not firing Gina, but I'm gonna

make sure she's out of the office

whenever your mother's around.

For which you get absolutely no brownie points,

just so you know.

I'm sorry about what's happening, but come on,

this is not Gina's fault.

[scoffs]

I just want you to know how sorry I

am for what you're going through and any part

my boyfriend had in that.

It's-- it's very embarrassing.

Noah just made a mistake.

He wasn't hurtful like Gina.

Mom, do you know Gina?

No.

We have never met, but she threatened to tell

on Mel unless he paid her.

Gina blackmailed him?

Is that what Mel told you?

And he paid her at first, but then he stopped, and she

made good on her threat.

So Gina is the one that called you about Mel?

That's how you found out?

Yes.

Part of me thinks she did me a favor,

and another part makes me think she ruined my life.

[thoughtful music]

So last night was incredible.

Yeah, it was romantic.

It was so imaginative.

It was really surprising. Yeah.

Yeah.

Steve and Janet really outdid themselves.

[laughs] Yeah.

What?

Yeah, the wedding was great, too.

[laughs]

You know, before last night, I never once thought

about sleeping with you.

Right.

Well, I had a great time.

DAVID: Yeah, so did I. I was hoping

maybe we could have a great time again tonight and tomorrow

night.

and maybe the night after that.

You can cut me off here any time before I

make an idiot of myself.

Well, maybe we could just play it by ear.

DAVID: I guess it probably wouldn't

be a very good idea, then, for me to run outside

and tell everybody about it.

- (LAUGHING) You're so bad. - [ding]

Huh. She figured me out.

Um, call me.

Yeah.

[pleasant music]

[theme music]

[save ferris, "mistaken"]

[vocalizing]

(SINGING) I guess I was mistaken

'Cause I only wanted you

I was mistaken

Don't tell me why

I guess I was mistaken

I know I can't run to you again

'Cause you would only run away

I guess there's nothing I can do to make you stay

You said that you would never leave

A lie you told, and I believed

And now you want to go and throw this all away

So what is happening here?

Oh, please tell me

It's exactly as I feared

You're just the same

PATSY: Well, you can't imagine my relief at knowing

Andrew is doing well.

[scoffs] I mean, what happened to him was so--

so unfortunate.

Patsy, he got gay bashed.

Unfortunate doesn't begin to cover it.

[sighs] No, I suppose it doesn't.

Please send him my regards.

I kind of thought you'd like to do that yourself personally,

you know, as codirector of the center,

along with inviting him back to do his job.

Yes.

Yes, I would have welcomed that.

If he hadn't come out?

There was a restructuring due to budget cuts.

Unfortunately, Andrew's job was eliminated.

How much to uneliminate it?

Excuse me?

Oh, you heard what I said.

Name a figure, and it's done.

I want you to know that I really, really appreciate

what you're trying to do.

I mean, after all, I am not opposed to working

with a man like that.

Like that?

PATSY: He works with children--

my children.

And when you are a parent, you will understand how thoroughly

unacceptable that is.

If you'll excuse me, please.

Number one, you can't fire someone based

on their sexual orientation.

It's illegal.

Number two, I don't think I will ever understand

how unacceptable it is.

And most importantly, number three-- so listen to me--

if you don't welcome a man like that back

here to do his job with open arms,

I will stop funding this place.

Maybe it'll be your job they're looking to eliminate.

[intriguing music]

DONNA: Do you realize we haven't gotten a gift yet?

Yeah, I wonder if they're registered anywhere.

Someone's birthday?

No, silly.

Remember, I told you Steve and Janet got married?

It was a beautiful wedding in a park,

and the bride looked amazing.

It was just like a fairy tale.

Hey, beautiful.

Come here often?

David.

Hey.

How'd you know we were here?

DAVID: Jackie told me.

Called her about taking Erin to the pier.

What else did Jackie tell you?

DONNA: You know what?

Why don't we go for a walk?

No, thanks.

Oh, it is gonna be such a fun walk.

ERIN: Why do kids always have to miss the good stuff?

[laughs]

If this has something to do with how

Erin's handling the breakup, Jackie

didn't have to say anything.

Dad told me.

Did Dad tell you who's responsible for the breakup?

No.

Gina is the one who told my mom about Mel's

little indiscretion.

First of all, I don't believe that.

Second of all, it doesn't matter.

David, [scoffs] she blackmailed him,

and when he didn't pay her, she told on him.

Our parents' lives are falling apart, all right?

It's sad, and it hurts.

But Gina didn't have anything to do with that.

With what?

Slippery, little devil, isn't she?

You know what happens to little sisters who eavesdrop?

No.

What?

Two words-- duck pond.

Into the duck pond.

[screams]

Did you tell him about Gina?

Yeah, I did.

And?

He sided with her.

[scoffs]

[pleasant music]

I know.

I'm a vision.

You are adorable.

He says, trying not to laugh as his blushing bride waddles

her way to the marriage bed.

Oh, yeah.

I want you to sit back and relax.

What are you up to?

Just a little TLC, that's all.

JANET: Oh.

Well, this bodes well.

I understand that, uh, women who

are in advanced stages of pregnancy are very sensitive.

Mm-hmm.

How's that?

[laughs]

Mmm.

Do you smell something?

Just feet. [laughs]

[laughs]

Oh, the candles.

I got us a smoky-scented one to remind us of the camping trip.

Mmm.

How does that feel?

Ah, just ask me again in an hour or two.

[beeping]

Tell me you opened the flue.

The flue?

What flue?

I didn't see a flue.

JANET: Smoky-scented candles I can handle,

but, my god, this is a forest fire.

Oh.

[coughs] I can't find it.

Come on.

[coughs]

[relaxing background music]

Got to tell you, Andrew, that place

is falling apart without you.

Well, the people in the center definitely need me.

Wanting me, on the other hand, is a different story.

Yeah, well, I took care of that.

Your associate, Patsy, and I, we, uh-- we had a talk.

What did you tell her?

I told her that if you didn't come back,

I wouldn't give her any more money.

Look, Dylan, [sighs] I'm a private person.

What I do in my personal life is private.

I know you mean well, but you're forcing me to confront Patsy.

No, her prejudice.

That is the issue.

Even though I'd rather just walk away.

You asked me to give money good cause, and I did.

But I will not give money to a bigot, and I'm--

I'm pissed that you would want me to.

Excuse me.

Hey.

Oh.

Hey.

I-- I didn't see you.

Yeah, I was in the bar talking to that guy

from the community center.

Anyway, listen, um, I think that you and I need to talk.

I was thinking that when I'm done,

we could go to your room or something.

Well, last time we talked, you said that we didn't really

have a future together, so why don't we just leave it at that?

Well yeah, we, um-- we could do that, but I don't want to.

Hi, kids.

Do you mind?

I'm in the middle of something

No.

I'm just here to see Gina.

We are in the middle of something.

Actually we're not.

I think we're done.

[thoughtful music]

Come on.

I don't think so.

So you OK with what happened?

I'm fine.

All right.

So I was talking to Kelly earlier.

Oh, I hate sentences that start out like that.

[laughs]

She thinks that you had something to do with my dad

and her mom breaking up.

[ding]

Everyone knows that Noah and I ran the after-hours club.

She was saying something ridiculous, like, uh--

I don't know, you wanted my dad to pay

you so you wouldn't say anything to Jackie about what he did,

or--

You know, Kelly is--

I'm sure she's really upset about her mom,

and she's just looking for someone to blame.

So it's not-- it's not true.

Your father came into the club.

The police came.

I mean, I was the one who snuck him out the back door,

so he wouldn't be arrested, you know?

I was trying to protect him.

I believe you.

You do?

Yeah.

If you're having doubts about this, then maybe--

DAVID: No, I'm not.

I'm not having any doubts.

You want to just drop it?

I wish I never mentioned it.

So, um, when you were talking to Dylan,

you didn't happen to mention anything about us, did you?

GINA: Yeah, actually, I was just about to really talk about us.

Gah.

Bad timing.

I think you have really good timing.

[pleasant music]

Yeah?

Mm-hmm.

You gotta kiss me goodnight.

Oh, boy.

[laughs]

STEVE: Honey, I can't believe you want

to cut the honeymoon short.

OK, well, all I'm saying is that if we had a little bit

more time, because this was so rushed, maybe

we could find a really great place that

was a little bit more romantic.

Well, you know, the concierge said the smoke

damage wasn't significant.

We could probably be back in the suite tomorrow night.

I just want to do this right, Steve.

I want to do this right, and I want to do

it without elastic waistbands.

[playful polka music]

This is a joke, right?

This is one of those twisted pranks

that people play on the happy couple

so that they might have something quirky to look back

on when all they really want is a foot massage

and a good night's sleep?

Relax, OK?

Relax.

[sighs]

Excuse me.

Oh, yeah.

How you doin'?

Milt Barsukiewicz, Ukrainian village polka band.

Polka?

Yeah, yeah.

We're here competing for the national championships.

10:00 o'clock at night?

In the hallway?

Oh, yeah.

Uh, OK, real good, guys.

Let's take it in my room, yeah?

[playful polka music]

Thanks.

Which is your room?

MILT BARSUKIEWICZ: Oh, that's the one right next to yours.

Yeah.

JANET: Oh.

[whines]

[relaxing music]

Oh.

I'm sorry.

You could lock the door next time, OK?

Ew.

It doesn't matter.

It does to me.

[sighs]

Look, I know your dad's going through a hard time,

so I understand, you know, that you wouldn't want to spend time

with the person who caused it.

I shouldn't have doubted you, Kelly

shouldn't have doubted you.

You know, I don't--

I don't want to talk about this.

And I really don't want you to talk to Kelly.

It won't help.

It'll just make things worse.

What?

[laughs]

Not sexy for--

(LAUGHING) Yes.

Are you kidding me?

Get off me.

Get off of me.

[clears throat]

[door opening]

[thoughtful music]

[ding]

Thanks.

Hold on.

I'm coming.

Hey.

Hi.

Yeah, hi.

We saw each other at the elevators.

It wasn't real comfortable.

Well, you pushed me away.

So it's my fault?

I'll see you.

[ding]

GINA: I didn't want this.

You did.

MATT: So I filed the order, and we're just waiting for the court

to set a date.

And until then, I get custody of Erin?

That's right.

As for the division of your assets,

you're not being married to Mel puts us in a gray area.

We used to be married.

I can't believe it.

All this, and we're already divorced.

Well, you know, you wanted to keep your family together.

I told Mel, I said to him, if we get back together, you cannot

put me through this again.

And he promised he wouldn't.

He promised.

How old was Erin?

Oh, not even a year.

He loved his little girl so much,

and I-- and I felt like she needed her father.

[cries]

Jackie, I'm sure you did the right thing.

Oh.

I thought I was protecting her, and instead, I am making her

go through it all over again.

[sentimental music]

Tada.

What do you think?

[fun music]

I think I look like Mom.

[laughs] I think she would be happy to hear you say that.

Hey.

Can I try this on now?

Yes, on one condition.

That I'll hang it back up when I'm through?

That, and that you will talk to me about what's

going on with your Dad and Mom.

DONNA: Hey, you have got to see what we got Steve and Janet.

Sorry.

Are we interrupting?

No, that's OK.

Unlike this morning.

Oh, what happened this morning?

A little miscommunication, that's all.

Mm, whatever.

What did you get?

Oh, it's a genealogy program.

You can find out your family tree.

Ooh.

NOAH: It's got, you know, family records, birth

certificates sort of thing.

And I thought since Steve and Janet are having a baby,

they'd want to know who its ancestors are.

This is good.

Can I go in with you?

Oh, maybe if you're nice.

NOAH: Hey. Check it out.

It's for Steve and Janet.

Yeah, it's genius.

Look at it.

Yeah, I'm sure it is.

I mean, I know you guys stop at nothing when

it comes to someone you like.

And as far as someone you don't--

If this is about Gina, I really

don't want to talk about it. DAVID: Yeah, it is about Gina.

You know what?

She had nothing to do with telling Jackie about Mel.

And this news broadcast came from--

From Gina, my girlfriend.

Wait, you and Gina?

Does Dylan know?

OK, your girlfriend is responsible for breaking up

my mom's family, and if you don't believe me or my mom,

why don't you talk to your Dad?

Until then, don't defend that bitch to me, OK?

[thoughtful music]

[chatter]

Yay.

Good job.

Everybody, gather round.

Katie, great offense today.

Eric, work on the defense.

All right, you guys, for tomorrow, I want to see

some more teamwork, all right?

Trust each other, OK?

All right, everybody, hands in a circle.

Go, Baby Animals.

Yay.

Good job.

DYLAN: What, no uproar?

Here, I thought there'd be riots in the street.

Yeah, Patsy even managed a hello,

or did your threat include her having to be civil?

Now, did it ever occur to you that people here

could accept you?

Hey, Henry. Come here.

I want you to meet someone.

Henry's Patsy's son.

This is Dylan.

Nice to meet you.

Hey.

Henry is the star player on our basketball team--

16 points, 10 rebounds a game, although it'll be 12

if you ever learn to box out.

Got a game coming up?

No.

ANDREW: What do you mean?

There's one day after tomorrow.

Maybe, but I'm not playing in it.

Mom says you shouldn't have come back.

She won't let me play for a gay coach.

All right, listen, forget about him, all right?

Quitting is his loss.

His loss-- a kid's--

which is exactly what I didn't want to happen.

[somber music]

Hey, lady, I meant what I said.

You got a sad attitude, and I will not underwrite that.

Well, that's your decision to make.

We made do before you, and we will survive after you've gone--

with our values intact.

Hey.

Have you seen my headbands anywhere?

I can't find them.

No, I haven't.

I thought you were checking us out.

[sighs] I got cherry, meringue, and pine--

nothing smoked, smoky, or smoking.

Uh-huh.

I thought we agreed to postpone the honeymoon

until after the holiday.

You know that band from the Ukrainian village?

They won the championship.

They've got to be around here somewhere.

They won the championship, and they're grateful to us

for not complaining about them rehearsing last night.

JANET: Hmm. Well, good.

Maybe they'll show their appreciation by coming in here

and sitting on our suitcases, so we can get out of here

and go home.

STEVE: Well, actually, when I told them

that it was our honeymoon, they thought

something a little bit more romantic should be in order.

They're not gonna--

All but one of the accordion players.

See, he hurt his arm during the big wow finish last night, so--

hit it, guys.

[fun music]

May I have this dance?

You're insane.

You know that?

I know.

OK.

[crickets chirping]

Hey.

You are here.

I was, uh, calling you.

[laughs]

I didn't feel like picking up.

Oh.

I just came by because I thought you might want to know

that I told Dylan about us.

You know, I would have done anything for you.

[laughs] Did you hear what I just said?

Dylan and I are through.

I talked to my dad.

He told me what you did to him.

Oh, I thought we weren't gonna talk about this.

You took advantage of my dad, Gina.

I am so sorry about that.

Just plea-- please let me explain to you what happened?

Explain?

No, tell you the story from the very beginning, because--

You can't explain.

GINA:--you don't understand what happened.

You know what? Forget it.

David, please.

[somber music]

[calm music]

DONNA: Morning.

KELLY: Hey. What's up?

[fun music]

Well, I realized I can't trace Janet's family

'cause they're not from this country,

so now I'm working on Steve's.

KELLY: Oh.

Find anything?

DONNA: Well, it says right here his grandfather

came through Ellis Island.

Vladimir Sandowscowitz.

Huh?

Steve Sandowscowitz.

Oh, that is too good.

You know, I'm gonna go get a coffee.

Do you want anything?

Kel, talk to me.

KELLY: [sighs] OK, I spent the night at Matt's house

last night.

And that's what bothers you?

That you slept at your boyfriend's?

Noah moved out of the Walsh house

because there wasn't enough room.

Now I'm sleeping at the Walsh house

because our apartment is too crowded.

That is what bothers me.

OK, but you said you would try not to pick a fight with him.

And I you're going through a lot, but [sighs] can

you honestly say you're being fair?

No, I can't.

How dare you show up here?

I work here.

Not for long, if I have anything to do with it.

You know what, Kelly, I didn't do anything to Mel, OK?

Or David or-- or Dylan, that they didn't want done to them.

[laughs] It's not my fault all the men in this town

are unsatisfied.

[thoughtful music]

Look on the bright side.

She could be your cousin.

So what?

Eight kids.

Practically the entire team refuses

to play as long as I'm the coach, and you say, so what?

Yes, I do.

Look, I never should have let you talk me into this.

Coming back to the center was the right thing to do,

and so is staying.

Eight kids in two days.

So what?

There's no basketball.

The kids who quit, they don't deserve it.

No, these kids deserve everything we can give them.

Then you give them a sense of what is right and wrong.

Kids come here from broken homes.

Some of them are abused.

Almost all of them are poor.

My job, the job of this center, is--

is to make their difficult life a little bit

easier and a lot more fun.

[thoughtful music]

Excuse me.

PATSY: Come in.

Congratulations.

I quit.

Dinner was so good.

I'm glad you liked it.

Oh, yeah, I really liked it.

You know what?

I love being here with you.

Mm.

Um, did you clean off the table?

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

Well, no, I still see a salt and pepper shaker sitting there.

A salt and pepper shaker?

Yeah.

All right, what's going on here?

It's Kelly.

I keep expecting her to walk in any second and criticize.

You mean criticize me, right?

Us, our living together, how it's affecting her life.

I'm trying to understand this.

OK, if she's your best friend, and you want me here,

that should be enough for her.

Yeah, but she's going through a hard time,

and we're not making it any easier on her.

OK, fine.

Why don't I hide in our room until she goes to sleep?

[laughs] That's ridiculous.

You're telling me.

[thoughtful music]

DAVID: The girl had run away, but the bear called to her.

Snow White, do not be afraid.

I will come with you.

She recognized his voice and waited.

And when he came up, his bearskin fell off,

and he stood there, a handsome man, clothed all in gold.

I'm a king's son, he said.

[knocking]

That must be Dad.

He said he'd come by to pick you up around now.

Are we friends?

I've got Erin here.

It's just a simple question.

Yeah, I think so.

And you can see with the way you've been acting lately, why I

might be a little, uh, unsure.

Is that it?

'Cause I've got an eight-year-old girl in there

whose life is falling apart.

[sighs] One friend to another, you should be careful.

So that's why you came here?

Tell me I should be careful?

Of Gina?

Mm-hmm, and to let you know that I heard

how she played your old man.

You two dating must, um--

must really make Mel proud.

[thoughtful music]

Donna said Steve and Janet had a fairy tale wedding.

Yeah, they did.

Did Mom and Dad?

You want me to finish reading the story?

No.

That's OK.

I know it ends happily ever after, like all fairy tales.

JANET: You know how I said I had that heavy feeling

Yeah, you said it was like some dull sensation.

[sighs] Right.

It's not dull anymore.

STEVE: You know what?

It's probably a cramp.

I'm gonna order us some food, and then I'll

help you out in a second, OK?

Here, see what you want, honey.

[sighs]

Hi, room service, I'd like to order some dinner, please.

For myself, I'd like filet mignon, medium

well, some crispy onion rings.

And for my lovely bride--

Janet, what are you gonna have?

A baby.

What?

I thought that it was a cramp, but it's a contraction, I think.

You think? But you're not sure?

I mean, you're not due for another six weeks.

[winces] Someone forgot to tell Junior.

Oh my god.

OK, you're not kidding, right?

OK, this is it. This is it.

- Uh-huh. - OK.

I know.

We need to, um-- we need to stay calm.

Stay calm.

Oh. Oh.

All right. I'm panicking.

I'm officially panicking.

I'm panicking.

Steve.

I need you so stay with me.

Do you understand?

OK, OK.

I need you to pack our things and put them in a suitcase

and take me to the hospital.

OK.

I can do that. - OK.

All right.

I can do that.

All I need is, uh-- - Pants.

Yeah, pants.

- Pants would be good. - All right.

Pants.

Seem that's why you're gonna be such

a great mother-- because-- because you

remember things like pants.

And pants are-- pants are so important to remember.

Steve.

I think you're gonna be a great dad, too.

I've never been this happy.

Neither have I.

OK.

Here we go.

(SINGING) Roll out the barrel

[laughs]

STEVE: I can do this.

[calm music]

DR. LONG: You've only dilated to about six centimeters.

After 12 hours?

Well, now that your waters broke,

things should move along more quickly

Oh, good.

I'm fresh out of songs.

I'm not even in my eighth month.

What happened?

STEVE: Premature birth can be age-related or due

to high blood pressure.

Yeah, but Janet's young, and her blood pressure's fine.

Or sometimes the baby just wants to say hi.

But the baby's gonna be OK.

That's what you said.

Preemies have added risks, but you're far enough along that you

probably don't have to worry.

Probably?

[beeping]

My guess is, the baby will probably have to stay

in the hospital for a week or so to build up his strength--

nothing more.

STEVE: So what do we do now?

We're monitoring the baby's heart rate

and timing your contractions.

The epidural should wear off in time for you to push.

In the meantime, you should watch TV, play cards,

think up names, and relax.

I'll check in later.

[sentimental music]

Thanks, Doc.

Everything's gonna be OK.

I know.

Big game today.

You're Coach's friend.

You mean the gay guy?

Yeah, he's my friend.

You think that's funny?

You said it, not me.

Let me ask you something.

Was he a good coach?

He was OK.

DYLAN: What was the best thing he taught you?

I mean, before your mother had you all worried about him

groping you in the locker room.

Man, what's your problem?

What was the best thing?

He taught us to trust each other.

- Like a team? - Yeah.

Can I have my ball, please?

Stand up for each other?

Come on, man.

Hey, don't walk away from me.

That's what he did for you.

He stood up for you and your pals,

sacrificed what he loved to do.

He quit his job for you.

Anybody else done anything like that recently?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

You know, you may not know it, but the gay guy just

taught you how to be a man.

[thoughtful music]

Kid, I know it's hard to go against your parents,

especially when they are wrong, but you got

to learn to think for yourself.

GINA: [sighs] Here is the Solomon case.

Depos are tomorrow. Don't forget.

MATT: Yeah.

I know I don't have an appointment,

but I pulled together the financial statements

you asked for. I'm sorry.

I'm interrupting.

Uh, no, no, you're not.

Um-- this is my assistant.

Oh.

Well, I'm Jackie Taylor.

Hi.

Uh, I'm gonna go get some coffee.

Gina.

Uh, this is Gina Kincaid.

I'm sorry about what happened, but you should know,

I think I did you a favor.

By destroying my family?

I think Melvin probably did that all on his own.

All I did was tell you his little secret.

Call me after you've looked over the statements.

Uh-- [sighs]

That was comfortable.

You don't see it, do you? GINA: What?

How rude that was.

Gina, I'm letting you go.

[laughs] Because I'm to blame for all of this?

MATT: No, not all of it, but enough.

Well, Kelly will be happy.

[thoughtful music]

This has nothing to do with Kelly.

This thing's a mess.

Believe me, no one's happy about it.

Hey, you guys, have fun on your field trip, all right?

Bobby, no roughhousing.

I'm gonna miss it around here.

Do you have any idea what you're gonna do?

Not yet-- other than trying to convince

you to keep funding this place.

Hey, Coach, you got a second?

Henry, aren't you supposed to be at the game?

Yeah, and I'm going, but, see, I've been thinking.

And, you know, you were a good coach before.

There's no reason to think you'd be any different now.

So I'd like you to stay.

Look, I can't speak for my mom, but I talked with the guys.

And we all feel the same way.

What changed your mind?

Somebody pointed out, sometimes

you need to think for yourself.

[sentimental music]

As far as role models go, you're as good as any other, I guess.

[laughs]

Besides, we've got a game to play, right?

Meet you there.

All right.

As good as any other?

OK, so maybe I undersold a little bit, but, uh--

got my point across.

Yeah, you did.

Thanks.

How about Mo?

Mo Sanders?

Yeah, short for Moses.

You know, this way it gives a kid something to live up to.

Uh-huh. Next.

How about, uh--

[intriguing music]

Would you get off the bed, please?

- Yeah. - Excuse me, sir.

Why?

DR. LONG: Get the fetal monitor.

What's going on?

I need this patient prepped for an emergency C-section.

And make sure there's an OR available.

And call the anesthesiologist. Move it.

NURSE 1: I found a line. STEVE: Wait a second.

What's happening, Doctor?

The baby's heart rate is a little slower than normal.

If we left it in, we could be in trouble.

What kind of trouble?

It's hard to know until we deliver, so we'll do that.

Then we'll put the baby in the NICU for observation.

I want to be with my wife.

Steve, we're doing all we can.

Let us do our job.

VOICE ON PA SYSTEM: Neonatologist, labor

and delivery.

Neonatologist--

[thoughtful music]

Hey.

Baby, please?

[sighs]

[clears throat]

I don't want to get hurt.

GINA: I just came over to tell you that I think

we could be great together.

DAVID: You know, so far, being hurt

by you has redefined my life twice in less than six months.

GINA: Did you hear what I said?

Yeah, I'm just really trying to ignore it.

[sentimental music]

I'm not gonna hurt you.

Again.

I really hope the operative word is again.

KELLY: Anyone ever show you how to use the little thingy

on the top of the apple to figure out the initials

of who you're going to marry?

The best part is, you can totally cheat,

depending on who you want it to be.

[laughs] Sweetie?

I want Mom and Dad to live happily ever after.

I know you do.

[somber music] I know.

Come here.

I want that so much.

[whistles] So let me guess.

It's your turn on the old family tree, huh?

Donna?

This can't be right.

NOAH: What's that?

[sighs] These records indicate that my father had two children.

NOAH: Your father, not your mother?

Was he married before?

No.

[sighs] According to this birth certificate,

he had an affair with my Aunt Bobbie.

[laughs] Wait a second.

You're telling me that--

Yeah.

If this is true, Gina and I are sisters.

Wow.

Dr. Long, what's going on?

No one's told me anything.

- Janet's placenta tore. - Oh, no.

DR. LONG: She and the baby lost a significant amount of blood.

- Oh my god. - You need to sign these.

DR. LONG: They're consent forms, allowing

us to give Janet and your daughter blood transfusions.

Daughter?

We need four units O neg.

NURSE 2:--the blood bank.

Is she gonna be all right?

DR. LONG: She's being taken to NICU.

I didn't ask where she was going.

I asked if she's gonna be all right.

- We're doing all we can. - How's Janet?

Please, sign these.

STEVE: I don't want to sign anything until you tell

me how my wife is gonna be.

She's lost a lot of blood.

You told me that.

Does that-- does that mean she's gonna die?

Steve, I know you're upset, but you've got to sign this.

OK.

[intriguing music]

[closing music]
