[Guardian]

[Episode 14]

Were you pretending from the start?

Or else, how could I let you obediently say your true identity?

Zhujiu!

They ran so fast.

[Special Investigation]

So capable.

On your own, you were able to take back the Sacred Items?

Zhao Yunlan, you are something!

How dare you shoot me!

I am fine. Why are you guys standing...?

- Why are you wearing—- Chief Zhao!

you woke up,

Lucky people are really blessed people.

Brother Black, long time no see.

The case should be truly closed now.

Zheng Yi has committed crimes.

I'm bringing her back to the Underworld for judgment now.

Lord, she's a poor girl.

Shut up. Let him finish first.

We live in this chaotic world. Everyone is poor and pitiful.

If I become lenient now and reserve judgment,

people will no longer follow the rules and policies.

No need to say more.

Chief Zhao,

it sems like you are not satisfied with my decision.

Never mind.

I just don't understand

what you're truly thinking.

♫ My innocent heart ♫

♫ Sets out and chases through the night ♫

♫ Searching for phantoms long covered in dust ♫

♫ Alone for the sake of a sincere heart ♫

♫ Cruel memories ♫

♫ Waft through gentle breaths ♫

♫ The initial heart of a guardian ♫

♫ Is waiting to be slowly awakened ♫

♫ A familiar voice passes by my ear ♫

♫ Softly recounting courage that is still steadfast ♫

I just knew you wouldn't be so heartless.

You act ruthless and indifferent to stabilize the peace in our city,

but actually, you take care of everything and sometimes, get softhearted.

Hard.

I don't understand anything that you said.

Brother Black, stop acting.

Unless you can erase my memories.

Who told you I can't?

Anyway,

I had to make up hundreds of excuses just to back up a lie.

I am tired.

Yeah. That's correct.

I... know my attitude towards the Black Robe Envoy was quite disrespectful,

but let bygones be bygones.

You said before, we are friends.

Yes, we have always been friends.

It has never changed.

Have been?

I have a question to ask as well.

When did this "have been" start?

Thanks.

For what?

Other than you,

no one has ever tried to know me and understand me.

No one was willing to sit down and have a sincere chat with me.

If one day,

I leave without informing you,

please don't blame me.

You just have to remember that,

we will surely meet each other again.

I cannot tell you now.

Fine.

I'll change my question.

You can definitely tell me why you hid your identity to help me, right?

Fine.

I won't push you to answer it.

But I was cheated by you for so long

and my heart suffered great trauma,

you can't just brush me off with a few words. Right?

It's not appropriate.

Then, what is appropriate?

Promise me something.

Chief Zhao said,

he saw Zheng Yi and Tan Xiao on his way back home.

Looks like Black Robe Envoy is not as heartless as I thought.

Although Tanxiao and Zheng Yi are not real siblings,

they were willing to sacrifice their lives to protect the other during danger.

I hope they can keep this precious guarding affection for the rest of their lives

and obtain normal happiness.

The bullet didn't hit your vital organs,

but it still sucked your power.

You can't do much for a while.

It's such a disgrace to be hurt

by a normal person.

Disgrace!

I will be collecting information for the meantime.

After successively failing, you better think about how to explain things to our boss.

You will pay for it.

Hey, Dead Cat,

you finally know to sleep at home?

Brother Wang, good morning!

Little Officer Guo! Come. Come.

You are just in time. Last time, Da Qing went crazy

and broke my billboard and my store. Right?

I am currently anxious about it because my writing is really bad.

Good thing, you're here. How about you write it for me?

Come. Come.

Okay.

Brother Wang,

this pen of yours really looks nice.

Of course, it's my heirloom.

Let me tell you that I usually just display that and can't bear to use it. It's all because I want my business to do good.

Was something shining just now?

Little Officer Guo, when others go to work, they all look depressed and frowning,

but you are the only one who looks happy and excited.

Maybe it's because I love my job.

My colleagues are very skilled and supportive.

Especially Chief Zhao.

He is such an energetic person and is totally my idol.

Yes, of course. Come.

Are you ready?

Let's go.

Anything joyous? You drive so fast.

None.

Just going to Seastar Administration to report Zheng Yi's case.

I hope we can finish it quickly.

Those guys are so talkative.

Especially that high official Minister Gao.

He remembered you,

since the last time you showed your power and saved him during the wedding.

So, he asked me to bring you along.

I may let them down. I am just a normal...

A normal?

A normal master?

Or a normal Underworld leader?

I hope you can keep this secret from the others.

No worries. I am not stupid.

If those people know that they've been lazying right under the watchful eyes of the Black Robe Envoy,

they might all retire in advance.

They are afraid of me

and I feel uncomfortable staying together with them.

If not because I'm worried that the Sacred Items will be taken by bad guys, I wouldn't come back here.

Did you have any unpleasant experience here before?

Fine. Change of topic then.

Does it mean I am the only one you are comfortable with

since you only told me your identity?

Okay, fine. I'll let you choose a topic.

We can stop talking.

Well, you didn't say I can't sing.

Chief Zhao.

I am the deputy minister, Guo Ying.

Pleased to meet you!

He is Guo Changcheng's second uncle.

- Hello, I am Shen Wei.- Hello,

Professor Shen. Please go inside.

Please go in.

Thank you for your hard work.

Thanks.

- Then, I'll go in first.- Okay.

Wait.

The self-criticism you asked me to write for you.

Cool.

With this, our unit would look very sincere.

What's wrong with it?

You wrote by brush?

Sorry, I am not used to writing in pens.

It's okay, Minister Gao doesn't know me much. I would be exposed if this were some familiar guy.

My mom buried underground would be laughing out loud

if she knew I could write such a long essay with beautiful calligraphy.

Don't make jokes about your family.

I'll go first.

Come in!

Where did we make mistakes during the process?

I am also confused.

What happened?

Professor, our experiment failed.

You are the worst research fellows I have ever trained!

How many more times are you going to fail?

Negative and impetuous!

I would have expelled you from the lab if you were my students!

And you!

If my student Shen Wei were here,

I would be relieved.

Come on, Zhou! Don't talk about him anymore. Watch your mouth!

He's not one of us, and he doesn't want to join us as well.

Don't let him know about our research.

Professor Shen, Minister Gao asks for you.

Okay.

You are always bad-tempered.

Minister Gao.

- Professor Shen.- Minister Gao.

I never thought that after seeing each other a few days ago, you'd join Special Investigations. It's our honor to have you with us.

Professor Shen,

how did our chief persuade you?

Then, what is appropriate?

Promise me something.

I'm earnestly asking Professor Shen Wei of the bioengineering department of the University of Dragon City, plus Black Robe Envoy of the Underworld,

for my sake, please join Special Investigations.

I was joking just now.

I believe

that you came to the mortal world this time because you need our help.

I also believe that as long as we work together,

we can overcome whatever difficulties.

Hence, as long as we charge together,

we will be able to safeguard the current peace and stability.

Maybe it's because I am charming!

So glib.

Please take a seat.

Okay.

Let's talk about something important.

Firstly, your criticism.

Amazing! You wrote it so well!

Chief Zhao, I never thought you were so knowledgable about our traditions and cultures.

Such flowing and high expressive self-criticism!

So perfect.

You are indeed the son of Brother Xinci.

You know him?

Of course, we are old friends.

He is my senior and model.

Not long ago, he was promoted as the Director-General of the Planetary Supervision Bureau.

Planetary Supervision Bureau?

Shen Wei, you may not know.

Planetary Supervision Bureau represents the highest level of leadership here in Dragon City.

Technically speaking, they are the highest leaders of your Special Investigation Unit.

Under normal circumstances, they won't give you orders directly.

He was promoted again?

He didn't tell you?

He doesn't talk much.

He shouldn't be so serious even at home.

Minister, do you have anything else to say that's why you called us over here?

I almost forgot.

Did you notice a strange man holding a camera in his hand

during the wedding ceremony at Huang Chaoyang's house last time?

Everything I said is true!

You have to trust me! I'm very lucid right now!

Yeah, there was one.

No wonder.

That Cong Bo noticed you since that incident.

This morning, he sent us a threatening email,

saying that he will reveal the secrets of the Special Investigation Unit.

I believe you have seen more threatening provocations than this.

No, he's different.

To maintain the secrecy and purity of the working environment of Special Investigations,

you have to be more careful.

Is he an Undergrounder?

He is more horrifying than them!

He is a professional paparazzi and online freelance writer.

The infamous secret revealer here in Dragon City.

No matter what secrets, if you get targeted by him,

he will expose them all.

Let's rehearse one more time.

- Won't someone see us? - No worries.

Let's start from here then. That is after you faint, I send you home—

- What's your relationship?- What are you doing?

Mr. Lu, why were you and Ms. Du inside a private room for so long?

I have nothing to tell you.

Then can you explain this picture?

We were having a rehearsal.

Please explain for us...

Do you remember when the share prices of Zhang Shi Company crashed half a year ago

causing great losses to a lot of people?

I heard that it was also caused by this Cong Bo leaking some explosive news.

Mr. Zhang, I have prepared a bottle of wine

for you to taste.

You're being too courteous.

I still have to trouble Mr. Zhang to exert more effort.

[Internal Dealings in Zhang Shi Company Revealed]

Gosh, seems like our city's private detective businesses aren't doing good,

or else, they wouldn't be switching into gossip reporters.

But if it's just secret camcording,

I don't think he'll be a threat to us.

It would be fine if he was indeed skilled only in that.

He's also good in computer hacking.

He can enter anywhere. We are unable to defend against him.

It will definitely cause social unrest,

once he exposes the work of Special Investigations.

Minister Gao, we surely will make the utmost preparations

in handling this urgent situation.

We just opened.

They are all fresh and cheap.

- Let me do this.- I am fine.

Sit down here.

Serve yourself.

You are sweating.

I am good.

Don't worry about me. Just go back to work.

¥20.

- Okay.- Thank you.- Come back again!

There's dirt.

Your shirt is dirty again.

- Look at my scratch from yesterday.- What happened?

When I was moving...

There was someone from your company, last time, who got hurt from saving a damsel in distress. How is he?

He's doing great.

He more or less has fully recovered.

That's good.

You don't seem to be from the same company as him.

Oh, such a coincidence! We also have a guy in our office injured because of helping others.

It's our responsibility to lend out a helping hand.

Do you think Cong Bo and Zhu Jiu are partners?

Based on how he acted that day, I don't think so.

Then, he is just a crazy guy addicted to the detective game?

Chief Zhao, please wait for a second.

I would like to invite you to dinner tonight if you have time.

Please accept.

Sure! It's you who invited me after all!

Professor Shen?

I'll go with you.

- Together?- Sure.

See you then.

- No problem. We are leaving first.- See you.

Goodbye.

What?

It really has come.

The enemy is in a covert position, while we are out in the open. We almost fell into his trap.

What's this?

Boss sent a video message.

- Repair the CCTV. Don't think I don't know you're slacking off. Fast.- Wow!

Old Zhao can really predict things.

Chief... is so...cool.

Going back to the main issue. How are we going to deal with this bug?

[Connected]

Our mission today is...

First mystery about the mysterious department: Vulgar music and poor taste.

How's my performance, Brother Chu?

You didn't even touch me! You tell me!

But according to your ability,

it's huge progress.

Thank you, Brother Chu, for teaching me!

Shut up. Keep on practicing.

Yes, Second Uncle?

Tonight?

Okay, I know.

Brother Chu, I have to leave first.

Sure.

Mystery number two,

have unusual power and can hurt people invisibly.

Each one is a weirdo.

The weirder, the more challenging.

Chief Zhao,

I feel so guilty as an uncle, I didn't pay much attention

on Changcheng's job.

If not because he mentioned it in passing this morning,

I would have thought he encountered some great luck to be transferred to Special Investigations by you.

Brother Guo,

Changcheng was not transferred by you?

Oh?

Never mind.

Please keep on.

Then, I will get straight to the point.

Chief, please put yourself into my shoes.

As I am his uncle, I know his ability and potentials.

He's not meant to be a detective.

I am afraid he can't bear the burdens and responsibilities.

Uncle, I can—

Chief Zhao,

this is what I think.

Is it possible to transfer him to another department?

To a more stable and safer position.

Uncle, can you ask for my approval first?

I don't want to leave!

- What I'm doing is for your own good!- I...

Do you know how dangerous the missions of Special Investigations are?

You will be fighting with those monsters every day

and be in grave danger!

Sorry.

Little Guo,

your uncle is correct as well.

It's better that you two have a good talk.

Brother Guo,

we'll leave you two to chat. We will leave first.

Sorry, Chief.

Uncle!

[Saiyufan]

Are you still worried about Guo Changcheng?

Not really.

It's another thing that's bothering me.

Why did Guo join us?

Yes.

I thought Guo was sent by his uncle,

but now, it seems

that Guo Ying really wants to pull his nephew out from this fiery pit.

If it's not him,

who else has such power and motive?

Forget it. Let's stop thinking about this.

Uncle,

I am indeed useless.

But in Special Investigations, everyone is very caring and supportive of me.

Even though I always drag them down,

they continue to take me to solve cases,

teach me fighting skills,

and protect me when danger comes.

It's them...

who gave me courage and confidence.

It's them...

who helped me find my value and the direction I should strive toward.

I really don't want to leave.

Uncle, here.

Help yourself as well.

There is another thing I am curious about.

Why is your reaction like that

when your father was mentioned at Seastar Administration?

Let's talk about that next time.

Don't be a killjoy and go "xu tan" with me.

What's is "xu tan?"

Brother Black,

you need to have a life.

"Xu tan" means we to go eat again.(Literally: continue with the next (food) stall)

I felt uncomfortable with that dinner just now.

And...

I have to officially introduce you to all my subordinates.

I told you so many times.

Do not touch all that rubbish.

The cat is the most superior creature in the food chain. We should always maintain our elegance and pride.

This way, people will come to ingratiate you.

By the way,

have you ever heard of Kun Lun?

As the king of the cats,

I couldn't even handle a few stray cats?

How come I can't speak cat language?

Mystery number 3,

talking nonsense at night, highly suspicious of being a cat abuser.

Hand it to me.

Mind your own business first.

Stop doing these sneaky things.

More content!

Mystery number 4,

rough enforcement and likes to threaten others.

It's meaningless to report these.

I still need a big scoop.

[Special Investigation]

You are late!

Drink three cups of beer or we take away your food as punishment!

I'm not eating.

- What happened?- Nothing.

Why did you bring Professor Shen here to eat this "dirty" food with us?

- He is an intellectual.- Why do you say that?

He is an intellectual, but we are not scoundrels. Right?

Stop.

I think you guys are full now.

I'll now announce your assignments.

First,

Zhu Jiu has not been caught yet, so keep working hard.

Second,

we have recently been monitored by some bored guy.

Be careful when you work and don't leave any evidence to him.

Third,

let me officially announce it.

Professor Shen Wei has officially joined our team

to be our honored guest consultant.

Come! Give him a round of applause!

Brother Black,

we are one family now.

Goodnight.

If you need anything, come to me anytime.

What thing would I need?

Come on.

Today is your first day joining us,

and I worry that...

you will be too excited and unable to sleep.

Bye, sleep early.

He looks so familiar.

Isn't he the hero at the Huang-Li wedding?

How come they work together now?

The breakthrough point...

is you.
