I've always had a partner.

So, on this solo challenge,

I'll know without a
doubt, if I make it 21 days,

that I did this on my own.

[Cheeny] It's all you out here.

The wins are your win.

The losses are your loss.

[Terra] I need to know
that I can do this myself

without anyone's
help or guidance.

[Suzanne] Taking on
these 21 days by myself,

really am totally going
into the unknown now.

But I refuse to let that fear stop
me from doing this challenge.

[James] All right, Africa.

Here he comes, whether
you're ready or not.

I don't want a stupid
mistake to take me out.

Looks like this is my stop.

[Jamie] Going into this
challenge is a bit daunting.

Every single task
that needs done

is going to be done by myself.

[Shanika] I'm hoping to get
through these 21 days and stay alive.

I was born alone,
I'm going to die alone.

So, I know I can
rock this alone.

Naked, wild and free in Africa.

[vulture screams]

[narrator] They've
tested themselves

in the most grueling
environments on Earth.

We got fire!

the value of teamwork

in overcoming
harrowing conditions.

[narrator] Now, eight of the
most battle-tested survivalists

will take on their
toughest challenge yet,

as they attempt 21
days with no partner,

[animal shrieks]

[narrator] to each take
on a separate location...

Solo.

- Yes!

That's a honker.

- [Fernando] This is no joke.
- [yells] Ah!

[Suzanne] This is the most
naked and afraid I've ever felt.

[man] Oh!

Why am I out here?

[Terra] You
either get it done...

...or die.

[grunting triumphantly]

All right.

Honey, I'm home.

[Cheeny] My name is Cheeny.

I am a wilderness
survival instructor.

And I'm from Maine.

Now, I'm in the challenge.

And it's just me.

Now, it's real.

I'm one of the few women

that have made it through
SERE Specialist Training.

SERE Specialist is an expert

in survival, evasion,
resistance and escape.

My SERE training really
helped me on the last challenge.

[Cheeny] Caught a fish!

I'm the best fisherman ever.

[laughs] Yes!

[Cheeny] Completing
my first challenge

was hands-down the
best experience of my life.

I can't think of a single
thing that I've ever done

that feels as good as day 21.

So, doing a solo challenge,

for me, life is all
about experiences.

And I can't think of a better, more
intense, awesome human experience.

So, it's probably 50
degrees out right now,

and quite breezy.

So, my main concern
out here with the cold is,

I've got a pretty significant
cold issue. I've got Raynaud's.

Raynaud's is a circulatory condition
that affects your hands and feet.

Basically, your
capillaries restrict.

And your hands and feet
will kind of turn a weird purple.

You just can't really feel
and you lose all dexterity.

Some of these little
shrubs are kind of sharp.

But even if there were thorns,
I probably would not feel them

because my feet are frozen.

I feel like I'm walking
on two ice blocks.

The only thing
that I can think of

that would take me
out would be the cold.

[narrator] To succeed in this
harsh environment during winter,

Cheeny will have to contend with
below-freezing temperatures at night

and a constant wind chill
that drops the temperature

an additional ten to 15 degrees.

[Cheeny sighs]

Boy, happy to see you.

[narrator] Each survivalist is
allowed to bring three items.

A map and a
fire-starter are provided.

Got my kukri.

I've got a pot.

Brought my fishing kit again.

Fire starter.

So happy to see this.

Animal skins.

[narrator] And because of the
cold conditions in the Karoo desert,

Cheeny is provided
pelts as an additional item.

So, just with that wind,

cutting right now,
I'm like, "Oh, my God,

I can't wait to wrap myself up in
this tonight like a little meat burrito."

Ooh.

All right, let's
get out the map.

This looks like a waterfall.

That's where I want
to spend three weeks.

So, just looking at trees around
me and the position of the sun,

I know that I need to
head east. Let's do this.

They say, "don't go
chasing waterfalls,"

but I've never been good
at following the rules, so.

All right. That way.

So happy I didn't shave my legs.

[narrator] The
survivalists each begin

with a Solo Survival
Rating, or SSR,

based on their self-reliance,

mental toughness and skills.

Cheeny's SSR begins at a 7.4.

[Cheeny] I'm going
to keep following

little game trails
down to the water.

All right.

So, I think this
is my waterfall.

Holy [bleep]

Look at that [bleep] catfish!

I mean, I could easily just go in
there with my kukri and get him.

But...

food is not my
priority right now.

Sun's going down. I need to find
a shelter, fire, all that good stuff.

And man, now I have
something to look forward to.

Oh, my gosh, I'm so excited.

I don't even think I'm
going to sleep tonight.

I'm just going to think
about that catfish all night.

[Suzanne] I think I see a
little bit of sunlight up ahead.

And that might be enough
of an opening for me to...

find some trees
to make a shelter.

[Suzanne] I'm
Suzanne from Virginia.

And this is my fifth time,

I'm doing a Naked
and Afraid Challenge.

I've always had partners.

Or at least, I always
started with partners.

On a previous challenge,

I had a partner that...

basically, not much
more than a lump on a log.

You think you can work on...

...adding to the sides
and back to the bowman

while I get firewood?

[Seth] Get me out of here.

[Suzanne] That's a
good partner, right there.

[Seth burps]

I'm leaving.

[Seth] You're leaving?

Like, you're leaving the challenge
or are you leaving the camp?

I'm leaving you.

It was literally worse than
having a toddler with me.

So, I'm looking forward
to being by myself.

[narrator] Suzanne has a deep
knowledge of primitive survival.

However, her failure to
complete her last two challenges

gives her an SSR of 6.9.

[Suzanne] Ah! God,
dang it. Oh! Ow, ow.

Stepped into a pile of ants.

Damn.

My first order of business is figuring
out how to get off this rotten ground

that obviously has ants on it.

Um, and probably
other crawly things.

I need to do that
before it's dark.

There's no way I can imagine
walking around here in the dark.

I need to have a place
at least for tonight.

[narrator] The
Guyanese rainforest,

with its dense canopy
and swampy terrain,

is one of the Earth's
oldest living ecosystems.

Rainstorms lasting
weeks are common,

resulting in over 90
inches of rain each year.

But the thousands of
bugs that crawl across

the rainforest floor

are an equally
formidable threat.

Including the bullet ants,
which have a sting so painful,

it feels like being
shot by a gun.

[Suzanne] I've been
into survival my whole life.

I actually grew up feral

because the household I
was in was just very toxic.

And I found comfort out there,

where there is no comfort.

This is part of that I want
to work smart, not hard.

I have a general idea
of how tall I want it

and I don't want to cut something
down and find out it's too short.

So, let me measure.

[Suzanne] In my opinion, if you're
going to call yourself a survivalist,

you should be able to survive
in whatever environment.

It's a give and take,
depending on where you are.

You're supposed to be smart enough
to apply your skills wherever you are.

And I'm feeling really
good about this challenge.

I'm excited for the unknown.

And I believe in myself

on getting all the way
through the challenge.

I need the sun to stay up another
four hours or so, maybe five.

That would be handy.

[hyenas squealing]

It's so dense.

And it looks like, lifeless.

You don't see anything.

Eerily quiet.

No real noises.

Very different from
my previous challenges.

My name is Fernando.

I'm a firefighter from
Simi Valley, California.

As a fire captain,

I definitely am familiar with
making decisions under duress.

In the fire service, we are often
brought in to very chaotic situations.

Often very dangerous situations.

And we have to
make the right decision

or people can die.

There's some parallels
to firefighting and survival.

I'm hoping that translates to
success out here on this challenge.

I've always done my challenges

in jungles and rainforests
around the world.

And this is a very,
very different location.

That's a pretty dense...

bush right there, I mean.

Yeah, you can't see very far.

Yeah, oh. Woah, woah, woah.

I almost walked right into that.

Go around that spider.

Don't want to be taken
out of the challenge

by a man-eating spider

on day one.

[narrator] The South
African savannah is home

to the Earth's most
dangerous animals.

Prides of lions roam,

capable of devouring a
700 pound zebra in minutes.

And herds of elephants
trample over 500 people a year.

[Fernando] Oh, yeah.

My machete.

Some arrows.

My bow. This is going to
be huge, 40 pound draw.

I've been working hard on this.

Getting my skills
up on my archery.

All right, looks like
there's some water,

out here, on the map,
which is going to be critical.

So, that's going to be the goal.

Head down and look
for these pools of water.

Okay. Let's go.

[Fernando] I always
have people around me

and I kind of get some
energy from those people.

Out here, alone, is going
to be a whole different story.

Now, can I just
rely solely on me?

Because solitude can
be a form of torture.

[narrator] Fernando comes in
having successfully completed

his three previous
challenges, totaling 82 days.

He brings a wealth
of survival knowledge,

and begins with an SSR of 8.1.

[Fernando] Even though I've
done 82 days surviving naked

in various jungles
around the world,

I feel very small
and vulnerable,

here in Africa.

Wow.

That's a big hole.

Something did that.

Elephants dig pretty deep holes in
these dry riverbeds looking for water.

The good thing about this is,
they're doing the work for me.

I'm not going to be trying to
dig here because I know it's dry.

The elephants have dug this area up
and there's no water coming through, so,

I'm going to use the
elephants digging ability

and hopefully, it will give me
a heads up where the water is.

This is a good spot.

It's nice and cool in here.

I want to get like, the basic...

part of my shelter
set up and done.

So that I'm good for the night.

And then, hopefully
get a fire started.

I just want to do something
simple, like, maybe just a lean-to.

[Kaila] I'm Kaila. I'm a
knife-maker from New Hampshire.

I've done 21 days in Colombia,

40 days in South Africa.

I was supposed to
do 60 days in Peru

and tapping out on the last
challenge was so hard for me

because that's not me at all.

Just hurts. Everything hurts.

Just can't deal
with like, the pain.

I'm just getting eaten alive

by more bugs.

here doing this solo challenge

trying to redeem myself.

[narrator] Kaila has survived
more than 60 days in the wild.

And is an experienced
bow-hunter.

[Kaila] Oh, my gosh.

[woman] Naked
and Afraid history,

the first two girls
to ever get a big kill

- I'm getting a [bleep]
- Ever.

[narrator] But her
lack of solo experience,

and recent XL Challenge exit,

have shaken her confidence.

She begins with an SSR of 7.3.

[Kaila] Since I am
out here by myself,

I don't have anybody
to have my back.

So, definitely want a
shelter before nightfall

to keep the predators away.

[narrator] The Tanquizul
Forest of Mexico

are rich in resources,

but abundant
with lethal animals.

The highly venomous fer-de-lance

is responsible for
more human fatalities

than any other snake in
the western hemisphere.

And the forest's largest
predator, the jaguar,

has a bite force that can
snap the neck of a crocodile.

[Kaila] Everyone's always
like, "You're so bad-ass."

But I don't see myself that way.

So, I think doing
this challenge,

hopefully, I can
start looking at myself

the way that other
people see me.

I'm happy with the progress
that I'm making so far.

Fire is so important out here
for so many different reasons.

Definitely, my biggest concern is
to keep the predators away at night.

This stuff is like, kind of
damp and it's so humid out.

So, it's hard to
get this started.

It's like, it starts to go

and then it
immediately goes out.

Man, I don't get it.

Come on.

[Kaila] I am getting
a little discouraged.

If I can't get fire, I'm
going to be devastated.

The odds of
predators, like jaguars,

or fer-de-lance snakes

coming into the area and
kind of creeping around

and seeing what's
going on are very real.

I'm pretty [bleep] if I
can't get a fire tonight.

[Fernando] My mouth...

is getting really dry.

Water right now, is more
valuable to me than gold.

Oh!

There's an elephant right there.

[whispering] Holy crap.

It makes this place
so much more real.

We're actually seeing
a massive elephant.

I think its drinking water
out of one of its holes.

Well, the elephant
led me to water.

I'm going to have to be careful.

This might be his water.

You don't want to piss
off a big, African elephant.

Jesus.

[Fernando] Jesus.

Oh! A zebra.

That is insane.

Oh, my goodness.

Okay, so,

the elephant has moved off.

I'm going to take a look
at this watering hole.

Um...

It's amazing how the elephant was like,
this critical role in me finding water.

This looks like it's
fed from a spring.

There's no actual creeks
or rivers coming into this.

This is coming
from the ground up.

This is a huge
check mark off my list

of concerns, day one.

And now I want to begin to
look for a place to set up camp.

Something that provides
some protection around me.

[Kaila] It's like, it starts
and then it goes out.

If I can't get fire, I'm
going to be devastated.

Everything is so damp.

[Kaila] Tapping out on the last
challenge hurt my confidence, you know?

It really messed
with my head a lot.

So, my biggest hope doing
this solo challenge is just that

I become more
confident with myself.

Yay! I got my fire all started.

Super excited.

Fire is so important out here,

and I am just super
thankful that I got it started.

Yes! Now, I can move on to...

finishing up my shelter.

- [bird squealing]

Hey, it's Cheeny.

I'm here in the high
desert of South Africa.

Exertion day, it's
been a long, cold day.

And my shelter's done.

Now, I've got to collect firewood
because the sun is going down.

I probably have an
hour left of daylight.

So, I've got to collect as
much wood as possible

because it is going
to be freezing tonight.

Freezing.

[Suzanne] Almost the
end of day one and...

I kind of only barely
have something

to lie on.

Um, normally,

I prefer to be on the ground.

But with the number of
ants that bit my foot today,

and I really don't feel
like having any of those

big spiders crawling over me
or any of the snakes or anything,

I have to be up off the ground.

There just isn't
any way around it.

I'm hoping that I don't
get pummeled by rain

because I have no roof.

And if I think I'm going to
be up off the floor tonight,

I probably should
get on this now.

In case it doesn't hold me,

I have at least
a little bit of light

to try to problem
solve something else.

So, here goes nothing.

Okay, so, I'm up
on the platform.

See.

And it's not very comfortable.

[animal squawking]

[Fernando] Night one is
where this challenge gets real.

Anyone who's done this
challenge before knows,

it's all fun and games
until the night comes.

[bird squawking]

There is...

so much animal
activity happening.

Freaking, like, right there.

There's herds of elephant and
there's Cape buffalo everywhere.

- [animals grunting]
- [birds cawing]

We're going to
see what I've got.

We're going to see if I can
stay mentally in this game

because this is the
first time I'll be myself,

alone, at night.

There is going to be
very little sleep tonight.

[Cheeny] It's frigid.

The front of me is
still exposed and...

then that cold air hits
me and it's like, "Wow."

So [bleep] cold.

Woah, God dammit.

There will be no sleep.

No sleep at all.

[thunderclap]

Sounds like a storm's coming.

They're everywhere.
I mean, everywhere.

One step away from,
like, lions and leopards.

[animal screams]

I can legit hear the
animals breathing.

I can hear their lung sounds.

[animal growls]

[roaring and squealing]

[Fernando] Oh, boy.

[Suzanne] You know what's sad?

Even though I made
a raised platform,

to get away from all the
creepy-crawlies on the ground.

I feel raindrops.

And I think I hear heavy rain.

I don't have a roof.

I just hope that it's not
some kind of major storm.

Jeez.

Clearly, it's going
to rain all night.

And to take matters
into my own hands,

and try to grab as
many leaves as I can,

to put on top of where
I was going to sleep.

And I'm going to
go underneath it

because apparently, I should
have made a roof tonight

instead of a place to sleep.

At least I feel like
I've tried something.

It's got to be better than just
having rain come straight through

like I have right now.

I'm going to
attempt to fall asleep

in the Guyanese rainforest

while raining.

Alone.

I'm cold and wet.

This is the most naked
and afraid I have ever felt.

[Cheeny] It is so cold.

You can see my breath.

The grass is covered in frost.

Frosty grass, frosty brush.

Everything is just...

covered in frost.

I would have been so
screwed without these skins.

I burnt through almost
all my firewood last night.

I already know that the next
21 days are going to be hard

because I'm going to
have to collect a lot of wood.

I have to walk
pretty far to get wood.

My feet have been cold.

My last three outer
toes have been numb.

That was the coldest part of my
body last night, besides my ass.

Or my feet.

I'm trying to figure out how I'm
going to make these dang shoes.

I've seen how people just do
around and then they do holes

and then they just kind
of wrap it around their foot.

And they scrunch it.

So, I'm going to use
this wildebeest hide.

I've cut off parts of it that
don't really work for the blanket,

like, parts that stick out.

There's one foot.

Using up the hides a little
bit more than I would like

but man, I can't really
put a price on shoes.

Sewing...

moccasin number two.

My feet have been cold

but I haven't had any of the
classic Raynaud's flare-up

signs of them turning
white or yellow.

So, what I'm doing here is
taking my fish-hook needle

and I'm running it through,

and I'm doing a
rolling lock stitch.

That way, if one stitch
does get snagged,

all the other stitches
won't come undone.

It's taking a long time.

But this hide blocks
the wind really well.

And it's a lifesaver.

I got shoes!

You can definitely tell which one was the
first one, which one was the second one.

That is a little
rougher than this one.

This is so great!

[Fernando] There was so
much animal activity last night.

It was insane.

The whole night, it was
just snorts and grunts

and different animals
and bushes rustling.

It was a long night for me.

So, I found all kinds of
new tracks this morning.

The spotted hyena.

You can see it's
little dog-like paws

and it's claw marks
at the tips there.

So, along with the
elephants and the buffalo,

there's also lion and hyena
running through here last night.

It's like a full zoo.

I have water set up, I
have shelter, I have fire.

I think next step is food.

So, I'm going to
head down to the area

where most of the
animals have been going

and set up a blind.

And start Operation
Fernie, The Bowhunter.

I'm not a bowhunter normally,

but I'm alone. There's
no one else to rely on.

I need to go out there
and hunt and find things.

[grunts]

I'm looking to put my
hunting blind right here.

I'll be in the middle
of this mopane tree.

I will cover
various sides of it.

And this provides me really good
access to various watering holes

to incoming kudu or impala.

The only problem is...

I can see elephants down there.

And there are actually
some more elephants

which you probably can't see.

But they're coming down there.

This is like, the 405
Freeway of elephant traffic.

And so, I'm going to be
smack dab in the middle of it.

Hopefully, concealed,

and hopefully, waiting for
unsuspecting plains animal

to get a drink.

I want to cover my scent.

My scent is my biggest
giveaway, I feel like,

to the animals.

So, some elephant dung.

That doesn't feel good.

Oh [bleep]

There's kudu in the riverbed.

It's really far away.

I'm going to try to
stalk and shoot it.

[elephant trumpets]

And just like that...

gone.

[Suzanne] Night one
was a miserable night.

Worst night ever, for
one of my night ones.

The number one
thing that I need to do,

is get some kind of
roof on the shelter.

Ah!

I hope this is not as
frustrating as I fear it will be.

I'm trying to make a fire,

so I can stay warm,
but everything is wet.

All my other environments to
make fire were nice and dry.

This is a difficult
environment for me.

It is my mission to get a fire.

I'm going to try to
find a termite nest.

People say that termite nests will
light on fire whether they're wet or dry.

And here's a big one.

So, I'm going to just
take a chunk of it.

Because I'm going to have to take
whatever resources I can and get fire.

In Ecuador, Wes and I
couldn't get a fire and...

he never did get a fire.

[Suzanne] But we figured out
how to get warm and how to sleep.

But out here, I am alone.

So discouraging.

Okay, no fire.

This termite nest, not working.

I need something different.

Look at this tree first.

This might be what I want.

I'm going to go
make a fishing spear.

This guy right here.

Yes.

I love this thing.

Yeah!

Perfect.

So, now, I'm going
to take my fish spear

and I'm going to wedge
it in the tree behind me,

so it stays put.

Then we're going
to split this four ways.

Try to make a prong.

Again, nice and easy.
I don't want this to split.

Caruzilla is a monster catfish.

I cannot wait until I
can get back there

and fish him out.

[Cheeny] Holy [bleep]

Man, now I have
something to look forward to.

Oh, my gosh, I am so excited.

Now, to fire-harden it.

That's just going to make
the wood a little more dense.

My fish spear has
been fire-hardened.

And I think it's ready to go.

So, I think I'm going
to go for a little walk.

And I'm going to go see if I can
find my good friend, Caruzilla.

I can't even fathom
this fish, right now.

Like, I don't even know
what to do with it. It's so big.

Today is going way better
than I planned it to go.

I mean, talk about
a roller coaster.

Africa is just a roller coaster.

I couldn't be happier.

You put up a good fight, though.

So, I feel like I earned
that fish a little bit.

[Suzanne] Day three.

And it actually
feels like day 23.

Only because of how I'm
physically feeling today.

I am going to attribute
it to poor sleep.

It is not an easy
thing, to sleep on logs.

And not having warmth
makes a difference.

I'm waking up every 20
minutes or so, shivering.

I'm going to try to find a
dead tree that is still standing.

Chop into the center of it,

and I should be able to
find some drier wood there.

I have a chunk of termite
but it's not catching.

That's not what I need.

Might be getting there.

All right, let's get
this fire started.

So, the magnesium burned up.

It did not help catch
anything on fire.

This stuff is as dry
as it can possibly be.

I got everything from
the inner shavings

of a dead tree that
was standing upright.

I have a little chunk
of termite in here.

I even have chunks
of my fire starter...

candle in here.

With some magnesium.

That was quick.

I'm trying to think if there is
anything that I can do right now

to be in a different
place today.

I'm using all of my
normal fire-making skills

along with everything I know you're
supposed to do in a wet environment,

and I am not having success.

[Cheeny] Pretty good day.

I've got Caruzilla.

Monster catfish.

I have the water boiling.

Sun's going down.
Everything is perfect.

Catfish has to be done by now.

The skin is, like, once
the air hits it and it cools,

it gets pretty gelatinous.

Which is good because
that's the collagen.

Collagen is very,
very good for you.

Kind of tastes like
fishy egg whites.

My plan is to take the
meatiest pieces off him,

and try to slice those thin

so, I can smoke them
to preserve them for later.

And then I'm going to use
some of the smaller chunks

that aren't really
sufficient for smoking,

and I'm going to boil
that to make a fish soup.

Yeah, today was
actually really good.

I'm quite happy with it and...

now I've got the
night ahead of me.

And I hope tonight is
not as bad as last night.

I'm hoping to get
a little more sleep.

And be a little warmer.

Only one way to find out.

[Suzanne] It has rained
a couple of times today.

This is better than it was.

Worked hard to get
my shelter in a place

where I could make
it through the rains.

And I can't stop it.

And I am really
feeling traumatized.

I can't even tell if I'm
taping this correctly

because I can't
even see the lens.

This is going to be a
really long, cold night.

I think I have to go poop.

Yeah. I should definitely
try now, before I go out there.

It's like shopping. It's like
a rock shopping center.

The sales associate is like,
"Hey, how can I help you?"

"Hey, I'm looking for a rock."

"Okay. What are your
needs for the rock?"

"Well..."

A small egg-shaped rock
is actually the best thing

to use to wipe your
butt after you poop.

Rocks, we take them
for granted, but man,

they're a valuable tool.

Everyone thinks leaf.

You don't want leaf.

Leaf is like, slick on slick.

Small, egg-shaped rock is like,

rough traction on slick.

Way better wiping.

This is a good rock.

Sorry. That was weird.

[Suzanne] Morning of day four.

And last night was miserable.

It was bad.

I will never forget that.

The canopy doesn't
hold a heavy rain.

And so, I got wet...

again, last night.

And I couldn't sleep.

If I had a fire, it would
have been put out last night.

And I can't even think of how
to make the roof any better

with the materials
that I have at hand.

Out here, it's not fear of
the jaguar coming to get me

but the sound of rain...

direction is terrifying.

I'm like, to the point
where I'm petrified of night.

I cannot take 17
more nights like this.

If I have one
more night like this,

I don't know what I would do.

Suzanne, to producer.

[producer] Hey,
go ahead, Suzanne.

Could you please
come to my camp?

- Hey.
- [producer] What's going on?

So, um,

after night one, I
worked hard to get a roof

and make sure that I was going
to be protected from the rains.

But it didn't work.

It didn't work against the heavy
rains that we had last night.

And it was so bad

that I found myself crying
in the middle of the night.

And...

I can't remember a time
where I've ever felt like that.

That bad.

And I cannot imagine going
through another night like that.

You know, you
don't feel as though

you could safely do
another night out here,

you know, what
would you like to do?

Right this minute,
because it's not raining,

I'm like, "Okay,
yeah, I got this."

And then, when I start
thinking about nightfall,

and being in pitch black,

with the rains and the not
knowing when it's going to end,

like, I can't do that.

So, I need to stop.

Do you want us to
get you out of here?

I do. I need to leave.

I don't feel like I
made any major...

mistakes as far
as survival itself.

But in this environment
where I'm totally wet,

freezing and I can't
get comfortable,

I mean, I can't remember the
last time I was hurting this bad.

[Suzanne] I don't think you can
accurately describe how hot this is...

[woman] How
scorched this earth is.

Oh, my God!

[Suzanne] Honestly, I thought that I
would be so much better on my own.

But being alone,

this is just a different
level of survival.

Just the thought of having
another night like last night,

it brings me to tears.

Feeling traumatized.

[motorboat revving]

[narrator] After only four days
in the Guyanese rainforest,

Suzanne's departure

[Suzanne] This is
my fifth challenge.

But it's the first time that I've
been this naked and afraid.

I can't. I just can't
do it anymore.

[Shanika] This is definitely
not what I envisioned.

[Kaila] I've never been
alone in any of my challenges.

[Jamie] Oh...

[Fernando] Having a partner
would make things easier.

I'm in disbelief.
I can't believe it.

[Shanika] Oh, I was
not expecting that.

[laughs]

Scorpion on a stick.

[Fernando] Bigger
than the last one.

[Jamie] I see a spider monkey.

[imitating monkey cries]

[Jamie] I can only imagine this
is the first naked person it's seen.

And it's looking down thinking,

"What the hell is that?"

[Fernando] I am definitely
feeling the pressure right now.

[Kaila] Being alone
makes it ten times worse.

- I just want to go home.
- [Fernando] I've had enough of this.

I'm done.

[Terra] It's a 21 day marathon.

I've got to go
figure it out myself.
