for the only European event of F1

Academy in 2025. Qualifying is about to

begin at Zanvort in the Netherlands.

Welcome from me, Ben Edwards, as we

prepare for what is going to be a

demanding session on the edge of the

North Sea. Xanvort is always a

challenging circuit and the weather can

make life a little difficult, too. We've

got some dampness on the track at the

moment. It's a challenging track, as I

say, with 2.6 mi, 4.2 km, lots of

elevation change, 14 corners, and banked

corners at angles rarely seen. This

qualifying session will determine the

grid for the main race of the weekend

offering the most points while the top

eight qualifiers will be reversed for

the race later this afternoon. Joining

me is a winner at this circuit in the

past, Alice Pal and Alice. This is a

track where pushing the limits can often

lead to contact with the walls or

getting stuck in the gravel. Good

morning everyone. Yes, it certainly can

and uh we've seen plenty of that over

the weekend in across all support series

here and including Formula 1 as well.

and Chloe Chambers. She had a slight off

yesterday in free practice where we did

see some mixed conditions. Some drivers

did venture out on the wet tire. These

drivers only get two sets of wet tires

to use for the entire weekend. There's

no intermediates, there's no full wets.

It's just one standard wet tire. So, uh

tricky conditions are going to be faced

with these drivers. Then

so we've got the session just getting

underway now and we had a quick look at

Dorian Pan who leads the series at the

moment and she's in great form whether

she's going to be able to continue in

that way. She is very very controlled

when conditions are tricky like this. As

you can see they are all out on their

wet tires because of the rain that has

been overnight but the sun is coming up

as you say and in some areas it will be

drying out quite quickly. So whether

they will be able to switch tires later

in this session with half an hour, we

shall find out.

Well, looking there, Ben, from that

shot, that beautiful shot at turn three,

we've had no action on circuit at all

today. And already there's a slight dry

line. Now, these Pirelli wets that they

have in F1 Academy are pretty soft,

which is why we didn't see many of the

drivers uh take to the the track on the

wet tire yesterday, purely because it'll

just chew those wets up. Some did

venture out on the the slick tire, but

riding on board with Ella Lloyd now.

Trying to find a bit of space out there.

It looks like majority of the cars, all

bar um Jakonte, Mayorg, and the the

three Campos racing cars have decided to

stay in the pits, but it's a slightly

shorter session that we usually get in

free practice. So, uh standard 30

minutes in qualifying. Also, great to

see Nina Gabin back out, who of course

missed free practice yesterday. just

needed a few medical checks, but she's

fit and well to race today and she turns

22 today. So, happy birthday to Nina

indeed. Yes, that's absolutely right.

Looking at Esby Costerman here, who is

the wildcard entry. Uh, so the third

Dutch driver actually to be competing

this weekend. It's great that we've got

three Dutch women competing in F1

Academy here at Zambol this weekend. And

I've been quite impressed with the paces

she's been doing so far in the practice

sessions actually because we haven't yet

seen a wild card entry this year take

any points but she's been looking pretty

promising. Yeah, we exactly we haven't.

And uh we did see last year um just seen

one of the drivers who was a wild card

last year, Alicia Pamoski, she took

points at Katar. We also had Nina Ga

here last year.

She did a good job points here. So uh

it' be good to see Esme in the team

viewer livery which features the faces

of over 200 women which is inspired by

the visibility drives change campaign.

And we hear from Khloe Chong. The bowl

is completely dry, but the rest of the

track is completely wet.

Understood.

Oh, Chicante has gone off already. Uh,

sorry. Yeah. Well, um, yeah, it's

Anagnosti. Sorry. It's Anagnosti who's

gone off. Eva Anagnosti, the 18-year-old

Australian who unfortunately has gone

down at turn one, uh, presumably locked

up. That is so frustrating. She's not

going to be getting out of there,

unfortunately. So, there is a puddle on

the Yeah, you are unfortunately stuck,

Ava. There is a puddle. I just could see

off of shot there that as you head down

into turn one. So, either she's got

driven through that on the the slippy

part of the track or potentially she has

tried to come off the racing line and

break off the rubber and just purely

locked up. But, she's gone in backwards.

But we will catch a replay as we see the

fantastic marshals go out to quickly

recover her car. A little look in the

middle of the shot there.

Yep.

Oh, it's contact between the two

teammates actually. So that's Nicole

Havda. Both

racing for high-tech GP.

Oh dear. That is a little bit

unfortunate, isn't it? That Oh yeah, she

touched and that just spun around. There

was nothing she could do about that.

What happened?

The car just ran up my and put me in the

gravel.

Oh, that is hard because they'll have to

recover that car. It can't get out of

the gravel. She won't be going back out,

I wouldn't think, in this session. No,

once you've uh caused that red flag and

um Nicole Hara will have uh for both

races a 10 place grip penalty and each

for overtaking under the red flag

yesterday, but as expected that incident

between both Hava and Agnostiardis as

well is under has been un will be under

investigation for causing a collision.

So not a great start to the session for

for Hi-Tech. No, it's not a great start.

And uh yeah, you almost wonder whether

there might even be another penalty for

Nicole Havda. I mean, that was just a

little incident in a way, but she was

the one that made contact with her

teammate. And unfortunately, that means

that Anagnosiadis is definitely going to

be starting down at the back of the grid

for the race for both races. Remember,

it's the top eight that will be reversed

on the grid for the first race of the

weekend, which takes place this

afternoon. the second race which gets

the most points on Sunday. That of

course will line up as they qualify

today. But nobody set any times yet

obviously because we're into a red flag

period. And this actually will give

everybody a chance to just report back

to their teams, tell them what the grip

levels are like and what they think they

might get to. Let's just have another

look at this uh from a slightly

different view.

So we'll see Ava moves Ava does move

slightly left. She does

into the the path of HRA. You can just

see

she's locked up though for Hava for

quite a long time.

I think obviously she didn't mean to do

it at all.

No.

Did Nicole Hava in the American Express

car? Um so be interested to see what

approach the Stewart take on that. So

keep up to date with that by following

F1 Academy socials and on the website as

well for any updates regarding that. But

uh a short very short session for Ava.

But the clock has stopped. It will

always does in qualifying. So we still

have 27 minutes and 30 seconds

remaining.

Yeah. So I do feel for Ava, but uh let's

hope that the day goes a little better

later on. So we've got Alicia Tamoski

there who did a very good job in first

practice session yesterday and another

one to keep an eye on because she's been

performing well over the course of the

season so far. FP1 to the 1381. We're

not going to be seeing those sort of lap

times in this in these conditions. Of

course, now that they're on the wet

tires, it was a wet qualifying last

year, wasn't it?

It was a wet qualifying last year and uh

plenty of drivers on the grid did take

part in that. For example, Dorian Pan,

she got the second fastest lap time. So,

she was pled for the first for the

second race. Abby Pulling took overall

poll with a 146.746.

We had Maya Berg. She qualified fourth

in qualifying, wrong one results. Nina

Gabin, who was the wild card, did a

great job. She was sixth. Chloe Chambers

was seventh, block eighth. So, plenty of

drivers have had experience of uh

qualifying in the wet here at Zambort.

Well, Alicia Tamoski has uh been testing

here around the Zanvort circuit and she

really has enjoyed it. Let's hear from

her.

testing was really really positive. It's

my first time at this track. Um and I'm

a huge fan. It's a really old school

circuit, really technical, very very

challenging. Um it's very physically

demanding on the drivers. Um there's no

margin for error as well. The walls,

gravel, grass, everything going on is

very very close. So um the margins

between drivers are very small as well.

So expecting a tough weekend ahead, but

big fan of the track.

So Alicia Palmoski her 10th year of

racing amazingly. She began in 2015 when

she was only 8 to 9 years old. Um, but

she's been impressive in F1 Academy so

far this year and we'll just have to see

how it develops over the course of the

the last time in Montreal. Things didn't

go quite so well for her. That was one

of the more disappointing weekends, but

otherwise she's done very well.

She has. She certainly has. And it was

an instant packed uh three races we had

at Montreal. We were really treated to

three great races. And Alicia, it wasn't

a great race weekend overall. The pace

was there but just wasn't able to put it

together. There was a few incidents as

well. Nine points overall at Montreal in

all three of those races. So, she'll be

looking for a much better weekend and

she actually dropped out of the top

three uh in the championship as well.

So, she dropped behind Ella Lloyd who so

she sits in fifth place at the moment.

56 points a drift of uh of Dorian Pan

who's at the top of the times. Chloe

Chambers giving us a little update

there. track is drying quickly and it

does here at Zambort. Leah Blowlo, she's

got plenty of clean air. She's been out

rallying recently back in at home in the

US and took a podium racing in her her

mom's full Fiesta Rally 3 car and uh

perfect conditions for her then really

for for Leo Block. She sets the pace

early on in this session, passes of

anybody in the first sector so far. And

it's actually fun for us to be able to

ride on board with her because it gives

us a bit of a view of the track. And we

can start to see there are some slightly

drying areas, but there are some quite

damp patches, particularly under

braking. And you can see that she's

playing with the lines a little bit.

Looking for a slightly dry line. She's

not using the normal dry line you would

use. She's looking for the grip. She

Exactly. She is. But the question is

going to be for these drivers is when do

you make the change over to the slick

tire? You don't want to go too early,

but you don't want to go too late. We've

got 24 minutes of the session remaining

and with track temperatures and air

temperature both exactly at 19°. It's

going to be difficult to generate that

temperature in the slick tire. It's

harder to warm them up when you've got a

patchy drying circuit like this.

However, the sooner you can get out on

that slick tire gives you more chance to

when the track is is much drier towards

the end of the session. So, it's going

to be interesting to see who makes the

the jump, who takes the gamble to to

potentially go to the slick tire to

possibly have the best tire come the end

of the session. But Nobles has jumped Le

Block. They're a couple of seconds off

the pace of what uh was being set last

year. Ella Lloyd, I was just about to

say these are her ideal conditions. She

loves driving in the wet. Again, a

driver with rally experience. Just runs

slightly wide as she heads through into

turn 11. Uh she's the fastest of anyone

in the first two sectors at the moment.

Yeah, this could be a very good lap by

Ella Lloyd and uh she did extremely well

here in the British GB4 when they were

racing here at Zanvort a couple of

months ago. So she knows this track very

well now and has had some good

experience, been a podium finisher in

British F4. So um let's just see as she

goes across the line. Yeah. So she's

second fastest. Maya Ver actually sets

the pace 1483. Lloyd does a 1487. It's

all pretty close. And Tina Houseman now

there you're looking at her number 78.

She's now popped up into second place.

We've got a car off I think. Uh yeah,

somebody ran wide at turn one, got back

on again. Um that's not surprising. It's

still tricky conditions out there and we

are some way away. We're about 10

seconds away from what they were doing

in the dry.

Yeah. So, it's a a big change for for

the drivers again. They're just going to

have to see. You can see this is a lap

ago. This was looking very different.

You can see how quickly that sun is is

pretty strong. We've got a little bit of

a breeze out there as well and a strong

strong breeze actually, which is going

to help the the track drive even

quicker. But there is a pretty much a

dry line all the way around there

through into turn nine, which will bleed

over to the right hand side. This is

turn 10 now. But you can just see this

car still snaking around. However, it

can be a little bit deceiving at times

because when you do have a a wet tire

that meets a dry part of the circuit,

obviously it gets quite hot the surface

of the wet tire and then it's moving on

the blocks then essentially. You can see

Maya was just desperately trying to find

a bit of wet track there. So, someone's

someone's going to make the decision

soon. I can feel it's going to happen uh

quite quickly and already she's not

setting personal bests in that middle

sector. So, is this potentially Ben

going to be uh the start of the

crossover? Gets a bit of a snap of over

steer there.

It's this is impressive to watch though,

riding on board with Maya Berg, who of

course was championship leader until

Montreal was an absolutely nightmare

weekend for her. Let's just see. So, she

does a 1480 53 a little bit quicker, but

we're still not quite down to the sort

of dry weather that they'll need to put

the slicks on, but Mayberg really need

we need to keep an eye on her. She's

third in the championship now having

lost out in Canada. Oh, there you see

going down is Khloe Chambers who has had

the pole positions last three events,

the main uh pole positions and she

obviously ran a bit late into turn one

and she's not the only one. Nina Gman

did it as well.

Yeah, Nina just going wide. They have to

take that escape road that you can see

all drivers there. You can't take the

shortcut. Not that you want to through

through the gravel. Susie Wolf watches

on Keen I of course across all the

drivers. great support for all the girls

that are out there racing. So, Nah's on

a lap now. Comes across the line. She

would of course have been off. So, that

first sector would have been quite a bit

off the pace. But just looking at the

timing screen, there's no one really,

particularly in the top six that are

setting personal bests. So, has that

mean that these wet tires are just not

agreeing with the track surface at the

moment? It's still quite slippy at this

part of the circuit. Yeah. But then you

head into the bowl where Chloe Chong

said it's was drying very quickly and

you can see there's a a dry line all the

way across at the top.

Yeah. Well, just on the exit there's a

slight dampness. But you're absolutely

right because it's fascinating looking

at where there are some drier areas and

wetter areas. Is anybody going to take

the risk to put on some slicks before

the end of this session? We have just

under 20 minutes to go in qualifying

here for F1 Academy. and these young

women who are trying to prove their

abilities in slippery conditions as

well. This is uh going to be fun to see

how this goes. Now we're on board with

the series leader Dorian Pam and she is

setting fastest sectors as you can see.

Sector one and sector two. She's got a

bit of traffic up ahead.

Looks too agree.

Oh

yeah,

interesting. People are going to start

switching.

Here we go. So the arts, both arts of

Orier Nobles and Leah Block are in the

pits. Dorian Pan is the only person out

on track that uh looks like they're

going to string a lap together that's

going to really boost her much further

up the order. This is looking like if

this last sector is good, she's going to

jump ahead to the top of times. Yeah,

just over two and a half ts quicker. El

Melbour has improved. Nina Gman's going

to improve as well. Jakonte further down

the field has improved. So, everyone's

going to be having a little look when

eventually Nobles and Block do come out

of pit lane. They're going to be seeing

how are they going to be getting on

looking as well. Courtney Cone is now in

the pits. Nina, great job from her up

into third place.

It just shows you how the track is

improving now because the lap times are

are jumping up a little bit more and

we're definitely uh under 10 seconds

below what they should. Well, around 10

seconds still, but when they put the

slicks on, there is every chance. I

think they're making the right decision

here. You got to go for it because it is

drying out quite nicely. Let's have a

look. Alba last number 12 you're looking

at there. Yeah, she heads down. Oh, down

onto turn one. And there's our uh wild

card entry as well, Esme Costermanman,

who has also gone deep, but that was

partly cuz I think the car went off in

front of her. And Ella Lloyd. Oh,

through the gravel. Did she get it out

the gravel? Yes, she did. My goodness.

You got to keep going when you're in the

gravel, otherwise it just gets stuck.

But she she dealt with that quite well.

Did put a few gravel stones on the road.

Yeah. So, she's managed to to to get

back on track. So, nobody else. Uh Brian

Pan's on a cool lap. Mber's on a push

lap. Chloe Chong's on a push lap.

I think the tires start to get chewed

up.

Okay. Do you think it's safe to gamble

for Slicks?

I think it's still wet still.

It's an interesting one. I mean, you was

you were saying earlier how these

Pirelli wet tires are quite a soft wet

tire and that's sort of what they're

talking about and that's clearly what

Chloe's talking about there. The tires

are not at their best and because they

have a limited number of tires to use

over the weekend and of course the

possibility of more rain for both races

coming up over the weekend. They have to

look after them.

They certainly do. So Alba Len has

improved

her lap time there. So we're seeing a

few drivers go into. So there's Courtney

Cone. She's bottled on a set of slicks.

Now some of the drivers are coming in.

Interesting to see whether they're

deciding they're going to change to

slicks. Dorian Pan's one of those used

in the pits at the moment. Tina House

Ver. So Block is on slicks now.

Yeah.

And uh you just need to survive the

first two three laps when you go out

track like this.

You can hear the wheel spin there.

Interesting to see if that the likes of

Pan and Maya Ver are going to take the

gamble or they're just going to bleed

the pressures down. Obviously the

pressures in the wets would have jumped

quite high and whether they're going to

maybe take the gamble or they're going

to bleed the wets down and come back

out. They're all going to be keeping a

very keen eye on the lap times of the

likes of Block Nobles and of course

we've seen Courtney Cone who's going out

there as well

and it is quite snappy. Let's have a

look. That's Emma Felmire and that is

slick tires being bolted on to her car

there. Yeah, this is going to be really

interesting to see how the slick tires

do work. Um, and where you can find the

grip and you may well need to use a

slightly different line to make sure

that you're staying onto the drier part.

But for certain somebody like Leo, as

you say, with her rallying experience,

it really is something she's going to

have a go at. She's got great car

control of course from that rally

experience. But Dorian Pan is also now

going on to the slick tires as well. see

whether she can continue her

championship lead. She's got that lead

of 20 points over Khloe Chambers um and

is in a very strong position at this

stage. There we are looking at Leah as

she'll start to pick up the pace a

little bit more on this next lap. She

will. We just saw flashing up the top of

the screen. Ella Lloyd under

investigation for not following the race

direction instructions and the

instructions we already spoke about were

you have to go straight on. But she was

quite far around the corner when she got

that snap of over steer. So, we'll see

how they deal with that. But the

advantage with Block being out so early

on is she's get just getting temperature

into these slick tires. She's going to

get a good feel because, as I said,

look, there's no you can't do any

weaving there because if you

if you do, it's so wet down that

straight. That's going to be so easy to

easy to give you a kick of over steer.

You can see fighting the car all the way

around.

So, she'll still be bleeding up to

temperatures. You're going to have to

navigate it. There's that Esme in the

team viewer car just in front.

Let's have a look from uh riding on

board with Le Block. It's a bit tricky

when you got to deal with some traffic

as well. Um because you're trying to

find that dry line and if the other the

traffic's on the dry line, then you're

in a bit of trouble particularly when

you're on the slicks. Let's watch.

Listen to her on the throttle there.

More smooth. You've got to be a little

more cautious on the throttle, haven't

you?

You have. So, this is definitely the

100% the right um decision to go on

these tires. Let's have a look. Just

enough. 40.4 four in the first sector

and for reference Dorian Pandanda at a

37.196.

So

3 seconds off at the moment.

3 seconds off at the moment, but that's

just going to improve and it's just

going to get better. 14 minutes of the

session left as we've got plenty of

drivers coming out the pits now. All

three Premier cars are on their way out

and uh Nobles is coming out as well.

Hagrida is another driver that's that's

coming out. all will be uh as I said

keeping an eye on the the times with

LeBlock and of course they've got no

Delta on their steering wheel like they

do in categories further up. They've got

no tire pressure sensors on these cars

either. It's just all doing it through

the seat of your pants spent and also

through the feel that you get through

the steering wheel

the middle sector. Okay. In fact, yeah,

as you say the the the se middle sector

time very similar to what everyone else

has been doing on the wets and as she

goes across the line. Okay. So, she's

done a 1527. So, that's a bit off. This

is the trickiest bit. Yeah. And I I was

just thinking that because when I was

looking at the view Oh, well done. She's

gone around the escape route. I wonder

if she was going to go too far in. But

that is probably the most difficult part

because it is very wet down there. It's

got the shade from the sun. It hasn't

been able to dry up. And that breaking

area, I think, is is one of the most

difficult areas. The rest of the track

is beginning to dry up a bit more.

Yes, it is. Do remember though that uh

we got top eight reversed for later on

the race later on today will be Yeah. So

she's actually in eighth. Of course,

you're not aiming to qualify eighth. You

want to be as far up as possible. You

just see she just probably drifted back

over to um the original dry line. What

it would be if it was bone dry and uh

that puddle that was is starting to

quite quickly disappear on track. She

just snagged her front left on on that.

But the race one later will be at 5

local time and that will be our reversed

grid race top eight reversed.

24 year old American Courtney Cone we're

watching now also on the slick tires as

we start to see whether anybody is going

to be putting the pace together a little

bit more on these laps. It is getting a

bit quicker now on the slicks but nobody

as yet is improving hugely. There are

some mid sectors that are going that

people are doing some personal bests and

actually 38 in that first sector that is

now looking more promising. Ah yeah and

you just spotted somebody's got a

fastest middle sector.

Yeah. So Leah Block has found a heaps of

time in that that middle sector. Nobles

has gone faster in the last sector. So

this order 100% ladies and gents is

definitely going to be changing in the

next 5 minutes or so because the track

is coming to the drivers. the

temperature of the tires, the slick

tires are coming to them as well.

Courtney Cone not yet to set any

personal best. She'll cut the beam as

she goes through sector 2 and she's

fastest of anybody. But we do have a

yellow flag in the first and second

sector.

It's funny. I was just thinking about

that. We've got 11 and a half minutes to

go and and the timing is working well.

Oh, that's good. It's gone clear. What

the worry is if somebody crashes with 5

minutes to go and then the session gets

cancelled.

Hope commentator is cursed. Yeah, I

know. Well, let's see what happens

because that is the thing. And it's good

that most cars I think now are out on

slick tires. It's going to be quite busy

out on track. Let's see what Courtney

Cron does because she's done the fastest

middle sector now. How far does she

bounce up the order? Yeah, up into third

place. So, 1484. We would expect them to

be getting down into the mid 45s, I

would think, fairly quickly.

It's still the trickiest part of the the

track. definitely looks like going into

uh into turn one where it's just under

the shade from the pit buildings there.

The sun's not quite on it, so that's

going to take the longest to dry. Alicia

Palosi down in 12th, but I don't think

she's going to be down in 12th for for

very long. I'm expecting she's going to

fire herself up to the top of the times

as uh you can just see how quickly this

final corn, this is turn 14 now, is is

drying with that sun beaming down. The

temperatures aren't rising though. Air

and track temperatures still the same.

Alicia though up to the top of the times

is she Nobles takes it for a second and

then straight up to the top. Still a

good chunk away from uh the times that

we've been seeing in the dry and free

practice and we've got a yellow flag in

the first sector. Is that someone that's

I'm guessing that's someone that's just

ran slightly wide.

I think so cuz we've got green flag

again. And just moved up to fifth now.

Haloski currently fastest. Ah now let's

have a look. It looks like it's Tina

Houseman who has run deep into turn one.

Yeah. And sensibly that was a good move.

Go to the escape road. Don't go through

the gravel. Uh yes, you don't get the

next lap. Oh, and Raphaela Ferrer. Oh my

goodness. That was lucky. Don't think

she damaged. She just touched the edge,

but I don't think she damaged it. And

Joan Shiante. Yeah, another lock up down

into turn one. Understandable. Plenty of

people doing that.

Well, there's a lot going on here, but

we've got some faster um sectors coming

up again now and we're going to be

seeing, I think, some more improvements.

Cena Oh, Houseman hits the wall. She's

kept it going, but uh yeah, let's have

another look at this.

Oh, we have a red flag.

Not the first Aston Martin that we've

seen into the into the barriers at turn

three. L Stroll, of course, yesterday.

A Nobles is off in the gravel now. That

needs a recovery. Now, the times do

stop. So, we've got 9 minutes, just over

9 minutes still to go. Um, and when they

go back out after this red flag, there

should be time, but it just depends if

anyone else goes off. At the moment, it

is all looking good for Leah Blo, she

did a very good job coming out on the

Oh, yes. Paloski's time. Has that been

Yeah, sorry. We were just looking at the

timing screen that we've got here in the

commentary box. Alicia Palmoski's had

her her lap time taken away. Um we're

being told it's been track limits at

turn three.

Ah

so she's maybe gone well too high.

Yeah.

In turn three. So she's now back down

into 14th place. It's Leah Block that

heads the timings. And that's

that was a Nobel going off.

No.

Oh,

that's frustrating for her. So that's

down at turn seven. the fast righthander

before you go into turn eight.

And there's no escape road really there,

is there? Once you're into the gravel

there, there's no choice. And that is a

great shame for Aurelia Noble. She's

she's shown a few times this year, but

every now and then when it comes to the

races, it's been a bit tricky for her. I

do feel for her and that is a tough one

because she had qualified well in Miami

and of course then missed out on a

second race in Miami. We had that

terrible rain. Um Montreal didn't go

quite so well. to get ninth in the first

race but a non-finish in the final race.

Well, let's find out. The red flag, of

course, bringing all of the cars in.

Leah Block is currently fastest from

Elma Felder, who Emma Felma, who you're

looking at right now, heading back into

the pits. Dorian Pan, the series leader,

is currently third. And Maya Ver, who

was series leader earlier on in the

season, she's fourth fastest. Ella

Lloyd, who is very competitive here at

Zambble already as we've seen this year.

And impressively, Esme Costermanman is

up there in sixth place. Sixth place,

the wild card entry. She's doing well so

far, but as you said, I think we could

see a lot more changes once this gets

going.

Exactly. And actually, uh, Ella Lloyd

had set the fastest first sector by the

4/10 of a second before that red flag

came out and uh, stopped the session.

played Chambers. She didn't really set a

lap time, I don't think, um on the slick

tire, of course. Now, they're all parked

in the shade. They've all gone back and

there's adjustment. What can I see there

of uh rear wing on the the back of of

Chloe James' car, but the the pressure

of these slick tires is going to drop.

They've stopped in the pit lane's

soaking wet, so they've stopped in a in

a wet pit lane, so the tire pressures

are going to drop. And uh Alicia has

dropped back down. Of course, lap time

being deleted. And I think we're going

to be catching a replay potentially of

uh turn three. So she as she is going

through turn two.

That's um

all four wheels were over the white

line.

Yeah. So that's a kick of over she got

on the way in. She probably did know

actually before we did that that lap

time was going to be taken away. But

she's got plenty of time left to do. 9

minutes of the session left when it will

be resumed. Masters are extremely

efficient here. So, no buzz is car I'm

sure be uh cleared pretty quickly.

Yeah. Alicia Palmoski currently fifth in

the championship, winner of the very

first race of the year on the reverse

grid that we had in China and uh she's

had some top results. Uh couple of

podiums as well. Last time, as I say,

wasn't so great. Listen to Emma.

Jack's going to be evolving at a rate of

knots. So, you just need to keep

pushing. Yeah, don't settle.

Yeah, that's her engineer telling Emma

that you've just got to go for it in the

final pass.

Yeah, get a move on.

A polite way of saying get a move on.

Look how damp it is still in the pits in

comparison to actually when you get out

on the track.

It is. But uh the fans are loving it.

Plenty of fans here early

in the morning, coming in as soon as the

gates opened and uh getting some good

vantage points and that's always a sign

that it's starting to warm up a little

bit when uh uh jackets are being removed

as well. But always a great atmosphere

here at Zambort. Always one big party.

The music is often blaring in between

sessions. Actually, I think I can even

hear it blaring now. Right, we're about

to get qualifying underway again with

just over 9 minutes to go and this is

going to be the battle for the top

positions on the grid. Remember once

again the top eight fastest in

qualifying today will be reversed for

the race this afternoon, but they will

start in their qualifying order for the

main race tomorrow. When I say main

race, they're both key races, but there

are more points for the main race on

Sunday than for the race on Saturday.

The reverse grid idea has really

entertained us throughout the course of

this season. We've seen lots of

overtaking in reverse grid races. This

is a track where overtaking is not easy,

but I think again when we get into the

reverse grid race this afternoon, it

could be very interesting seeing some

drivers making their way through.

Yeah, it's it's certainly going to be

interesting when it comes to race one

later on today. And I'm sure we'll see

plenty of overtaking, but it's time

where fortune favors

the brave. Who's going to be the

bravest? Who's going to get that tire

temperature just in the the window?

Who's going to be out there finding that

grip? And also, who's going to be able

to find the best track space? Of course,

Leah Block was first out the pit lane,

so she's got uh the best seat in the

house as it be just trying to get and

actually there we go. There's a wing

change for

No, it's hammer time.

No, it's hammer time. That's a wing

change for Ferrer because of course she

she spam backwards into turn three. So,

great job by the Campos team to get that

wing changed. She is going to be about a

lap behind everybody else there.

Yeah, I was just thinking it might be an

advantage to get out um before you're in

this group because I think some of these

quick drivers are going to get held up

because they've all gone out together.

You almost need to go out in a clear

space in conditions like this. But

you've got to, as you say, you've got to

get out in time. Um, Diane Pan's got

herself actually front of those two

cars. Hopefully, she's now got a bit of

clear space. This is an important one.

She's third fastest at the moment. She

was quickest at one stage in this

session. Leah Block currently fastest

from Fela. Dorian Pan currently third.

Maya Ver who is one of the three Dutch

drivers and with empty team, which is a

Dutch team as well. Well, it's going to

be interesting to see how MP Motorsport

get on at their home event with Maya

Bird who is desperate to get some key

points to try and challenge for the

title again against Dorian Pam. But she

is back down in third place with Khloe

Chambers in between. Chambers hasn't

done anything special yet in this

session. She's down in 11th, but again,

I think you'll see her moving up that

order.

Yeah, you certainly will. Caroski, she's

on an outlap and she's already set the

fastest middle sector and she's on an

outlap. Leah Block though is the first

to cut the sector one beam and uh she is

purple of anyone but that's quickly

taken away by Dorian Pan. We can't keep

up with our time screen. It keeps

changing. So this is going to change

quite quickly this order Dorian fastest

of anybody at the moment in that first

sector.

Let's ride on board with her is through

this uh interior section now of Xanfort.

these longer corners where you've got to

just control the throttle that little

bit more. But watch out for where the

dry area is through turn 10. Very

important exit because you're now on to

a long straight here. You are. She's got

a little bit of traffic in front of her

though. So she's knows with 6 minutes

left of the session to go,

there's plenty of time to improve. The

track is going to evolve, but she's got

this traffic. So, is she going to have

to look about potentially uh having a a

cool down lap? You don't want to let too

much temperature out of the the tires

just so she's got some free space when

the track is at its absolute best at the

very end of the session. Ella Lloyd

fastest in in the middle sector. Emma

Felder fastest of anybody in the first

sector, but we do have a yellow flag in

sector three.

Lots of changes up the top though. Look

at this. They keep trying. Dorian has

gone fastest. Oh, it's gone clear again.

So 42.116.

Ah, but Lloyd's gone even quicker into

the 41s now. And what about Maya Verge?

She does a 41, but it's a 41.9.

I think we might get in the 30s before

the end of this session. So 416 by Ella

Lloyd. That's very impressive. You're

now riding with Chloe Chambers who has

taken more polls than anybody else so

far this year. Is she now going to be

able to jump up the order? Down in 13th

place currently the one to try and beat,

but is she going to get quite up to that

level? Let's just see as she comes over.

Yes, she does. A 141.5.

Watch out for Emma Felmmy. She's just

popped up into fourth place. Palmoski is

going to be one of the final ones across

the line. A lock up from Emma Felbay.

Fastest of anybody in that middle

sector. Not a a real strong first

sector, which has let her down a little

bit. But at the moment on a charge is

Maya Berg, who really needs a strong

weekend to keep her championship hopes

alive. She had a real tough time in

Montreal, not even competing in in one

of the the races with technical issues.

So, we wait to see Leah Block exit turn

12.

Yeah, absolutely. Chambers,

she appears.

Chambers is Khloe Chambers, the the pole

sitter says many times this year, three

polls from qualifying and she is

currently fastest from Eloid. Elo just a

tenth of a second, just over a tenth of

a second slower. As you say, Maya Ver

doing a good job at the moment. Are we

going to see more improvements on this

lap then? Leah Block is likely to

improve. Yes, she does a 141.5. It's

fractionally faster. And and a lot of

this is going to be about timing, isn't

it? Getting the last lap at the right

time. Dorian Pan now retakes that top

spot. We're going to see some more

improvements. What does Lloyd do? Yeah.

411 97. So, she goes quick.

Just watch out for the Merberg. Ah,

she's had a really slow middle sector.

She was very strong in the first. Emma

Felder though is looking very strong.

And there we go in the first and middle

sector. So we'll we'll keep an eye on

her. She has a nice clean turn 13. Then

it's easy flap for for these cars

through the banked really bananked turn

14. She's got a a good carrot chase in a

way. She's got Chloe Chambers in front

of her as well who just popped to the

top and then Emma Felmire half a second

quicker than anybody else out there at

the moment. really enjoying driving in

these conditions. Clearly

the Austrian 18year-old who has really

delivered extremely well and she's done

a good job in quite a few events. She's

had a win this year. Um she's currently

ninth in the championship and she has

qualified quite well although she's been

frustrated. She's ended up on pole a

couple of times because she was eighth

fastest. But right now she has been

quick in that she's been third fastest.

But this could be could this be her

first pole position of the year? We'll

find out. Another incident being looked

into collision, but you're riding on

board with Dorian Pan, the points

leader, trying to gain a bit more time,

but also with a car in front. So, this

is this traffic that I was uh was

talking about a couple of minutes ago.

And she's caught the back of she got

past Nina Gman and uh she's now stuck

behind Courtney Crow. She's going to get

a really nice toe from behind her, but

trying to go down the inside at turn one

is going to be a little bit tricky.

She's probably going to give it a go.

She has no choice to give it a go.

She's gone fastest. That helped to get

the toe, but as you say going to that

first corner, but Lloyd is the first in

for the 30s on 139.9.

2 minutes to go. So, she's going to get

some more laps. What about Maya Verde?

What can she do on her home track for

the home team and she goes fastest

139.6.

This is fabulous. This is a really fun

qualifying session because it's so

unpredictable and it's drying out more

and more. And importantly for her, you

can see he's only 1 minute 40 39 seconds

remaining and they are doing 139. So

Curry Chambers will just possibly get

another lap. This could be Emma Falmmy's

final lap. So those slightly further

forward.

Yeah.

Again, Alicia Paloski. This is going to

this she's going on to now her final

lap. So those slightly further up were

going to get an extra lap. And uh Maya

Berg is on fire. She's done the fastest

first sector of anybody. Leo Block, she

will get one more lap after this as

well. So, that's the thing. If you if

you've left it a little bit later to go

out of pit lane or you've slowed down to

to get a gap, you're going to then risk

you run a risk of not being able to get

that extra lap. So, it's going to be

tough stuff for the likes of Palmovski.

They've really got it a job to do now

with one essentially one lap less than

everybody else. Emma Felbar though,

she's just gone 3/10 of a second quicker

than anybody in the first sector. So,

well, we'll keep an eye on that. Yeah,

let's see what Leah Block can do because

her rally driving experience of course

has been very impressive and she does go

fastest once again. Uh, but she will

only get the one more lap, but it's a

good time in a way to get the one more

lap for Leah Block, daughter of the late

great Ken Block. uh with Rally the

experience bought into her and she is

doing a great job but as you said there

are others and Feler doing that great

first sector wasn't so brilliant in the

second sector let's just see what Maya

Berg does here yeah she goes quicker

1389 and the time is ticking away the

checker flag is about to come out on

these Can they get over the line before

it

it's going to be close I don't think

they're going to get over the line so

that's going to be it for Alma Len and

Chloe Chong I think she just got through

and Chloe Chambers. So she is that is

it. But let's have a look where Emma

Felbire is. Is it enough to jump to the

top of the times? No. So no improvement.

So something happened in sector two in

sector three. So this is Alicia. Where

is she going to jump up to?

She goes fastest. Oh, great lap by

Alicia Palmoski. She now has to sit and

wait to see what everybody else is doing

on this lap. What are we looking at?

Sector times. Anybody else looking

impressive?

Yes, Maya Ver. However, from the on

board that we saw from her, there was

traffic in front of her. Let's have a

look how Leah blocks getting on. But

however, Dorian Pan, she caught up that

traffic. She's down in 11th place. Have

a look at the first sector and she's

4/10 of a second off the fastest first

sector of Maya. So, it's not going to be

unless she has an absolute mighty uh

middle and last sector. It's not going

to be whole position for for Dorian Pan.

Let's have a look though as we watch

Leah Block come across the line. Is it

enough to go up to for pole position?

Let's see. No, it's not. She stays

fourth. But Maya Ver, as you say, is on

target at the moment to take pole

position. And that would be a great

turn. And Dorian Pan, the series leader,

way down, being pushed down by others.

She's down in 12. Let's see where she

comes from. Houseman goes up to fifth.

Lloyd up to second. Alan Lloyd, who had

lots of second places last time out in

Montreal. That's another great effort.

But Maya, yes, she has done it by 039 of

a second. Maya Ver has taken pole

position and I think that's it. No one

else is going to improve. Well done to

the Dutch racer Maya Ver, the

21-year-old from the Netherlands with

the team that is based in Holland as

well. That is a major moment

particularly when she had such a tough

time with a technical problem at the

last race in Canada and especially with

Dorian Pan. Now Dorian obviously having

that a slightly demanding time and uh

but she still managed to get back to

fifth. So with the reverse grid of

course she Dorian Panaman will be ahead

of Mayerberg but when it comes to the

main race tomorrow that is a chance for

Maya Bberg to really maybe gain some

points back and what about Kloe

Chambers? She's in fourth. She's the

other major championship contender. She

and Dorian Pan will be very close

together on the grid. They certainly

will. And it's going to be reverse grid

pole.

That's going to be bullying. Come on.

Let's go.

Oh, that was good.

That's going to be reverse grid pole for

Nina Gman.

Yeah, that's a bit like the very first

race of the year actually in China. She

had the reverse grid pole and she led

nearly all the race and then had a

problem with the car.

She did. So, should be hoping for a

little bit more luck. But a good job as

well by Ella Lloyd who will start in in

third place. But Maya Berg, she says,

"Don't write me off from the

championship just yet." She is 37 points

behind Dorian Pan. And uh that is one

way to set off a good weekend with her

near her championship rival of Dorian

Pan down in fifth place. Khloe Chambers

in fourth.

Well, that was a fantastic qualifying

session um with the changing conditions

and everybody having to really go for it

at the end. And it is Maya Berg who has

taken her second pole position of the

season by setting the outright pace.

That will see her on pole tomorrow down

in eighth for the reverse grid today.

Alicia Palmoski in second, Ella Lloyd in

third. Two British drivers going very

well. Khloe Chambers, championship

contender in fourth place and the series

leader Dorian Pan fifth ahead of Leo

Block. Tina Houseman seventh, Nina

Gateman eighth. So she'll start from

pole this afternoon. Enmy Costerman

doing a really good job ahead of Emma

Felder. Then Raphaela Ferrer, Khloe

Chong, Courtney Cone, and the last long

way down ahead of Nicole Havda, Joan

Fic, Aelia Nobles, and over

Anagnostiardis.

So that is the lineup uh for the main

race tomorrow of course but as I

mentioned the reverse grid will see Nina

Gman on pole position with Tina Houseman

on the front row with her as we go into

the first race later on this afternoon.
