Saturday in Miami saw the F1 Academy top

eight reverse grid race with Emma

Felmmyer on pole position, but it was

fifth place Deloid who made contact

going into the first turn and ended her

race. Others had troubles while Felba

was working hard to stay up front.

Series leader Maya Ver was also moving

up the order, but at the main rival

Dorian Pan had a really good time and

would go on to take the win. Contact

between Khloe Kong and Joan Chic towards

the end, but it was celebration time for

Dorian Pan taking her second win of the

season. Hello and welcome to our

coverage of F1 Academy as we prepare for

the second race in Miami. And the rain

has just started falling to make life a

little more tricky. I'm Ben Edwards,

looking forward to commentating on

another 13 lap race around the Miami

International Auto Drrome in Miami

Gardens. The 3.4 mile, 5.4 km street

style circuit with a couple of long

flatout sections that lead into

overtaking, particularly into turns 11

and 17. But it's also easy to clip

curves too hard in the latter part of

sector 2 with the narrow twisty corners

leading onto the main straight.

challenging layout that was mastered

superbly last year in F1 Academy by the

now reigning champion Abby Pulling. And

Abby is with us this weekend. Abby, the

grid today is in full qualifying order.

And of course, in qualifying, we had a

similar situation where it was dry

initially and got wet and now as they've

been sitting on the grid, it was dry,

but now it's wet. Yeah, I have to say

I'm really happy to be sat in my warm uh

drycoms box at the moment looking out on

the drivers on the grid. Uh yeah, it's

tricky conditions to start this race. Of

course, they had a taste for it in

qualifying, but going to the grid on

slick tires, having to change it to the

wets as the rains come down, not an easy

way for them to start the race here.

Dorian Pan, you're looking at the winner

yesterday. So, she's starting third.

There is the championship leader who's

ahead of her by just one point. Maya

Ver, but she started down in 10th

because she didn't get a a clear lap uh

on the dry surface that we had at the

start of qualifying. So, that made it

very very tricky. So that was a

challenge as we listen in to our top

three. So the starting grid, it is like

this. Ava Dobson starting at the back in

18th place. Khloe Chong with a penalty.

She starts in 17th. They both actually

had penalties from yesterday. Ava

Anagnosti starting in 16th. Joan Siconte

who had that non finish with contact. So

she's starting down near the back from

qualifying. Nicole Hava starting 14th.

Nina Gateman starting in 13th. She did a

great job from 13th to finish fifth.

Alberta Lson starting in 12th place and

Courtney Cone starting in seventh place.

She finished ninth in race one. There's

Maya Ver. So she managed to get up to

fourth from 10th yesterday. Tina

Houseman is starting alongside at ninth

on the grid. Emma Felber who was on pole

yesterday with the reverse grid. She now

starts eighth. Ella Lloyd who had that

accident. She starts seventh. But keep

an eye on her. She's very rapid.

Raphaela Ferrer starting in sixth place.

Aelia Nobel's having a much better

weekend so far. She's starting in fifth.

Leah Block also who's been at the back

of the grid for previous races until we

come to Miami. She starts fourth. Dorian

Pan in third looking for a second win

this weekend. Alicia Palmovski starts

second, but it's Khloe Chambers who

starts from pole position here today

after putting in the fastest lap in

qualifying. The American herself. So, a

home surface in a way for her, the

20-year-old Chloe Chambers. And Abby,

we've got the Campos team having a one

two on the grid for their first time.

Red Bull backing of course for the two

Campos drivers, Kloe Chambers and Alicia

Palmoski on that front row. They're in

the best position possible, especially

since it will be behind the four

formation uh car behind the safety car

for the formation lap. It's uh going to

mean that they can really really control

the race from there, but they'll be the

first ones going through. So, they'll

see the standing water for the first

time. It's actually quite a big

vulnerability and and it could be a lot

of pressure because you don't know

what's coming. If you see cars um flying

off in front of you, you know that

there's uh you got to be a bit more

careful. Whereas they're going in for

the first time. Yeah, it can be so

tricky. At least they're going to get a

little bit of uh experience behind the

safety car to try and understand what's

going on. Um that we noticed that there

is uh also a starting procedure

infringement for Eloid. That's a bit of

a disappointment. uh we will see the

safety car taking them away then for

this initial formation lap and uh for

Ella Lloyd I don't quite know what has

happened with the starting procedure

infringement but whether she's going to

get a penalty again that would be a

great shame because she's having a bit

of a tough time this weekend despite

having great performance and having had

a win already this year. Yeah, really

really not a great way to start this

race of wanting a bit of redemption

after yesterday being out on the first

corner, but it sounds like it could

potentially be a pit lane start for her

with this infringement to to kind of go

to the Clark say, "Look, we uh we did

what we could, but but we will have to

see." Okay. Well, we shall check that

out in a moment or two. But Ella Lloyd,

who is starting from seventh place on

the grid, having picked up a bit of a

penalty. Of course, our top three

drivers on the grid. That's what we want

to hear from them now as we prepare for

this second race. We're going to hear

from all the top three, beginning with

yesterday's winner, Dorian Pan.

Obviously, the goal is is to win again

and to take a good start. Uh we have the

pace. Uh we we knew it because our FP

was positive for us. So uh I think we we

have the pace to win. So uh we're gonna

fight for it and uh and try to get back

the position.

Great result for the team being one two.

It'd be great if we can also finish one

two. That would obviously be the aim. Um

I think it's going to be challenging.

Again, another question mark with the

weather. We don't know if it's going to

be dry tomorrow. I know there is some

rain forecast again when that's going to

come. I don't trust the radar anymore

because it didn't get it right today.

So, we'll see. But hopefully, we can

deliver some good championship points.

For me, obviously, the goal is to win. I

would love to get my first win of the

season at my home race in Miami. I love

this track. Had some really good results

here last year. So, kind of trying to do

one better and get my first win of the

season. Well, let's see whether Khloe

Chambers can get the win. But as Alicia

Paloski was saying, the weather a bit

unpredictable and Abby, it's gone even

wetter again, hasn't it? Yeah, the rain

is really coming down now actually in

this last sector. It's the worst I think

it is around the whole circuit and uh as

we get the radio off.

So there is a very large cell below us

approaching the circuit. So more rain is

expected. Mega.

Yeah. Well, it is mega rain right now.

Um, but we shall see whether they're

going to be released or whether they're

going to have to follow the safety car

for a little bit longer. Dorian Pan took

her fifth ever win in F1 Academy

yesterday and the first driver to take

two wins this year. So, five in total

that is from last year and this year.

Not quite up to your level yet. Abby,

you're on nine wins total in F1 Academy,

but Dorian Pan who is Oh, and oh dear.

Oh dear. We've got a a spin already for

MFB and um I don't know whether it looks

as though the car is okay. Doesn't look

as though she's made contact with the

wall. That's not ideal. Just showing how

tough these conditions are. The rain has

really come down and we saw this

actually yesterday in in the Formula 1

sprint race. So with with Charlie Clair

on the formation lap having having a

little instant. So very easily done here

with the unpredictable uh conditions

going in a bit blind wanting to to make

the best of the situation. But uh yeah,

that's that'll be tough for Emma.

Okay. Well, we shall check that. And uh

Susie Wolf is also on the phone right

now just to keep a check on what the

plan is. No doubt for uh the plans

starting this race. Let's listen in.

I can't see the car ahead. That's how

bad the visibility is.

Yeah. And that is a worry of course when

you've got this much rain and so much

water. And there there we've got the on

board view, Abby. And I mean it is it's

very tricky out there at the moment,

isn't it? We saw actually going down to

the last last corner the spray. We

couldn't even see any of the cars. It is

really tough at the moment. And I mean

as a driver at this point in time,

you've got to expect it could start any

moment. No, even though now we're seeing

the the American Express car of Nicole

Hava going off at turn seven, but you've

got to be getting as much temperature

into the tires as possible if they do

start this race, which I think we're

going to be maybe potentially a bit more

delayed. Uh you want to get the

temperature in into the brakes into the

core of that tire so that you're as best

prepared going onto the first lap making

sure you got the most grip out of all

the drivers out on track. Yeah,

absolutely right. It is a very tricky

situation but this rain coming in and

out in Miami Gardens here. It it may

well ease off for a little while. Let's

take a look at some of the replays of

what has been going on even behind

safety car. It's so easy to make a

mistake when the conditions are like

this new cuz you can see the vision for

us is hard enough and that was when Emma

Felby went wrong and uh yeah, she's not

the only one. Oh my goodness, Ella Lloyd

there as well. Synchronized uh

synchronized donuts there in the last

corner. Um I think it just looks like

there was a bit unsighted going into the

breaking zone. maybe didn't know where

they were and also we're breaking on the

dry line which after uh at the end of

the weekend here we've got uh a lot of

rubber put down from the Formula 1 cars

and uh it's the the worst place you want

to be. You want to be off that rubber

line. It's going to be really slippy as

we see Nicole Hava uh demonstrate

perfectly uh how how you can go go wrong

and and get unstuck. Yeah, it's just

showing how easy it is even though they

are on the wet tires in these F1 Academy

cars right now. It is proving to be very

very tricky. They're all uh I wonder why

they're all quite so close to the back

of the safety car. I I think they'd be

better off with a boat and an ore at

this point to be honest, Ben. It's it's

not looking like uh we're going to get

started anytime soon with with these

conditions. It's just getting worse and

worse and sat here uh at the comm's box

at the start of the the pit straight.

It's still coming down really really

heavy and the spray as they're coming

past is uh quite significant and and

just look at that. This is a great view

actually because you look at the amount

of water that is being thrown up by the

safety car by the single seaters as

well. It's it is a huge amount of water

being chucked up at this stage. So it

just shows you how heavy the rain has

been because this only started about

less than half an hour ago, didn't it?

So I mean it was dry and and then

suddenly it's come down as they were

sitting on the grid then. And from the

overhead shot you can see it's like

wading through the water. They're just

displacing it. these wets there's a

point where it can can only take so much

water and that's where we get the

aquiplaning that that we we've seen

again like we saw in the sprint race

lots of aquiplaning on the formation lap

and yeah I'm I'm going to say I think

probably the the drivers will be be

feeling that a bit and pushing at full

pelt here um there will be they'll be

aquiplaning off and and it'll be

discomfortable at no fault of their own

they become a passenger at that point as

yeah we see going into turn four it just

looks like a bit of a lake is forming

absolutely I mean I think if this was

the Grand Prix which of course is coming

up later on today. Um there would be the

same pause. I I don't think they would

be letting them race yet, would they?

No. No, exactly. They wouldn't. This

this is really tough conditions and um

as as a driver, I would probably be

saying as as the the girls were on the

radio saying it's a bit too bit too

sketchy right now to to be going. I

mean, if I was if I was my VU, I'd have

been rubbing my hands running in ear to

ear on on the grid, knowing that uh it's

going to be tricky conditions and it's a

perfect opportunity to move forward, but

at this point, she's not even uh going

to be able to to start the race at at

this point in time. Absolutely. I mean,

as you say, Moberg, she's she's the

championship leader by one point. She's

10th on the grid because it just

qualifying because it rained very early

in qualifying. She wasn't on a clear lap

when they first went out. She was a bit

further down the order. She couldn't get

a a clear lap in to represent just how

fast she can be. So, she is down in 10th

place. And if you're that far sort of

midfield in the grid when you've got

this much water about, it's really just

survival. It's trying to see where

you're going. It's it's just trying to

get through these sections when you

can't quite make out where you are

exactly almost. Um and that would be, as

you say, a very difficult one for her.

She's in that group all safe at the

moment, I think. Let's just see who else

has who else has been off the road.

Just trying to keep an eye. Oh. Oh, it

was Oh, gosh. It was Felmmyer again,

wasn't it? Yeah. And this this is turn

18 actually. So, this is a corner that

is flat out in the dry. It's it should

be perfectly easy, but on the apex it's

a tiny bit cambered and there's standing

water and I it is literally directly in

front of me. So, I'm amazed that I

missed that one. But, um it it it seems

like they're just acquipaning even going

at 10% of their racing speed. So, it

it's no fault of the drivers. It is just

the conditions out there are are

impossible at this point in time. They

are very very tricky as you say. Let's

listen into Palosky's radio.

Yeah, our complaining is getting worse

and worse. I'm all up for a wet race and

I really like raining racing in the

rain, but I think there's too much here.

Yeah, I can understand that from Alicia

Palmoski. She is she's a very competent

racer. She's done very well in the GB4

series last year. Uh won the opener at

Alton Park. She had three wins in total,

won Alton, a couple at Snetson as well

last year, and she was runner up in the

championship. And so, yeah, she's

obviously happy racing in the in the

wet, but this is this is another story,

isn't it? Completely. Yeah, really

mature radio message there from from

Alicia. She she's a British driver, of

course. We we experience the wet

conditions quite a lot in the UK, but

yeah, I mean, she's the driver. She's

out on track. She knows what she's

seeing and feeling. And if she's saying

it's uh a little bit too much,

especially with the confidence she has

in the wet, uh that that's going to be

uh yeah, quite telling.

It's just um there's been a text from or

just let's have a look at what Ferrer

has been talking about. Bigger showers

coming. They're being told, "Oh my

goodness." So that's going to make it

very tricky. Abby, how many wet races

have you competed in in Formula Academy?

I don't actually think I've done any wet

races in in F1 Academy. I think uh this

would probably be one one of the first

especially the first on the the Formula

1 package following following uh F1 on

on their Grand Prix and uh it's it means

that some of these girls maybe haven't

experienced wet racing before and they

it's their first time in these

conditions especially wheelto-wheel with

each other and it is quite

nerve-wracking going into uh turn one or

into a heavy breaking point not being

able to see it and it's unscited with

with all the spray you almost are going

in blind and it as we go on board with

uh my route. We can't even see the car

ahead. And these car even nervous

actually on the straight there

aquiplaning following the the lines of

of the other cars where where the

they're displacing the water. These cars

they have rain lights on the back are

still wobbling on the straight there.

But you can't see it. The rain light is

isn't visible to to Maya. So it

is it's really not the the ideal

situation. No. I mean, if they they're

going quite steady at this time behind

the safety car. if they were going up to

full speed and heading down at the end

of straights and trying to get the

braking right and it would just be a

really dangerous situation right now.

So, so at the moment we are still behind

the safety car and uh yeah raining much

more

now getting that uh comment as well.

You're on board with Mayaver with the

Ferrar Ferrari backing for her

championship this year. leading the

points by just that one point, missing

out a bit yesterday. It's her first time

yesterday, wasn't it, that she hasn't

had a podium. But nonetheless, to get to

fourth, having started 10th, it was a

good effort. Exactly. I've been speaking

to Maya throughout the weekend,

actually, behind the scenes. And it's

just about damage limitation. What makes

champions is is making the most out of a

bad situation. As I'm actually stood

here in the commentary box, Ben, and I'm

not going to lie, this is the heaviest

the rain has been um all all the time.

You can see the wind blowing the water

over the the start finish here. But what

I can see and it is um I almost would

expect these cars to come to a stop

pretty soon as it is um not looking like

this will get any better anytime soon.

Yeah, that's right. It must be actually

pretty challenging just to keep on going

around behind the safety car. This

rather slow pace in this very very heavy

rain. And as you can see the amount of

water now running around the track and

the the lack of vision that they have as

they're following other cars, it really

is very difficult. I' we've had a few

spin-off even at these fairly slow

speeds. Thankfully, no cars actually

damaged yet. Yeah, you can't go racing

in in this. It's um it I'm amazed

they've not stopped to be honest. I

think they they have maybe let it go a

lap too long. It's it's now getting to

the point where we're getting a bit

silly here. Well, it does it it makes

you wonder. You can see just how much

water is sitting down on this track

surface. And I bet you that all the F1

teams will actually be looking at this.

Um, I mean, obviously F1 teams support

drivers in this. All of the Formula 1

teams have a driver backed up in Formula

1 Academy. But bear in mind that the F1

teams will be looking at this thinking,

my goodness, how's the Grand Prix going

to go for us a bit later on today. Um,

when they're watching this and they they

will be watching all the footage, I'm

sure, just to try and understand where

the wetest parts are, that sort of

thing. Yeah, this Florida weather is not

giving up. It is really really um

hammering it down now and it's it's

getting really um um um bad. But uh

yeah, maybe maybe we will uh see if if

they uh decide.

It's still going to get heavier than

this on the run at left. Okay. Well,

they're saying it's still going to get

heavier. So, well, at the moment,

they're just running these formation

laps. They're just behind the safety

car. I mean, it's it's steady enough.

It's slow enough that they're not

getting into trouble. They are coping

with it fine. Look at the pictures.

Amazing pictures of this rain falling

down and the teams trying to huddle in

trying to keep undercover. I mean, you

know, it it's tricky. It is tricky, but

they are all they're all staying out

there. That's fine. Um, but the question

is, can they possibly get this race

going with the rain coming down even

heavier at the moment? And they are

burning up some fuel, not a lot, but of

course um you know Abby, when you go out

that the teams work very hard on making

sure the right amount of fuel will be in

the car for the race itself. It was due

to be a 13 lap race. You use less fuel

in the wet obviously than you do in the

dry, but they're still using some now.

Yeah, they would have accounted for it

being a dry race, although you would be

amazed looking at the pictures now that

that's what they they thought it was

going to be. Um yeah, and and like you

said, they use less fuel. So, for the

teams, they'll be hoping that that it

will all it'll all be fine. I I think um

I'll be amazed if we get anyone running

out of fuel or anything like that at the

speed that we're we're going at,

but as we hear from Chloe Chong,

getting a

nice cold lunch. It's like going to the

beach except you're in a car.

It's a bit like you were saying earlier.

Yes. Um it's more like going sailing

really, isn't it? But um we shall see if

they manage to actually get out there

and go racing uh in this very very

tricky conditions. And just look at the

amount of water around this surface in

Miami. And of all places, you know,

Miami uh beautiful part of the world,

but it is the time of year, right?

Starting procedure is suspended. Uh that

is not a huge surprise. Red flags now,

so they will be presumably brought back

to either the grid or the pit lane. Um

because it does make sense to just bring

them to a hold for the moment, doesn't

it? Yeah, they look practically

underwater going uh down that uh back

straight there. But I I know for for a

fact speaking to Leah that she's going

to be be disappointed with that. Leah

obviously a pass in in rally driving.

She she was really keen and she

absolutely loves the rain as she's told

me. So, um, yeah, a bit of probably a

few disappointed drivers out there

wanting to to to get going, but, um,

yeah, as they're making their way now

into the pit lane. Yeah, absolutely. As

you say, Leah Block, daughter of the

great late Ken Block, who was a great

rally driver as well, and she started

off with rallying in her career. Um, so

she would in some ways love the ability

to go racing in the wet, but I think any

of them uh would be thinking this is

just crazy out here at the moment. So,

they have brought them all back in to

the pit lane, taking it nice and steady.

At least the cars are all in one piece

at this stage. And uh there were a few

spins, but I don't think anybody

actually did any damage to the cars when

they were behind the safety car. So,

it's going to be a little bit of a pause

here.

It's crazy. I am like soaked in this

car.

Yeah. I'm not sure. Well, I'm not

surprised that Courtney Cone, the

24-year-old American, uh, one of the

four Americans competing in the F1

Academy this weekend because we got the

fourth, the wild card, Aya Dobson, who's

starting from the back of the grid. But

at least they've got some umbrellas now

so that they can hopefully try and stay

a little dry because it's always worse

actually when you when you're

stationary, isn't it, when it's raining

and you're sitting in the single seater.

Yeah. You're sat in in all the water and

it gets cold and you start shivering.

It's not a nice feeling, but uh yeah,

getting them umbrellas to the drivers as

as quickly as possible, trying to get

them as as comfortable as possible as we

see the teams trenching their way down

the the the pit lane there. Yeah. So,

this really is a tricky tricky time for

F1 Academy wanting to get their second

race underway. We've just been given an

estimated race start of uh a time that

is just about 9 minutes away from where

we are now. 9 to 10 minutes gap. So,

that I mean it makes sense. They've

basically put up a 10-minute gap uh just

under that to consider it again and then

they can always put it on a bit further

if the rain continues to drop quite so

heavily. But I think that really was a

very heavy section of rain just then.

They had to had to bring the cars back

in May starting from 10th place uh with

MP Motorsport of course. Each of these

major teams there are six teams running

three drivers each. MP Motorsport having

a good one. Let's see. Listen to Gman.

I'm so cold right now. I'm stoked and

I'm so cold. Yeah, I can quite

understand that for Nina Gademan. Um I

think they're all going to be feeling

very cold and very wet in those cars,

aren't they? Yeah, exactly what what I

was mentioning when you're just sat

stationary in in basically a as Chloe

said, a cold plunge. Um, but I think uh

the thing to remember with this now as

it's been been red flagged is the

drivers that had their little excursions

on the on the formation lap that uh kept

going for for quite some time. They can

probably find their position again uh on

the once we we get going which will be

important for them. Ella and Emma Felber

will be um very happy about that. Yeah,

that's true. That is true. A bit of uh

tire pressure checks going on at the

moment as we said. Uh there we are

looking at a local time 131 which means

in theory in about 7 or 8 minutes but um

we shall wait and see if that stays that

they may just keep pushing it a little

further forward. Looking at the number

27 car Khloe Chong there as uh we were

hearing from Khloe she had bit of a

mishap yesterday. Uh there was a she was

in the middle of three cars that

actually there was contact made. She

actually got the penalty. So she lost a

couple of places on the grid for this

race. But this race not getting underway

just yet. The other Chloe, Khloe

Chambers, there she is. She's the one

starting in theory from pole position.

Still looking for that first win this

year despite uh having had a bunch of

podium finishes. She's had her fourth

podium with that result she got

yesterday for this year, but no wins

this year. but she did have a win last

year in Spain. So, she's totally capable

just when you're chasing in a

championship. And remember, you only are

allowed to do two full years in F1

Academy. If you're a wild card entry,

then uh you might do that another year,

but two full years.

It's still raining quite a bit, but a

rain should stop in a few minutes and

then no more rain is expected.

Well, that's good to hear. and uh Dorian

Plant being told that she is due to

start from third place in a Mercedes

backed car with the PMA team. And so

it's the PMA team that are telling her

what's going on. And already it does

look as though that rain is just

beginning to ease off a little bit

compared to where it was a few minutes

ago. Abby, it's definitely slowing down,

but it's still it is still coming down

as we can see on the the live pictures

there. It's um not not stopping uh at

the moment, but hopefully through

through the radio message that we we

heard there from from the teams, they

they seem to think it's slowing down.

But um actually this this race makes me

reminisce a little bit around about

Zanvort last year. Uh we had a similar

situation where all the drivers were

were going up to the grid and then all

of a sudden monsoon conditions come out

of nowhere and uh obviously that that

race then got postponed to to the next

day. Let's hope that this doesn't fall

to the same fate and and we can get

going soon. Well, that's a very good

point. And of course, in America, we're

in America. Um, for a lot of the oval

racing that goes on, they do get

promoted. Even things like the Indie 500

can sometimes race on a Monday when it's

raining on a Sunday, but I don't think

that's going to happen here. I don't

think they're going to get a chance to

race on Monday in Miami. So, let's just

hope that the rain does ease off. But,

as you say, looking at these pictures,

it's not easing off very much yet. It's

still raining hard and you can see the

depth of the puddles particularly just

off the road, off the track there. Um,

and that is it's a little bit dangerous

to have that situation. So, surely it's

going to be a few more minutes before we

can possibly get this this race going.

Abby, as we're on the actual uh the the

behind camera footage of uh Khloe

Chambers, she's deciding to make a

change to that rear wing. It looks like

probably putting on a higher downforce

setting. So, if we do get back underway,

she's got a bit more grip, a bit more

confidence underneath her, especially in

them braking zones where it's it's all

rubbered in. They've got no confidence

around the the Miami circuit with with

uh uh the grip levels. That's a very

good point. And that that does make a

difference. There's no no doubt about

that. Absolutely. Well, um Alba Lson,

number 12, she is starting down in 12th

place. She's had a good start to the

season. has been a bit more tricky here

in Miami. She was speaking earlier to

our crew. Let's have have a listen to

her.

I'm from Denmark, so you know, it rains

lot. Uh I wouldn't mind if it rains, but

at the same time on a street circuit, it

wouldn't be so nice. Uh yeah, we'll see.

Yes. Well, uh that was Alars and she

telling us that she's quite used to to

wet conditions uh competing in Denmark

as she has done. She's uh one of two

16year-olds in this series. So, she is

very much one of the youngest, but she's

been putting in some impressive

performances so far this season. It's

just that this one hasn't worked quite

so well. She finished 11th yesterday.

That is her lowest finish so far this

season. She's been in the points on four

occasions. Um and she's fifth in the

championship which is very very

impressive Albert Lson but clearly

there's no testing here at Miami. So

Abby at the previous two events that

we've had in China and at Jedha they

they got a a lot of testing to learn the

circuits first. But here of course at

Miami it's just coming along for free

practice to learn it. Of course Shanghai

and Jedha there was three days that the

girls had to to get to grips with the

track. So they arrive at the race

weekend feeling prepared, feeling ready

and know exactly where they need to put

the car. Whereas this was quite a unique

weekend where they actually did have an

extra free practice which was nice. They

had an FP1 and FP2 both 40 minutes long.

But they they didn't have uh the the

time to to come here and test. And I

don't think it's even the tracks

available to test as it is a a street

circuit. So, um, yeah, with with that,

they've got to turn up and be as best

prepared, do the do the preparations

with the race team on the simulator, do

as many notes as possible. So, they they

feel like they've turned up and they've

already already driven the track and

already turned a wheel, although they

they wouldn't have as we see shots of

the fans obviously loving it here in in

Miami. The the weather obviously um not

not the greatest for them, but still

sticking sticking it in in the Grand

Center with all their their ponchos on.

Oh, we've just seen race will not start.

Oh my goodness, that is so disappointing

to hear. But because of the weather

conditions and bear in mind there are

other races that are due to be run here

today and of course particularly the

Grand Prix has to be on time, but that

news has just come out to us. Abby, I

will say May this really helps her out.

Dorian was in a really great place as

well as Khloe Chambers to to move up in

the championship. And for Maya, this is

probably one of the the better

situations she can have. She can

maintain that championship lead of the

one point she has ahead of Dorian. Susie

Wolf, the boss of F1 Academy, a great

racer herself, of course. But I think

she's obviously totally understanding

what decision has been made here. And I

we do understand it because the

conditions are are just too wet for them

to be going out racing for a while. And

yet the schedule of the day continues

and there will be other racing going on

and it has to run on time for the Grand

Prix coming up later. It does mean that

today's events all the way through could

be fascinating. It is a shame. I do feel

for all of the F1 Academy drivers not

getting this second run, but as you say

in terms of the championship for Maya

Ver, um it is maybe a sense of relief

that she's going to be able to come away

not starting this one in 10th place. So,

uh, well, Abby, uh, it is a strange one,

isn't it? But that that's the way it

goes sometimes, and they're all just

going to have to cope with it. Yeah. I'm

just hoping that all the drivers after

they've been sat uh wet in in their cars

and and uh with all the rain that's come

down, they can uh dry up and and go go

get in front of a heater hopefully.

Absolutely. Yes. Go and try and dry out

a little bit and uh get yourselves

sorted out. But yeah, it is really been

a bit of a shame, bit of a a challenge

for them. Uh the next event that they

will be competing at is actually going

to be in Montreal. So uh they'll be

doing supporting the Canadian Grand Prix

in a few weeks uh time and uh that is

actually later in June, mid midJune when

they're going to be racing in Montreal.

And that one of course will be another

it's another street very slightly

different type of nature to this one,

but that's when they will be focusing. I

have to say that this image that we have

at Miami, we often see it on camera, uh,

is a bit of a joke. It's a it's a it's

not a real car in water, but actually

that is very much what it's all about

today, isn't it? Yeah, it's um very uh

very poetic. That is this shot of the

the car um on on top of the the fountain

as we uh see see the podium where the

drivers potentially could have been. Um

but unfortunately, as we see that the

race won't won't start again. No, it

won't. So uh it won't uh change how

things have settled in terms of the

championship therefore going into the

next round. So Maya Ver will still be

the leader from Dorian Pan who you're

looking at right now having conversation

with her team. She is one point behind.

So Maya Ver on 64 points. Dorian Pant on

63. That is how they're going to end

this event in Miami. Khloe Chambers is

third in the series. And um yeah, well I

have to do feel for Leah Block here

because Leah Block finally got her best

a really good qualifying position Abby.

She was down at the back for the first

two events and now she hasn't got this

chance to make the most of it. No. And I

I know how much she loves the rain

there. We see Janja also really

frustrated. They they all seem a little

bit ejected and and they they seem like

they really really wanted to race, but

it just wasn't safe enough at that time.

And and of course we've got a schedule

to run to. So, um it will mean that that

uh they'll they'll have to go back to

and and yeah, really really there's

nothing they could do about it is it is

what it is at the end of the day. The

the rain here was just too much. Yeah,

too wet unfortunately. Um so, just

quickly going through the rest of the

positions at the moment. Alicia Paloski

who was uh due to start on the front

row, she is currently fourth in the

championship. Alberta Len who had a bit

more of a tough time as we mentioned

here this weekend in terms of

qualifying. She's fifth. Ella Lloyd

sixth and Ella it's been a bit of a

tough weekend as well. She probably

won't mind too much actually that that

it's this second race has ended a bit

early effectively without happening.

There is Mayerberg then she's helping

the team just get the car back. She is

still leading this championship but Abby

we it still looks like we're going to

have a wonderful battle with her with

Dorian Pan with Khloe Chambers and maybe

one or two others as well going through

the rest of this season. It is really

tight at the top of the sheets as well.

And it's actually also really excited

about the rookie battle as we see Alba,

one of the drivers I'm about to mention.

She's P5 in the championship on on 28

points and and Alicia Pamowski ahead of

her with 44. So that rookie battle as

well is really interesting to see. And

now be uh wanting to to go forward to to

Montreal, which also Montreal could

potentially be wet. It loves to rain

there. So, um, but yeah, it's it's

really close up and down the whole

series. Definitely. So, uh,

unfortunately, we will not be seeing a

second race here in Miami, but uh, thank
