The first F1 Academy race of the season

saw Nina Gamman on pole as she made a

great start to lead. Khloe Chambers in

the red bull back car made a good

getaway but incidents were coming along

and we saw Shiwi spinoff very early on

there were several contacts Nobles was

one of three non-finishes and Khloe

Chong made contact and Ever Felbeamire

who also had a bit of a tough time there

were a couple of contacts on her car but

Alicia Palmoski survived it all to take

the win just ahead of teammate Khloe

Chambers the second race of the opening

F1 academy event in China is about to

get underway. Welcome to our coverage as

some very talented and ambitious young

female racing drivers attempt to deliver

strong results in front of a huge crowd

at the Shanghai International Circuit.

My name is Ben Edwards. Alongside me is

racer and F1 Academy expert Alice Pal.

And we're looking forward to another

13lap contest around this 16 turn track.

long back straight where slip streams

can help potential overtakes and corners

where late braking offers opportunities

but can also cause issues if the timing

of hitting the brakes goes wrong as we

did see Alice a few times in race one.

We did. Good morning. Hello everybody

wherever you are in the world. And the

first action today on track has already

happened as some of you eagle-eyed may

have already seen on the pictures.

There's quite a bit of dust out on the

circuit. The formation lap will start

behind the safety car. There is some oil

around and we've seen the marshals on

our pictures before we came on air

really trying to to clear up that oil.

Kimmy Antonelli is down there supporting

uh his uh his team Premma Racing of

course, but Dorian Pan who is also

Mercedes junior driver. So great to see

him on the grid. And Dorian starting P2

with her rival Maya Verg. She'll be

looking forward to try making amends

from a race yesterday. It was slightly

difficult for for Dorian. And I'm sure

she would have been really frustrated

with the the outcome. Couldn't quite

move forward as as well as she would

have liked. Yeah. So that's Dorian Pan

starting in second place. Can she get

back on the podium? She just missed out

with that fourth place finish yesterday.

So let's take a look at it all. And this

is the starting grid. Leav starting at

the back. And she the Chinese girl doing

this one-off race as the wild card

entry. Then on the next row, it's

Raphaela Ferrer who did a brilliant job

in the race yesterday to finish in fifth

from a long way back. Ava and Agnostia

also did well. She got into eighth

place. Courtney Cone and Aurelia Nobles,

they had a bit of a challenging time.

And also Nicole Harreda, she had a tough

time. Ella Lloyd getting some penalties,

but some problems, but she's got up to

sixth place in the end. Actually, she

did a great job. Tina Houseman starting

from ninth place, just ahead of Khloe

Chong. And then as we get into the top

eight, it's Nina Gateman who was leading

the race for so long. She'll start

eighth. Emma Felber alongside having had

a few contacts in the race. Joanne

Shikante, she starts sixth. Alicia

Paloski, who won that first race, she

starts in fifth position. Khloe

Chambers, who was very strong, finishing

a strong second. She starts fourth.

Alberta Lson, 16-year-old starting from

third position. And then on that front

row, Dorian Pan and Maya Ver. They are

two experienced F1 Academy racers and

they will be racing hard to try and take

the victory here. But let's see how it

all works out, Alice, because we've seen

some good talent already. Albert Lson,

one of those in uh potentially because

okay, it didn't all quite work out. Did

get a 10-second penalty like several

drivers. Ended up finishing in seventh

place, hitting Felier, but still pretty

impressive what she's done so far. Oh,

no. It there's been a great showing from

some of these young drivers on the grid.

We've got some more experienced drivers,

of course. Chloe Chambers, who raced in

F1 Academy last year, took one win, that

was back in Barcelona. She'll be looking

forward to to moving forward onto that

podium place. She's always a driver,

even if she fell back slightly last

year, would always move forward. So,

they had very good pace. Campos

yesterday. Nina Gman was hugely unlucky

with a technical issue. She executed

everything perfectly, didn't she, with

the the three safety car restarts. So,

she'll be hoping that everything is

sorted with her Pramer machine as she'll

be able to to move forward. But another

nice turnout here in Shanghai as the

crowd uh watch on waiting. A slightly

delayed start due to that that oil, but

we'll be underway very soon. Yeah,

absolutely. Uh as you say, let's just

listen in Chloe Chong. And there's still

an extra formation lap. Is that right?

Correct. Yes, there's an extra formation

lap, right? So, that's something that we

can all learn. So, there'll be an extra

formation lap to and you can see where

they've put the dust down where there's

been oil and it all goes down all the

way down the grid. So, I think that's

why they're doing a rolling start

because those who would be starting

there would be very disadvantaged,

wouldn't they? Yes, that is that is the

reason, Ben, because it's just that you

can see from the road motorsport

Charlotte Tilbury of Khloe Chong, it

would be they'd all be heavily impacted

on on that side of the grid. So, it is

only fair for for them all to have a

fair shot having uh the the start under

under safety car. And as you you heard

there from the radio message from Chloe

Chambers, an extra formation lap just to

try and move some of that dust. We were

sat there watching and even that when

the safety car came out, it kicked up so

much dust at that final corner and

whoever is going to be the leader um

coming round on that that first push lap

effectively that we have that's underway

at higher speed. Uh they'll be hoping

that dust is not going to be too slippy.

But there's our wild card entry. She who

unfortunately didn't make it through the

opening lap yesterday just having a spin

down on the exit of turn seven. So,

she'll be hoping to to go slightly

further in this race and gain that vital

experience from from this F1 Academy

machinery. Yeah, let's hope she can get

a little further in this race. And the

only uh Chinese race that racer that has

raced in F1 Academy so far. Yeah, with

the support of the fans, of course, as

well. Let's hope that she has a better

lap this time. So, she's starting down

in 17th place. But I tell you what,

people made some good uh uh gains up the

order yesterday. Three drivers who

started outside the top 14 made points

in the top eight places. Now this one

was a difficult one for Joan Shikante.

She didn't have a particularly good

time. She is starting in sixth place.

She actually was third on the reverse

grid. Finished in 14th last basically.

Uh but she had a couple of penalties.

She had to stop go penalty and had to do

it again or get more of a penalty

because she did it during the safety car

period which of course you're not meant

to do. So it didn't go well for Joan

Shiconte. But let's see how she goes.

starting from sixth and uh she will she

is the youngest of all only two days

younger than Alba Lassson who's starting

third but Joan Shikonte she is 16 both

of them were born in December 2008 it's

a very young and up and cominging talent

on the grid able to showcase what

they're made of but Maya Ver she'll be

hoping to to to almost continue her form

of towards the end of last season she

was the final race winner back in in Abu

Dhabi and got her first pole position on

Saturday in this qualifying session.

She'll be calm as ever. And you can see

just on the steering wheel there, they

are have got sort of the FIA system on

this F1 Academy car and the slippery

surface flag was out. Here's Tina

Houseman. Uh try to work together with

Nina. Okay. It's your teammate. It's not

your enemy. So, we work together and we

have to jump some girls in front.

Interesting. Yeah, try and work with

your teammates. So, they are PRMA

teammates. Tina Houseman starts ninth.

Nina Gademan starts in eighth place. So,

you're looking at Tina Houseman there

with the Aston Martin livery. Nina Gman

running the Alpine car. There you see

it. So, you can see how close they are

on the grid and they've been asked to

work together. Yes. I wonder if Tina

gave a response back to that or not.

Likewise, I'm sure Nina was passed on

the same message, but just trying to to

not get in an unnecessary fight with

each other if one is slightly faster

that to to to maybe allow them to pass

to to move forward. They clearly know

that that Premma car has has got good

pace around here. Okay, Dorian struggled

slightly yesterday in the race, but was

still on good form in qualifying. And

actually Nah's pace with the very little

racing laps that that we had was was

pretty strong during the race as well

yesterday. Absolutely right. It's

interesting actually these Formula 4

cars as they are um they are a junior

single-seater category of course but

there this is a a track where the speeds

go up and we've seen one of the fastest

times at the end of the straight. Uh

Raphaela Ferrer had that at 248 km an

hour which is 154 mph. 154 mph in a

Formula 4 car. It's pretty impressive. I

mean, we have a long straight here. You

do get a toe as well, but that is

impressive for these young drivers. It

is, like you said, with its type of

machinery, uh, that's certainly shifting

and I'm sure, uh, none of these drivers

are paying too much attention to the

speeds when they're racing wheelto-heel

down that back straight. But, uh, it's

great for us to know that this is a good

level of machinery for for the young

drivers. And there's Courtney Courtney

Cone who starting slightly further down

the order than I'm sure she she would

have liked in 14th place. She was a wild

card at Miami last year. So, she's had a

little bit of experience prior to coming

into this weekend of of how being on the

world stage on a Formula 1 weekend, how

big that can be and the importance of

it. But, of course, it's great for for

these girls to to show what they can do.

And I'm looking forward to some exciting

racing on this one as the formation lap

is underway. Absolutely. And this is an

exciting track of course for Shanghai

International. That first uh section for

turns one, two, and three always a big

challenge. They did well with it

yesterday. They managed to all get

through it pretty much without there was

a little bit of incident but no major

contact. So it all went well. We shall

see how it goes when we get into the

race. So let's hear from the top three

on this grid in reverse order. And let's

start off with the 16-year-old from

Denmark, Alberta Larson.

I'm hoping that I can keep up with the

with my Dian just getting uh lots of

points and yeah, hopefully finishing up

there as well. And yeah, just getting a

lot of experience and I know it's my

first race, so yeah, at the same time,

I'm not expecting too much, but uh the

P3 is going to yeah, help with the

points.

I'm hoping to win and I will I will go

for it. Um as I said, we have one more

set new. So, uh I think we have pretty

good chances to uh to do a good race.

So, uh we're going to focus on also on

Sunday to uh to get as much as possible

uh points and and finish on top.

Hopefully have a good start. Um the pace

probably will be nice hopefully. Uh but

then yeah, we have a very long straight

in uh before T14. So have to try and

find a way to to keep people behind me

at the beginning and then hopefully pull

away. Maybe we'll try.

Well, Maya Ver, who starts from pole

position, who's had one win last year,

at the end of the year, she took the

last victory of last year, but today

when she finished in third, she got a a

ninth podium. Is she going to be able to

take another victory today, do you

think? Well, she'll be hoping that that

is going to be the case. But just to

point out, interesting what Dorian said

uh uh in her interview that she has one

set of new tires which will be bolted on

that Mercedes livery machinery. And from

what I I gather from reading the press

release on F1 Academyy's website from

the the quotes from the drivers after

qualifying, it sounds like Premma were

the only ones really to to save a set of

new tires. So, uh really interested to

see her her pace. Um it this circuit

does really take a lot out the tires

particularly in that first long sector

that turn one the radius really tightens

there up into turn two. So that front

left takes quite a beating and we've

seen not just from F1 Academy but also

the F1 drivers really struggling through

this uh through this long long turn

while now into turn two here riding on

board with uh yesterday's race winner

Alicia Palmovski.

Yeah, she did a great job yesterday. I

mean, she was a little bit fortunate

that Gadamman, Paul Gamman, had that

technical issue when she was leading the

race quite comfortably, but then uh she

did a fantastic job of just being able

to hold on and Alicia Palmoski taking

that that first win for her. So, she she

leads on 10 points, but remember there

are 25 points on offer for the victory

in this race because this is not reverse

grid. so that you get fewer points in

the reverse grid race, but Alicia

Paloski currently leads on 10 points at

this stage and uh we will see how it all

goes. Chloe Chambers is currently second

on nine and my ver because she got the

pole position, you get two points for

pole position. She's third on eight. So

the top three only separate separated by

three points. That will be very

different after this race when they get

the full F1 point system of 25 from the

start from the win. or so as well get a

point for for fastest lap to the driver

that is in the top 10 during this race

and top eight for the uh for the first

race. So I'm expecting if there's one

extra formation that we're on it now I

I'm hoping that that means that the

safety car lights will go out shortly.

We'll keep an eye on on our screen, Ben,

to see if that No, it looks like they're

possibly maybe going around again as the

MP Motorsport team watch on. Nick, of

course, new driver moving across from MP

is Maya and she settled in quite nicely,

it must be said.

Yeah, it's like really dusty, really

slippery. So, I think another formation

lap is the right choice.

She must have our country on in in in

the car there. So, uh it sounds like

another formation lap. It it does look

particularly slippery. Uh the the the

through there where they're going now,

which is the the final corner into turn

16. It is the F4 cars are moving it ever

so slightly. Um but uh not a a great

deal, but hopefully we will get some

action underway very soon. You've raised

plenty of times when you're on a track

where you where there's been oil going

down and they've dusted over it. You've

got to be pretty wary, haven't you? And

and the whole thing really often is to

try and stay off that area completely.

It is, but when it's on the apex, it's

it's particularly tricky. So, what a lot

of these drivers would have would have

done a bit. And actually, I I don't know

if we actually caught a glimpse of of

Maver going through that final corner.

She probably would have backed off

slightly from the safety car. Of course,

you can't drop too far back. more than

five car lengths is is not allowed. But

she would have just tried to feel the

grip through that last corner because of

course she she is hoping that she will

be the driver that's going to come

through uh that that uh that final

corner in first place. But all the

drivers would have done something

similar is just try and carry a bit of

more speed through that final corner

compared to to anywhere else on this lap

at the moment just to get a feel of the

condition through there. And it sounds

like that's exactly what Chloe Chambers

have been doing cuz she came on the

radio of course and said it's

particularly slippery. So nice and clean

on this part of the circuit. You can see

they're bleeding their way down into

turn 11. A couple of overtakes. I think

Tina Houseman made one down there during

the the start of the race yesterday. The

lights are off on the safety car then.

Great. So we will get a rolling start

and once they get around to the start

finish line once again and coming as you

say into this section that leads onto

the longest straight uh where we saw

those high speeds and the toe. It was

interesting I was just looking at the

speeds they were doing yesterday and

Nina Gman who of course was leading all

the race until she had to retire but she

never got a toe. So the fastest she got

down the straight was about 5 miles an

hour slower than many of the others

because they were all getting toes from

behind. So that sort of shows us that

you get about 5 mph gain when you get

the toe from the car ahead. Yes. No DRS,

no push to pass or anything like that.

So you are just relying on a decent exit

and the toe from from the car in front

as Maya Ver is uh still building tire

temperature and the track temperature is

around about 5° uh cooler. Actually,

it's just gone up a little bit more. So

around about 4° cooler than it was

yesterday. Air temperatures fairly

similar. But uh she'll coming down into

turn 14, the heavy braking zone. And I'm

guessing she's going to leave it fairly

late.

Well, let's see how this goes because we

are getting ready for the second race to

get on the way. You can hear as we're on

board with Dorian Pan that the power's

really picking up. And now it is Maya

who earned pole position and is now

taking the rolling start for this second

race of the season. Hyberg has launched

away but she is already under pressure

from her big rival Dorian Pat and Dorian

Pat in the Mercedes livery coming around

the outside into turn one around the

outside of the Ferrari but is it enough?

I'm not sure it is. Maya Ver trying to

hold that inside line or she had to

correct a brilliant overtake from Dorian

Pan. Is she going to get it stopped for

turn three? She does. And Ma was a bit

tentative through that final corner

under that oil. Of course, she's the

first driver through there on the safety

car restart. I was expecting her maybe

to leave it slightly later, but she's

going to be determined to duck into the

back of that tur. Everyone clean in the

background. Nina Gman's trying to get

past Emma Felbay in front. Oh, they've

made contact. Gman and Falamire. What a

shame. They were eighth and seventh on

the starting grid. And they both have

had a difficult time this weekend when

they should really have been on the pace

all the time. Was it Houseman or was it

Yeah, it was Tina House that those she

was told to make sure you work with your

teammate and the the off happened. Yeah,

it fell. Oh no, we've got more spins as

well or Ian Noble's off. Oh dear. Oh

dear. This is all getting a little bit

tricky. Nicole Hara as well. And there's

damage to the cars on also going off

there as well. We've got the number 25

car, Javani Conte. So, oh, this is

really proving to be a difficult start.

It is. Of course, there's going to be a

safety car after the stricken cars that

we have. I think that was down by the

looks of it. Maybe at turn turn eight.

Uh I think it was. But frustration for

Maya Verge. She'll be kicking herself uh

for for losing that position at the

start, particularly when Dorian's got

those those new tires bolted on. But

that is that's heartbreak for Nobles who

didn't finish yesterday. Exactly. second

race in a row that she's been climbing

out of the car pretty well, this is even

earlier than the other the other race.

She was going for a little longer and

that is really disappointing for the

18-year-old Brazilian in her second year

of F1 Academy and unfortunately it's all

gone wrong and also the uh disappoint

for Joan Sukonte there on the left hand

side number 25 in the F1 Academy colors.

So, uh, she is supported by F1 Academy

with MP Motorsport, and that is so

disappointing for the youngest entry

16-year-old. She did finish the first

race, but only down at the back because

she had penalties. So, tough weekend for

her as well. Yeah, definitely a big

disappointment for for those drivers. We

get a few replays gathered together. A

lot of damage on on on some of those

cars. So, big frustration for for those

that are out early on. Another DNF for

Hava, too. She got hit by Khloe Chong,

didn't she, in the first race, her

number two that you're looking at there,

the Canadian, she's out of this race as

well. So, it it seems to be a similar

bunch sadly who had problems in the

first race. Okay, let's have a look at

this, Alice. See what we can work out.

So, Dorian was already tucked nicely

underneath the rear wing of Maya Berg

and braved it round the outside.

possibly with that extra grip from the

new tires that she's got on her Premma

Racing machine, she was able to hold it

around the inside and actually she

pinched Maya quite nicely, forced her

slightly on the curb and you can see all

the corrections and there was contact

Ben the front wings uh of Dorian

Patton's car just touching the rear of

Maya V. And you can see tucked up face

full of dust uh for for Dorian. But she

won't mind cuz she sailed through a

great move round the outside of Mayberg.

Let's have a look at this front one line

as you say. And she just moved in tight.

My goodness, she really went for that.

She could have almost clipped the front

wing around the outside and this was

beautifully done. We've seen this

before. Look at the correction. She's

having to do and not quite as much

correction as Ver had to, but she had to

deal with it. She did and she dealt with

it so well and a big s relief coming

from her. She took the risk and it paid

off. But after yesterday, she knew she

had to take the risk. So, let's have a

little look further on in the

background. So, you can see Tina

Houseman's going down the inside. Just a

late move once again. Uh

yeah, seriously just took me out. Yeah.

So, Nina Gman who led so much of the

first race getting taken out by D

Houseman. Now, I'm just looking at Joan

Jakonte. I think she was so unlucky

here. G's got nowhere to go and I think

her rear I don't know why. I don't know.

Uh well, Houseman

saying and the they are they are

teammates, aren't they? They're both

with Pramer. Yeah. So, watch the F1

Academy car livery car here. Are we

going to be able to see it? So, Joan

Conte was just unlucky. We can't really

see it from this on board, but I think

her rear is just slightly clipped. Tina

Houseman spinning Aston Martin there.

Let's have a look. Is it going to be

front wheel to rear wheel? Oh, maybe

it's I think it's another incident

probably. Yeah, it must be another

incident. But the fact that the Pramer

drivers were spoken to on the grid and

now they've ended up hitting each other.

Ah, right. There we go. Oh dear. So, the

contact being made there from Khloe

Chong into the back of Joi Conte and

then the others trying to avoid her but

they couldn't. Yeah.

Oh my god, I'm so unlucky.

Yes. Yes, she there's no words else to

say back to that. She she is. So that

was all calls from Khloe Chong going

into the back of Joan Jakonte and then

uh sadly for Nicole Hava and Oran Nobles

had nowhere to go at all. So sadly early

end for for those two drivers. They have

or three drivers should I say all made

it back and I'm expecting there'll be uh

some kind of penalty for for Khloe

Chong. Stewart are quite quick with

making their their decisions. Yeah, she

got a penalty, a 10-second penalty in

the earlier race, the race one, uh, when

she we she hit Hava that time. And, uh,

well, yeah, it's just not going well at

all, is it, for that little bunch? They

they just couldn't get out of the way. I

do feel for them that the cars are all

being moved out of the way so that we

can get the racing started, restarted

again with Dorian Pan currently leading

with the Mercedesbacked PMA team. The

PMA team have lost two of their cars

though as we've seen. Well, not lost

them but certainly lost plenty of

positions. There's one of them there.

The number 78 of Tina Houseman who had

that contact with Nina Gman. There they

are. Nina Gman and right at the back

now. So, uh, it's a bit ironic, but for

the Premer team, they've got a car

leading and then they've got two cars

right down the back of the field. One

thing to also point out is Alba Larson,

she's held on to the the charging Khloe

Chambers in P3. So, she's had a a decent

restart. It was all going off at the

front and the the mid pack that we we

missed that. So, good start by her.

She's also mentored, so I've been told

by by Kevin Magnus. So, I'm sure he's

given he's had plenty experience around

this track. So, he would have passed on

uh some some wise words, I'm sure. Also,

keep an eye out for the Williams livery

carpet further down the order down in

11th place. That's Leah Block, who

started right down at the back of the

grid. She started down in 18th place.

She's got up to 11th place. Um you can

see uh you just see in the background

Joan Sukant now talking to her team. uh

the disappointment the the tough one of

uh coming back into the pit so early in

the race after that incident but there's

nothing she can do about it. So yeah,

we're looking back at the race leader

right now as we're still behind the

safety car, but as I mentioned, Leah

Blanc has made good amount of ground

moving from 18th to 11th. She's just

ahead of Ava

Anognastiadis who started down in 15th

place and um Anagastiadis managed to

finish in eighth place in the first

race. Can you give me an explanation of

why Tina hit me? Did she lock up or I

have no current information. We'll

review it after the race. Okay. Just to

give you some info on that. She was

pretty far behind me, so it's pretty

hard to to hit me. Copy. She's not happy

Nina Gman, is she? No. Um and and

rightly so.

I believe she Tina was defending from

another car. Let's have a little look

the top of the screen. Yes. So, she was

defending from Jakonte and just just

outbreed herself. Plain and simple

there. Had nowhere to go. She applied a

bit more brake with a bit more steering

lock and that's what's caused the uh the

lock up. You could just see puffs of

smoke come out and then Nina was the

innocent party being tagged and and spun

round. So real frustration as you could

hear from the voice of Nina Gman, but

safety car is is ending. Dorian's going

to be feeling pretty confident, I can

imagine. Mayberg knows she's got to try

and get past Dorian as early as she can,

particularly when Dorian's on those new

set of Pirelli tires, but the safety car

lights will go out now. And uh

interesting to see where Dorian's going

to going to go with her safety car

restart this time. Absolutely. We'll

keep an eye on some of those further

down. Courtney Cone, by the way, in

ninth place. She's come up from 14th on

the grid. So, she's also trying to make

some progress. The American 24y old who

has raced all sorts of things over the

years, but is doing F1 Academy full-on

this year. So, here we are then. Still a

little way to go before we get the race

actually restarted. They'll decide where

to go. As you say, Dorian Pan, will she

keep them all together? At the moment,

she is. As they come down the straight,

she's definitely not accelerating away

hard yet. She's keeping the pace quite

slow. Those at the back need to be a

little cautious, but they're all very

aware at this point. And then we'll be

seeing when she going to go for

it. She's waiting. She's weaving. Trying

to distract the driver behind, but also

keeping up some tire

temperature, making sure that your revs

are nice and settled, and it's you're

eager not too early so you crash into

the back, but not too late where you

don't get a good start. And I'm

expecting she's going to go in the

middle of that hair pin where where

May's got the most amount of lock on. So

it's a carbon copy. They've copied each

other effectively. She'll be the first

one to test out this dust once again.

Yeah. So into the final corner and the

race gets back underway again under

green flag. And Dorian Pan who qualified

in second has taken that lead off the

first lap and stays in front on the

restart as well. Maya Verb in second

place. The two of them being chased by

Alma Lson and Khloe Chambers still

getting nicely involved. Then Leah Glock

as I mentioned number 57 up on the

outside trying to make the move on

Raphaela Ferrer. But both of them

actually are making ground up as they

come because Ferrer she started down in

16th place and they're now potentially

scoring points. They'll all score points

down to 10th position. Ferrer in that

10th place at the moment. Leo in 11th

position. And we'll see whether Gman is

going to be able to make some ground. He

has already made a little bit of ground.

Ella Lloyd number 20 there also trying

to make a move to get past and see

whether she can gain any places on Emma

Felbay. You're on board with Ella. Yeah.

Road in Motorsport teammates as they

come through the fast turn seven. You

can see big corrections from both there.

Alicia Palmowski as well fighting at the

wheel. Our race winner yesterday under

pressure in these early stages of this

race from Emma Felmire who's new to car

racing. It's her first year racing in

cars and she's in a sandwiched two

fairly experienced drivers. Both racing

in F4 level machinery last year in the

UK and of course both did a wildcard

entry. So they know a little bit of what

F1 Academy is about. So here's some

moves in the background. I'm just

looking at Nina Gman went nicely down

the inside of Tina Houseman and actually

got shei as well who ran slightly wide

from the apex at turn one. And Tina Hson

actually played it rather carefully,

cautiously. Maybe she was feeling a bit

bad after what had happened in that

earlier. Yeah. And she has got a

10-second penalty. Look, that's come up

as well. No surprise. Now you got to go

battle up front, though. And Dorian Pan

did do some lockups into this hairpin in

race one. She did it nicely there.

Didn't make any mistakes, but she's

still under pressure. And the toe you

get down that main straight sometimes

help close the group together. Yes, it

does. But the pace from from Doran is

not what I was necessarily expecting

early on in this uh this race,

especially with the the new tires bolted

on. Len with the fastest lap. So great

job by the 16year-old Dne who's closely

following the her teammate of Mayberg in

front. Okay, their liveries are

different but both being operated by MP.

So Dorian under pressure, but we know

how good of a driver Dorian is. She can

soak up the pressure. Mayberg taking a

slightly wider line allowing the car to

to run out possibly hoping to try and

look after the tires ever so slightly.

But these two drivers so experienced

from from racing and uh uh both have

achieved great results in other

categories that they have raced in. But

Len, she said in her interview, didn't

she before the race that she's gonna

going to hope she can stay with me and

Dorian and so far she's doing a pretty

good job of that. She is, although she

is under a bit of pressure from Khloe

Chambers in the Red Bull livery car

there. And Chloe of course who set the

fastest lap in race one potentially has

that performance behind her. Alicia

Palmovski still running in fifth place.

And then Emma Felba getting pretty close

in in the uh the Sala coloring. Uh she's

doing a good job. So we've got quite a

group here. Dorian P has pulled away

just a little bit at a crucial part of

the lap because if you can just make

your break a little bit up into turns

11, 12 and going down the straight, then

you've got that little gap you need as

you get into the slipstream area where

Maya Verb will be able to close back up

again. Yeah, she's had a very good

middle sector actually, Dorian. So

potentially these uh new tires taking

slightly longer than what she'd like to

to come in. Um, but she's done a very

very good job. Maybe she's also just uh

looking after the tires as we've still

uh still a decent way to go. A late move

there from Chloe Chambers having a look

down the inside. I think she had to hit

the inside curve to avoid contact there.

That's going to push her back slightly

into her fellow Red Bull teammate and

Alicia Palski, but uh escaped there.

Emma Felmire is doing a great job. She's

she's caught up on the back of this

pack. So all all cars separated at the

front at least by uh around about 2 3

seconds. Certainly 3 seconds between the

top six. Yeah, absolutely. But Lloyd

doing a good job too because she uh she

did qualify down in 11th place. She's in

seventh position as we're watching Leah

block now trying to make the move once

again. and see whether she can get past

Courtney Cone. But Courtney Cone just

defending in the backed machine, but

also as you can see under some serious

pressure from Nina Gamman. So let's see

how this goes. Nina Gman number three,

the one behind the Alpine livery. Is she

going to go for the inside? No. Okay.

Just holding position at this stage.

Still got a few laps to go. It's finding

the right moment. It is. It is. It's not

rushing it. Mistakes can can be made.

Let's have a look of a replay of Ferrer

down the inside of Courtney Cone. Just

about got it stopped. So, it's a nice

move. Leah Block, of course, didn't

start qualifying. She had a big crash,

big incident in free practice. Here's

this replay, Ben. A late out from

Chloe Chambers and the right decision to

maybe pinch the apex there uh to avoid

any contact. Yeah. So, it was good that

she did go tight and to be fair, Alberta

Lson gave a little bit of space. It

wouldn't have been enough if Khloe

Chambers hadn't really gone for the

curb. That was good by both of them.

They just gave each other just enough

room before it all went wrong. So, well

done to them as we're still in that

battle further down the order really to

try and get into the points particularly

for Nina Gman who's outside of the

points at the moment. whereas leading

this particular little group of them at

the moment. Uh Courtney Cone has that

potential to take the final point, but

she's got serious pressure now. And Leah

Block is the one behind her. Meanwhile,

Tina Houseman is also coming up from the

back after that incident earlier. And

Leah Block, no, didn't quite manage it

there. No, she was trying I saw what she

was trying to do, trying to get the cut

back there, but just wasn't able to to

do so. Houseman's got past Agad

Nostiardis at the the tail end of the

field there, but Dorian Pan is

controlling the pace out front. She uh

has set a pretty identical lap time

between her and Maya Bug block. She's on

the charge again. She's going to try and

do what Dorian did at the start. Brave

it round the outside. These are two ART

teammates. And nice move. So she's able

to to to sweep past her teammate there

who's now going to come quickly under

pressure from the charging Alpine of

Nina Ga. But a nice move from the

Williams driver. Yeah, she had to

correct it a bit, but it was good. She

really went on the attack uh late on the

brakes. Had to do some over steer

correction as we as she went through

turns one and two, but she has dealt

with it well as you say and she is now

in the points and also Gman now gets

past. So Nina Gman who had that incident

earlier on got taken out by her

teammate. She is gradually moving up the

order. Khloe Chambers you're looking at

once again. This is the battle for

third. Remember at this stage it's

Alberta Larson who is still holding on

to that third place with Khloe Chambers

who finished second in race one keeping

the pressure on. And then it's Alicia

Palmoski who took the win in race one.

She's just watching this trying to stay

on the pace. She she made a very

sensible quote I saw after that race.

She wasn't expecting necessarily to come

into this second race with a further

down grip position and be quite so able

to take a victory and she's doing a

sensible job now. Let's see as they come

down the straight whether this is a

chance for Khloe Chambers. She's going

to be under pressure. Alba Lararsson 210

was the gap coming onto the straight.

You certainly needed a bigger gap to

have a have to breathe easy into turn

14. She's having a check of a mirror.

She's pulling over to defend is it? But

she's left a bit of room for Khloe

Chambers to go down the inside. And

Chambers has moved up into third as long

as she can hold it. But she breaks late

and runs wide and Albas have got the

braking perfectly and gets back into

that third place. Yeah, great driving

from these two. Nice fair, nice and

clean. Bit dusty on that inside. Chloe

was pinched to the inside there. Alba

left plenty of space, but just the dust

from the previous race and and overnight

that's gathered on the inside there.

Maybe just caught Chloe out ever so

slightly, wasn't able to to get the car

stopped. And actually, this this pair

here have have dropped the Palmki and

Felmire ever so slightly, even saying

that this battle has allowed them to to

pull that gap down slightly. Yeah. It's

still going to be a pressure this for

third place, but up front there is no

doubt that that gap that Dorian Pal has

opened up, she's doing a great job at

this stage up to 1.4 seconds. And Maya

Ver, I just don't think she's quite got

the pace to be able to go on the attack.

Mind you, you only need one little error

at this stage and suddenly it can all

change again. But we've seen Dorian P,

her experience not only in F1 and

Academy, all sorts of other forms of

racing. This was the move then. Yeah,

you can see the marbles and the dust on

the inside there and a last minute lock

up from Chloe Chambers. She was

desperately trying to get the car

stopped using the gears to slow it down,

but the brakes as well. There's a a move

further back. Is this going to be Tina

Houseman gaining a position on Courtney

Cone coming down into turn 14. Let's

have a little look. Tina Houseman on the

outside. Does she get the car stopped?

She has a check of the mirrors. She's

going to run slightly wide, so it

doesn't look like to me position gained.

No, it doesn't quite work for her,

unfortunately. But still on the attack,

still having a go at it. We're on lap

nine out of 11. Dorian Pa is the race

leader at this stage. Mayberg in second

position. This is the fight for third

place that we have seen going down to

the end of the straight. And last time

it didn't quite work for Khloe Chambers.

She's got the toe again. She's gaining

five or six miles an hour. But is she

close enough? I doubt it this time. And

she stays behind. Gets a feel for the

breaking. Oh, and there's a good move up

the inside. Felmayer battling away and

getting past Palmovski. But Paloski is

now maybe going to get it back again.

But oh, I think Felba's got the inside

line. Yeah, she's made it work. Emma

Felbaire in the S

Salv car run by Rodin. She's done well

there in her first full F1 Academy

season, but look, she's under pressure.

Do you think? Oh, and Chloe Chambers.

Chloe Chambers up the inside into turn

one. Yeah, but is going to try and hold

it round the outside. I don't think

she's going to have the grip to do so.

You can see her fighting at the wheel,

but she was soaking up so much pressure

and didn't read the situation so well

going down into turn 14, but maybe

misjudged it slightly of how close Khloe

was down into to turn one. But great job

Felbar as well has taken the position

from Palmovski. So, she's moved forward.

So, great driving by uh by Larsson and

Felmar to our two rookies that we've got

running up in the top six. But Chloe

Chambers, she's set free now. She's 2.4

seconds behind Maya Berg in second

place, but I know she'll get her head

down. She's not got very long left to go

to do it though. Yeah, she did get fast

in that first place as we said, but uh

we shall see whether she can really

close the gap. It's a bit of a big gap

still for her to do. She did a decent

job though. Had to work at it. And fair

play to Alba Larson. Let's uh let's have

another little look now. So this was the

Oh. Oh, there was a bit of contact.

Didn't know that Palmoski had actually

made a little touch to the back of Emma

Felber. And it was the the front nose.

That should be okay in terms of uh the

risk for Emma getting uh any kind of

puncture there. But here's the move from

Khloe

Chambers. She's thought, well, hang on.

It's opened up for me there. I'm going

to send it down the inside. never need

leave a gap for Khloe Chambers cuz she's

likely to take it and she did there. Oh,

finally.

Sigh of relief. She set herself free to

to charge down uh the next position. And

uh there's more battles raging further

down there. Elo Lloyd, you can see in

seventh place, but behind her there's a

battle between Khloe Chong and Raphael

at Ferrer. Ferrer on the outside, Khloe

Chong on the inside. Oh, can they both

get round safely? Yes. They give each

other space. It's giving Leia Blot

behind an opportunity to get even closer

at this stage. And Raphaela Ferrer in

the number 18 car putting a lot of

pressure under Khloe Chong. Khloe Chong

does have a penalty remember. So

actually they're not effectively racing

for this position when the penalty comes

out. It is for eighth on track as it is

at the moment, but Trong has been given

a penalty. So that will be an aspect

when we get the full result. Yeah, that

gap's not closing as well. Just looking

at the timing tower on the left of our

screen, Ben, Chloe Chambers not pulling

down that gap and it was going to be a

tough ask for her to to chase down. So,

uh she won't be able to to unless of

course a mistake from from Meer in

front, but it looks like the sectors at

the moment is all in control. But this

battle still rages on for eighth place.

As you said, Ben, a penalty already for

Khloe Chong. She will still drop uh

behind these drivers that are behind

her, but Leah Block has joined the

party. She'll be hoping to try and uh

sneak past Ferrer. It's actually contact

between these two during free practice

uh in the early stages of Friday which

uh caused Leah to to have big chassis

damage and she actually had to change

chassis. So, she wasn't able to to take

part in in qualifying, but she'll be

looking to try and make her way forward

uh in the final stages of this race.

Yeah, it's a very good point. Yeah,

there was contact between the two the

the number 57 and the number 18 cars in

that session which stopped qualifying

completely for Leah Block. So now and it

was down this straight. It was just one

of those things they were weave uh

weaving around. Ferrer was weaving

around to warm the tires up and as Leah

Block was behind she just moved over and

the weave came at the wrong time. They

made contact. So that's what took Leah

Block out. Let's see how it goes for the

race. Both of them are trying to pick up

the toe. And here comes Raphaela Ferrer

to the outside as they head down towards

the hairpin. Now, will Leah Block have a

little go as well? She's waiting to see

what's going to happen ahead of us.

Meanwhile, across the line, taking the

victory. Dorian Pan takes win in race

two of F1 Academy 2025. We're still

watching to see what happens. May

finished in second. Khloe Chambers in

third place. Alma Len in fourth

position. But is this going to change

further back? Chloe Chong, the penalty

has been added to the list now. So

although she managed to fend them off of

course with that penalty that she had,

she is being pushed down the order and

it has we have seen that Albasa finished

in fourth place. Emma Felba in fifth

place. The winner of race one, Palmoski,

she's finished in sixth place. But

Dorian Pan has done a great job up front

from that second place on the grid.

What a race. Thank you so much for the

car. This was brilliant.

Beautifully executed by Dorian Pan. She

got into the lead at that restart.

Menberg, I'm sure, will be bitterly

disappointed. Was a little bit tentative

going into that final corner where all

that dust was. clearly didn't have the

confidence to to go through there with a

slightly higher place, but still good

points. She had a good race yesterday on

the podium and consistency is key and

it's going to be the difference by the

end. Whoever's been consistently up

there racking up those points by the end

of the championship and another solid

drive as well from Khloe Chambers.

Double podium for her and Merberg this

weekend. Yeah, absolutely. And and in

many ways, these are the three that were

expected to be potential championship

con well series contenders as it is uh

for this uh F1 academy. And Khloe

Chambers, as you say, did a very good

job, very consistently quick. Had to

work hard to get past Alba Larson. And

Ala Larson is one we're going to need to

watch throughout the course of this year

because she's in her first F1 Academy

event. Um she qualified so well in third

place and she raced well, very

effectively. It was hard work to get

past her. She did. And if she is

disappointed, she shouldn't be for for

someone so young and her level of

experience. She was fighting it up

against the more experienced drivers up

there. So, really showed uh what a

promising talent she is and did a great

job to put herself up there in

qualifying as well.

Thank you to the old team for the for

the weekend. I'm really happy to finish

like this. Uh it's good.

Yeah. Well, it's very impressive what

Dorian Pan has done um in her second

full season of F1 Academy, the three

victories last year. So, it's her fourth

career win now in F1 Academy, but she's

a very experienced driver. She started

racing Cleos in France after carting uh

back in 2020. She has now raced at big

events like Lemon, Daytona, the Spa 24

hours, but she is focusing very much on

single seaters at the moment to try and

take the title. She battled with Abby

pulling a lot last year, but couldn't

hold on to to beat her. But this is a

real opportunity this season, isn't it?

It is. She's going to stand off her

Mercedes machine. The pocket rocket hops

out and she thumbs up and the number one

signal for her. She'll be really, really

pleased with how she performed during

that race. You can see the Mercedes uh

team down there as well as Prema Racing.

She's actually been off the podium in

the last three races, which is uh

unlikely for her. actually did have a

tough season in a couple of races last

year, but all smiles for the Iron Dames

back driver and Mercedes back driver.

Yeah, and it was really well done. The

move she made from the start and then

just maintaining that pace throughout

and not making any errors at all,

setting a fast lap. Really, really

impressive. And of course, she will now

take the lead in the championship

because she scored five points from race

one from fourth, but she's taken the 25

points for victory in this race. Plus,

uh she'll have the point for fastest lap

as well. So, very very impressive and uh

it will go through. Of course, we've got

a a full seven round series of F1

Academy, two races at each round, so 14

races. And they'll be going to Jedha

next. Um, but it's some fantastic tracks

that they they are getting used to as

well. These are some of the top F1

circuits that they're learning and

that's all part and parcel of developing

their skills, which is what this F1

Academy is about. 100%, Ben. There's

plenty of testing involved in the in the

series as well. These drivers were out

on a three-day test a couple of weeks

ago, Shanghai. They're going to have a

test at Jedha before the race there as

well. Well, so F1 Academy making sure

and Susie Wolf and her team uh that the

drivers are maximizing getting as much

track time as they possibly can. And

there is a rookie test which is new for

this year in September for all the

aspiring young female drivers that are

looking forward to to moving up into F1

Academy. Not just to get to F1 Academy,

but using it as a stepping stone to

progress their career further up the

ladder to Formula 1. We'll see them up

on the podium shortly. We saw some other

good results of course as well. Alicia

Paloski who won race one, she finished

in sixth place. So she scored some

useful points but she'll be a little

disappointed having started fifth. She

hope she might have got a little bit

further but and there are others that

also did a good job. But let's go down

and hear from Kiki Kung who is now

interviewing our race winner.

Dorian, congratulations on a win here in

the race two of the Shanghai Grand Prix.

Um, I mean, that start was amazing. And

from P2 and then leading the rest of the

way, how do you feel right now? It's

amazing, amazing feeling again. Uh,

really happy to to win today. We score

good points and yeah, we did a really

good start. I I knew it was uh the most

important part of the race to to try to

to be in front from the start and uh and

we did it from the outside T1 and I'm

really happy uh for the team and for us

for the beginning of the season. Yes.

And that's definitely really important.

I mean here right here Dorian we have

the series runner up from last season.

This year you've got your eyes set on

the championship. So points are

important. How do you feel going forward

to to the next race? For sure. It's a

really good start of the season. So, uh

it's positive for for the rest season

ahead. Um yeah, so obviously aiming for

for the title this year. I only have

this this goal in mind. So, I will keep

working as much as possible with my team

to to achieve it at the end of the year.

Okay. And of course, everyone here at

the Shanghai Grand Prix, they're excited

to see F1 Academy for the first time. Do

you have a few words to our fans that

have been so excited to see you guys?

Yeah, it's amazing for for all of us to

race in China. Thank you all for for the

support. It's amazing to have the

support from from you all. Um I've been

enjoying a lot with with the fans from

the beginning of the weekend. So I

really enjoy and I will keep a really

good memories from from Shangai.

So, an excellent job by Dorian Pan and

uh we will see her up on the podium in a

moment or two, but she's obviously

delighted with the way the start of the

season has gone. We're just looking at

some of the highlights from that as she

was very much in control of the car and

there's the finishing the checker flag

and enjoying that moment of being in

front so early in the season. Big big

points for her as she leaves the

championship. It's very early days of

course from Mayberg. Five points is the

gap and then Chloe Chambers down in

third place. Two points behind Maya as

drivers head into the cool down room. So

let's uh let's listen in.

We shouldn't no clue where the pace is

going. Yeah.

Chambers on the left there. We're still

waiting for Dorian Pan to turn up. Of

course, having done the interview, they

get a chance to see some of the

highlights. Start like for a start, I

guess. I went to shift to fifth. Yeah,

it didn't go in. So, I just like lost

all the ground I had on Alba.

How come there's so this is this? Oh my

gosh. No, it's not. This is

This is Oh my gosh.

That wasn't moving then. Yeah. I tried

to go in turn 14 and messed it up and

then

Oh, you saw.

Yeah,

I don't think a lot happened in that

race.

You had two new No, I used both sets in

quali, so I was just used

So they are having a little look but

it's a fairly quiet not a big unlike

last year it was quite chatty last year

with with Abby in the in the uh in the

cool down room she never stopped talking

so uh yeah quiet one but you can see

disappointment from from Maya she seemed

a little bit confused as as where the

pace had had gone of course Dorian was

on the the the fresher tires so so maybe

that could could have been been it. Joan

Jakonte, she's nice to see that she's

there supporting the the drivers. Her

her teammate of course is on the podium

as the celebrations are about to get

underway then. Yeah, thanks Alice. And

uh so let's celebrate our top three

coming up onto the podium. And for the

second time here, she's got the podium.

She's finished in third position. Chloe

Chambers, the American. So, a good

performance from her to move up to that

position. Finishing in second place, the

driver that started from pole position

from the Netherlands, Maya Ver with the

Ferrari backing getting plenty of

support. But the victory this time has

gone to the Mercedes supported Dorian

Pan taking her fourth ever victory. The

first win of 2025 for her and now the

championship leader.

The French national anthem plays out for

Dorian having taken the victory and the

trophies. are now being handed out to

our podium finishers. She has a

fivepoint advantage now in the points

battle, but it is a very early stage. Of

course, it is over who has finished in

second place, but it is time to really

celebrate and of course Mercedes uh will

be very very happy to see Dorian Pan

deliver that performance. But Ferrari as

well to see Maya Verb on the podium once

again and Chloe Chambers for Red Bull.

She drove very well. Had to work hard to

get that third place but did it cleanly

and smoothly. Campos taking the early

lead in the team's championship from MP

Motorsport and then Premma Racing. But

celebrations

underway tell by uh by the promotions of

her on the podium how disappointed she

is. But like you said, still plenty of

races left to go, but she will feel that

maybe this is a missed opportunity, a

missed uh chance to to get the maximum

points uh from this race. Yeah, I agree.

I think Mayberg is not as happy as she

would have been if she had managed to

stay in front. So, losing that advantage

from pole position at the start of the

race, it's certainly a bit of a tough

one. But she will come back. She will

work hard at it and we could be in for a

great battle between these three plus

many others in the championship and

especially some of the youngsters who

are already developing like Albert

Larson who finished in fourth place

still learning whereas these three have

had a lot more experience in F1 academy

than some of the others so far. So let's

have a look at the full result then. And

that race victory going to Dorian Pan

starting from second place. Mayberg uh

finishing in second place and Khloe

Chambers taking third. Behind them then

Alba Lson in fourth place. Emma Felba in

fifth. Alicia Palmoski who won race one

in sixth. Ella Lloyd moved up well

seventh. Raphaela Ferrer. She moved up

well too into eighth place. Leah Block

from the back into ninth. And Nina Gman

final point scorer in 10th place having

had an incident early in the race but

she still managed to get a point out of

it. It's been a tough weekend for her,

but at least he's got something out of

the points. Khloe Chong with a penalty.

Uh Courtney Cone, Avia Anagnosti,

Shewayi did finish that second race and

Tina Houseman did finish, but we had

three non-finishers once again, which is

always a shame, of course, in the early

stages. So, there we go. It is uh the

first two races have been completed here

in China, and we've got a great season

going ahead of us. Jeda is on the cards

for the next race. They'll get some

testing in there first, but we will be

enjoying that in a few weeks time. Thank
