Kohberger's attorney, she says
that she believes

the grand jury indictment
should be dismissed.

- She said the grand jury
was impaneled at a time when

the small community
of Moscow, Idaho,

had been exposed to six months
of intense local, national,

and international
media coverage.

- You know, everybody
heard about the case.

I mean, everybody
in that county.

The world's heard
about this case.

So, yes, it's going to be hard
to find an impartial jury.

- Even after
Bryan Kohberger's arrest,

people were just, like,
spinning all these theories.

I mean, the worst-case scenario

in terms of sleuthing

negatively affecting

the University of Idaho case
would be a mistrial.

Bryan Kohberger's defense could
leverage some of the publicity

around his arrest
and all of that stuff

as something that
could cause bias.

- If you have someone who
is capable of this type

of murder, who walks on
technicalities because

of the circus that was
created around a case,

the damage is incalculable.

- And then she
said the shocker--

that Mr. Kohberger
knows there's

evidence to exonerate him.

- Mr. Kohberger knows that
exculpatory evidence exists.

That's interesting.

- Now, could the
defense just be fishing?

We're going to have
to wait and see.

- This is evidence
that likely will come

out in court at some point.

- But until a trial, until
we hear all the evidence,

we got to weigh the facts.

is the new documents that
the defense has released.

And they're a bombshell.

- The document
reads that there is

no DNA from the victims found
in Bryan Kohberger's car,

apartment, home, or office.

- There's no other DNA.

- Nowhere.
There's none.

Also says that there's
three unidentified male DNAs

that were found in
Maddie's room, right here.

- They have provided full
discovery

for the knife sheath,

but not the other three

unidentified male DNA samples.

- To the extent that they don't
have them, they weren't done.

- "DNA from three men, mystery
glove found at crime scene,

says lawyer."

- Two male DNAs were
found within the home

and the other one was found
outside, it says, "on glove."

- This was basically
done with blinders on.

They only focused
on one suspect,

and they did not look at
other potential suspects.

- If they came
across someone

that was unwilling to
give up their DNA,

would the defense
even know about it?

Not with this fucking
police department.

- To me, they kind of verify

what I have been theorizing
for a while--

is that there was multiple
people involved there.

- We all know
the PCA had holes

and not everything adds up.

And while the prosecution
hasn't provided any more

evidence against
Bryan Kohberger,

his defense is telling us
that there's other male DNA

at the scene, which
means they're trying

to argue that either
Bryan is innocent

or he didn't do this alone.

I can only do so
much by myself.

And I've always wanted

We got some documents
that were released

that said that there is
no connection

between Bryan Kohberger
and the victims.

The victims' DNA was not found
in his car, in his apartment,

nowhere, and it just brings
up a lot of questions.

Why was there no DNA found?

Did he clean his
car very thoroughly?

Did he use anything
that--like, Clorox?

It just opens up a bunch
of new questions.

Another one is, do you think
that the defense

is using people like us,
internet sleuths,

to talk about all these things
and create all these theories

and create this
internet frenzy?

- Anne Taylor has been
very strategic in the words

she's used in each
of her filings.

- Do you think there
might be a chance

she's using social media
to create reasonable doubt?

- She does these writings
in a particular way--

certainly to ignite
social-media talk.

She wants to make
a social-media narrative

that will benefit her client.

few months,

I've been working with
Steve Goncalves,

Kaylee's father,

to help him find answers
about his daughter's murder.

We would talk several times
a week for several months.

And even to this day--
like, I was just talking

to him, like,
15, 20 minutes ago.

We share information
with each other.

Out of the blue one night,
he was calling me,

and he told me this
just insane story.

from this man in jail.

His name is Jeff.

Jeff said that he knew someone

who was with Bryan Kohberger,

that he and Bryan Kohberger

went to 1122 King Road

on November 13th
to rob someone.

And this individual
gave Jeff a backpack.

And he said, take this
backpack and discard it.

And Jeff opened it.

And when he looked inside,
there was a black knife,

and there was clothing
with blood on it.

- 99.9% of the people
on the Internet

that want to solve
this case have no idea

what this case is about.

They say, I got this tip
from a family member.

Where did the family member
get the tip?

And where did that
person get the tip from?

Unless you vet it
and you know for a fact

and you have documentation,

you have nothing.

- I want to pursue that lead,

but I'm really--

something is really
holding me back.

Jeff seems, like, sketchy.

I ran background
checks on them,

and, obviously,
Jeff is in jail.

I'm torn between should
I pursue this or not.

allegedly Bryan Kohberger,
walked in there, took out

four people in eight
minutes, and walked out

leaving no blood trail.

and attack "the media" because
"the media" is not fitting

your narrative.

- People don't want there
to be an end because then

that there's been people--

started commenting
that Bryan Kohberger

was being set up.

I was like, hi, I don't know
who you are, but tell us

more about what you're saying.

- I was at a party, you know,
at the apartments nearby.

At around 3:00 a.m.,
I heard a really, really--

a scream that was
like somebody

was being mauled by a bear.

- I found out Dot was
this college student that

was at a party right
next door the night before

and had heard things.

- This anonymous
person named "Dot"

told Brat on a private phone
call that they were friends

with one of the surviving
roommates,

that had told police
that they saw the killer

in the house
the night of the murders.

The surviving roommate
told the police

that they were
in a "frozen shock phase"

and that is why they didn't
call the police

right after they saw
the killer.

- And then I woke
up in the morning

to go outside because
we're not allowed

to smoke in the apartment.

And I went outside
to smoke a cigarette.

It was, like, maybe 8:30.

And there were about five
people congregating outside,

and they were all passing
around a joint, smoking weed.

- So Dot is claiming that they
saw the surviving roommate

smoking with a group
of friends outside the morning

after the murders.

And this is before the
police were even called.

- So you're telling me this
girl did not see any blood,

did not see anything,
walked outside,

smoked some weed
with her buddies,

and nothing's going on, right?

If that is the
truth, then the PCA

is a bunch of crap,
which we already knew,

because, A, she's not in a
frozen shock phase, obviously--

she can go outside
and smoke weed, so...

Plus, allegedly, those kids
are laying there dead

for four and a half hours.

That's a problem.

just a theory.

But if Dot's story
is true, would that mean

that the surviving roommate
didn't call the police

because they were
trying to help other people

possibly cover up the crime?

- They're lying.

They have created a narrative
to protect something

or somebody or themselves.

suggest that they were trying

to frame Bryan Kohberger?

anything to do with this

because the police
cleared them.

So I don't think
they're involved.

that we don't know.

who spews lies.

I go into everything
with, like, good intentions.

And, again, how am I supposed
to verify any of this, right?

you are taking responsibility
for that information

Whether it turns out to be

So, for weeks now,
I've been doing

a deep dive into JLR,

which is Jonathan Lee Riches
on YouTube.

I'm sure if you
guys follow true crime,

you probably have
heard the name before.

- Where did the
knife come from?

- JLR has been
the "boots on the ground" guy.

- I've been covering
this case extensively.

I got sources all around
the case that are talking.

- But he's also been sharing
anonymous-source information...

- My sources told me that
this was going to happen.

- And things he
alleges are true.

But with his questionable
past, I don't know if they are.

- This is Jonathan Lee Riches,
a prolific serial fraudster.

- As you might or
might not know,

you know, I've been

through the criminal justice
system myself.

- He went to prison
for ten years for wire fraud.

I believe they did a
phishing scam,

which was kind of unheard of
at that time.

- During the time
in federal prison,

I would go to the law library.

I was trying to appeal my case,
because I thought

my sentence was unjust.

Going in the law
library, I would

read about criminal cases,
and I became fascinated.

- He allegedly holds the world
record for the highest number

of frivolous lawsuits filed.

- And that just got
me hooked on to it

and understanding about,
you know, how the law works.

- Sometime later
he went to Sandy Hook,

pretending to be
the shooter's uncle.

Gave an interview
for the news.

- You know, one of the things
I've learned over the years

is the media
kind of interviews people

at the scenes of things,

but they don't fact-check
who they're interviewing.

And that just proved my
own point, like, whoa,

these people don't fact-check.

That just validated it.

- Was it right?
Was it wrong?

I think it was a big middle
finger to mainstream media.

- Would I do it now?
Probably not.

You know, that was
a phase in my life.

It was an era in my life.

And it made me
grow as a person.

I feel like I haven't done
that in four or five years.

Like, I've really got
away from that area

and took more of a serious
approach of what I'm doing

He claims to know
of an accomplice

that helped Bryan Kohberger
the night of the murders.

- "These people that
are really responsible,

"they're dangerous,

"and it would be easy
for me to be gotten.

"They also know where people
I love live and work,

so this scares
the shit out of me."

"Write me a support letter
for the parole board

or money on my books"?

She was last seen leaving her

Dana was recently found
in the woods right here.

Was it Bryan Kohberger

who murdered Dana Smithers?

- And it just so happened
that he had moved

around that same time to WSU.

And it's crazy, because one

she and her sister, I believe,
went to school

with Bryan Kohberger,

and they also knew
Dana Smithers.

- His parents have
been subpoenaed

to testify in front of the
grand jury in Monroe County.

- There are reports

Bryan Kohberger's father,
Michael,

testified before a grand
jury at this courthouse

in Stroudsburg,
Pennsylvania, today.

His mother, Maryann, reportedly
testified earlier this week.

Kohberger attended
DeSales University,

about 50 miles
from Smithers' home,

but he is said to have a
watertight alibi

absolving him of any role
in the mom's death.

Stroudsburg police say
they have no evidence

disappearance is in any way

tied to Bryan Kohberger.

had been flagged by
Washington State University.

Several students complained
about Kohberger's rank sexism

to the school,

caused WSU to conduct
a harassment-training seminar,

according to somebody
who had to be part of it.

Kohberger was later
fired from that job.

that Bryan Kohberger

was fired from his
teaching-assistant job.

- Scott Bond,

who is a serial-killer expert
and author,

said that he thinks
that Bryan basically

reached his tipping point

and had to act out
these fantasies,

which, again, going back to
having disciplinary action

as the TA, could indicate
that he was not quite himself

because he was
possibly too obsessed--

this part is
just speculation--

too obsessed with the idea
of doing these killings.

harassed women

at Pennsylvania brewery."

The brewery is the
Seven Sirens Brewing Company.

That's the owner
who did this interview.

He said that Kohberger
would ask women,

staff, or customers,

who they were with at the
brewery, where they lived.

If the women
weren't interested,

he would get upset
with them a little bit.

In one incident,
the owner recalled,

he called an employee a--

And the owner had to come in
and put Bryan in his place

and just deal with him.

- So today is the big day
that Bryan Kohberger

is required to make
his statement on his alibi.

He says he'll give it to them
whenever he feels like it.

- The deadline for court
paperwork has come and went.

It had to be submitted,
Idaho time, 5:00 p.m.

It's almost 10:00 p.m.--about
to turn in for the night.

- Where is this alibi?

where is the alibi?

- I am sure that
Berger's defense team

is going to try to debunk
the pings,

the phone pings
in some way.

- Like, how can you
fight his, like, phone pings?

Like, where is he
going to say he was?

- What are they going to say,

or receipts to prove it, and

can't point to any witness

to corroborate where he was.

and try to develop
it through the trial

happening

the pain that the families

are feeling right now and the
fact that they're going

to have to wait
that much longer

to get their day in court
and to maybe even fully hear

what happened
to their loved ones.

- It's going to be
very hard for all of us

to go through that.

The families don't want
to be in a process that's

going to take that long before
we see the evidence, you know.

We want to see the evidence.

We want to know how
strong the case is.

When do we stop with
hiding all these things?

I mean,
let's get the process going.

I mean, there's nothing
more painful to the family

than just to sit
around doing nothing.

- These were kids
with all of their hopes

and dreams and aspirations.

And they had family members
who adored them.

At the end of the day,
it's so important to remind

people who these victims were.

they were going to go on to do
really special things.

They had bright
futures ahead of them.

tragic case that

has impacted far beyond the
community of Idaho and Moscow.

We're all here trying to
find answers to something

cases like this one

show us just how careful
we have to be

in finding truth.

then more people are
going to know about it.

they should focus
