Let's have a battle for my day! What,
with a battle?

In the last few years, the number of
Americans on the road has skyrocketed.

And that means more traffic, more
accidents, and

also more...

Rage.

With violent road rage of nearly 500%.

This

is where the rubber eats the road.

Over the years,

Road rage has been given labels like
epidemic and public health crisis.

Oh, my God, he's kicking it. And nothing
underscores that more clearly than

road altercation that involved firearms.

According to Everytown Research and
Policy, the number of injuries and

involving guns has increased every year
since 2018.

And like many road rage encounters, most
probably began with a minor slight,

intentional or otherwise, and escalated
from there.

Like this situation.

That seems to have started over a simple
traffic infraction.

And leave even the driver who appears to

admit to the offense.

Seemingly incredulous that it has come
to this.

Fortunately, in this case, reason wins
out.

But the 554 victims who were injured or
died as a result of road rage shootings

in 2022 prove that that is not always
the case.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

According to news reports.

The driver of this pickup truck has
allegedly been driving dangerously and

performing burnouts down the main strip
of this seaside town.

A reckless ride that up ahead comes to
an abrupt

stop when, according to news reports, he
rear -ends the SUV ahead.

Moments later, the suv driver steps in
front of the truck reportedly to block

from leaving to no avail

which prompts an immediate response

from the suv driver's fiance who's
apparently

armed and the conversation

between the two

Does not cool things down.

As the truck continues forward with the
woman in front.

And the man with the gun edged into the
SUV.

An alleged gunshot is heard.

Sending the truck fleeing down the
street.

With the woman having just gotten
cleared.

The couple leave the scene moments
later.

But witnesses capture the SUV's plate
information.

According to news reports, the truck
driver is unhurt.

But the 37 -year -old alleged shooter is
arrested days later. And according to

court records, charged with discharging
a firearm into an occupied motor

vehicle. Possession of a weapon during
an attempt to commit a violent crime.

An attempted murder.

Just one more example of how the
introduction of a firearm

makes things significantly worse

for everyone.

According to the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration, an

view due to glare on a car's windshield

may be a factor in as many as 42 ,000
crashes each year.

And though these glares can be caused by
a number of things, those caused by

sunlight can be especially dangerous.

As the lights rays hitting the
windshield can leave a driver

to what's in front of them, which is not
only terrifying to motorists driving

into the sun,

but also anyone in their path.

It's a fall evening in New York as a
biker with the sun at his back records

widely weaving ride down a suburban
route with friends.

And though he wisely moves to the right
as he sees oncoming traffic ahead, some

of that oncoming traffic apparently
doesn't see him.

As the biker passes a turnoff road, a
white SUV begins to turn left.

Its driver, appearing to have their
visor down, and apparently unable to see

biker.

The devastating crash knocks off the
biker's helmet, while he is sent flying

off onto the side of the road.

Moments later,

The biker's friends arrive and
immediately rush to his aid.

Unfortunately, finding him non
-responsive.

Emergency crews soon arrive to assist
the injured biker and

transport him to the hospital.

The rider claims he sustains serious
personal injuries from the accident.

According to him, neither he nor the
other driver are charged in the

But regardless, a stark reminder that
whether driving into the

sun or away from it, the most important
thing for everyone on the road is to

drive defensively.

Frustrations on the road can be caused
by any number of reasons.

But impatience at being held up

is certainly one of the more common
ones.

In this instance, the small amount of
time the driver of the red sedan was

delayed at the turn.

Appears to have set him off.

And his reaction.

Threatens to delay him even more.

Fortunately,

this biker doesn't take the bait.

And both men go their separate ways.

But not all drivers are so averse to
confrontation.

In London, a trucker appears to attack a
sedan driver who seems to have cut

in front of him. But rather than pull
away from the altercation, the sedan

driver makes an unwise choice.

And then, escalates things.

The sedan driver gets in two swings of
his belt before the larger trucker

pummels him against the fence and
overwhelms him.

While this is happening, the sedan
driver's passenger, seemingly frustrated

this macho exhibition, keeps herself
behind the wheel.

Then, as the two men square off, and
continue to go back and forth, a would

peacemaker enters the scene, which seems
to end

things with one exception.

A sucker punch.

A cheap shot that wisely

goes unanswered.

In Colorado, a brutal example of how
quickly the pursuit of a suspect

can go off the rails.

State troopers join local law officers
in pursuit of a vehicle,

which according to media reports, began
when local officers responded to a

report of shots fired and the driver of
the now -pursued vehicle fled, causing

multiple accidents along the way.

With the suspect already proving to be a
danger to others,

a quick decision is made.

Officers immediately train guns on the
suspect, making sure he's not a threat.

When they approach, they find him not
only compliant, but

seemingly bewildered.

He's secured in handcuffs and checked
for weapons.

Lift up.

Then escorted to the back of the lead
unit.

Hey, get in the car.

And locked in.

Okay.

After a search of his vehicle turns up a
handgun.

It was loaded and chambered.

The officers take a moment to piece
together the litany of offenses.

The man has allegedly committed.

While inside the lead car.

As radio chatter about the case comes
through.

The apparently overwhelmed suspect makes
a dangerous decision.

He works his handcuffed wrists under his
legs.

Pushes his way through the small window
that leads to the front seat.

And then...

The chase is on again, except this time
the suspect has a powerful police

cruiser.

The dash cam of which is being here.

And with the cruiser's radio, an ear to
everything the

police are saying.

So before plotting their move, the
officers shut down his eavesdropping.

Disable the radio, please.

Disable the radio.

From this point on, the dash cam is from
the stolen vehicle, while the radio

chatter is audible only to the other
officers in pursuit, leaving the suspect

the dark about their plan of action.

As the suspect continues to pull ahead,
the officers get to work.

I need as many sets of stop sticks set
up as you can get.

Stop sticks are designed to poke small
holes in tires that drain the air

smoothly, preventing a blowout and
possible high -speed crash.

Passing with 390.

Speed's 123.

Units ahead get in position.

A short distance ahead.

He dodges another strip.

Did he get him?

For their next attempt, officers find a
spot with guardrails on both sides of

the road, preventing him from swerving
around.

Switch candy.

As a trooper prepares to pull the stop
sticks into the driver's path.

And with traffic stopped and moved to
the shoulder ahead, the stage is set.

The suspect tries to veer around the
stopstick, but loses control,

smashing head -on into a semi's trailer.

The semi's driver appears to be okay,
while

the semi's trailer, the stolen squad
car,

and the suspect inside it are not.

Any bottles of water or anything that
anybody's got to be hit? There's

The suspect appears to be trapped.

He's alive.

Hey. Talk to me.

Hey, Jake.

Jake. And severely injured.

According to state troopers, he's rushed
to a local hospital.

But despite their diligent efforts, the
severe head injury proves to be too

much. And the suspect doesn't survive.

No other serious injuries are reported.

According to news reports, the trooper
whose squad car was taken is put on

administrative leave, but is later
reinstated.

A somber reminder that the decision to
run from police

is the kind of risk that is never worth
taking.
