Assignment Solution Walkthrough.

As a quick reminder, Ethan had reached out

because they're looking to better understand

where customers are coming from based on their email domain.

Now, here's a solution preview of what you should see

in Power Query after you've completed the assignment.

Keep in mind that depending on how

you approached solving Ethan's requests,

your applied steps may look a little bit different

than mine, and that's totally cool.

The most important thing here is that you end up

with the same result.

All right, let's jump over to Power BI

and we'll check the solution out.

So to kick this off, we're gonna head to the query editor.

And once the query editor loads here,

we're gonna hop over into our customer lookup table.

And our first key objective was to duplicate

the email address column and then name it domain name.

So if we come over, select email address,

and then we want to head up to add column tools

and duplicate column.

All right, so we've added a duplicate column.

We need to update the name here to domain name.

All right, so that is our first key objective.

All right, our second key objective is in this new column,

we need to remove all text and characters

except for the domain name.

So if we come back over to our transform column menus here

and then we can use our extract tool options to extract text

after a delimiter.

So basically what we want to do here is say everything

that is after the at symbol we want to keep.

So we'll just click okay

and now we're left with this adventure-works.com.

The next thing that we need to do is I'm gonna tackle this

by removing the .com.

So again, from this extract menu,

I'm going to remove text before delimiter.

So basically we want to try to keep everything

before the period in .com.

So click okay.

And then the last piece here that I want to do is replace

this hyphen between Adventure and Works.

So if I come over to replace values,

and then the value to find is the hyphen,

replace it with a space, and then once this updates,

we should see Adventure Space Works.

All right, so our third objective here

is to use transformation steps to clean up

and capitalize the domain name.

So what I would like to do here is, again,

we're gonna use that proper function or the capitalize

each word here again, transform menu options, format,

capitalize each word, and we have Adventure Space Works.

All right, so back to the home tab, close and apply.

And that's our fourth key objective for this lesson.
