at the Mgona markets in Malawi.

For over a thousand years,

the people of Malawi have
built their lives

along the shores of this great lake,

and farmed the land
for rice, corn, nuts, and sugarcane.

Malawi is just half the size
of Victoria,

but home to over 18 million people.

And it's from here
that our teams will continue to race.

We called it amazing,

but it's hot, humid,
sticky, dry, brutal, tough.

first, you gotta crush them down
to remove the outer shell,

and then the extra bits are shaken
and flicked away from the nuts

in a process known as winnowing.

Teams must prepare five kilos
of this fatty crop.

Once bagged and weighed,
they'll receive their next clue.

Let me tell you,
they're going to need skill,

but overall they're going
to need patience.

The teams that choose Stitch must
come here to Chezi markets

and find the local talent.

Once they do that, they must
seamlessly sew together two shirts,

but they'll be using a sewing machine
powered by a foot pedal.

When their shirts are done,
they'll receive their next clue.

I don't know
what's happening with mine,

but it's much harder than it looks.

Or they must Stack.

Now, everyone in Malawi uses
charcoal for cooking.

So teams have got to come here

and pack the bags with charcoal
till they overflow.

But they'll use sticks and string
to keep it all in.

That's the Malawian method.

And then they have to carry
the bags to the local vendor

to receive their next clue.

And as you can see,
there's more charcoal than bag.

This is gonna be heavy, dirty,
and overall,

it's gonna get messy.

As we know, the team
that's been U-turned has got to do

both Stack and Stitch

to get their next clue.

This challenge requires the teams
to make 50 bricks from scratch,

using only the natural clay and water
that surrounds them.

Once judged satisfactory by Mr Kalongo,

they'll receive their next clue.

find a bag of puzzle pieces
hidden in the water,

and then assemble this statue.

The only snag is their instructions
are in the African Chichewa language,

and the only way
to translate the directions

is by matching what's being said
to this blackboard.

Once they've found the puzzle pieces
and assembled the sculpture,

they'll get the next clue.

We were to split up,

one of us was to listen to the
proper Chichewan instructions

of where to find a puzzle.

That was actually really hard.

You had to just kind of pick out

little bit of words that you heard.

And he was also speaking very quickly.

Driving to the brick-building
challenge, we thought,

This gave us this new-found energy,

and we were just like,

"We've got this. Let's catch up."

I think they're pretty comfortable.

We've paid attention
to the demo and that.

It looked like they'd got them
out of the mould,

then, like, sat on them.

and they were starting
to panic a little bit.
