on a daily basis.

I got things thrown at me.

Sometimes students
criticized my pants

for being worn too tightly.

a comedian went on
who the owner liked

who was much more off-putting
and dirty than me,

at least in my opinion.

And so I thought that, tonight,

I would reenact
that comedian'’s performance

So that you could see
for yourself.

subject matter and presentation

onstage or offstage,

to maintain the integrity
and accuracy of that character.

A lot of stand-up comedians
like to tell jokes onstage.

Not me.

I do tell some jokes,
but I don'’t like jokes,

because jokes, you have to get,
and I don'’t like that.

I like when you can laugh
at something

and not understand why,

or you don'’t necessarily
understand why in your head,

but you understand why
on a deeper level

that goes beyond words,

and you understand it
in your body and in your heart,

and you feel it,

and you fly.

laughing at things

when you were a child.

As I mentioned earlier,
I don'’t go to strip clubs.

I never have, and I never will,

because, to me,
it'’s frustrating enough

looking at a woman
with her clothes on.

dressing you with my eyes?

You don'’t mind me
imagining you wearing nothing

but everything you'’re wearing
right now?

Plus an oversized ski jacket?

Plus a rainbow scarf

And because I'’m naive
to the strip club circuit,

I once met a stripper,
but I had no idea.

Our conversation went
as follows.

Hi, my name is Brent Weinbach.

What do you do for a living?

"Uh, I'’m a dancer."

You mean like tap?

"No, I'’m an exotic dancer."

You mean like Butoh?

And that was the end
of our conversation.

Now, a lot of people
don'’t know this about me,

but I used to be a Butoh dancer.

And for those of you
who don'’t know what Butoh is,

Butoh is an ancient Japanese
modern dance form.

Originally developed
in the late 1950s

in Berlin.

Circa 1983.

And a third of that is true.

It'’s essentially
Japanese modern dance.

And I thought that tonight

I would end my performance
and the show

with a prepared Butoh piece.

How about it?

This is more of a serious piece,

and it is entitled
"The Bone Collector."

And I know you guys came
to see a comedy show

and didn'’t expect
to see Japanese modern dance,

but I just felt I wanted
to end the show

on a more poignant note,

and I felt I could better
express myself as an artist

through this closing piece.

And so, without further ado,
